I think Danny Gokey is really going to surprise people in country music. I also attended this show in NC last week (aek, it was so nice to meet you). Danny was very well received by the audience, on a billing that also included David Nail, Mallory Hope, and Phil Vassar (who I didn't see, too late for me). The audience seemed to love Danny's music, and also to really respond to him personally. There were a lot of people queuing up to try and talk to him or get pics/autographs after he finished, even though there had been an official m&g before the show through the radio station sponsoring the event.

I would say, although they all are very talented and did well that night, Danny got a bigger reception than the other two that I saw (more cheers/applause, bigger crowd around the stage, more people taking pictures and videos, more people trying to meet him, more enthusiastic singing along by the crowd with his songs' ¦). He really does have a nice way of connecting with audiences in his live performances and getting them on his side and into his music. And have to say, wow his voice was just awesome, he is quite the singer. I know the AI judges got some people hatin' on them for supposedly overpraising Danny's vocals during the competitive AI season, but he truly is a phenomenal singer.

He did a similar set of songs earlier last week at a Sony holiday event, attended by an audience of country music industry/media peeps. Several of them posted on twitter or to their blogs later, just raving about Danny. Having seen him last week up-close in a more natural environment without all the heavy production of the AI tour, I could appreciate even more why knowledgeable people in the industry react that way. He sounded great, and was very natural and comfortable on that stage with that country-western club crowd.

He sounds so good with just a couple of instruments accompanying him in a noisy bar.
Excited to hear all the songs with full arrangement (esp. some of the more big bluesy ones like I Still Believe and Be Somebody) on the album!

Single goes on sale Monday accd to Danny on Twitter; they must have moved it up.

I was at the performance at Coyote Joe's the other night, and I've got to say that, while all of the videos I've seen are nice, I don't think that they do Danny's voice justice. His voice was just gorgeous! I think that his voice really impressed the crowd. There were a couple of guys standing to the right of me, and during "Oh Holy Night," after one of Danny's more awesome moments, one guy looked at the other with wide eyes, and said, "Wow!"

The club/bar was very large, and had a good sized dance floor. Danny had the biggest crowd on the dance floor croweded around the stage of the three performers that I saw--Mallory Hope, Danny, and David Naill. I had to leave fairly early, since I had to be at work the next day. Anyway, Danny had a great reception from the crowd. You may hear some talking in the video, but I can assure you that the crowd around the stage seemed to be very into Danny's performance.

If I have one complaint for Danny, I wish he had just sung Oh Holy Night alone. His vocals were so beautiful that I hated for him to let the crowd interrupt him. Still, he did a great job, and I think, won some new fans.

Exactly Canuck. Even with the undercurrent of all that background noise, his voice is undeniably beautiful. He just slayed me, with 'fall on your knees'. His voice is stunning.

Cannot wait for Monday's single release, his video to follow, and his full album in March.

Danny's voice just soars, even with all the bar noise. Doesn't seem to bother him though.

Too much audience participation, lol, and not enough Danny!
Wow, no one pours it on like he did at the end.
Beautiful!
I hope he does do a Christmas album next year.

Another great performance by Danny. Glad to see all his success. The guy has worked really hard. He's now shooting his video for My Best Days. And the song goes on sale next Tues, Dec 22. Congrats all around!

I would love for Danny to do a Christmas album next year (hint hint). All of Danny's performances at Coyote Joe's were great. Danny's version of O Holy Night gave me chills especially at the end.

Danny's single on sale Monday YAY!! and music video filmed today. I have heard five songs from his album, My Best Days, It's Only, Tiny Life, I Still Believe and Be Somebody and I love them all. Look's like Danny's album is going to be very good.

Wow'“three versions of O Holy Night tonight. David A, Chris D, and Danny.

I don't know how singers can stand singing in loud bars with people talking and not listening. It must be so frustrating.

Jason Castro did an acoustic version not long ago, and Phil Stacey has a beautiful one, too, done at a tree lighting in Nashville last year. Yes, I can imagine it being frustrating to have to sing when apparently no one is listening. I guess audiences are different in different places. He'll have my ear, though.:-D.
