Wow…what great pics! David looks soooo happy! Congrats to the lucky ones that got to be there and share this special day with him.

  • kimk

    WOW! Fabulous pics!
Wasn’t there yesterday but by all the hoopla on twitter… a ton of folks, may have set a record for sales of books to sign and there was a ton of love for him!
This is just one video from the signing… ha the screams!

    aawwwwwww he is cute…

Watching from the video up ^^, it looks like a CD signing rather than a book signing. The girls are in a scream fest. Judging from the turnout, I guess this book signing’s a success. I have seen an author’s book signings where only a couple of dozens showed up. I think there are hundreds there in this case. Good for Archie.

Now when is the single out?

  • Studio57

Is it just me or does he look even younger than he used to? He looks like he is 12.

  • Chicagolaw

He looks SO young here; which makes the fact that he is signing a memoir even more bizare to me, lol. But glad to see him look so happy. He is a very sweet guy, and the book seems to be doing really well.

Darn, you beat me to it. :)

Archie = the “real” Benjamin Button! ;)

  • khomphuong

Wow, he looks very happy here..

  • Kitwana

Having now read his book, I think I understand how he can always be so happy and carefree. I won’t spoil it for everyone else but I really hope he never changes.

  • AIaddict

He’s a cutie and I’m glad he had a good turn out for this signing but I don’t think I will be buying his book. I do enjoy some of his music though.

  • cmom

Well, my book just came yesterday and I am really looking forward to what someone on another site (Soul David) called “Davidisms” (those interesting, thoughful statements that David makes (on twitter and in interviews and now in his book). Here is one they quoted:
““The way I see it, without inspiration, we’re all like a box of matches that will never be lit” (page 30).

David may be young but he is very insightful and as Paula once said, he is an “old soul”.

  • LCT

Archie is just one of those that will never look old – what luck! And those green eyes are to die for! What a hard working 19 year old, too!

  • sr4mjc

Kid never looks a day over 12. ;)

  • TrudyFOD

I was there yesterday in NJ…made a quick decision to go after work. I’m so glad I did…David was definitely happy and looked amazing…so worth the drive through rain & traffic and standing in line for 2 hrs — ha ha. David was worth it :)

  • KathyH

He looks young for 19.5, but *I* wouldn’t place him quite at twelve — LOL. I envy those who went to yesterday’s signing — he seemed to be really ‘on’ and I heard some great stories. I couldn’t be happier for David and, darn it, I still can’t wait to read my book-that-seems-to-be-stuck-in-Mississippi.

  • seriously

Okay. Somebody needs to get Archie to spill the beans on where he found the fountain of youth. Seriously. Other people would like to know Archie!

  • Idolnewby

Posted this on the other thread last night…

Well, it’s 2:30 am and Archie has just cost me over four hours of my life. I thought I would just read the first chapter and then go to bed, but…… If you were a fan of David, or even if you weren’t, you really need to read this. He really lays out his true feelings about the whole Idol process……in a good way… the pressure, the deadlines, the emotions, the drama. After you read this, you’ll feel like you are in his head. Great read, this kid is well beyond his years!

Didn’t mean for this to turn into a book review! Anyway, I thought it was a great read with lots of fan pics.

    P.S. Have a hanky handy!

    From his mom. haha.
Apparently according to him, she doesnt age and looks the same as she did when he was younger. I loved that comment about his mom from him.
    ——

He’s been doing a few Fox Good Day interviews today promoting the book as well. heh.

