Archuleta's vocals are just so perfect for ballads and Christmas songs. Not so sure if this view is popular but I really think that Archuleta is the younger version of Josh Groban and should record songs that are more appropriate for his type of vocals. He appears to be extremely more comfortable and convincing emoting ballads than the pop songs he is singing in his album. (IMO) But regardless -- I still love him as a very talented artist.
