Well, I guess I know what a Jingle Ball is now, lol. Didn’t know they were so well attended. David did a remarkable job, and I’m really liking how his songs are translating live. He seems extremely comfortable with them. The crowd evidently adored him! lol. I think he’ll go far.

He is growing up right before our eyes, and BOY can he sing! I love the moment in “you can” where he says “this I knoooooooow” (hope I got the words right). His voice just rings and fills the whole place.

David has morphed into a true performer. We kept catching glimpses of it during Idol, and the tour, but it is all STARTING TO JELL and come together in his performance last night in Sacramento. There is energy, emotion, confidence, grace, assurance and absolute ownership of who he is as a singer evident in all these 5 songs. David is very animated and expressive in relaying the tender emotions of You Canà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦ ALTNOY and WFM shows the soulful side of him off to perfectionà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦. and when the crowd sings along to Crush, you know that he has made a connection with fans far outside of AIà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦. especially when he points the mic toward them and they sing it back to him – you can see his joy in that moment. Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m once again amazed, stunned, overwhelmed at the growth and assurance as a stage performer he has acquired since the summer tour.

David Archuleta is upping the ante in regard to the old debate in the entertainment industry of style over substance, talent verses flash, mediocrity verses true greatness. On the lighter side, Archie kicked serious ass last night. I mean between You Can and Works for Me I don’t know which was more perfect. He was in his element. The crowd effin’ loved him. He sang his cute little face off, and might I add looked extremely adorable in his vest and tee. He exceded my expectations for sure. He’s a star!

I NEVER expected Archie to sell more albums than Cook. David’s numbers were and are fine. Every article I read said that. Cook was the winner. And he has an enormous following. Why wouldn’t he sell more? And good for him! Our David’s sales and performances need to be kept in context. If not, you will always be disappointed. And I refuse to be disappointed when he is succeeding and doing exactly what he needs to do.

The performances last night just go to show that he is his own best marketing team. His talent and sincerity are his best assets. Put him in front of a crowd with a microphone and success will come.

Well said. Despite the way he was painted by many in the media during AI, David continues to turn heads and change minds. After watching recent live performances from other stars in the business, I appreciate him so much more when I see these live performances, and he will only get better. Amazing!

David, we are so proud of you. You got #2 on billboard without tons of promotion for a long time, and your song Crush rose like a meteor to compete with the most successful Idol singles of all time (in a very short time). Congratulations!

Wow..! I think David has just been messing with us all these months. We’ve only seen glimpses of the confident, purposeful performer and finally, last night, he really let it all out for every second he was on that stage. I love TMH as an opening song for his set as it really gets the crowd going, not that they needed any encouragement if all that screaming is any indication! And everyone singing along with Crush was amazing.

He made it all seem so easy, and he was definitely enjoying himself. Glad that Works For Me got into the set as well. I wonder if David pushed to give that song more ‘exposure’ because it’s so close to him or if it’s all part of Jive’s sneaky plan to unleash that as a single sometime soon.

froggy, he had that crowd in the palm of his hand with You Can. I thought the Sacramento review was right in noting that his performances were refreshing because they were so “earnest”. That is the key to his success. Not just the voice, because there are plenty of great voices around. But he sings with conviction. His voice is unique in that it conveys conviction, the sound of it. Not sure I understand that technically. But it just, well, does. But his performances of songs, down to his facial expressions. Whatever the material, even if the lyrics are trite, he digs into it and makes you believe it. That is a very rare gift. That is why I have always thought he is special. Everything else can be learned. The trappings of being a good entertrainer. But if you have the ability to communicate meaning with the sound of your voice and with such immediacy. Well, that is more than vocal mannerisms and tics and melisma. That is the beginning of a great career.

He is so cute. He did great. I’d have loved to be there. Works for Me is one of my favorites–I’d love to see it in a small theatre, though, b/c I really like the percussion in that w/his voice.

He’s got such tremendous confidence. He could use a bit more confidence when he’s not singing. Not bad on the talking, but he could let the audience finish their applause/cheers before he starts talking or launches into another song. It’s natural to rush–I’m sure he feels like, if he’s not singing, then nothing is happening and the people will be bored. But people won’t get bored in 30 seconds.

ETA–that handshake with that girl was very businesslike. When he offered his right hand, she should have given her left.

I actually find the idea of rooting for an Idol contestant who is not completely polished on the show quite refreshing and even endearing sometimes. The raw talent where you can see their potential and then watch them grow is really quite exciting. Carrie Underwood is a perfect example of this. Simon is really good at spotting potential and I think that’s why he was so dead on about Carrie. I saw it in her too just like I did with Archie. Although the difference with Archie is that he actually started out very strong but then the pressure started to show and he was a bit more awkward and closed off in some of his performances. Then we started seeing some of his earlier flashes of brilliance again as he progressed further in the competition. And now, you would hardly know it’s the same kid except for that amazing voice!

I know David won his category in star search, but he really didn’t start singing in public until around that time 11ish and after that, he had the vocal paralysis. I my mind, David is exactly the perfect person to be discovered on American Idol- someone who is just blossoming, with so much more all around potential for improvement such as room for his performance skills to grow, room for his music writing skills to grow, and room for his interviewing skills to grow.

