Video after the JUMP…

  • Sunn

Video not working for me for some reason. :sad_tb:

  • primeminister

The beginning– tribute to Michael Sarver?

The middle– I like how the video gave each member of the band some screen time.

    The ending– cute!

  • JJ123

Chris is looking so freakin fabulous!! I love that they were a little more involved than just playing with this video…..they all look great!! I love it!

  • kimberann

I think this is one of their better videos. It’s nice to see all the members of the band in the video. Good job!

  • milly93

good music video. sad though, up until the end.

lol the beginning does remind me of michael sarver!

  • Akatot

Video not working for me for some reason.

If you have any ad filtering, you might want to disable them temporarily.

  • Dr. Tracey

I love this song, like the vid too.

  • taran33

Very good! I like the storyline.

  • maturin

I just wish people would leave DAUGHTRY alone about his sexuality! I mean, the video is a little confusing, but it seems like he breaks up with the workshirt guy, who then loses his job because he’s upset, and then DAUGHTRY drives off in his red car and hangs out with his guitarist, and then the jobless guy lies awake at night thinking of DAUGHTRY, which of course upsets his girlfriend and they both go off and sit around on a rock being pissed in different ways at DAUGHTRY.

Sure he’s married with kids, but has he ever issued a press release or done a magazine cover that says: DAUGHTRY six million records sold and STILL NOT GAY!!! No! Then, why not! Of course, once they put DAUGHTRY on the cover of Rolling Stone, all these questions will be answered. And we will no longer live in a frightening world in which the private parts of dudes who sing on TV are not clearly labeled, like that time at the coffee shop when you ordered decaf and got caf, instead.

  • JJ123

    ummm…..huh?

  • Victoria

    Maturin, lol! :laugh_tb:

I’m not a huge Daughtry fan, but I don’t mind this song. I have a feeling it will grow on me after a few listens.

Yeah, the beginning is so Michael Sarver, haha.

  • breakdown

OFGS, the world doesn’t revolve around Adam.

    Love the video! Love Daughtry!

  • adamisthemanfan

its good…the video is good and the song is good…its MELODIC it works…Daughtry gets it..he just knows what it takes to be successful and write a song that will be a hit or is at least listenable to and catchy. Good for him.

  • kansasfemale

    breakdown

I don’t think that maturin was making a statement about Adam.

….The statement was more about society and media’s influences on how people are viewed differently….and how certain segments of society feel they have a right to shift focus from an artistic statement and performance over to an issue that by all rights is none of our god d****d business.

    point made maturin……….

  • breakdown

The media doesn’t influence my opinion. It seems like a strange place to bring this up…….again.

  • sunchick

Oh come on, maturin. Clearly those guys love each other in the Godly way because there are oil rigs involved. And Chad Kroeger. :innocent1_tb: I, however, do not love this song and it’s chipmunkian vocals, in a Godly way or otherwise. Meh.

  • nikki2

I’m a little confused. I was not aware that Chris’ sexuality was or has ever been in question.

  • maturin

My head was just all giggly with all the photo interpreting and Idol guy dating stuff from the news this week. Dufus humor ensured. Also, videos always make me laugh. And now it’s too late to sneak back and edit. SO LAME HUMOR ALERT.

    Shut up, me.

  • windmills

It’s an interesting idea tying in the song to the recession and how that’s put a strain on many a relationship. It makes it more relevant and it might help it have more appeal to adults but I don’t know if it’ll appeal to the pop demographic.

  • ShabbyChic

I really like the new song! It’s a fun summer song, very catchy and easy to sing-along to.
The video is great. It’s cool how the band members bump in to the characters in the storyline throughout the video.

  • JJ123

because there are oil rigs involved. And Chad Kroeger

They’re not oil rigs….they’re in a quarry so I guess it’s whatever it is they use there lol. Also, this song has 2 other writers….Eric Dill, formerly of Click Five and Rune Westberg (who I’ve never heard of before).

  • koolgurl

Chris always seems to be screaming through his songs and it looks like he out of breath at the end.

  • BubbleGum

Why cant he be on the cover on RS? He’s so much more worthy and really proved that he derserves it from his music.

  • GeminiDolly

^ Have you written a letter to the editors of RS? Maybe they will give you the answer you seek for. Loving this song. Loving DAUGHTRY.

  • undercooked

Has anyone ever seen Daughtry with a full head of hair? Does he shave his head because he is balding or because he likes the Bruce Willis look? I wasn’t following AI that closely during his season.

  • JB1

OK, LOVE Daughtry but am worried that all his stuff is sounding the same. I wasn’t a huge fan on the show because he had what I will call a “shotgun vibrato” that drove me nuts. I noticed it when he sang live on Idol this year, though it disappears on the radio.

