And I am so flipping excited for his single to be released on Friday!!! I thought I would have to wait longer than that so this is great news!

On Aug 1st! So early! I don’t think I can actually handle this. I already settled for September 2nd. Dang it, David!

I think that the deal for Friday morning premiere is just so that the fans can hear it kind of like it was for Kristy’s single “Fifteen Minutes of Shame”.

I’m kind of anxious to hear it though.

I am so happy that he is having fun hanging out Jason and Brooke.. and they were all in a songwriting session.. how cool is that!

I can’t wait to see him tomorrow in concert and can’t wait to hear that single on Friday… oh my.. I’m beside myself! He is so precious..dang it!

I do too. Archie is definitely the “real” deal. His vlogs sometimes give me the case of the giggles and just as ealbino said, he is too precious and I couldn’t agree more.

Nice to hear that David and Jason are hitting it off. It seems that Jason has started to take David under his wing as a “little brother”. They seem to be hanging out a lot lately. It’s sweet that Jason invited him to “work out” and then go kayaking together. Great little adventure! Hope some of those pictures are posted soon! It’s Tuesday…so I’m looking forward to “date night” with Jason tonight!!!

I love his vlogs! You can’t help but smile the whole time you’re watching. He’s so positive and normal and friendly.

I’ve always what the conversations between Jason and David are like. I’d like to be a fly on the wall for one of those. They’re probably hilarious together.

Can’t wait for “Crush” to premiere. Word is that somebody called the station to confirm the premiere, and the program director told her that the song was midtempo with a really great hook. That’s encouraging, since the program director decides what songs get added.

This is what the program director (Sharon) for the radio said:

He will debut the song which they will stream from their station at
Z100 and then they will POST THE SONG ON THEIR WEBSITE!!

The wait is nearly over!! It has also been confirmed that the song is à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‹Mid tempoà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ and has a great hook that will catch you on the first listen.

David will arrive at the station at 7:40 am (est) within 30 minutes of this the song will be available on their website. Sharon said spread the word and tell all your friends!

Somebody else called later (my goodness, everybody’s calling) and the program director told him that with the amount of calls and requests they’ve been receiving for the song this morning, the song is likely to get good airplay. Then again, you never know with radio stations–they like to play with fans. But I’m being optimistic and hoping for the best. At least they understand that he’s popular. He’s not nominated for “Most Fanatic Fans” at the TCAs for nothing.

Z100 is the top radio station in the country. Other stations pay attention to what they play. When they like a song, they play it a lot.

hollygo9, while I also can’t wait to hear new music from DC, I read around, and I gather that this is standard operating procedure for RCA. They take longer to get the first single out, but I honsetly don’t think it means jack squat in the long run. We’ll just have to be patient for now, but sounds like there’s plenty to look forward to.

As an Archie fan, I’ve been waiting for a new song from him since the finale so finally, the wait is over. *whew*

Who else got signed besides Archie (rightfully so, I think) and Kristy (what do I know? but WTF?). Anyway this is pretty much standard by now. Clay released before Ruben, Kellie and Daughtry before Taylor. And Archie is the only runner up NOT to have a runner up single since season one, let the kid have his shot. Ain’t gonna hurt nobody.

Cute vlog. I’m not particularly interested in 17 year old boys singing about an imaginary “Crush” but it couldn’t be any worse than a full-grown man singing about a freakin’ magic rainbow. Given the rumors that the usual suspects were told to start manufacturing songs for the boy back in the top 24, it’s not at all surprising that a single is ready. I’m sort of interested to see what brand of pop they’re going with for Archie.

As a Cook fan, I must agree. He got a single by virtue of his win and the song hasn’t done too shabby. I agree with the Archie fans here, when the show ended he didn’t get a single and now finally he’s getting one. Congrats to Archie. As I said earlier, I am anxious to hear his song.

Jive seems to really be bringing out the big guns in their support and committment to David. I highly doubt that this is like KLC. This is being set up almost identically to Jordin’s “Tattoo” release last year. This is how Jive operates and if they are going for the Friday Z100 in-studio premiere, there will be a lot of payola behind this song, so it should receive substantial airplay (good or bad, requests or not).
This is how it works: Z100 will premiere it on Friday morning and play it several times over the weekend. They will officially add it on Monday. Other major markets who play monkey see, monkey do with Z100 will start playing it and add it over the month of August. Then, on the official impact date of Sept. 2, the song will be released to itunes and the overall radio push will commence in order to get a respectable to good Hot 100 debut. After the AI tour, the big payola will start with lots of in-studio radio promotions in major markets and contests like “Win breakfast with David Archuleta” or something like that. This will continue for about 2 months to keep the single moving up the charts. It will conclude with the album promotion and release (so, November 4 seems just about right).

