David Archuleta wound up his min-asian tour in Kuala Lumpur today, performing at the Stadium Negra in front of an enthusiastic throng. Check out the encore performance of his hit “Crush” that ends with David helping out behind the drum kit! My, he’s come a long way from the “outstretched hand” days of American Idol!

The tour had David traveling from Manila, Philippines, to Ho Chi Min City and Hanoi in Viet Nam to Malaysia, with screaming fans meeting him all along the way.

David performed and made appearances to promote the Asian release of his album The Other Side of Down and his memoir, Chords of Strength.

jennyl, ha! ha! I’m just really glad you had such a good time and came here to tell us. We’ve been listening to UStreams, checking twitter, watching You tubes etc. Nothing like a LIVE program though.

Congrats to David on a great tour! Loved the band and the way he let loose!

Now he needs to do a tour in the US. . . . .

David visited Jakarta, Indonesia and had a show there, too.
good thing, we are getting used to being neglected, or else..

LOL, I definitely remember the Jakarta concert since it was his first stop from this amazing Asian tour. He had one of the biggest welcoming there and he looked really great in his pink shirt . :) The fan blowing him at that show was great too. He really needed that fan at some of the other stops too since it was so dang hot. I wish he would of repeated that outfit instead of the brown jacket/grey shirt combo.

Oh well, it doesn’t matter because we are mesmerized by David’s voice and we could care less about what he wears. :)

David has improved a million times as a performer since idol. He definitely commands the stage when he is up there. Hopefully there will be a tour in the states too.

Yes, he’s come a long way since idol days and he’s getting better and stronger. Musically he’s also growing too. I can tell it by the band members with top notch skills he hand-picked. At the sound check, he commands the band and they work out together. Being known for his ever changing impromptu change-ups, the band watches /listens to him and accommodates his singing.

    jennyl,
I am glad you enjoyed the concert. We, US fans, haven’t seen this much free spirited David, so hopefully some surprise shows will come up before Christmas concerts he promised.

Well Singapore, the Philippines and Malaysia already knew it. But now Indonesia and Vietnam finally know it. Real deal, isn’t he? No tour yet, havn’t seen him since Christmas 2009 in San Francisco. Sitting next to a family from Hong Kong. Hopefully soon.

Yes, I’m very glad I went. Almost couldn’t make it because of the work schedule. He was very comfortable on the stage and with the songs he sang. All the emotions he poured out in singing, dancing and playing that piano was effortless and very natural. Even his banter was natural. He commanded the whole stage and not just one area. He connected with the audience and they loved it. There is strength in this boy. He did very well and was a pro :)

P.S. I really liked his cover of everybody wants to rule the world not just because he changed it up so well but somehow I felt he was singing the lyrics from his heart.

Seems like David had fun on his tour. Good for him :) I like that song Crush. That was a good one.

    jennyl,
Whenever I listen to Everybody Wants to Rule the World, I get goosebumps. He changed up the song a lot and it’s a message from him to the audience.

It’s interesting that almost all the articles criticize their local artists who opened for him; too much attention on appearances instead of vocals, too fancy costumes, many back-up dancers, etc. They praise that David’s show is all about vocal abilities and his heart through his music transferred to the hearts of audience. The audience, singing along and jumping/dancing throughout the show complained that his show (90min in Malaysia) was too short. haha.

^^ Jonnyk, it so funny that it’s the exact opposite here in the US for the most part. But hopefully the pendulum is starting to slowly swing back to focusing on actual singing and not all that other “stuff”. Those things in and of themselves are not a bad thing, I just think they shouldn’t be the main thing.
