Wow! Cute interview! Little David is growing up right before our eyes. I thought he’s never had a girlfriend before though, so I’m curious about the personal experiences he’s referring to.

He is such an appealing guy. The personal experience comment should keep his young female fans busy speculating for some time. The clips in the video sounded wonderful.

He’s a doll. I really enjoy watching him evolve before my eyes. That clip of I’ll Be is pure delight.

My take, in David-speak, is that there was a girl he liked but he was too shy to do anything about it until it was too late and now he regrets it. She’s got another guy now but they are still friends. Sad. haha! I don’t really know.

He co-wrote it. The concept was his, but my money is on the other writers filling it in to make the song more about a “relationship” and not an “almost relationship”.

Archie really sounds very good live….I wonder which part of ALTNOY was taken from personal experience.

^Actually there is a rumor in fanbase about a perky girl called Olivia, I think don ´t remember, his classmate, that was unrequired first love, and she was kind of rude to him… and about a month a go she left a message in his myspace, around the time he lost his phone, asking him why he wasn ´t returning her calls… oh the drama… Archie is always cute, I hope everything goes well in the Sundance thing have fun David…

Well David has said a few times that he’s dated he just hasn’t dated seriously. Like someone said above, he probably regretted not making a move when he should have. Also, he absorbs from what his family/friends go through on different issues.

Yep, that was what started the rumor, after that she posted a comment of that post in Archie ´s personal myspace, a really kind of sarcastic (a little rude IMO) comment, and then her post in his music myspace at the start of december… fanbase when crazy making histories about what they were to each other lol, and a lot of fans always though that ALTNOY was about her… fun times ;D…

He’s always been open about not having girlfriends, not holding hands, not kissing anybody, so there’s no way it could actually be a personal experience he had. I do think somebody at Jive finally sat him down and told him to stop saying stuff that makes him look 12; so now we’ll get a bunch of non-specific “oh I’ve had personal experiences with that stuff” kinds of answers instead of the dorky stuff. Upgrade, even if it is a bit of a white lie.

Hopefully somebody from Jive also talked to him about that weird habit of coloring in women’s legs with sharpies.

A Little Too Not Over You, You Can (with Daniel), Works For Me, Crush, A Thousand miles. And he got stuck in an elevator.

Poor guy. Stuck in an elevator when he knew people were waiting for him to go on. Big question was how long he was stuck–the audience waiting a long time for him to come out (about an hour and a half or so). Who knows how much of that was “stuck in an elevator” time.

Unfortunately, the venue was strict about videos so it’s up in the air as to whether we’ll get any.

He has said he’s went on dates. He still has feelings.. obviously because he’s cranked out some good songs.. better than what landed on his album.

I don’t think we can judge David just by what he says in interviews. He seems the type to keep certain things to himself and has said as much. I hope that doesn’t change personally.

Having raised 4 sons through both their 12th and 18th years of life, I find David’s attitude remarkably mature. He has said numerous times he has dated and has found a few girls he wanted to get to know better. His song and remark may reflect his regret at not pursuing something with someone he was interested. He also states repeatedly that he has seen his friends go through relationship drama and that may be what he means by “personal experiences’ as he has helped friends through these things. He has never said he has not held a girl’s hand and in fact there are photos around of him holding a girl’s hand when he was home after AI ended so he has obviously had some level of relationship with the opposite sex from which to draw upon when tossing out ideas for songs.

I agree, IGC and luckeee. David prides himself on his honesty. He has said as much in a few of his very early interviews. If he wanted to tell a little white lie I doubt he would preface it with the word “definitely”, as when he said, “It was definitely from some personal experiences.à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬  David is very candid about many things but he is also quite shy and guards his privacy well, not just for his sake but for the sake of his object(s) of affection in question, particularly after what happened to one of his friends who got a lot of hate mail from jealous teens who didn’t think she deserved him.

Maybe I can shed some light on the personal experience subject. Remember David lives by different standards than many, he believes in keeping morally clean before marriage, etc. In Mormon/Utah high school dating culture, faithful LDS kids don’t “go steady” or pair off, in striving to follow their church leader’s advice. Thus, not having an actual girlfriend or more serious relationship until they are older, usually college age, is normal. BUT, these kids do have preferences for one another, hanging out in larger groups which usually include the person they “like”. Dating one person more than three times is, for some here, considered a bad idea as it could lead to deeper feelings, steady dating, and…..you know what I mean…..to more than a li’l somthin’, smothin’. In other words, breaking your personal vows of purity (re: CTR ring).

