Davidà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s AOL Sessions are stunningà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦. there can be no doubt after listening to these five songs that he is a masterclass vocalist live, and in studio.. songs that I was a little on the fence about like My Hand have now moved into serious like after watching him sing themà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦ he brings great energy to these songs, and his natural charisma just draws you in and refuses to let you take your eyes off him for even a second as he singsà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦ ALTNOY has HIT written all over it, and I am eagerly awaiting its official release so I can do all I can to support ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦. You Canà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦ just no wordsà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦. the spare arrangement is tailor made for him, and those gorgeous warm tones and falsetto are enough to weaken your kneesà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦ David is the real deal, and these sessions are just a taste of what we fans have in store when he begins to tourà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦ Gotta find a way to get to one of those Jingle Balls :)

  • sue

What a great Thanksgiving surprise from Archie. He sounds terrific, even better than I expected. He looks fabulous as well. I love AOL Sessions, the quality is superb.

  • ggdoorsfan

And may I add that he looks so grown up and mature in these sessions… the “little kid” from AI is being transformed before our eyes into a young man of depth… Bye Archie…. Hello David Archuleta.

  • soundscene

He sounds incredible! I know they mix the sound, but I’ve seen Sessions where the performer is, how should I say it, “off.” Or pitchy. lol. But David is just right on. I love the little changes he’s made to each song. I want a live album from David, stat. I think I’ve forgotten how good he is live.

  • sue

“I think Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ve forgotten how good he is live.”

I was thinking the same thing soundscene, he is so darn good live. Dang it, these AOL sessions are addicting. He draws you into each song and I like how he gets into the song. I am in heaven right now. WE have been waiting soooooooooo long for these sessions and David did not disappoint. WOW! I have to go watch them again. lol.

  • hypertwink

I can’t see it but the one that I could watch (“You Can” on Rickey’s) sounded like he had a cold. Still pretty, mind you, but it was a little muffled. Or maybe, that could just be the video.

ETA: Oh if anyone else has a link to somewhere international fans can watch, please do post. Thanks.

  • soundscene

^^ Could have been the sound quality of the stream.

  • leome

AOL does not approve international people, once again.
If these end up somewhere else, could anyone point the way, please?

  • soundscene

I think they’re up on youtube now (or most of them). I think some international folks can switch the time on their computers to a US time zone and view the videos, but I’m not sure it works for everybody.

  • leome

    ^ Thanks soundscene.
I had never heard the time trick, but gonna try that one.

  • frogcooke

Yeah Ive heard the time trick works for some. Dont remember if that was aol or not haha

They sound really nice on my stream. and I luuurrrveee luuurrveeeee TMH!

  • primeminister

Not a fan of Archuleta on the show and thought some of his live performances of “Crush” was a bit off…but I love the song and the AOL performances. He was pitch perfect! And while he usually has some trouble going up to his falsetto, he must be working on it because it was pretty smooth sailing in these videos. “Touch My Hand” also wasn’t as tedious to listen to live.

  • frogcooke

ah hahahahaha at the interview vid talking aobut cook how they are different and doing their own thing.. LOL

    He was all like:
im not all rawking out on the guitar, rawwrr
and he’s not all wooOOOoohh or what ever I do when I sing.

    LOL LOL

  • E

The studio recordings don’t do David or the songs justice. He is soooo good live! incredible awesome falsettto.

TMH, My Hands, ALNTOY, love the tweaks and little changes. Love these more after this live session. You Can is pretty. Crush is good as I’ve heard it several times now so I’m more impressed with the others.

The band is great, love the back up vocals they did.

Yeah I want a recorded live album as well! You hear me Jive? lol

  • ggdoorsfan

To paraphrase a quote from David Cook… as I see it now relating to David A —> ” Love him or hate him, but you cannot ignore him”… David has that “it” or X factor that will continue to draw analysis, commentary and intense scrutiny of his work from all corners throughout his career. The promise of greater things, the versatility in his vocals cannot be denied… and it makes one eager to see where he’s going to take us next.

True, he will never be everyone’s cup of tea, but one thing is for certain – in his understated manner, these AOL sessions will lay to rest any doubt about his ability to deliver and connect to a much wider audience than the “teen” crowd the media has for now thrust upon him. This older fan is content to allow him all the time and albums he needs to continue maturing and growing into the artist he is destined to be…the promise of what I’ve witnessed in these AOL sessions, and when he was on tour this summer, is all the proof I need.

