DAUGHTRY JOINS THE FIGHT AGAINST MALARIA, DONATING $1 OF EVERY TICKET SOLD TO “MALARIA NO MORE”

SPECIAL GUEST POP ROCK GROUP SAFETYSUIT AND OPENING THE SHOW IS SINGER SONGWRITER MIKE SANCHEZ

January 16, 2012 — Los Angeles, CA — DAUGHTRY has announced the first leg of its upcoming tour in support of the multi-platinum selling rock band’s third album, Break The Spell (19 Recordings/RCA Records). Tickets go on sale over the next two weeks beginning Friday January 20th.

Daughtry’s “Break The Spell Tour” will begin its first leg on March 20 in Buffalo, NY and continue through April 30 when it concludes in New York, NY. Singer Chris Daughtry, guitarists Josh Steely and Brian Craddock, bassist Josh Paul and drummer Robin Diaz are excited to bring their bigger than life show into theaters across the country to provide an intimate experience for fans.

Daughtry is pleased to welcome special guest Nashville-based pop rock group SafetySuit whose new album These Times. debuted No. 7 on the Billboard Top 200 chart. Opening the show is singer-songwriter Mike Sanchez.

Daughtry is also dedicated to using its position to raise awareness about a number of charitable causes. For the “Break The Spell 2012 Tour,” the band will help combat Africa’s battle against malaria by donating $1 from every ticket sold to Malaria No More, a leading humanitarian organization determined to end malaria deaths in Africa by 2015.

The upcoming first leg of the tour will give fans a chance to experience a number of new tracks from Break The Spell, like the chart-climbing hits “Crawling Back To You” and “Renegade.” Singer Chris Daughtry says: “We recorded a hard-hitting rock album that is primed to blow the doors off these great theaters. Fans who come out are going to get an incredible show every night.”

Daughtry has scored four No. 1 hits, garnered four Grammy nominations, sold over seven million albums and played sold out concerts around the world in less than four years. Daughtry’s self-titled debut was the fastest selling rock debut in Soundscan history and its follow up Leave This Town marked the quintet’s second consecutive No. 1 album. Daughtry’s latest album Break The Spell, which was certified gold in 4 weeks, builds on the band’s reputation for melodic hooks and anthemic choruses while providing a powerful showcase for Chris Daughtry’s emotionally resonant voice.

Ahh, cool, he is coming to my town. Might have to go check him out.

No West Coast dates? Well, I guess those will be announced later.

It looks like they have booked smaller venues than they played on their last tour.

Hmmmm….April 4 in Pittsburgh….I really have no excuse not to go.
I’m surprised by 2 opening acts.  When I saw D at a local County Fair, he had no opening act…he was 45 minutes late instead. LOL

I didn’t expect west coast dates on the first leg. Dunno about smaller venues. They’ve played some of these places before.

I hope they add west coast dates, I would totally go!

A couple of the theaters that I’m family with seat only 1200 people — that’s really quite small for a rock group.

Oh wow, he’s going to be at the Ryman on March 30. I’m going to see if I can get some tickets when they go on sell.

I would love a small venue! I’m not really interested until they come west.

April 11 near me, I may have to go. The only time I’ve seen Daughtry was opening for Bon Jovi.

That’s a good schedule in some nice theaters. I guess DAUGHTRY gave up on the arenas.  Most of the arenas on the last tour were set up half house and they still couldn’t sell out. I guess that was so they could go on idol and have Seacrest hype it as a “sold out arena tour” (his actual words I believe). In this tour of 2500 seat halls they have a pretty good chance of selling out. The overhead costs will be less and they will probably actually have a more profitable tour this time around.

It looks like the schedule has changed.  It now doesn’t list the Foxwoods show on April 27, and the Albany show is on the 19.  The NYC show on 5/1 changed also.

Daughtry isn’t the best live, imo (seen him three times), but since this third cd is much better than the second, I may have to give him a third try!