This is an entirely different ball game from a runner up single that gets thrown out there with no radio promotion to temporarily appease fans. This is the first legitimate album single to be released from Season 7.

The premise behind AI of the audience choosing a winner hasn’t held up for a while now. The fact is that TPTB have been looking for a teenage male pop singer for seven years. They seem to have found one in Archie; thus, he becomes the first male contestant to get a Z100 premiere (those don’t go to just anybody). He will be promoted to the fullest extent possible.
No, winning doesn’t guarantee anything more than post-show press, a recording contract and two weeks of album promo, and that is all that winners who were not hand-picked will receive, regardless of their potential.

Let’s just say I’ve been around the block for a long time and leave it at that. If what I posted above is not the plan, I will be shocked.
I would not call myself a fan of Archie’s type of music but wish nothing but good things for him (as well as the other contestants).
As for nobody else being deserving….I certainly would not go that far. I would be very interested in hearing something from Jason. And I think that Cook deserves a shot with something other than Magic Rainbows. But TPTB have waited seven years for a teenage male pop singer, so….that probably isn’t going to happen.

Archie is getting good treatment and frankly I saw it coming the moment I saw him sing Heaven. You can’t manufacture that stuff it’s just organic. The fact that he is damn adorable without being obsequious, talented without being overconfident, and has a voice that comes along only ever so often I figured they wouldn’t just throw him overboard because voters prefered Cookie.

Oh please critics will prolly crucify it, but it’s the right listeners that matter. If the tween and teen response is good, he’s gonna be golden.

Everything happens for a reason, when David didn’t win despite he delivered a knock out on the final night. Yes I see great things for him the moment I laid eyes on him singing shop around. I never feel sad for him again after I know he signed with Jive. He is going to be fine.

Forget about those critics, most of them just want to tear you down.

The kid can flat out S-I-N-G…. his confidence and stage presence can do nothing but increase as he continues growing as an artist….. I plan to see him and the other Idols when they come to Charlotte in a few weeks, and man… haven’t been this excited to see a live show in ages!!!!

A fan finally got a reply today from KIIS FM in LA after a month that said that Archie will soon be on Ryan Seacrest’s Mornging Show..so I guess Ryan has nothing to be jealous about haha. It’s highly likely since Archie will be in LA for the TCAs.

I think TPTB is actually treating both contestants really well..i mean they were really behind Cook during the show and got him the sketchers deal and everything, expecting him to sell like the next Daughtry. I guess they underestimated Archie’s popularity and appeal.

That’s cute. Maybe I was watching a different show but it seemed to me that they were behind Archie just as much (if not more) than Cook. And selling sneakers hardly compares to being able to release music from your own album with top-notch promotion.
But this is about Archie and his fans have every right to celebrate because he is definitely receiving excellent treatment and promotion for music that will actually be on his album (far better than other runner ups and most winners, including this year’s).

I do understand the knee-jerk reaction of DC fans about Archie having his single released before DC-and no, I don’t count Magic Rainbows as a “real” single. But it’s all good. DC will release his single when it’s ready, and it will rock.

Archie is a really really cute kid-very sweet and appealing. Not a fan of his music or style, but I wish him every success.

I was really into what you were saying from the standpoint of being a fan of young David, but certainly there is no screwing of DC that I see. He’s getting a hip producer that seems to be into exactly the kind of music his fans want. He’s getting to put his songs on his cd. He’s got a couple of endorsement deals, a hot single that is being pushed to the hilt. Performing at A-list events. What am I missing?

I certainly see no reason for him to be pushed under a bus, on the contrary I see every reason to promote the crap out of him. I am not a fan of his (don’t really like the current rock scene), but even I see huge potential. If they wanted to leave him high and dry and prove through promotion who their “true” winner is, why give Cook major endorsement deals? Why get on board his album one of the most sought-after producers?
They could have easily Taylor’d him, but why would they want to? He has proven through the season that he’s a big seller, and he has a wide, varied fanbase. Why not cash in on two successful singers from this season, instead of just one?
I have no doubt that Archie is going to do well with this song, seems like it’ll get promoted well, and maybe it’s even a really good song (we’ll find out soon enough), but I refuse to see it as a sum zero equation. One doesn’t have to fail for the other one to succeed.
I know many fans will try to paint it out like that, but I will only start to worry about Cookie if his own first single doesn’t get promotion. Archie getting the push tells me nothing other than Jive seeing money in him.