  • E

My fav is the “not over it” in ALNTOY chorus. Love the harmony with the band vocals there :D

  • shell29

I’m very impressed with how much Archie has grown as a performer. Both he and the band sounded fantastic. All of the performances were great, but my favorites were ALTNOY, You Can, and Touch My Hand. I like TMH a lot more now. I still don’t think it should ever see the light of day as a radio single, but I think that song will be a big hit at his future concerts.

My only disappointment? No Barriers. :sad_tb: Oh well.

  • soundscene

^^ LOL. I know. Barriers is love. That song would be amazing live.

  • PCdoctor

Absolutely brilliant!!! thanks for linking these vids.

David and the band sounded great!

  • RV65

Is it weird that David A sounds better live? he’s really hitting those high notes now with much ease……………great album!

  • abbysee

Okay, let’s just ignore that I adore the kid. If you’ve read Mj’s over the past 8 months you know this kid just moves me, (channeling my inner Paula, lol). But all of that aside, the kid just kicks ass. ALTNOY ( aka, altoids, from some funny mj’er) is the SHI^. That song has mega hit written all over it. He nails it so completely, I just can’t gush enough. I loved them all, but he took a rather pedestrian (though very cool) song, TMH and got into it, committed to it so fully, that he elevated to something truly special. He truly is David Archuleta, gotta start remembering that.

I also liked that by the end of the sessions, his tie was askew, and he looked like he had aged a few years, matured, I guess. When he sings, he isn’t 17, more like 25. He is not only a singer, he is an entertainer. To say he is syrupy or irrelevant in pop music is no longer relevant.

Going to play games with my kids, then I will watch again. I can’t wait.

  • RV65

    “When he sings, he isnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t 17, more like 25.”

Its truly facinating how he morphs into this “confident, older soul” the moment he holds that microphone…………just wow.

  • ggdoorsfan

Weird, but kinda genius as well RV65… David live will blow the minds of those who have only heard him sing in studio recordings/releases…. that is his secret weapon, and one thing that sets him apart from so many current acts in pop and other genres – he can deliver live… Straight up, no chasers wanted nor needed in a live setting for this young man to put his artistry across….

  • IdolFanatic

Amazing….simply stunning! He still closes his eyes a lot, but I don’t mind. I never even thought of it until ALW pointed it out. Lots of singers do that. Anyway, he’s fantastic!

  • cruzceleste

Youtube for my hands the same user has the other songs up…

    PS.

International fans, if you adjust the time to US or hide your IP with hidemyip.com can see them

  • Jabkmc

IdolFanatic – Don’t get me started on ALW. He’s on my shit list for that. Grrrr! No one ever mentioned it until he did. Now that’s all anyone can talk about. Just about every singer out there does that…but now all of a sudden its a defect or something. See…you got me started. haha!

Love this from the AOL sessions…

After making it through an entire season of ‘American Idol,’ where he finished as the runner-up to David Cook, 17-year-old David Archuleta is at home in front of the camera. Despite performing most of his AOL Sessions songs today, including the sure to be audience favorite ‘Touch my Hand,’ for the first time, and his hit single, ‘Crush,’ for just the second time, Archuleta nails the songs like a seasoned vet. When he sits down, however, to talk to AOL about Cook, being on both side of the fan/artist relationship and his friendship with Jordan Sparks, Archuleta is the happy, go-lucky teenager that reflects his age. It’s both refreshing and contagious.

    For real!

BTW, David is #1 on both Celebrities and Musicians on XRank today.

  • RV65

^^i agree ggdoorsfan…………..i said weird (in a good sense, if there can be a good sense) because most artists sound excellent in recordings but just “meh” live……….wish they would do a similar session for the bonus tracks…….works for me, somebody out there, waiting for yesterday (e ey e ey e ey)………..and most specially……..YOUR EYES DONT LIE…….lol………

  • khomphuong

today’s pop singers need to learn from this kid. This Kid sings live simply amazing. Damn…He doesn’t need all those freaking studio technology to help him w/ his voice. in fact, he can do better without it.

  • soundscene

BTW, David is #1 on both Celebrities and Musicians on XRank today.

Crush also moved from #30 to #20 today on iTunes. So far… may move up more. The album version of the song also moved up on pop, and both versions of the album moved up as well.

