David Archuleta Blogs – Crush Video Nearly Ready

The Idols have a day off today. In meantime, David Archuleta blogs:

Hey everyone. I’m here in Minnesota for our day off and am on my way to the airport for Wisconsin. I’ve been recording today, which is what I do on my days off lately haha. But I love it! It’s so much fun. Some recent things that have happened were our Minnesota show, and 2 Kansas City shows. All the crowds were amazing! And it was really special to be in Cook’s hometown.

Another thing that happened this week is that I got the rough cut of the ‘Crush’ video! It was so crazy to see a professional video done for me, and I can’t wait for you guys to see it. It was cool watching how a video comes together right from the beginning of the video treatment and hearing the idea of the director, to seeing it come to life with the cameras, cast, and music haha. It’s still hard having to watch yourself, but you have to make sure everything looks good for everyone to see haha. I’m getting a little better with that though.

On a more serious matter, I just want to make sure we remember everyone in the South who are dealing with the storms down there. My family in Florida have struggled quite a bit with hurricane experiences and it’s always a scary thing. So just remember to keep them in your prayers and hope the best for them.

And we are praying for those folks down in the Gulf States who are going through Gustav. God be with them through this, and God be always with you as you continue stepping into your destiny.

    I’m very curious to see how the Crush video turns out. I hope it’s good! This must be so exciting for him.
    And that was so nice of him to write about those in the storms down south. He is very thoughtful.

    I agree ggdoorsfan, he really is a class act. My thoughts go out to all those affected by Gustav and it’s aftermath. Word has it that a levee in a parish in LA is compromised. I wish all in the storms path safety.

    I can’t wait for this video. I think it’s going to be adorable and send even more girls in fangirl heaven.

    One of the fans who met him in KC said that he said the video was a bit “corny” and that he didn’t get to pick the girl (I’m guessing he was implying that he would have picked someone different…though I don’t know that for a fact, obviously).

    He’s always kinda hard on himself anyway….
    Heres the recap that came from, and another one about it as well.

    “So then I ask him about the music video for Crush and when it is coming out. He said, “I don’t know! I heard today they were starting to work on editing and everything.” I said, “Oh really? I really want to see it!” “Yeah, it’s kind of corny though. I mean I didn’t get to pick the girl. She’s really cool though, she’s kind of like me.” I told him how I saw the pictures and how I wanted to see it and he goes, “Yeah, I just hope people like it.”

    David was talking about going to watch the cut when I met him out at the buses, and he really didn’t seem to totally understand what was going on :lol_wp: I think he’s still pretty shocked that it’s actually happening. I will say that he was really excited to go watch it, but not so excited that he left without talking to all of his fans :wub_tb: He was out for about two hours :mellow_tb: And for at least one of those the handlers were trying to get him inside to go watch the cut

    Wow, that’s pretty candid, I mean about him not getting to pick the girl and all. Imagine a bunch of girls being bought to him……. girl number one step forward please…..girl number two etc. I am sure he didn’t want that pressure, or did he? LOL!

    I’m sure he was just talking and didn’t mean to imply anything about “picking the girl.” Maybe someone had just asked if he especially liked her or could have a “crush” on her and he felt like he had to basically say that she was an actress picked by the director, not him. You know, people will buy into the whole fantasy of this video when it comes out and want to believe that they are a couple when they don’t even know each other really.

    I doubt that he was “allowed to pick the girl and . . . then the director stepped in and made this other blonde girl the lead.” He didn’t meet any of those actors until the day of the shoot. I read a quote from the other girl, who is brunette, who said that she thought she was cast as the lead and then found out that it was another girl. Probably she was proposed as the lead by a local casting director, and then the casting was changed by the director of the video.

    Re: corny–it might be but he may be just saying that b/c he’s a bit embarrassed. Imagine making a little movie at age 17 where you have to “act” infatuated with someone. He’s never acted before. I bet his fans love it. Looking forward.

    I’m not surprised that he called it corny. I remember how much anxiety he had coming out of the Z100 studios in NY and wondering what his fans thought about the Crush debut and whether they liked it or not.

    Imo, he has a tendency to underestimate himself…..a lot!

    Actually, when I saw the pictures of the video shoot I was wondering about the ‘corniness’ factor. I hope producers don’t feel the need to go too juvenile because of his age. Suzanne I agree with you 100%. People read all kinds of things into every little thing he says that probably mean nothing.

    What a sweetheart. Seriously, how many 17-year-old kids would even think about taking time out to remember those affected by the hurricanes? Just love him. I’ve said it before – Season 7 = the best evah.