I hope it’s a good song. I kind of wish Archie had waited a year or two to audition because he’s really too good a singer for the pop stuff they’ll have him do. Hopefully, he’ll get some strong r&b stuff on the album. He has his own strong taste in music so that will help. I don’t always like the inspirational stuff but he always looks for meaning in the songs so that’s good. I think TPTB will be behind both the Davids. More $ is a good thing, no? Archie and Elliott are my two fav guys as well but Archie will need to do grown up music to get me to buy his stuff.

That is the prob I have always had with Archie…I really dislike overt non-subtle inpirational songs and a young kid singing about relationships just doesn’t do it for me. I’m a grown woman and want the lyrics the singer is singing to have real meaning and experience behind them.

I don’t know if some were expecting Archie to be thrown under the bus because he lost, but that was never going to happen. By the same token, I dont think having his new single debut on Z100 this Friday=Cook getting the shaft from TPTB. DC’s coronation single is doing well, so maybe RCA wants to get a little more mileage out of it. They’ve done a great job so far in pushing and supporting TOML so I don’t see why things will be any different when they’re ready to release a new single from his upcoming album. These two are going to be given every opportunity to succeed.

I’m looking forward to hearing Archie’s new single. The title worries me a little (I hope it’s not too “bubblegum pop”), but maybe I’ll be pleasantly surprised. At any rate, I wish Archie the best!

DA’s release concerns me some because of the build up and expectaions. I’m curious myself what a song with the title “Crush” would sound like, music and lyrics. DA and DC are quite different. A bonafide rocker winner and the makings of a little teen sensation, lol. I think both are going to do great! Again though, am just a tiny bit worried about the expectations game, for both. This is the way I was in the beginning of idol (except for the fact that he blew me away with his first two songs) but honestly, I feel that Archie is deeper than your typical teenager. He has already dealt with two years of losing his dreams and described that as a depressing time in his life and worked hard to get it back. From what I have read, his work ethic is incredibly strong and from the way he has answered certain questions, I have always thought his logic far exceeded his age. I hear interviews of grown singers and I just want to roll my eyes at their partying ways and some of their lame answers. Just because they had a one night stand doesn’t mean they have life experience. It just makes them more immature in my book.

i’m so happy for archie and find it funny that people say they can’t get into his music becuase he’s either too young or hasn’t experienced something he’s singing about. there are many singers who have sung about issues that they did not specifically/personally go thru. but like a good actor, they draw on a similar feelings and “get into” the song. so, there’s still meaningful emotion behind it. and, we just know archie so much more than the average singer. typically when you hear a song on the radio, you don’t know that singers personality & background. if they sing it well & touch you, you believe it. so, here’s hoping the doubters can just hear archie with an open mind and enjoy his immense talent. as for his youth – how many major talents started when they were teens? too many to count.

you put that so well, thank you. i don’t understand it either. archie always talks about how he only wants to sing songs he connects with and he doesn’t understand the point of singing a song if you don’t connect with it. so i have no doubt there is emotion behind it and i feel like i can see him transform into a different person when he performs….and i am completely captivated when when that happens!

Actually I think TPTB will always stand behind cook..after all he represents the show now. Jive though is separate from TPTB and they definitely see the huge potential and their youngest star.

That is the prob I have always had with Archieà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦I really dislike overt non-subtle inpirational songs and a young kid singing about relationships just doesnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t do it for me. Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m a grown woman and want the lyrics the singer is singing to have real meaning and experience behind them.

Supposedly, the song is about whether or not he has a crush on a girl. The source is the same one that leaked pretty much everything Archie-related during the season. So it’s not a full-on relationship song, nor is it an inspirational song. And he’s certainly old enough to know about crushes and the insecurity that comes with attaching yourself to another person emotionally.

As for Cook, I don’t see him being shafted at all. I just think he’s doing what he said he was going to do–take his time. There’s no need to rush while TOML is still doing well. He’s getting endorsements, appearing on national TV specials, etc. Cook is being treated just fine. Somebody asked Archie about Cook before one of the shows and Archie said that Cook was busy all the time.

Plus, although 19 is involved with both Davids, they’re on different major labels. It’s Jive that’s setting up “Crush,” not 19. And Cook is on RCA, which does things differently. Jive doesn’t care about how Cook is promoted, and vice versa with Archie and RCA. This is classic Jive promotion, and it’s what Archie’s fans were hoping for when he signed with them.

Archie won’t sing his new single on tour. Jordin released her single during the tour last year. Her set list didn’t change. She didn’t begin promoting the single until the tour was over.