  • cruzceleste

Ok… I just got back from my brother ´s house… so far I have watched MH, ALTNOY, YC, and let me said this…. call me “PUMA” I ´m in love… he isjust f***** awesome… ALNTOY is a hit, My hands sounds amazing live, You Can is just so beautiful and romantic…. ahhh!!!!!!!!!

(Note: yes I think I finally lost my mind)

ETA: TMH is so much better live than the record version, David Archuleta live is the way to go…

  • tomsuzuki

i was a sceptic when it came to ‘Touch My Hand’, primarily because the title is way too in your face “this is a concert song” in addition to the fact that the lyrics aren’t very developed didn’t help either.

i watched crush first (youtube for me, FansOfDavid has them all) and was bracing for a dissapointing session, he didn’t screw it up exactly but sounded a bit flat, then you realize (remember) that this is post ford day but pre-leno that he filmed these sessions and he has totally worked out the kinks.

‘Touch My Hand’ leaped out for a variety of reasons but early in the song it was that david seemed to really commit to the song, then towards the end when he does that loooong falsetto, my jaw dropped and i uttered “holy sh*t” out loud, i am still not convinced that ‘Touch My Hand’ is a radio hit but david sure does perform the heck out of it.

i have the album and all the songs (forgive me for “buying” works for me on the internet, i paid for 3 copies of the album – 1 deluxe, 1 downloaded normal and 1 physical copy) and while i was happy with it in general, was just a little bit disappointed, there was something just a bit off that i convinced myself had to do with the songs more than anything else. after watching these clips, i now know that it was all the damn techno tweeks they inserted into the album tracks that were missing from the sessions that were bugging me.

i have read some argue that david is better live than in studio and can accept some of the arguments, i do however feel that it isn’t david himself that is lacking in the studio but all the crap they add into the songs when he is there that makes the songs feel lacking.

  • JudyOhio

Ok, I am blown away by how good he sounded on AOL sessions, simply blown away. I wasn’t sure how most of those songs would translate live, and I actually like them better live. The backup vocals have improved considerably and compliment Archie quite well. And, I’m sorry, but this live music just does NOT sound like “bubblegum pop” to me at all (imo)! Mature approach, mature lyrics.

I’m curious what you think of the songs live MJ. Would love to hear your opinion should you get time.

I hope a lot of people hear this. I think they’d be surprised regarding perception versus reality.

    Bravo David!

  • Lexus

After seeing the AOL performances, ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s evident that David has transitioned seamlessly into a master class performer since Idol. Wow! He just oozed confidence as he flowed from one song into another like a seasoned artist. It was actually hard to believe that he was singing these songs live for the first time. Dare I say I favored these versions to those on the album? Of course, the visual of David singing them added to the appeal. Touch My Hands was my favorite of the AOL bunch though YEDL still remains my ultimate favorite song from the album, followed by Barriers. Both have huge hit potential. If anyone had any concerns about Davidà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s future in the industry following the AOL performances, I think ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s safe to say those doubts have been laid to rest.

Thereà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s a newfound self assurance and maturity in David. I still donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t know that the public à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‹getsà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ him. Many continue to see him as just a young, awkward, naà ¯ve teenager, easily led by his father, but I think that in some ways heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s wiser than a lot of us. He has a very solid value system and heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ll never compromise his principles. Heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s very much attuned to what will work for himà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦and what will not work for him. He trusts his own instincts and doesnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t get caught up in the hype. He himself has said heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s envisioned how all of this would play out in his dreams. I donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t think ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s a coincidence that he finds himself where he is today. He has an enormous talent that deserves to be shared with the world.

  • cruzceleste

Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m curious what you think of the songs live MJ. Would love to hear your opinion should you get time.

LK08 …interview 6……you have to click on all David clips to able to see the interviews.

  • RV65

“GG- Which Cook interview is that from?”

would there be a link?……….also where do you watch the AOL interview?

  • E

Yes,my only disappointment, YEDL and Barriers were not among the songs performed live LOL but I am patient.

  • JudyOhio

Same here E….I guess this means we’ll have to buy a concert ticket at a later date to get the whole enchilada, lol

  • spencer

I detect that these sessions have left some “speechless” :-) )

  • E

And just to chime in, this is no performance of a typical teen pop or teen star whatever you call it.

There’s a reason why he is getting a lot of buzz. David is one of those people that others just have to throw their opinion, love or hate him. The different David Archuleta, the awkward teenager and the 25 year old performer, there’s so much to talk about and analyse… There’s a lot of material in there, isn’t that what a true star is all about?

