UPDATE:   I had total EPIC FAIL with the video tonight. Sound problems! Sorry.   I’ll have some video later, hopefully….

Top vote getter tonight: Gilles Marini and Cheryl Burke with 24 points.   The lowest: Steve Wozniak and Karina Smirnoff with 13 points. Ouch!

Tonight’s scores and next Monday’s scores will be combined–the first couple will be eliminated next Tuesday. After a brand new crazy twist–the Bottom 2 dancers will dance off to increase their scores from the judges.   Also, Jewel performs on next week’s results show.

Tom Bergeron and Samantha Harris are back!

Jewel and Nancy O’Dell had to withdraw.   The replacements will be revealed later in the show.

Lil Kim and Derek Hough – Cha Cha Cha – She watched DWTS for the first time in prison.   Eep!   She’s dedicating her first dance to all her “girls” Shake that badonkadonk baby. Len says overall it was first class,but needs some refining. Bruno says “Nasty but tasy, can’t wait to see you next week.”   Carrie Ann thinks she has great potential. Belinda Carlisle and the Jonathan Roberts – Waltz – Go Go Belinda gets dizzy when she spins. A little clunky but not bad. Bruno says she looked like Julie Andrews at first, and then turned into Cloris Leachman “Heavy, heavy heavy.” Carrie Ann says she needs to work on trusting Jonathan. Lawrence Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska -   Cha Cha Cha – Lawrence feels uncoordinated and is afraid to look foolish on the dance floor.   He’s OK, but Lawrence needs to loosen up. Carrie Ann says he needs to get down and dirty. Len said it wasn’t crisp or sharp.   Bruno says it was too laid back–the rhythm is there and he’s got to use it. Steve-O and Lacey Schwimmer – Waltz – Steve-O is clean and sober and ready to dance! Pretty dorky, but it could have been worse. Len likes that he came out fully commited, even if it wasn’t great. He expected worse. Bruno calls it a big pile of slapstick, “Work on the technique,” he says. Carrie Ann said he was oddly mesmerising, and admires his determination. “I want to put my foot in the waltz’s butt,” says Steve-O, so eloquently. Gilles Marini and Cheryl Burke – Cha Cha Cha – Cheryl says he doesn’t have a built in fan base, but he’ll have one soon. His cute son is watching from the audience. He’s pretty sexy. Chuck Wickes and Julianne Hough – Waltz – Chuck and Julianne are a real-life couple. It’s hard to believe she’s never tried to teach him dance steps before. And of course they dance really well together. Duh. Seems a little unfair. Len tells him to take it easy.   Len thought it was a bit hectic, but they had moments.   Carrie Ann thinks he’s graceful and has potential, and caught his foot coming off the ground. Holly Madison and Dmitry – Cha Cha Cha – They only had one week to prepare. Brooke Burke is in the audience.   Probably unfair to dis her horrible dancing, since she had little time to practice. Her giggle bugs. Ty Murray and Chelsie Hightower – Cha Cha Cha – He’s a rodeo champion, and also married to Jewel.   Chelsie is fresh off of So You Think You Can Dance.   OMG, he’s terrible. He moves like a clod.   He’s going to be joining his wife Jewel in the audience soon. Bruno says it looks more like an army drill.   Len gives him props for trying.   Carrie Ann calls him cute, and likes that he let go and had fun. Carrie Ann – 5 Len – 4 Bruno – 5 – 14 1-800-868-3408

