Michael Johns and Carly Smithson

Check out the videos after the Jump!

CHEST BUMP AHEAD! Hee.

The Top 8 comment on the dreaded Wednesday:

Constantine and Gina Glocksen Interview the Top 8 backstage at Idol Gives Back:

Looks like Carly loves to hang on David C., and, MJ. Hmmmm. It also seems that Syesha is an outsider with the group. Maybe that’s what she meant when she said that Ramiele was the only one who “got” her.

  • http://www.xanga.com/hisaki_chan707 Hisaki

AWW! That first video was so funny. But that was probably going to be their last on-camera chestbump for a long while. :(

And is it bad that I thought it was absolutely cute when Cookie kind of side-bumped Carly and then she jumped him? I don’t know why, but I liked that moment almost more than the chestbump. LOL.

    *bricked*

Michael was my second favorite and I am so sad he didn’t get to perform any songs by Neil Finn, one of his musical idols (and mine). Maybe I’ll see him at the Crowded House concert at the Orpheum in May. Sorry, Michael, and I hope your dream comes true soon. You are a class act.

If Seacrest and Lythgoe had their own Dreyer’s American Idol ice cream flavor, it would be pralines and dick.

Wow, ArchuD2 is vertically challenged — like, Ramiele petite. It’s no big deal — no pun intended — but I never knew until the video with Constantine. Speaking of whom, Con can sure relate to Michael’s shocking elimination after a poorly received hard rock performance, can’t he? Except that Papa Johns isn’t an arrogant egomaniac — and I say that as a former Constantine fan (not a Con Con Girl, though) who still appreciates what he brought to the competition. Still, that could be an interesting interview.

Cookie is my new second favorite, but Jason gets all my votes as long as he’s still around. I’ve read that Jace is deliberately outsiderish, too. The Ford commercial clip indicates he’d rather nap than hang out. That will be hard to maintain on the tour bus. Do we have to wait for the tour to see him drumming? I heart that he bought a ukulele and taught himself to play one week before debuting his fledgling skills in front of an audience in the tens of millions.

Do we know if Jason’s mockery of Seacrest — “this … is American Idol” — was scripted or spontaneous?

  • 4got

Surly is so much more lovable on these clips. She needs a lot of body contact and keeps throwing herself at MJ & Cooks. I’ll have to rename her Hurley.

The others are cute too. The difference this season compared to last is they all want it so much.

Love seeing babbling Brooke when there’s no criticism. She cannot handle criticism. Wrong choice of profession?

Screechyesha is all about … Screechyesha.

  • primeminister

No kidding. Last season, we were lucky if we got anything close to a “moment” each week; this season, we’ve come to expect it- performances that are good and not brilliant are now called “off nights.”

If you can’t tell, I’m really enjoying Season 7. :)

  • Trina

The Michael & David friendship/antics/chestthumping will never get old. Those guys are gonna be such a hoot together on tour.

Looks like Carly loves to hang on David C., and, MJ.

I honestly don’t blame her LOL

  • 4got

I’m sure this is old but I came across this today.

    Jason’s webpage

    Under ‘Summary;:

This web page was created for my INFO 209 class. This class is
the best class at Texas A&M University. The instructor and the
teaching assistant are fabulous. I’m learning many things about
computers and information technology that I will use later on.
I am a Construction Science major and will graduate in 2009.
After graduation, I plan on pursuing a career in music. I plan
on making large donations to the College of Business in
gratitude for the great instruction I received in INFO 209.

‘After graduation….. :lol_tb: Now I know why I love him. My type of humor …

Awwwww, no more chest bumps for a long time. My heart is breaking. :glurps_tb:

ETA: That screencap is all kinds of beautiful.

Bwahahahahah!!! If this INFO 209 class is anything like my computer science class in college… just LOL.

Some Michael TV appearance news: he’ll be on Jay Leno tonight

  • baxter

Now why didn’t MJ show this kind of personality on the show. He could have won me over then. Unfortunately, all I saw was a good looking singer with about as much personality as a gnat.

    sniff….Chest bumps = LOVE…..you will be missed :cry_tb:

    Thanks, 4got!