I keep repeating ALNTOY :D and live TMH is awesome! lol

  • JudyOhio

Btw, how many people usually view these AOL sessions? You know, about how many people will see DA in these by the time they are done running?

  • clee1107

I’m kinda late. Once I found this AOL sessions, I gave my twilight tickets my friend and have watched these. wow…I made a right decision. This young man keeps amazing me. Speechless. I cannot wait to hear these songs @ jingle balls jams whatever. David! You’re real!!

I couldn’t agree with you more. I have always felt a bit frustrated that some people still choose to judge David from the AI stereotypes put out about him during AI and since. As has happened already to many people during the tour and since, he is turning heads and changing minds as people hear him sing. He is a phenomenal singer and musician, and a phenomenal and strong person. I can’t wait until more people “get” him.

I just listened to the sessions and they couldn’t have been better. He is WOW! And the band is fabulous!

  • Tatiana

I’m so proud of David. Watching these performances you can see how far he’s come from Idol, and how hard he’s worked. Also I love the maturity he brings to his performances – the stage persona he is developing is in no way teeny-bopper. He is going to make a lot of new fans during those Jingle Balls!!!

  • gerreb

aaaah, i’ve been waiting for this to be up!!!

Wow, wow, wow!! David sounds AMAZING! Pitch perfect! He truly has remarkable vocals! These songs sound better than i even expected them to sound live! And he looked so handsome :)

and Archie boy, you work that camera!! :)

  • RV65

LOL i wonder if its only me…I tried to sing along with Archie and I was exhausted after My Hands…lol…how does he do it….or maybe its just because I can’t sing?

  • RV65

David and the Dang-its really did well………..

  • soundscene

^^ LOL. The “Dang-Its”? Is that what we’re calling his band?

  • RV65

    LOL…I just read that somewhere………….

  • Jabkmc

haha! T-shirts must be made and given to the guys at one of the Jingle Balls. Dang-It #1 thru #5. LOL!

  • sabby_rina

Holy fish sticks! His performances are freaking amazing! I’m blown away!

  • E

David and the Dang-Its, is that the name of the band? lol

  • cruzceleste

    David & and The Dang Its…. lol….

I want David to made a vlog and introduce them to us…

    would there be a link?à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦.also where do you watch the AOL interview?

    Link to performances.

    Link to interviews.

There is also a typed interview under the tab “The Story” which I’ve copied below. Please note that the questions and answers in the video interview are different from the Q&A below (except for a couple of questions). So be sure to check both of them out.

Which ‘Idol’ contestant were you most excited to meet?

There’s not one person I can really think of that I didn’t feel [excited], because it’s just like, “I’ve listened to you and I love your songs, or I’ve watched you before and now you’re right here.” It’s just weird and sometimes your jaw drops. When you listen to them so much, you kind of forget that they’re real people.

Have you had that experience yet where someone comes up to you, and they have that same response you’re talking about?

Yeah, it’s always weird when people start crying when they meet you ’cause you just feel like same David Archuleta that you’ve always been. I always got confused when people don’t say anything. But then you have that same experience with other people. I went to a Jason Mraz concert and we got to meet him after the show, and I had that moment where it was just like, “Um, uh.” I can’t believe this because Jason Mraz is one of my favorite singers ever, and there he was and he’s so nice and friendly. I didn’t know what to say, I felt so stupid.

Is there one person you’ve learned a lot from in terms of how they handle their career?

With the whole ‘American Idol’ show, everyone on that show really understands how it feels. It’s just been cool how we all kind of started with no one really knowing us, and moving along to an awful lot of people knowing who you are. So, like, Cook, probably knows it more than anyone else because he was with me all the way to the end. But someone I talk to a lot is Jordan Sparks. She went through the same thing and she understands what I’m going though. She understood school, because no one else this season had school except for me. We hung out a week ago. We were in Connecticut, and we just hung out and talked, and it was cool. It’s nice to see that someone my age can still be normal in this whole thing. I really look up to Jordan for that. I mean, she’s had a great career so far and she’s an amazing singer and she’s handled it really well.

How do you feel about the dueling Davids? Cook vs. Archuleta?