Hopefully this may help in understanding David’s ALTNOY lyrics and his statement of never having a girlfriend. It doesn’t mean he’s never been gaga over a girl. Quite the opposite, in fact! I’ve got 3 teens/young adults that have been raised in this same culture, so I feel like I understand, at least a bit, where David’s coming from.

Ok, about the Sundance performance tonight. Rumor has it that a reporter from the NY Times was following him around. Plus, the LA Times’ Richard Rushfield was there and the website Snarky Archies got him to say, into a camera, that David was better than all boy bands. ROFL. It sounds like there was a lot of industry people and press there, which I expected. AP was there too.

Oh, and apparently David was not stuck in an elevator, but people with him were though. I know from reading a few twitters that people in the audience did think that David was stuck in an elevator while they were there.

Ah… apparently it was Daniel that got stuck in the elevator. haha!

Luckeee- I usually go to several of David’s fansites daily, and I have never come across a picture of David holding someone’s hand, or even discussion of a picture of David holding someone’s hand. I’m curious as to where you heard/saw this, unless maybe you know him personally? I’d be very surprised if there’s a picture out there that would show David holding someone’s hand when he has repeatedly said he is not comfortable with hand holding and public displays of affection. That would certainly be surprising news if it’s true..

It was from his time in utah on the top 3 break, the same day/night he sang at the fireside chat thing for kids. If thats the pic I remember correctly.

Okay, I’ve only watched Crush and You Can so far and both performances were great. I’ve gotta say that seeing the way David introduced his brother and how excited he was to be performing with him for the first time got me a little misty. Daniel did so well. I’ve seen a couple of his covers on YouTube and he’s just as musically inclined as his brother. I can see him collaborating more with David in the future.

LOL @ the Richard Rushfield clip. I have to say, I’ve loved a lot of boy bands (and when I say loved, I mean LOOOOOOVED) and IMO, David is greater than all boy bands.

I’m sort of floored by this latest performance of Crush. I keep re-watching the last chorus – the way he changes up the line, “are you holding back like the way I do” is fabulous.

If there’s one thing David proved over the AI tour it’s that as he gets more and more comfortable with the songs he’s performing, he’s able to bring wonderful, innovative interpretations to them. I can’t wait to see David progress with his own material over the next several months and years. I think we’re all in for a real treat.

So heard this, last season of AI I got some friends to watch it thaks to mi “admiration” for Archie, so one of my friends went to the CP in Disney Orlando and she got to meet David… she told me that it was backstage in Magic Kingdome and, (she had the day off and they can go to the parks whenever they want),suddenly the Information guys, they do the VIP tours, were showing a young guy around… when they cross path David said hi to her and she was like hey back, but she couldnt remember who he was and suddenly she remember and though in getting and autograph for me … but she wasn ´t allowed to get it … just though is a funny little story to tell you guys

In the USA interview when he makes the Ice Cream comparison, it sounds like he has “tasted” something. How could you know how “Ice Cream” tastes if you never tried?
That with this personal experience he is talking about could mean he’s been with someone, but maybe not a girl.

Wow, you’re way off base here leome. I was talking about David’s Mormon culture earlier, and his committment to purity definately includes no homosexual behavior. Statements like this are surely damaging to David and his career and there is no evidence in the least of what has been implied.

This is a clean kid, a nice kid, a strong kid, who knows who he is and what he wants in life – to help others through his music, serve God, and when the time is right marry the right girl. See his previous interviews for these facts.

I am SOOOO not getting into this except to say that in Seventeen magazine he said that has not had his first kiss. Period.

eta: And I happen to know quite a few guys (my husband included) who didn’t kiss a girl until 17 or 18 years old, simply because they hadn’t found a girl they wanted to kiss yet. People just do things differently.

Mormon issue aside, David has also expressed interest in girls, specifically and often. He is just young, he knows he is young, and more power to him for not trying to be an adult before he’s an adult.

So I was a 20 years old when I have my first kiss… both my brothers didn ´t have a girlfriend until they were in college, so I don ´t find David not kissing or dating weird at all… and I don ´t understand how people can said an judge about people sexuality so easy….

As I said before I just recently have being learning a lot about Mormom religion… and  ´now that I have read and talk to people about the subject of dating, not before you are 16 and after that only groups dates, I understand why they decided to used that kind of rules, even when my religion don ´t use them.. Interesting. But see, I think saying that David finds homosexual behavior not to be pure, damages him a lot more than speculating that he is gay. I also hope you’re not saying that gay kids can’t be clean (whatever that means) nice and strong…
I have more respect for a gay person than someone who doesn’t accept gay behavior.
Also, given that he hasn’t kissed anyone, there is also no evidence of what has been implied (that he is staright).
