Dancing with the Stars – Season 16 Cast Reveal!

Hey All! I am very happy to say (and thank MJ as well for welcoming me back) that I will be returning to live blog Dancing with the Stars this upcoming season. The show, now entering season sixteen, will begin on March 18th, 2013. I do hope you guys will join me on Monday and Tuesday nights for the show.

And now, without further delay, here is the official cast (with their professional partners) of season sixteen of Dancing with the Stars as revealed this morning on Good Morning America:

Actor and Comedian Andy Dick with partner Sharna Burgess
Reality star Lisa Vanderpump with partner Gleb Savchenko
Actor and Comedian D.L. Hughley with partner Cheryl Burke
Singer Wynonna Judd with partner Tony Dovolani
Singer and Reality star (American Idol) Kellie Pickler with partner Derek Hough
Olympian Aly Raisman with partner Mark Ballas
Olympian Dorothy Hamill with partner Tristan MacManus
Boxer Victor Ortiz with partner Lindsay Arnold (So You Think You Can Dance)
Actor and Singer Zendaya Coleman with partner Val Chmerkovskiy
Actor (General Hospital) Ingo Rademacher with partner Kym Johnson

Seems as though the rumors of Bachelor star Sean Lowe, Reality star, the mother from Honey Boo Boo, and Cook Bobby Flay did not come to pass. Overall, we don’t have a very “star filled” cast here but then again, what season of this show hasn’t started with a rather lacking list of B, C, and D level celebrities? The fun begins when we learn who can actually dance and entertain us come show time. I have hopes that the show can at least be fun and competitive as ABC really needs this season to improve when it comes to ratings.

What do you guys make of the new cast? Does it excite you to see any of these celebrities put their dancing shoes on? And what do you think of the returning and new professional dancing partners?     Dorothy Hamill + Tristan = Love

    (I have a soft spot for Dorothy b/c people used to think I had her signature haircut.)

    jpfan2, I thought exactly the same thing about Kellie.  I know they have had some practice already.  For the demands of the show, eating healthy is important!

    Besides Kelly, I also like Dorothy Hamill and Wynonna Judd.  From the guys, I like Ingo.  I know football players always do so well on this show, but I don’t know who he is.

    I don’t watch DWTS so I don’t know what their partners are like, but looking at this list, I wouldn’t bet against Aly or Dorothy. Ex athletes seem to do very well in this competition, and in these two cases, you are looking at a gymnast and a figure skater, so they both have probably had formal dance training to begin with.

    I wouldn’t count on Derek and Kellie going out early – they’ll most likely be in the top 3.  I love both of them, and am happy to see Derek got her for a partner.

    I am loving this cast, my kids watch the Disney show and she is adorable, love Kelly and yes, looks like I am in the minority here but I love love Ms Vanderpump and her series Vanderpump Rules and BHH is the only one I watch, sad but true. I hope this will be fun

    I guess this will be the 2nd partner (1st Jennifer Grey) of Derek I will vote for. Pickler was my favorite country singer on AI and she’ll be my favorite dancer on DWTS. I hope she does well.

    I only know 4 of them…Wynonna, Kellie, Dorothy, and Ingo. I love 3 of them so it’s good. Oh and I really like who they’re partnered with so that helps too.

    I wish they’d give Tristan someone younger.  He’s been on for 4 seasons now and gets stuck with the older ladies.   Just once I’d like to see Derek get stuck with one of them to see what he could do for them.  But he only gets the pretty young things.   I’m not overly impressed with the cast.  I only know half of the pros and half of the “celebs”.    Tony and Tristan with the older gals…I’m surprised they didn’t give Tony first dibs since he won.  No wonder Maks wants out.  
    Have no clue why they got rid of so many pros, but to me, that’s part of the fun.  They should keep Chelsea and Lacey and Dmitry.   I wouldn’t mind seeing Benji Schwimmer replace someone either.

    I’m looking forward to Kellie, Wynona, Dorothy, and DL Hughley. I’m sort of also curious how Andy Dick will do.

    It’s annoying to me how Derek and Mark almost always get the good dancers or “name” celebrities. I was hoping Kellie would be paired with Tristan, who is very good and very patient. Derek and Kellie will go deep in the competition but Derek annoys the shit out of me.

    Oh and don’t underestimate the power of soap fans to carry Ingo Rademacher far into the competition, like they did the ABC soap stars before him.

    Peta Murgatroyd will be paired with Sean Lowe of the Bachelor. The pairing will be announced later, possibly when the Bachelor airing ends.

    Isn’t 11 couples strange? Don’t be surprised if we don’t see Bachelor Sean added after his finale airs!

    1) Great for Kelly, Ingo, etc. but I don’t know who a few of these “stars” are… that kinda kills the interest. Honey Boo Boo’s mom would be a train wreck hard to miss. Or surprise us and be good.

    2) Lot of knew pros. We knew Maks was gone but Anna too? She was one of my favorite female pros.

    Surprised at the lack of love for or even familiarity with Dorothy Hamill . Come on, she was America’s sweetheart and Gold Medal Winner!

    I heard the same thing and believe it will be announced Monday when he makes his F1 pick.  They are airing ATFR right after and think that is when they will make that announcement of Sean & Peta.