This was a stellar night for David. I am so happy and proud of him. He is no longer just “ours” within the fanbase…he is now on the world stage!! Congratulations, David!!!

Did anybody else watch the Jimmy Kimmel show last night? Kimmel used David, Sanjaya, and the Crying Girl in his monologue. They showed a clip of the Crying Girl as she was sobbing during Sanjaya’s performance. Then Kimmel said, “Apparently, her tears aren’t reserved exclusively for Sanjaya, because well take a look at this here…” They then showed a clip of David during one of the outdoor signing sessions with the fans from the AI tour. He was wearing his skeleton t-shirt and he was giving the crying girl a hug, as she was crying. I’m not sure if they used any camera tricks because it looked authentic. It looked like the very same girl. I wish I had a link for you all to see it. It was pretty funny.

Before the show, I went to arco arena around 2pm. There’re many David’s fans. (only David’s fans), cuz we knew they’ll have meet&greet events at 3pm. No luck. Security guys kicked me out. haha…I went to a restaurant nearby arena. FOD organized lunch meeting. We got a VIP room and had David’s photo slide shows on huge screen TV, and audio streaming of David’s songs.
I went to the arco arena after the lunch meeting. They had couple of t-shirts and bags of David. I bought a bag, btw. haha..
The show order was Shontelle, Boys like girls, David, Katy, and Jesse. They’re all good. Personally, Katy was kinda “surprise”. She was adorable and a great performer. As u already knew, Katy became a fangirl of David.
David started Touch my hand. It’s really really good live song. David connected with audience in this song. One lucky girl. Oh..that girl. I was so jealous..haha..j/k. When he grabbed her hand, ppl went nuts!! When he pointed my camera, I literally passed out.
David sang Works for me right away. This is the first time to hear “works for me” in live. It was really good. I really loved this song. It was a nice transition.
You can.. oh well..One lady next to me became a fan of David after this song. Yeah. It was that good. People was listening to David’s stunning voice and beautiful smiles. During this song, ppl turned on cell phones and waved them. It was cool to see.
David introduced ALTNOY like “hey, this is my next single.” Fans were crazy. It was so good in live. I cannot believe that was a live voice. Perfect tone and lots of emotion. I’m so happy this song is a next single.
Finally David sang crush. Whole arena sang along this “familiar” song. David was spot on. People really loved this song. It was cool to see ppl sang along David’s song.
Overall, David’s set was incredible. Band was great. David looked nice. that voice…oh well…He’s keeping better. I was totally shocked. David was such a great performer.

I think these performances prove that a “pageant kid” he ain’t. I love how he’s proved so many of his detractors wrong… go Archie!

Idolfanatic- IMO that is the way they (media and many blogs) painted David- bread from the time he was born to compete- a robot, etc. but anyone who has watched him since AI knows that he didn’t even get voice lessons until he started star seach and that he is a sincere person who loves his parents dearly (not abused), and he is not robotic at all. His interviews are not preplanned and rehearsed. That is why they are awkward at times. He says what he is thinking.

Well, I don’t think anybody should be shoving anybody, regardless of age. But music doesn’t have an age limit, and if somebody is a fan, then they have every right to enjoy the show from the seat or spot that they’re given or that they’ve managed to get (if it’s general admission). It’s a falsity that teenage girls are David’s only fans. Moreover, it’s his talent that attracts most of his fans, not the way he looks, so whether he’s a “dream guy” for some doesn’t have anything to do with who gets a better seat.

Gee freakin’ whiz, I don’t know how many times I have to say it, but seriously, just because I’m nearly twice Archie’s age and am a fan does not mean I want to jump his bones. I love him for his talent and of course his endearing personality doesn’t hurt, but I don’t think of him in some strange inappropriate way. I do think he seems like he’d be fun to have as the little brother I never had though I’ll never tire of hearing his amazing voice though regardless of everything else.

I rarely post here but I read a lot. Anyway, I was lucky enough to get passes to the station’s meet & greet last night.

We weren’t allowed to take pictures with the artists nor were we allowed to snap pics while we were up at the signing table. Anyway, David seemed to have such a good time there. He was sitting between Shontelle and Jesse McCartney. He sang and danced along to the music they played, and he made me laugh when he almost spelled my name wrong. I gave him a little early birthday/Christmas gift of hot chocolate. Random, but I thought that would be fun.

I also got to chat with his dad for a bit afterward. He was very nice and thanked us for all the support.

Maybe I’m a word nerd but I really think the author of the article was searching for a descriptive verb to indicate the great enthusiasm that even older fans have for Archie. It would really surprise me if this was a literal translation of what really happened!

:jittery_tb: OMG….David was just awesome! I couldn’t wait to get home from work and watch all of these videos. He looked like he was having such a great time and the crowd LOVED him! :clap_tb: TMH is a great concert song and he rocked it. He seemed to really love performing WFM. And “You Can” was so beautiful….loved how he stopped towards the end….that big smile! :grin1_ee: He’s already really comfortable singing ALTNOY….and it was awesome how the crowd sang with him during “Crush”. Loved how he held out the mic for the crowd to sing….just like Cook always does. :thumbup_tb:
