He didn,t forget the lyrics LOL, It was his mic, you can see his mouth moving along and you can hear the last part of the word when the sound made the comeback ;)

the mic dropped on that part. it came back quickly. great job on both tunes, and nice ending on sbm… well done!

Oh, dear God, I just heard David singing ‘Stand By Me’ from Brazil! He was spectacular! And sooo handsome!!!

The SSB was lovely too, although the orchestra was very loud and I couldn´t hear David´s gorgeous voice soar as I would like!

Beautiful….absolutely nobody sings the National Anthem better than David.

Both were gorgeous — although yes, the orchestra was too loud during the NA. And I did hear the mic drop out but David kept his cool.

^the music in general seems to be a lot louder than the speaking/singing on tv. especially when the whole orchestra is playing and its not just a few instruments, particularly the brass section… lol

But I think he did great!

David was fantastic… Oh my…. I LOVED Stand By Me!!

One thing though… not enough of him!

What is up with the mic dropping out on the most important song of the night? Archie was fabulous anyway. Yeah the orchestra was TOO LOUD and David’s mic was a bit low. They needed to raise the volume on his mic. SBM was terrific even though he seemed a little nervous in front of such a large crowd. I am proud of him regardless. Bravo David! I wish he could sing more. :) David look really sharp in his outfit too. :) Do they not understand that David doesn’t need an orchestra? The rest of the acts are kind of a bore so I turned it off after Archie, lol.

Very good SSB from David! The rehearsal version was better, though, because of the mic little fail and loud orchestra! SBM was slightly different from his previous performances and I loved it even more! Very very nice job! And… Did I mention his cuteness??

Yeah, I’ve had trouble hearing all the singers tonight. Good show though. I enjoy all the pomp and marching and stuff. :)

Yeah. haha. 1812 overture is always my fave during the fourth fireworks.

I thought David did a great job on both the anthem and SBM. His voice is just so beautiful and airy. I thought that his performances were even more impressive when you consider that he was opening the show, singing in front of the largest live audience he has ever sung in front of and having to deal with a mic failure seconds into the anthem.

It’s be rebroadcast right now and I thought they may have adjusted the sound or I was ready but National Anthem sounded even better. The orchestra leader that they used to have passed away this year,so maybe they are adjusting. Of course David usually sings Anthem acapella and I’m spoiled. Enjoyed Stand By Me and his little speech! (miss the beautiful girl part but realize that wouldn’t be appropriate for this tribute. Proud of David and he looked great.

i wanted to see if they readjusted for the encore, but my station didnt air the encore. lol fail.

I am glad I got to see the rebroadcast. This is an amazing opportunity for David. I am so happy for him.

Just finished watching this. Way to go, David! First of all, he looked spectacular, and his eyes always…just…how can anyone have such beautiful eyes? And he thinks he looks weird. Puh-lease. Do you realize, David, how many guys would kill to look like you? And just how gorgeous you are?

Anyyyyway, great job on both songs! Too bad about the mic malfunction and the orchestra being too loud. I was literally yellng at the orchestra: “You’re too loud. Be quiet so people can hear him!” LOL…I’ve been involved in music performance for much of my life, and you can almost always count on something going wrong. He handled it very professionally. I also noticed that when Darius Rucker sang, one of the instruments overpowered him and it sounded like they weren’t together at all.

And my mother, bless her heart…while I was complaining about the orchestra, she said “You know, there are more important things than David. This isn’t about how great his performance was or wasn’t, it’s about honoring those who’ve served our country. That’s what today and this show is about. And I’m sure David was honored just to be there.” She’s right, of course. Mothers always are.

What a voice! Loved it! He is such a classy young man.

Wow, I am just so proud of him. He is really amazing. What a way to cap off the holiday. Good going David!

David and A Capital Fourth are a perfect fit! The crowd absolutely loved him. And so did we at my place. Great way to spend the Fourth. He sang with conviction and soul, and a few nerves (understandable to say the least). In a few years a crowd this size won’t faze him a all.

Gladys can still rock the joint too! Loved her set. Hope she and Arch were able to meet up and visit.

It was a lovely program, but David was the highlight for me! How wonderful to be chosen to participate in the program and to do such an outstanding job!

I had to record him singing Stand by Me , which is my favorite song. It was a highlight of the Season 7 tour and David puts his own special touch on it tonight.

He looked and sounded really,really great. He has really done quite a bit in his 19-almost-20 years, hasn’t he?? Yeah! His personality just sparkles and his voice is really such a gift. Love his new single alot!

WASHINGTON — It was hot. Period. But there’s something about strolling the National Mall and watching a huge fireworks show explode behind the Washington Monument that brings people out in droves every year to downtown Washington on July 4.

The National Park Service does not provide crowd estimates, but numbers released by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority suggested over 400,000 turned out Sunday for the Capitol Fourth concert, which was broadcast to millions more on PBS and National Public Radio stations across the country.

After the heat broke and the sun began to set, American Idol runner-up David Archuleta sang the national anthem to kick of the Capitol Fourth concert. Darius Rucker, Gladys Knight, Reba McEntire and the National Symphony Orchestra also performed.

Yes, I saw the “David for Prez” sign also, lol. David has a lot coming up in this month, and it’s really nice to see him so busy a full 2 years after his time on idol (AI7). A pop album (gold), an almost 2-million selling hit with his single “Crush”, a well-attended tour supporting that album, an opener in the UK with McFly, a summer tour with Demi Lovato, a tour for his Christmas album, “Christmas from the Heart”, a best-seller book, “Chords of Strength”, recipient of an ALMA award plus that fabulous Contigo en la Distancio (sp?) performance, Teen Choice awards, numerous SSB’s to be topped off with this latest one on a Capitol Fourth actually AT the capitol, numerous TV and radio interviews, a philanthropist, and now, a new single due in 7 days from his sophomore album that is just a few months away. Well that’s enough, and I’m sure there is more. Just said all that to say this….THIS guy stays BUSY!