Even on the show I wasn’t really competitive with Cook, so that’s what’s so funny. I was like, “I’m just happy to be here getting to sing.” And I’ve always wished the best for him and nothing but that. People always want to compare you. I’m kinda doing my own thing, he’s kinda doing his own thing, and we’re both pretty different. I’m not here rocking out on the guitar going “Grawr,” and he’s not singing “laaaaa” the way I do. We’re buddies now — we’ve always been buddies — and it doesn’t seem like there’s that rivalry. I know the albums are coming out close to each other but that’s just because we had the same time frame; we both came off the show at the same time.

As an artist you got to collaborate with a lot of really great people, and I know you wrote a song with JC Chasez. Talk about some of the people you learned a lot from, and what it meant to you as an artist to be around all these people.

It’s crazy to think that I’m working with these people. Like, JC — he’s someone who’s done a lot before with *NSync. I was like, “I wonder what he’s going to be like. Is he going to be stuck up, ’cause he’s been really successful in the past?” But I couldn’t believe how cool of a guy he was. He was just so easy going and really great to work with.

When we were starting you had a couple questions you were looking back and asking, your dad. How much does it help having your father around to guide your career?

It’s really important to have someone there who has raised you and understands how you are, what your motives are in life and your morals. It’s been really good to have my dad there and the rest of my family just to remind me of what’s important, and to not forget what I love about this. I don’t wanna get too into the world of entertainment and media. And they’ve helped with that. Also, just with life, too — they’re the ones who taught me about it. They’re the ones who’ve helped me become who I am now.

What was the first album you remember that just blew you away?

It’s hard to pick just one. When I was a little kid, like six, I watched this tenth anniversary ‘Les Miserables’ tape, and I couldn’t stop watching it. And then, the next thing was probably the first season of ‘American Idol.’ Tamayra Gray, she was the first person to sing in the semi-finals, and it was the first time I ever really saw someone perform. She had so much emotion it was just amazing, and I learned a ton from that. I could feel what she was feeling when she sang, and I just thought, “I wanna do that.” The first album that ever really did that to me was probably a Natalie Cole album, with great songs like ‘This Will Be,’ ‘Inseparable,’ ‘Pink Cadillac.’ I’m not quite sure why but I just loved that album and it was one of the most influential albums ever on me.

  • ozarka

By the way, I absolutely loved everything about his performances. He was amazing in each of the songs. The band and the backup vocals were surprisingly good too. They are going to do very well with the Jingle Balls and the tour early next year. I’m so proud of David.

  • qbaloo

I can’t stop watching the AOL session videos! With each listen, I catch some nuance in the vocals that I missed before. David live is absolutely stunning, and the arrangements are so much better than the album versions..they are much less ‘poppy’. The harmonies at the end of My Hands really elevates that song, and TMH actually rocks! It certainly doesn’t seem like this is the first/second time performing these songs live; he really delivers them. You Can was particularly moving.

  • ozarka

It certainly doesnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t seem like this is the first/second time performing these songs live; he really delivers them.

That was my impression too. All five sessions were so polished that they did not seem like the first or second time they’ve performed these songs together. David is awesome live!

  • houstonrufus

Wow. I can’t believe how confident he sounds here after such a short time. I can’t wait to hear some of these songs at the jingle jam in Houston. The band sounds awesome, too. The songs have more of a pop/rock sound live which really works. I’m a fan, of course, but I’m very impressed. His voice sounds awesome. His ability to almost always be perfectly on pitch still amazes me. Well done, David!!!!

  • Virginia5

I’m guessing Jive didn’t release these sessions before the album or earlier on b/c it is just so good and they wanted us to appreciate his album before blowing us away with the live version. Because WOW, I am totally loving the sessions and can’t stop playing them. He is so impressive live (didn’t we all know that) and I’m just as impressed with his band, who does a great job rocking up the versions as well as providing excellent backup vocals for David!

Crush is up to 19 again!!!!! Go!!!! also the Deluxe version of the album wheb to 55 it was at 60… Go David Archuleta….

“Review” from Neonlimelight Blog of David sessions:

AOL sessions has been on fire lately delivering performances from some of Neon Limelightà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s favorites like Michelle Williams, David Cook, Beyonce and now David Archuleta. Archie took the stage and performed a number of songs off his self-titled debut album such as first single Crush, brand new second single A Little Too Not Over You, My Hands, Touch My Hand and one of my absolute favorites You Can. Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m a little disappointed that he didnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t perform Running but the disappointment faded the second he opened his mouth to sing. Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m in awe of how talented he is. Check it out! Youà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ll love this one!