  • bean99

Great clips from the show. Loved the chest bump. I think they’re going to miss Michael. That last bit of him singing his exit song made me sad again. :downer_ee:

  • baxter

heheheh…..Never thought I’d see MJ and Gene Simmons on the same stage. Cute Leno skit.

Jason was my favorite before but I love him even more now. Too funny.

LOL at Jason’s webpage summary, but what the heck page color is that, Jason?

  • vixen

does anyone have the video from AI extra that shows the aftermath of the results? i feel the need to torture myself with crying cookie. :(

and omg, jason likes jack’s mannequin?!?! he just won a ton of bonus points from me. andrew mcmahon = love.

David Cook busts his butt in front of the SYTYCD Dancers???

I watched the show. I didn’t see him cry. He looked sad and walked off stage.

  • http://myspace.com/saltwatercures pj

Okay, I now totally love Jason a tad bit more. His class “website” in all its terrible colors and OTT statements remind me that I think some of his comments on the show showed a sarcastic side. The pic alone is an indication of that. Thanks!

  • primeminister

LOL at Jasonà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s webpage summary, but what the heck page color is that, Jason?

Well, did you see his shirt on results night? lol

  • GwendolynD

does anyone have the video from AI extra that shows the aftermath of the results? i feel the need to torture myself with crying cookie. :(

Rickey has the crying video here.

Someone at AI enlarged a screencap. That’s here.

  • http://myspace.com/girlgeek mj

Ok. He’s a bit red eyed, but not sobbing. When I watched the video this morning, I was looking for him to be really crying…

  • jersey

Loved the video clips. I agree with whoever above said that if MJ had shown this much personality on the show, he would probably still be around. Also, his sing out performance of “Dream On”, although maybe not his best vocal, was I think, his best performance, because he got involved in the song – going out into the audience etc. He seemed more connected to that performance than to any of his others.

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/iamthepurplewalrus purplesmile

jersey, remember when you said I might be “jinxing” Jason saying at least Michael would still be there once Jason’s gone? I guess I didn’t, huh? But maybe I did Michael…ugh! :s

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/iamthepurplewalrus purplesmile

Well, did you see his shirt on results night? lol

I confess I didn’t notice Jason’s shirt then as when I watched replay of the delayed local broadcast of the show, I was much too distraught knowing Michael was leaving.

I did check out the videos again, though, a while ago and…Jason, what the heck was that, indeed, young man? LOL

  • Grammie Kari

and omg, jason likes jackà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s mannequin?!?! he just won a ton of bonus points from me. andrew mcmahon = love.

Vixen, unfortunately my dial-up service does not allow me to view a video. Can you tell me what this reference means? Thanks!

I actually think the greatest uproar came when Constantine was eliminated so early in the competition. The forums were on fire. People are very polite compared to that Results Show.

    Gotta love Jason.

  • sciencefan

Jason Castro had dinner with some family friends a couple of weeks ago. They asked if he needed prayer for anything. He told them that he’s really tired (because they work 15 hour days) so he could use prayer for that.

I can imagine that their schedule might be difficult for someone who is a low-energy person. I’m not surprised that he takes a power nap when he gets a chance.

As a fun-loving guy, I’m sure he’d hang out a lot more, if he had the energy to do it.

  • holeighannie

Grammie Kari: Andrew McMahon is the creator of the band Jack’s Mannequin, of which he is the main focus. He was also the lead singer of Something Corporate. His musical style is angsty piano-driven indie rock and it’s pretty much awesome, haha. Jason mentions Jack’s Mannequin as one of his favorite bands on his website, which is really cool.

Loved seeing Jason’s website, his sarcasm is hilarious. I think I like all of the Idols a little more after seeing that Idol Extra video. Except Syesha, she’s just too self-involved. I don’t care for David Cook, but even he seemed more genuine and they all seem to get along very well.

  • grayhound

Michael Johns in relaxed mode while singing = Potential to go all the way.

It breaks my heart for what coulda been.

WHY didn’t he move away from the mic during his performances? If he had just engaged the audience a little, we would be talking about someone else leaving this week.

    sad sigh.