Shawn Johnson and Mark Ballas -   Waltz – She’s an Olympic gold medalist and OMG Only 17!!!. He’s Joanna Pacitti’s boyfriend.   Does she have skills that will translaate to dancing? Carrie Ann was moved, nice footwork. Bruno says it was surprisingly refined, but needs to be a little more fluid. Len found the whole thing really appealing…fantastic. Steve Wozniak and Karina Smirnoff – Cha Cha Cha – He’s co-founder of Apple Computers No, Geeks can’t dance.   Well, this one can’t. If he gets enough of Sillicon Valley voting for him, maybe he’ll stick around for awhile.   Otherwise, See ya! Len says “It held my attention…but overall it was a disaster.” Bruno says, “It was like watching a teletubby go mad.” Carrie Ann says, “You’re doing something new…going out on a limb.” Carrie Ann – 5 Len – 4 Bruno – 4 – 13 – 1-800-868-3410. David Allen Grier and Kim Johnson – Waltz – David isn’t into hugging. Kim is very confused by his “humor.” Not bad for a comic. Bruno gives him some technical pointers, then calls him schizophrenic. Carrie Ann says to be careful not to pull faces.   She likes his lines. Denise Richards and Maksim Chmerkovskiy – Cha Cha Cha – Denise introduces herself as a Bond girl, rather than annoying ex-wife of   Charlie Sheen.   She’s already crying in her package.   She’s not very graceful out there. Carrie Ann said she looked terrified, but was proud of her. Len said, you’ve got to tone up a little more. Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani – Waltz – She was fake-rejected on the Bachelor only 1 week ago, and here she is, already on another reality show! What a trouper!   She’s taking Nancy O’Dell’s place and had only 2 days to practice.   Len liked her footwork.   Bruno says “You are a revelation…like a beautiful bird about to take flight.     Gilles was really good! I was pleasantly surprised. Really sexy and he totally has some natural Latin rhythm.

    Steve-O was a lot better than expected. And I didn’t think Lawrence Taylor was as bad as the judges said.

    So far, most everyone has been really stiff, but it’s the first week, so I can give them some leeway.

    Shawn was really good!! It was a very pretty dance. Mark did a good job with the choreography, and she is so adorable.

    Poor Ty, I love him and my favorite sport to watch is Bullriding. But I found myself laughing so hard, my dog was crawling all over me. I’m sure he was nervous with all his Bullriding buddys watching. They even did a spoof of it on Sat. nite PBR Bullriding, calling it Dancing with the PBR Stars. Too Funny.

    We vote tonight, but do not get the results until next week? So in that regard, it is not like AI correct? The couple that does the least amount of votes and has to be eliminated, do they still get to dance anyway?
    I have not watched since Emmett’s season and cannot remember the rules, seems like we got up to 5 votes per phone, is that still how it works?

    I think it is because she is so muscular in her upper body from gymnastics.

    She is really tiny, 4Â ´7, so she does a lot of muscular excercise to be able to jump the way she does, and she looks really muscular because of it…

    cooktard, I think they are doing two weeks and combining the judges’ scores and votes for the first two weeks.

    And, as far as I know, you get as many votes as there are contestants left in the competition. So tonight, it would be 13 per phone line and/or email address. You can also text.

    ETA: Also, YAY for Melissa!! She was really good! If she can do that with just 2 days of practice, I can’t wait to see what she can do with more rehearsal time. :)

    ETA2: gerreb – I don’t watch The Bachelor, but my roommate does, and I tuned into the finale last week, and even not having watched, I was pissed off at that dude. So I’ve got a soft spot for Melissa, because she was really screwed over.

    It was a really good show! The dancing was from good to just awful – but that’s the charm of it.

    I didn’t know who Gilles Marinl was, but I won’t foget him that easily. I must rent the movie, “Sex and the City” soon!

    I watch a few episodes of the Bachelor and thought Melissa was a sweet girl. Now the finale was filmed about 8 weeks ago, right? Even though she’s a former cheerleader with ballet expertise, I don’t mind her on the show. At least DWtS is upfront about this.

    Melissa did get reviewed by the judges and they commented that their scores are based on what they see and not how much time they had to prepare, Goldenlpb. I thought she did very well and she got some good comments and received an 8 from Carrie Ann and Bruno and a 7 from Len. It’s obvious that she’s had a dancing background which helped a lot with only 2 days to practise.

