    I like the à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“The Christmas Songà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ , and I ´m really wishing for a Christmas album from Archie…

Apparently it was a great night for “The Arch”, getting to close the show… and he did great in all his songs…

About or previous discussion about the tour, IÂ ´m liking the Idea of Natasha Bedingfield, I think that the idea of him touring with Chris Brown is really good… not really in to Rihana (sp?)…

LOL Now we have to have a WARNING MAY CAUSE A PERMANENT LOSS OF HEARING on his youtube’s! Loved the Christmas Chestnut Song and Works For Me and loved the CROWD!! David was on fire! lol Literally.

David KILLED on the Christmas song… hearing him sing this alone would, to me, have been well worth the price of admission… 10x over….

I’ve been listening back and forth this morning to Nat King Cole’s GOLD standard version, his daughter Natalie’s stellar version from a few years ago, (and David lists her as an influence!) and now David’s… the screams can’t detract from the utter beauty and soulfully simplistic 21st century interpretation he delivered…. when we think we’ve seen it all with him, he digs down deep and displays another fascinating layer of depth and musical versatility…. The admiration and love for his gift grows more with each performance. :king_tb:

I always love it when people who know music explain to me why I like David’s singing of a song so much. Thanks, GGdoorsfan.

People have said that they could hear David last night, even through the screams, but I’m thinking the girl who busted her vocal chords to tell him he loved him during “The Christmas song” may not have heard him sing that song at all.

And I doubt she has a voice today.

  • ggdoorsfan

Found this posted on Snarky Archies blog site – from recaps posted last night:
    http://www.snarkyarchies.com/

He sang his usual and really rocked out TMH and ALTNOY and added The Christmas Song; he left after Crush and the crowd started to chant à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“David, Davidà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ and he came back and sang a cappella à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬’ his first ENCORE!

He was sweatinà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ something fierce! What energy he had on stage; magnetic; held everyoneà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s attention! THE VOICE was wonderful.

How cool is that? YOU DA MAN DAVID! :cool2_tb:

  • houstonrufus

Holy fangirl screams! Ha!!! That is too funny. I LOVE when david gets a rousing reception. Go D!

Yes, the “Chestnut Song” was perfection.

  • ozarka

Great pics from Tuesday’s Kissmas Bash in The Buffalo News.

  • sabby_rina

GEEEEEZZZ LOUISE!!! I love my fellow Arch angels but for goodness sake, can you let the guy sing?!?! I didn’t finish viewing the video because I heard more “DAVID I LOVE YOU!!!” more than the actual song.

How does David do it?! I doubt he was able to hear himself.

  • ggdoorsfan

I guess there are worse things for an artist other than having… ummm… ENTHUSIASTIC fans… LOL…. betcha there are lotsa singers who would gladly trade places w/David for his enthusiastic fans …….. :) we’re in a catch-22 of sorts w/him – as it is next to impossible to contain the teens and tweens in the fanbase from going bananas when they see him… we more adult fans will have to endure this, I guess, for a while….. or invest in specially designed ear plugs that can filter out the screams and hone in on the vocals…. :wink1_tb:

  • lefty

I find it very impressive that David can switch gears from a contemporary pop song to a classic (beloved) Christmas song so quickly, smoothly and beautifully. As much as I love O Holy Night, “Chestnuts” has now replaced it as my favorite of David’s Christmas performances. It gives me goose bumps.

(I’ll probably be calling it “Chestnuts” for the rest of my life now)

I seem to recall a discussion on this blog a few days ago about David A. being rather bland and boring on stage and that he wasn’t an “entertainer”. Why are all the girls screaming if this is indeed the case?

  • Tess
  • ggdoorsfan

Mr. Nathaniel (Nat) King Cole – keep resting in peace… the legacy of your classic song is in good hands in our present time… There’s a new singer on the rise named David Archuleta, who’s interpretation of it, sung before a crowd of screaming teen girls on 12/10/09, in a hot, sweaty concert hall, has given it a new audience, and added a freshness and soulful take so uniquely his own, but paying homage to you all the same. The legacy endures….