    Still watching TMH

  • RV65

dean kaelin in his interview over at countingdavidscharacter said that the male voice settles at age 30 to 35….he gave his professional opinion that David’s voice will continue to become deeper and richer……….so he has yet to peak?…OH BOY!

I see several posters asking where the AOL sessions are, and several posters replying with links to the sessions?

I posted a link to the AOL sessions in my article above. I checked it…it seems to be working.

  • frogcooke

I got these as mp3s on my ipod now, and honestly, had i just downloaded these and not know about the videos… Id SWEAR they were studio versions.

  • qbaloo

I’m with ya frogcooke. I usually listen to any audio from the net with my acoustic noise cancelling headphones, and David’s vocals on the AOL sessions are absolutely perfect. The band and sound mix is very, very good too.

    New Blog

    Happy Thanksgiving

Hey Guys! Just wanted to say that I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving!! We were in New York this week, and I had a blast! Yesterday was the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and that was really exciting. I was on the Green Dog float, and there were tons and tons and tons of people on the sides. It was pretty chilly too, but I heard that it was a really nice day compared to previous years haha. I bundled and layered up as much as I could though. I sang Crush near the end, and a couple of songs played during our time going down the streets. And there’s a mouse in here. Sorry I know that was random, but I can hear it wandering around and it keeps squeaking. I didn’t think there would be mice here but I guess there are… But anyway. Some kids from the PBS show Fetch were on my float too, and they were really nice kids. I also got to meet a bunch of other people who were in the parade, and it was really great getting to meet and talk with them. Miranda Cosgrove from iCarly was there too, and it was really cool to see and talk to her again. The sad thing is that I didn’t have my camera or phone with me, so I didn’t get to take my own pictures. Someone that worked there was nice enough to let me borrow their camera though before the parade started and I took pictures on my float, and on the Foster’s Home For Imaginary Friends float! I know I’m such a dork but that’s my favorite cartoon lol. I was so excited to see it because it wasn’t too far behind me. But they were going to send me the pictures sometime soon.
The night before Thanksgiving, my mom and I went to see the musical In The Heights, and it was pretty much PHENOMENAL. It is seriously like one of my favorite musicals now. It was great that my mom was able to come to this particular musical too because it’s full of Latin music. So we had a great time with that, and also got to meet some of the cast members from it. I definitely recommend it if you ever get the chance to see it! The cast from the musical was also in the parade and did a number. Oh, the night before we saw the musical, my mom and I watched Twilight. I never read the books but a bunch of my friends are really into it, and the movie’s been getting a bunch of hype so we decided to go see it. I actually really liked it. The weird thing is when we walked into the theater Crush was playing so we walked back out because it was so weird haha. But anyway my blogs always get insanely longer than I intend for them to be, so I’ll end for today. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

P.S. It was really fun to see all the signs you guys made during the parade! haha

Songs for the day: Decode – Paramore (From the Twilight Soundtrack) It shows just how great of a singer Hayley is.

I guess this means Archie is team Twilight sads

I just read that on his myspace. LOL, was the mice in the hotel? Gross! I use to live in Brooklyn when I was like 5 and I remember seeing rats in the subways and different buildings. I been back to NYC several times and I still see rats and mice, it creeps me out. The metro in D.C. is so much cleaner. Well they don’t sell food down in the subways there. Well NYC is fun but really crowded. I love Archie’s blogs, he is always keeping his fans up to date about everything he does. How did he go to the movies without getting mobbed, lol. That’s funny that “Crush” was playing when he walked into the theater, he still has a hard time listening to himself.

I just watched the sessions again, he is just so darn good live. Bravo!

  • abbysee

I live in Brooklyn, and yep, we have mice, and rats. Especially if you live closer to the water, and we have lots of water…..and then that Manhattan being an island and all that, lot of water, anyway, enough randomness. I was in Manhattan, in the theater district one evening after having seen a play and was walking to the restaurant we were going to eat. There are alot of residential buildings and highrises in the area, and in one of the lobby’s of the building, walking around like he owned the place was the biggest ass rat I have ever seen, and like I said I live in Brooklyn and I have seen some rats in my day. Especially in the subways. This one must have been on steroids. The only thing I could think of was someone coming home after a night out and walking into their lobby to that. I would have started packing that evening, lol. David should do the same. If he complains hard enough he might have his stay compted (sp?). Somehow I think he won’t. He should though.