    Chuck Wickes and Julianne Hough…I am having a problem with this pairing. It really isn’t fair because they don’t have a limit or time constraints that the other couples have. Tell me they haven’t been to a wedding or somewhere else where they danced? I don’t want them to win or even be in the finale.

    I am rootin’ for Gilles Marini and Cheryl Burke, although I think Shawn has an excellent chance of taking it all.

    I read yesterday that Woz has lost 30 pounds in the first 4 weeks of practice. He looked it last night. Amazing the change in a few weeks.

    I’m thinking the finals might come down to Cheryl/Gilles and Mark/Shawn. Although Melissa and Tony might get in there too. I’d be happy for Tony if he did because more often than not, he’s had partners who obviously weren’t going to make it to the end.

    Gilles, Shawn, and Melissa were the best last night, IMO. I can’t wait to see Shawn and Mark do a Jive – they will explode with energy!

    Agreed that Steve-O wasn’t the worst dancer, not by a long shot. Is it me or did he look taken aback by the comments about his being “slapstick”? His performance was intended to be pretty straight-up, IMO.

    Woz was hilariously bad – but the improvement from start to last night was also pretty amazing. (Dramatic weight loss, too.) Karina did an awesome job in training him. Also – she was actually happy and perky last night, despite being paired with a boat anchor partner. This is the all new and improved Karina – being in love really suits her! Similarly, Maks was actually kinda happy last night, and quite patient (for Maks)… and Denise is just a terrible dancer.

    I’m torn about my pool points… I’m not sure who will garner the most votes from a heavily female voting public. Will it be:
    Woz… will his “fan base” of tech-heads vote?
    Holly… will middle America vote for a Playboy Bunny (who can’t dance)?
    Steve-O… will his fan base vote for the clean, sober and ball room dancing jackass?
    Ty… a strong fan base in middle America but, good Lord, he was awful! will the fans vote for him anyway?

    Decisions, decisions!

    I believe they ending taping the show in Nov. but filmed the breakup/dumping in January, Grammie Kari. She and Jason did see each other prior to that. Unfortunately I know way too much about the show even though I didn’t even like Jason going in, lol.

    I’d be okay with Denise going home first.

    Why did they bring Maksim back only to stick him with the crazy harpy? I’m sorry, but boyfriend is the hottest thing going on the dance floor. I still miss the chem he had with Mel B. THey were a trip. Karina is the best female pro, and they keep pairing her with the not a prayer in hell partners. (Though Woz is a doll.) I wish Lil Kim had a different partner too. I kinda love her (and might have Notorious K.I.M. on my iPod..yeah, don’t judge) but Derek not so much. Marc gets yet another adorable female athlete. Epic fail with the match ups DWTS.

    That said, Steve O and Lacey were adorkable together if not exactly burning up the dance floor. Dmitry is still hot. Too bad about Jewel. Gilles? Also hot. And can dance! He and Cheryl, I think, will be the most fun to watch this season.

    I was surprised by the couples I took a shine to.

    I really liked Melissa & Tony but I was torn cuz it’s pretty obvious she has an advantage in the dance department. She seemed so happy to be there tho, especially after what happened to her on the Bachelor (I don’t watch the show).

    Gilles and Cheryl. Smokin hot.

    I loved the Woz & Karina. How can you not, the guy is adorkable. Karina was pretty relaxed looking and not at all upset about being paired with him. I thought his was the cutest dance of the night.

    I couldn’t help falling for Ty Murray & Chelsie and not because I watched her on SYTYCD. He was so outside of his comfort zone and really put the effort in. And how cute was he on the dance floor. He looked totally committed to the dance and how pretty was Jewel in the audience supporting her man. Love them.

    My favorite couple of the night were Shawn & Mark. I have loved every partner Mark has had (excluding Kim) and Shawn is no exception. They had great chemistry and they looked amazing together. I couldn’t ask for more.