Some people still refuse to acknowledge what is so obviously right in front of them, that’s all :)

Because he is really cute with an adorable smile? ;-)

I am not saying he is bland or boring, but being bland and cute are not mutually exclusive. Cute will get them every time…

  • frogcooke

THe buffalo news also had a big pic of david from the buffalo concert in their actual paper. Its up at snarkys.

Okay…point taken. My point was mainly that there are still some out there who refuse to acknowledge the great strides he’s made on stage as a performer. He’s so energetic now, it really amazes me.

  • serenade

Why are all the girls screaming if this is indeed the case?

Because every performer has people that don’t “get” them for a variety of reasons. When it comes to discussing a former Idol contestant on a neutral site, there’s always going to be contrary opinions.

As for David A, yeah, he has the talent and the looks. He also has something that’s not easily found in every performer. Charisma. He has that “it” factor that draws people of all ages and both sexes to take an interest in him and realize the potential of his talent. It’s upto David to build his career on that. He’s shown a willingness to work hard for what he’s accomplished so far.

Because screaming at their teen idols is what teenage girls do. It doesn’t have much to do with the quality or entertainment value of the performance.

I should hope David has improved somewhat, he’s had lots of practice since the idol tour. From those videos he’s still average onstage, which is a huge improvement but doesn’t make him anything special either.

  • IdolFanatic

From those videos heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s still average onstage, which is a huge improvement but doesnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t make him anything special either.

Some believe that, many others disagree however.

It depends what you mean by something special on stage. De gustibus non disputandum est and even though he may not be special to you he is special to many others for the quality of his voice, interpretation and sheer joy he radiates when he sings. If you want Britney’s Circus, most likely he’ll never be that but that’s just fine by me. There are many Circus-like acts out there today as well as many so called rock acts whose only distinguishing factor is the color of their guitars and the amount of tats they have.

By the way, younger music lovers are not all thirteen, we are a diverse bunch who like many different kinds of music, David A’s art is exciting to us because we are kinda bored with Little Waynes and Katy Perrys so David fills the void. We may express ourselves in loud ways but we are very discriminating, that’s why we love David. We are goofy and loopy sometimes but we will mature together.

  • soccerboi

Let him sing ladies. The teen screams are so freakin annoying. Why go to the concert to just listen to screams? There is no possible way you can hear him sing….

  • ozarka

David is on right now on live webcast! Go to THIS LINK.

Everyone has the right to an opinion. I guess it just depends on how much weight you want to grant an opinion. I have my own opinion on David A. Here is the opinion of someone who should know something about witnessing live performances.

From the official John Lennon website, in an interview with Yoko Ono:

    Q: What did you make of à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“American Idolà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ contestant David Archuletaà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s version of à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Imagineà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ?

A: I thought it was fantastic.

    I agree with Yoko Ono

The distractingly piercing shrieks aside, Archie’s vocal caress of “The Christmas Song” is nothing short of astounding. I have a few favourite renditions of this song, including those of Nat King Cole, Natalie Cole and Karen Carpenter, and I’d rank Archie’s version right up there with them.

kept saying David’s name to make the girls scream. LOL.

    More great pics.

    Screencaps of A Thousand Miles.

Another interview with David at the Holiday of Hope tree lighting ceremony. He talks about not getting him anything for his birthday, taking salsa classes, recording Crush in Spanish, and New Year’s resolutions. He was very chatty again.

Nice reviews. Thanks gg. Allow me to highlight the parts discussing David…

    Boston Herald
But it was the men who stole the nightà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s screams. Leading up to the palpable pain of à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Crush,à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“American Idolà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ runner-up David Archuleta was all innocent, boyish grins and awestruck gratitude over how much fans love him. Which, judging by shrieks and declarations of love, is a lot.

    LowellSun
American Idol runner-up David Archuleta skipped onto the stage next. The crowd of mostly school-aged girls erupted in shrill screams as the clean-cut teen dream sauntered about the stage. Archuleta performed a solo cover of Vanessa Carlton’s “A Thousand Miles” before slipping into his debut hit single “Crush.” Glowing cell phones replaced the lighters of yesteryear as the crowd waved them to the rhythm in the dark arena.