Not only that, but me thinks enough pestering could cause them to misplace David’s single before Friday even gets here. This is a nice opportunity for David, and if fans want it to work out for him, it might be a good idea to just enjoy it and leave the poor radio peeps alone. They’re going to play the song, and stream the song, what more could any e-mail or phone campaigns get him anyway?

On a side note, I’m not an Archie fan at all, but I find the idea that Archie is being treated better than DC at this point laughable. As has been noted, they’re on two different labels with two different promo teams. Neither of which I’m sure is paying much attention to what the other is doing.

Well, that’s a horse of a different color right there. If the PD’s request for fans to call, then it should be open season. Things typically get problematic when they receive unsolicited requests from thousands of crazed fans outside of their listening area. That seems to be when they usually get annoyed. And, angry fan e-mails when they’re not playing what you want tend to be unpopular as well LOL.

And, in general my feelings about pestering radio PD’s and leaving hate messages for nasty reviewers, etc. are universal regardless of what fan base we’re talking about.

Okay big DC fan here! From what I understand DC is a huge fan of DA, I’d imagine he’s very happy for him! As a DC fan, I’m very happy for DA too! (Not that I have to listen to others to decide who I’m happy for…)

Yeah. I think that award could definitely be taken as negative or positive, probably depending on how much of a “fanatic” for Archie you are yourself.

But as for embarrassment – The TCAs have so many categories, I’d be surprised if that one made it to the air. Then again, I’ve never watched the show before, so what do I know, I just can’t imagine how they’d have time to give so many awards in, what, 2 hours? Some stuff would have to be cut back, I’d imagine.

Why are you embarrassed by it? The Archies worked hard to get him on the ballot – and the TCA staff has been very kind to us. I think all this category does is show support to David. I didn’t like the category at first, but now I don’t see the harm in it.

Frankly, I ‘m tired of David A’s fanbase being dissed. Cut us some slack. We’re not ruining his career.

The TCA’s are a freaking retarded awards show anyway. They make the MTV Movie Awards look like the Pulitzers.

This is the way I was in the beginning of idol (except for the fact that he blew me away with his first two songs) but honestly, I feel that Archie is deeper than your typical teenager. He has already dealt with two years of losing his dreams and described that as a depressing time in his life and worked hard to get it back. From what I have read, his work ethic is incredibly strong and from the way he has answered certain questions, I have always thought his logic far exceeded his age. I hear interviews of grown singers and I just want to roll my eyes at their partying ways and some of their lame answers. Just because they had a one night stand doesnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t mean they have life experience. It just makes them more immature in my book.

I teach teens and could never find anything that they do or perform swoon-worthy. I can see his appeal to tweens and teens, but not to adults-sorry.

I don’t find DA swoon worthy, and I would hope most adults don’t! What he is though, is quite a talented young fellow. Jason isn’t that much older, and there are a lot of adult women who admire him also. Even DC isn’t old enough for certain age groups of women (myself being one of them) to swoon over. However, there’s a large group of over 40-year-olds who DO watch AI and follow it closely each and every year and are big fans of the show itself and then become interested in following the progress of some of these kids (their favorites) after the season wraps. As they go on to the tour and to try to build their individual careers, it’s fun (imo) to follow their progress or lack thereof. So that is the “appeal” if you will (to me).

Having said that, I do feel there are younger folks who have a wisdom beyong their years, as well as some older folks who are dummer than a rock.

I just want to say that Archuletas adult fans who by the way are dads, moms, grandmas and grandpas and young adults does not swoon over or are smitten by a 17 year old boy. What we see is a musical talent worthy of praise and support combined with a humble, gracious and wonderful human being. I dont understand why if you are a fan of a 17 year old, people get the impression that you are smitten or acting like a teenage kid. I am one of his adult fan, to me I feel like he is my son and I appreciate the new
generation of person and music that he is and absolutely love how he performs and I want to see him succeed and live his dreams. When it comes to music, its universal except of course for Disney. You have to look at things at a different perspective.

Well I’ve read a fan who emailed TCA asking if Archie would sing his single at the event, and then asking how to contact Jive and such I guess to email them to let Archie sing. Think people! That is going overboard. We haven’t even heard Crush yet and already some are requesting the song on stations, at least wait till friday morning. I guess only the fanatics would see it as helping David.

Steve Wonder, Prince, Michael Jackson, Chris Brown, Justin Timberlake etc etc a long list of artists begin their career at the age of 17, or 15, or 10. Age doesn’t make you less of an artist.
