I read on a Daughtry site that Chris was sick during this performance last spring. I wonder why they chose this performance. Oh well, sick or not I will listen to him anytime.

They chose this clip because it looks like it “fit” with the stage set-up (small with a cluster of fans) to make it appear as if it was “live.” I doubt anyone at Fox knew this wasn’t his best performance–it just fit and he’s a big name in the business.

Probably the only thing live about this show was Knievel.

Las Vegas loves their little stunts and their shows. This was all about the daredevil Robbie Knievel jumping over the Mirage’s volcano, which was “live” and not previously taped. This is what Vegas is –those big stunts or whatnot and New Years Eve would have had something LIVE in Vegas. The rest of the show was edited & pre-taped to work around that big “jump.” Knievel, would have had to keep testing the tracks, the wind, everything before he attempted to do the actual jump and would not be dictated by Fox to “do it now” the cameras are running. He called the shots for his own safety, not Fox–so Fox had to insert the pre-taped stuff waiting on Knievel.

As far as the musical acts go, regardless of who is on, exposure on TV is always a win-win for them.

I hope Daughtry’s second album does well out of the gate or else David Cook will be implicated for that too. Maybe some fans blame another performer when their favorite gives a subpar performance? Daughtry can be better than that ^^. Hm, KLC did blame Carrie for her label loss and her career woes. But I doubt Chris Daughtry would ever blame David Cook for his deeds – Chris has more class than that.

I in no way do I think that Fox would pick a crap clip of Chris to make Cook look good, Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢d like to think that is ridiculous!!

Quite, right. I doubt very much that they included a “Grammy” winner in their telecast of Daughtry’s calibre to make Cook look good… I do think they included Daughtry in there because the musical performances were rock centered and he’s a big name in the pop/rock world and how many platinum “times” did he get? Plenty if memory serves me. Rock is good music in front of a crowd there to party and have a good time. Also that particular clip looked like it belonged and could have fooled many people if they didn’t know better. I didn’t know it was a previous clip until I read it here.

was not a fan of Chrisà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s goatey voice way back when and still am not. This performance was no exception, it was a hot mess.

I actually think it’s flattering that they included Daughtry like that, using them to make their line up look better….it’s a kind of a compliment.

After saying that I do have to say Fox did wrong in choosing this performance but maybe this is one Fox has rights to? I know Chris has better performances than this. I also know that on most of his songs that goatey voice is not there. Maybe it is more prominent when he is tired or under the weather. I do enjoy a few of Chris’s songs on his cd & think they are really great which is huge for me to say considering I could not stand him at all during his season on Idol.

I don’t think Fox sabotaged Chris in order to make Cook look good. *IMHO* Cook has the better voice & better range.

My opinion is that they chose this one due to the kind of stage, but what do I know?
I’m with gingerly, I’d think Chris had to agree with this somehow.