I have downloaded a bunch of his songs, my kids love him, I love him, and will pick this up, but they are all starting to sound the same to me…

  • JJ123

There are old pictures of him floating around with all his hair….I’m too lazy to look right now. He shaves it because he’s kinda balding, as in it’s mostly in the front…..he has said that he’ll never grow it out.

OK, LOVE Daughtry but am worried that all his stuff is sounding the same.

I can see that with this particular song but he has said that this new CD is going to have a mix of genres and vibes to it. Also, the first CD had a few great songs that I wish would’ve been made into singles but they picked the ones with the more poppish sound to appeal to the masses.

  • http://stores.ebay.com/BookWomanBlues-Book-Nook Bobbi

Never have been much of a Daughtry fan, either on the show or since. His music has always sounded the same to me. I keep trying but I guess I’m just not a fan.

ETA: Oops! That last line was supposed to be “I keep trying but I guess I’m just not MEANT TO BE a fan.

  • kimberann

^^Most musician’s music sounds the same. lol I have seen very few artists who have a different sound. And when they do change their sound it turns off the fans.

  • sunchick

Theyà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢re not oil rigsà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦.theyà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢re in a quarry so I guess ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s whatever it is they use there lol. Well, I can’t claim that I paid close attention because I really don’t care much for the song, or for Daughtry’s voice, especially with the weird autotuning.

  • maggiemay

i like chris a lot but the song and video are horrible. i hope the album will be better

  • sma11ie

Also, the first CD had a few great songs that I wish wouldà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ve been made into singles but they picked the ones with the more poppish sound to appeal to the masses.

Interesting perspective from a fan. As a casual listener, I think they picked the right singles because the album’s 4X platinum, and some of his songs are still ubiquitous on radio.

I really liked Home and What About Now, kind of liked Feels Like Tonight, but not quite digging this song at all. We’ll see.

Also, maturin, you humor was not lame or lost on me. I laughed. Especially since this video’s plot was a bit confusing to me with the band dudes randomly running into the main character guy.

  • ptslittlecomment

    maturin :clap_tb:

  • lavender1960

I have downloaded a bunch of his songs, my kids love him, I love him, and will pick this up, but they are all starting to sound the same to meà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦

And yet this has never been a problem for Nickelback.

    Maturin you minx!

  • Ladybug

Not a fan at all of this guy, but he will sell another boatload of CD’s of his music precisely because he DOES sound the same on every song. He is right flat in the middle of the mainstream of this type of music, riding along nicely with the big-selling Nickelback.

I like stuff that is a bit off-center, but an awful lot of people love this style of music, so I expect to see the new CD join his first one at the top of the leader board, so-to-speak.

  • isisdagmar

I’m just not a fan of his music either. It’s exactly like Nickelback and all the other bland lite rock out there.

  • meme

I’m absolutely lovin No Surprise :exclaim_ee:

  • linsav

I wonder if his CD will sell the same as the first. Since Creed are back together and dropping their CD in a few weeks Daughtry might have a little competition this summer if Creed’s CD is good.

  • dcisluv

I can’t get past his stupid facial hair.

  • duncan

    Love it!

  • http://randomizeme.wordpress.com arca

I like the song, but totally did not get the point of the video.

  • SpenserJ

I canà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t get past his stupid facial hair.

The facial hair is stupid. For me, the thing that is tough to get past is the super-huge, egomaniacal back tattoo. It’s so hard for me to look at him and not think of the biggest power tool move I’ve ever seen a human being make.

That’s why it’s easier for me to listen to him, than to see him. I’m not a big fan of this song, but I do think Chris has a cool voice.

  • http://twitter.com/cara_lee pj

Ah, Spens. Ya know, who does that? I mean, who told him that tattoo was a good idea? Clive? Was he branded as Clive’s bitch with that tatoo, ’cause you know there are rumors about Clive, too.

I like his voice and bought the first album and listened once. It’s just not my brand of rock, and I do like rock. For hard rock, I dig stuff like QOTSA. That’s good music.

  • noctem seizure

I wonder if his CD will sell the same as the first.

Idols rarely do. However, he will at least go 1x plat and probably 2x.

To me this song is inferior to every one of the singles from his first album. But, it will do very well regardless because he successfully turned “DAUGHTRY” into a brand due to the many hits off his freshman album.

So, now radio stations will spin his singles simply because they are songs by DAUGHTRY. And that’s the key (transforming your name into a musical brand), particular for Idols but really for all artists, to establishing a lasting, mainstream music career.

  • kimberann

I can’t stop listening to this song. I’m starting to remember why I used to like Chris so much. I’ve listened to some of his recent radio interviews. He is such a nice family guy. I can’t wait to hear the rest of this album.

  • bean99

It may not end up being my favorite song from the album but is catchy and I enjoyed the video. I especially liked the part where the one guy did a double take when the girls walked by.

  • breakdown

Chris has shown the back tattoo only one time in public.