As for those Sessions, I can’t stop watching. He’s an incredibly talented young man. And yes I wan’t names on the Dang It’s, because they are pretty damn good.

  • tinawina

So I am fat, happy and stuffed with leftover turkey right now. LOL. I decided to check back in to idol blog ville, and what’s waiting for me? Archie AOL sessions! He sounded great! His next single is gonna kill. I just love that kid. He’s too cute for words. :) I don’t watch his stuff that often but I’m glad I watched this. Even that weird My Hands songs sounds good live. Ha. You Can was pretty. I like what he was wearing too. Happy Back Friday everyone!

One trick for international fans to watch AOL sessions

Change the TIME ZONE by double clicking your computer clock (usually found at the bottom-right corner of your PC/laptop; for mac users, usually at the top-right corner) to a US-related zone – that should do the trick

TMH live w/ more strings — woo-hoo!!! You Can is absolutely divine. ALTNOY & MH are hits in the making. Great album from a superb artist and remarkable individual.

    Sooooo proud of him :)

  • abbysee

*Waves to jackryan4DA* Thanks for noting that for us, lol. I hope everyone gets a chance to watch these Sessions. It’s good stuff. I am one happy girl, fridge full of delicious goodies and so much great music to keep me happy until the next great music!

  • ozarka

I love Archie’s blogs. He gets to talking about the most random stuff, like mice in the room. Hahaha! And the thing about walking into the movie theater, hearing Crush being played, and then walking out because it was too weird. That’s just too hilarious.

Miranda Cosgrove from iCarly was there too, and it was really cool to see and talk to her again.

Celeste, do you suppose there’s sumpin’ sumpin’ going on between those two? LOL! Personally though, I think the other girl from that iCarly show, the blond one, Jeanette, is a better match for him. Hehehe!

I hope he vlogs to us on Sunday or Monday when he’s at the set of his video shoot of ALTNOY, the same way he did for Crush.

  • http://myspace.com/pm68 Pam

Loved the AOL sessions. These songs do sound great live. :)

Celeste, do you suppose thereà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s sumpinà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ sumpinà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ going on between those two? LOL! Personally though, I think the other girl from that iCarly show, the blond one, Jeanette, is a better match for him. Hehehe!

Ladies and Gentleman we are having a three way fight over our Archie:
    Jordin vrs Miranda vrs Jeanette

Jordin- They will both have beautiful singing babies, they both understand each other…

Miranda- Beautiful dark haired babies (can ´t come out with nothing here)… she seem really mature, and she actually kind of sings (soundtrack of iCarly)

Jeanette- Beautiful rambling babies…and she is a big fan girl… and she is so much fun in the program…

    lol IÂ ´m having fun…

Sorry Ozarka, I love Jorvid, and Jeanette is fun but Miranda and David look so cute together in pictures than this one gets my vote…

  • frogcooke

BTW Altnoy got its first spin today!

  • Aladdin88

Wow, I was rather pleasantly surprised by the AOL sessions. I’ve been watching several of the others beforehand just to get a feel for what to expect and so I wasn’t expecting much beyond the typical run-of-the-mill TV talk show live performance. I’m glad I was proven wrong. David sounds amazing on these songs! I agree with so many others here that he just kills it when he sings live. He’s so pitch-perfect here that at times I wondered if he was lip-synching, but then he’d insert one of his signature song variations I soon realized he’s just plain awesome.

    Great job David!!!

ETA: Lexus, I really liked your post about how people perceive David and how he just kind of does what works for him. In fact, that’s why I think “Works For Me” is my favorite song he’s written–he’s admitted it’s autobiographical and I kind of view it as his own personal way of telling the haters to shove it…as nicely as possible, of course. After all, this is David we’re talking about. ;)

  • soundscene

BTW Altnoy got its first spin today!

And second! And maybe third if we can confirm another spin report. Yay for WKZY in Gainesville, FL.

BTW, stll listening to these sessions. If I don’t watch the video, and listen through my earphones, it’s hard to tell it’s live. lol.