  • http://myspace.com/saltwatercures pj

I did check out the videos again, though, a while ago andà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦Jason, what the heck was that, indeed, young man? LOL

He had to go thrifting because he spent his wardrobe money on the uke?

Seriously, do they get to keep the wardrobe money if they don’t spend it? Seems like that’s been his strategy all season.

  • http://www.xanga.com/hisaki_chan707 Hisaki

Ok. Heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s a bit red eyed, but not sobbing. When I watched the video this morning, I was looking for him to be really cryingà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦

I recorded the episode to watch for him really crying later, too, but apparently not. *sigh* Still haven’t seen the guy really cry his eyes out live, dangit…

Michael’s really showing a lot of class, especially since he said he’d never expected to be booted so early. He’s really growing on me now. It’s a shame that it’s starting to happen just when we won’t see him on the show anymore (on stage, anyway). :(

I think I like all of the Idols a little more after seeing that Idol Extra video. Except Syesha, sheà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s just too self-involved.

Aww, me too. All these extra videos are really fun to watch; we get to what the contestants are really like off-camera, unlike with last season. I even started liking Kristy a little after that video, and now I like Carly a lot. LOL.

Syshrieksha will never do anything for me, however…

My eyes went blind for a second on seeing Jason’s webpage. Hasn’t anyone taught him what colors NOT to use so that it doesn’t drive people away? Hah.

  • Metta

Devil’s Advocate checking in here. We have no idea how the clip of Syesha was edited. She could have told three other anecdotes of her experience answering the phones and yet that was the one they chose to go with. Also, it’s very likely that the idol (Kristy Lee?) who got that call for her was the one who brought it up first and she was asked to recount it. Again, we have no idea how it was edited.

I think it was tres cool that in one of his exit interviews, Michael revealed that Syesha was introverted but “hilarious” when you got to know her. This totally jibes with her comment about Ramiele. They were longtime roommates and that gave Syesha time to bond with her. People are different. Some will be your best friend from day one and others will be more guarded. Neither style is a reflection of character.

My favorites by a mile are actually Jason and Archie. But I think Syesha is getting a bum-rush to judgment, so I feel compelled to stick up for her. Not to mention that I think it’s GREAT that there’s still an R&B singer in the competition.

  • http://www.xanga.com/hisaki_chan707 Hisaki

Not to mention that I think ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s GREAT that thereà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s still an R&B singer in the competition.

She hasn’t been embracing that for the past few weeks, though — Syesha has been more or less doing diva-type songs that require lots of belting and faux-emoting. I’d probably like her more if she laid off the big songs for once and did something a little quieter, with more of an R&B flavor to it. Her belting and overly-practiced performances aren’t doing anything for me; rather, I’m turning away. :|

  • Metta

I respectfully disagree that all she does is belt and that her emoting is faux. She certainly has tackled non-diva songs. She don’t get no respect for those either. It’s all subjective. In any event, my post was addressing the way many have assigned a negative personality to her — not so much challenging peeps for not liking her performances.

    To each her own.

  • http://www.xanga.com/hisaki_chan707 Hisaki

@Metta: Well, your opinion is your own and I’m respecting the fact that you’re sticking up for her when she seems next in line for getting the axe. I do agree a little more now about getting “assigned” a bit of a self-centered personality, but we can’t really see every moment they’re off-camera so I doubt we’ll ever know for sure how she’s like.

  • jersey

I know you’re probably long gone by now but, Hi Metta! :bye_tb:

  • Metta

    Hi Jersey!!! :bye_tb:

  • abbysee

Metta, just cosigning what you said, again. Just as people are surprised about Michael John’s personality, I guess it would be surprising that Syesha was a nice kid. Maybe lacking a bit guarded or just cautious, but in fact a nice kid. It’s funny how we only trust the editing when it’s our folk being shown in a nice light.

I did love that both Michael John’s and Dave White of the Advocate both pointed to how good Syesha was on Inspiration night. So I wouldn’t go packing her bags just yet. The next few weeks could turn things topsy turvy!

  • http://www.davidcooktheamericanidol.com votefordavidcook
