Glee star, Darren Criss made his Broadway debut last night at the Al Hirschfeld Theater in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.

Darren stepped into the role for departing star Daniel Radcliffe alongside Beau Bridges who replaces John Larroquette.

Reportedly, Darren’s fans came out in full force last night, with a screaming throng waiting for him at the stage door after his performance.

“Succeed” producer, Craig Zadan tells the New York Times, “We’d also definitely be up for finding another show for Darren, once he is not tied down to ‘Glee’. ”   Tuesday night’s opening was sold out, and the ticket sales for the rest of Darren’s 3 week run are “very strong,” according to Zadan.

Nick Jonas will step into the role when Darren ends his run on January 22 to return to Glee.

Check out a post-performance interview with Darren and a gallery of photos from last night’s premiere below.

Darren will only miss one episode of Glee, reportedly.   But, as Darren tells E News, it’s the big Latin episode featuring Ricky Martin. Drat.

Reportedly at least one fan got thrown out of the theatre for screaming “I love you” at Darren during the performance. LOL…not something they encourage on Broadway :)

Daniel Radcliffe’s HP fans are pretty cray cray, so I would think everyone connected with this production were prepared for the onslaught of Glee fans.
I saw Darren got a standing ovation at the end of the performance — will be interesting to see if any of the critics reviewed it. Daniel Radcliffe did a great job in the part — hard footsteps to follow in.

Daniel didn’t miss a single performance, which is pretty impressive. Darren is used to hard work, though. Glee producers work those kids to death.

It’s hard to imagine being able to develop any kind of momentum in only 3 weeks. Darren had only 2 weeks to rehearse, so idk.

Congrats to Darren. He & Beau Bridges should be good together.

I thought it was Nick Jonas who was playing the role next, but I could have been wrong.

That’s a great review.  It makes me wish I could see the show.

I saw that tweet last night about someone getting thrown out for yelling ‘We love you Darren’. Kids these days are not taught proper theatre behaviour. :D

I wonder if the kiddie behavior will be worse with Nick Jonas. Perhaps they need to amend the pre-show announcements:

All cell phones and electronic devises must be completely turned off.
Photographing or recording the performance is prohibited.
Screaming at the actors and annoying your fellow patrons will get your butt kicked out of the theatre.

In the UK they eat in the theater it is like the movies… at intermission they even sold ice cream last time I was over there. :)

Good luck to Darren still not a fan but good luck to him.

Harry Shum Jr tweeted that he was in the balcony and Damian McGinty tweeted that he couldn’t wait to see it. Something tells me that his castmates will eventually go see him, but not all at once, and he won’t know when they will be there. They’re all so supportive of each other and many sent him tweets wishing him well. I expect they’re chomping at the bit to go see him.

Speaking historically, it used to be a lot worse.  One of the attractions of going to the theatre was the number of prostitutes who plied their trade in the dark corners of the  gallery while the show was happening!

Oh Lord! And to think I was annoyed at the ice cream sales! lol

There are so many cast members of Glee maybe… that is why the first night sold out? :) There are enough of them to fill the theater, right? lol

It was sold out because of his fans. I read a review from someone who went and apparently, they were everywhere. Acting a fool, of course. Someone had to be escorted out.