  • sue

The sound mixing on the AOL session is flawless. A lot of people can’t believe it is actually live, he sounds so darn good. I wonder how many takes it took for Archie to record these? I know he is singing live because of all the little changes he makes in each song. I love all his high notes and falsettos, wow. I didn’t care for My Hands that much until now. I absolutely love it. There are parts in that song that totally sound different from the cd. I love his bopping and dancing when he gets into the song, it is too cute. I find myself bopping with him, lol. His solo tour will be incredible if he keeps this up. Yeah we still want to know the band members names and history? I like the drummer and lead guitarist. :)

  • frogcooke

Sue, fansofdavid.com has info on the band member is you are looking :)

  • sue

Thanks frog that was cool, I like George Dum who plays the drums. I am such a dork, lol. They are all really talented guys that have worked with various artist in the industry. No wonder they were so good on the AOL sessions. These sessions are just too good to be true. I hope Archie’s sales jump this week. :)

  • JudyOhio

I asked this question somewhere, but I don’t remember where and nobody saw it or knew. So, I’m going to ask it again just in case someone knows the answer.

Does anyone know around how many people see these AOL sessions and what is it’s impact?

  • soundscene

Does anyone know around how many people see these AOL sessions and what is ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s impact?

It really depends. Some AOL Sessions get put on iTunes (the audio, usually not the video), so they have more impact. And some AOL Sessions get put on TV On Demand by cable companies. They won’t have as much impact as a TV performance, but they have a small impact if the videos get spread a bit online.

  • JudyOhio

Does AOL know how many hits David’s particular sessions have gotten? Do they know if they watch the whole thing? And is there anyway to find out how many times it has been viewed? I have wondered if they have “the numbers” on that because, curious person that I am, I’d love to know, lol.

One last thing, I’m still wondering if you have seen the AOL sessions MJ and would love to hear your opinion on David, the band, etc. I like your opinions because most usually they are objective and even academic at times, and I enjoy that angle.

  • soundscene

Still watching these over and over. They’re awesome. David’s voice is simply incredible. And after watching some of the other AOL Sessions from other artists I can appreciate even more how amazing he did.

  • cruzceleste

Soundscene, I heard you… My Hands and ALNTOY are so awesome I have them in replay…

  • E

I’m stuck to this AOL session. David sounds so good, it’s hard to believe this is live. I know he is an amazing vocalist but dang. No wonder a lot of people are accusing him of lip synching LOL if not for the changes he made, I would have thought this is he album version. I want another session with YEDL, Barriers, Desperate and Don’t Let Go, heck put Running there as well lol

Band is awesome! My fav is Andre and Steve, and the drummer has a cool name :D

    *goes back to AOL*

  • cruzceleste

^E who is accusing him of lip synching?????

I already told yesterday Steve is mine, he seem cute…

  • E

It’s freaky how like the recorded David he sounds, like in my Hands, “tried every way I can” same airy rich quality of the voice both live and the album, if not that he was a tiny off the previous line, I’d say this is recorded David! same with ALNTOY and TMH, voice quality as good as the cd but much better, that is something that that can never be manufactured. My current fav is My Hands, this is so precious. but I’ll probably change my mind when I go back to ALNTOY.

  • E

Celeste: folks at vh1 forum are saying David’s Aol session is lip synched. Even when people pointed out about the changes from the album to the live version, most still insist it was lip synched LOL it’s actually hilarious and the snarkies are having fun about it lol

  • cruzceleste

the snarkies are there… must see…

  • hardkandy

He’s amazing in these. And his voice is so pure and clean live, it’s insane.

    You Can is my favorite.

Well, I guess it’s a compliment that they think he’s lip syncing. lol. Even taking away the changes, he gets too close to the mic on ALTNOY and you get some feedback. That wouldn’t happen with lip syncing. lol.

  • Tatiana

It looks like it is really just one guy sharing an uneducated opinion (he even admitted he only watched “Crush”). The thing is, the thread was started by Archie fans trying to convince others to give him a chance (see how great he is in the AOL sessions!!). This approach doesn’t seem to work with people who are already biased against him. I’ve found that Archie is making more casual fans by people just discovering him on their own, because they love the song “Crush.” I found out last night that a friend of mine got obsessed with the song after stumbling upon it online and is now a huge fan! David will build his fanbase this way. Not everyone will like him, just like not everyone will like Cook or Daughtry or Carrie Underwood. But I think enough people will like him for him to be successful. The fanbase just needs to chill and let it happen organically…

  • Duke

I think this aol session is my most favorite thing to ever come out of American Idol EVER.

His vocals are impeccable!!!! I CANT STOP WTCHING.

I LOVE MY MANDS. i hope thats his 3 single cuz i see it doing reaaaal well.