  • Pam

awwwwww look how adorable he looks in those pics! :)

  • ggdoorsfan

yes, looking good all the way around, lololol… it is the inherent disconnect between the boyish looking david and his very mature sounding voice that makes him my favorite american idol singer, and its most fascinating performer. he is not boyish and shy when he has a microphone in his hand, and reconciling those two aspects about him is intriguing and fascinating for me. i like mysteries, and enigmas, and he sure is one, lol… just digging the fan reports, videos, etc from the book signings. he has done an excellent job holding his fanbase enthralled and excited about all his projects, from the style of his hair to his new single, lol… i love watching young artists like david come into their own, watching their talent deepen and develop over time. he’s unlike your ‘typical’ pop star, and i like that. i think the columbus circle signing today is going to be off the chain nuts, lol… he’s singing 1 song, and that’s all the fans need to lose it…

  • dhunken

I swear he is the happiest person on the planet. When he smiles he makes me smile no matter how I am feeling. I hope his book sells like hot cakes. He is an awesome singer/artist and comes across as one of the nicest friendliest celebrities around. (I think that is true with a lot of the idols but most definitely him, Adam, Cook, Carrie, Kris, Kimberley Locke, Diana D, and Kelly (though with an edge sometimes)

    usatoday’s review of david’s book….
    ==========================================================

David Archuleta’s ‘Chords of Strength’ memoir out this week

David Archuleta looks at the world with an appreciative sense of wonder that’s both charming and appealing. That trait comes through loud and clear in the 19-year-old’s book, Chords of Strength: A Memoir of Soul, Song, and the Power of Perseverance, out this week.

Most celebrity memoirs, especially ones from young stars, read like superficial, thrown-together works. But Chords of Strength is something different: It genuinely captures David’s voice, in both its content and its cadence. Reading the book is like listening to him speak.

The book spends as much time on the way David views life as it does with his personal history. American Idol weaves through the story on many levels — attending the first season’s finale shows, meeting future contestants Joelle James (a Season 6 semi-finalist) and Tori Kelly (a Hollywood contestant during Season 9) while competing on Star Search and, of course, his time on the show.

David also discusses his vocal paralysis at length. While he was on Star Search, David was diagnosed as having one working vocal cord and one that was paralyzed, a condition that forced him to stop singing publicly for a while. Though he eventually regained his voice, he learned the true extent of his condition during his Idol run.

“The one vocal cord, it seemed, had actually grown up over and around the weak one in order to adjust for the other one not working,” he writes.

The book several lists, such as favorite artists, interviews and Idol memories. David also offers a musical appendix listing several of his favorite songs, which range from Mariah Carey’s Butterfly to Led Zeppelin’s Kashmir.

It’s hard to imagine one of David’s fans not enjoying Chords of Strength. It would also be instructive for aspiring singers considering the talent-competition route, since David goes into great detail about the things in his life that prepared him for Idol and his thought processes and biggest challenges during the show.

    David Archuleta: Chords of Strength
David shares his unexpected and inspiring journey, including how he overcame vocal cord paralysis to achieve his dream of being a singer. He reveals insecurities he felt about his voice-before he realized that he loved the way singing made him feel more than he disliked the way he sounded. In this personal memoir, David opens up about the strength he draws from his unshakable faith and unyielding family. At Borders Columbus Circle. 7 p.m. FREE.

I love Brian M’s review of David’s book. I totally agree with his description that “David Archuleta looks at the world with an appreciative sense of wonder that’s both charming and appealing.” This comes across so clearly in David’s book. I think that is why he is always so happy and carefree.

  • JudyOhio

What a happy young man! And I’m happy for him! I think he looks more his age now (a young-looking 19-year-old, but not a 12-year-old). The hair has finally taken shape and actually looks good on him. I’m glad to see him still draw so much attention (2 years past AI7) and look forward to his single and new album. He’s honestly just as cute as he can be and always makes me smile. He could have easily folded after his dad’s bust with all the media attention, but no, he hung right in there with his career and continued to achieve. This IS an inspiring young man indeed, for many reasons!

Thanks, GG, for posting that merry-go-round of the improv at the beginning of Works for Me. I was at that Reno concert and I think David was waiting for Mike Krompass to do something with his guitar and he just started doing it – as far as I am concerned, David could stand on stage and improvise all night long to the bacbeat of the drums. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rVVBGcOhXfM

The music just flows through him.
