Here we go again, gang! We are only eight days away from crowning the season fourteen champions of DWTS. This is the semi-finals. Two dances each for the remaining couples (any unlearned ballroom and lain routine) followed by a single elimination tomorrow night and the reveal of our finalists. It has been a really solid season and we have four celebrities left that make up what very well could be the strongest semi-finals in the show’s long history. I hope you guys enjoy the show. Let’s get to it.

William Levy & Cheryl Burke – Tango
To vote for William & Cheryl, call 1-800-868-3408. You can send the word “Vote” to 3408 to text a vote. Finally, head over to ABC.COM with a registered email and vote online. 5 votes allowed per phone/text/email in this 9th week.

A strong tango from William. He is definitely in control on the floor and the emotion and feel of a tango is there. If anything, the emotion needed to translate a bit better to the footwork at times. In certain spots, William’s bottom half wasn’t as strong as it could be. His frame looks good though and no glaring errors as he seems to be in good sync with partner Cheryl.

Len is very excited about tonight and he is going to be extremely critical. He wanted a tighter hold and for things to be a bit crisper as well as William watching his feet so he isn’t flat footed but overall, good job. Bruno enjoyed how dominating William was and called it aces. Carrie Ann compliments William but goes into super specific dance critiques and says she is doing so because of this is the semi-finals.
Carrie Ann- 9, Len- 9, Bruno- 10 for a total of 28/30.

Katherine Jenkins & Mark Ballas – Quickstep
To vote for Katherine & Mark, call 1-800-868-3410. You can send the word “Vote” to 3410 to text a vote. Finally, head over to ABC.COM with a registered email and vote online. 5 votes allowed per phone/text/email in this 9th week.

As expected, this is extremely quick. Because of that, I saw some instances where Katherine’s feet weren’t exactly doing what I’m sure she intended. On the plus side, it seems she has found the emotion of the dance and is grinning from ear to ear. So, well done on bringing the character to the dance. The footwork greatly improves towards the middle to end of the routine.

Bruno says it was outstanding and picture perfect. Carrie Ann doesn’t think Katherine brought her A game. It was her A+ game. She calls it perhaps the best dance she has ever seen on DWTS. Len compliments everything but did mention a foot issue. Overall, he calls it a fabulous number.
Carrie Ann- 10, Len- 9, Bruno- 10 for a total of 29/30.

Donald Driver & Peta Murgatroyd – Waltz
To vote for Donald & Peta, call 1-800-868-3403. You can send the word “Vote” to 3403 to text a vote. Finally, head over to ABC.COM with a registered email and vote online. 5 votes allowed per phone/text/email in this 9th week.

With lots of smoke on the floor and both in white, Donald and Peta are dancing a very elegant and refined waltz. This is a very pretty routine with all the usual waltz type steps. Good extensions, good footwork, and lovely emotion.

Carrie Ann calls it dreamy. She felt the emotion in the dance. A few times, Donald’s feet didn’t quite finish the steps. Len found it charming. His only critique is that Donald’s head needs to stay to the left more. Bruno was impressed by a dance that is difficult to impress with. He thought Donald did a fantastic job.
Carrie Ann- 9, Len- 9, Bruno- 10 for a total of 28/30.

Maria Menounos & Derek Hough – Argentine Tango
To vote for Maria & Derek, call 1-800-868-3401. You can send the word “Vote” to 3401 to text a vote. Finally, head over to ABC.COM with a registered email and vote online. 5 votes allowed per phone/text/email in this 9th week.

Derek continues his impressive streak of creating especially memorable tango (and of the Argentine variety) routines. So much passion, crisp movement, emotion, and great footwork. This is very dramatic. Exceptionally choreographed by Derek and wonderfully danced by Maria.

Len was caught up in the whole thing. It was a silent fabulous. Bruno thought every step had a meaning and purpose. It was fabulous. Carrie Ann talks about Maria’s journey from the beginning. She calls it beautiful and amazing.
Carrie Ann- 10, Len- 10, Bruno- 10 for a total of 30/30.

William Levy & Cheryl Burke – Salsa
To vote for William & Cheryl, call 1-800-868-3408. You can send the word “Vote” to 3408 to text a vote. Finally, head over to ABC.COM with a registered email and vote online. 5 votes allowed per phone/text/email in this 9th week.

This is a really fun salsa. Everything about it totally screams a fantastic latin number. William’s butt is shaking, his hips are going, the musicality is perfect, and he is smiling. Lots of emotion and character and so much fun. He is definitely doing his part to show that his dancing is strong and like other latin routines this season, William is at home.

Bruno says he is going to die with bum envy. He is all compliments. Carrie Ann says he had her at hello. All compliments from her as well. Len has never looked at a man’s bum so long in his life. He loved the basic steps and rhythm.
Carrie Ann- 10, Len- 10, Bruno- 10 for a total of 30/30.

Katherine Jenkins & Mark Ballas – Salsa
To vote for Katherine & Mark, call 1-800-868-3410. You can send the word “Vote” to 3410 to text a vote. Finally, head over to ABC.COM with a registered email and vote online. 5 votes allowed per phone/text/email in this 9th week.

It seems we are two for two when it comes to outstanding salsa routines. Mark choreographed a belly dancer type salsa and Katherine is bringing it. Lots of shaking and lots of smiling. Katherine isn’t as natural in a latin dance as she in ballroom and it shows at times during her movements. Something odd happened at the end. I’m not sure if it was a mistake or if Katherine felt weak for a moment. Mark and Tom stay with her as she apologizes over and over again. It seems she is fine but she is clearly disappointed in herself and keeps on apologizing. Katherine is near tears. She should be very happy because that was a really good routine despite what happened at the end.

Carrie Ann thought it was fantastic. She loved that Katherine found some new moves and was just upset about the end. Len thought Katherine came out and gave it one hundred percent. Bruno is thrilled and doesn’t want Katherine to beat herself up.
Carrie Ann- 9, Len- 9, Bruno- 9 for a total of 27/30.

ETA: It seems that the error was something with Katherine’s back. Perhaps that quick mess up at the end caused some back pain for her. The doctors are going to check up on her and Tom says we will get an update later in the show.

Donald Driver & Peta Murgatroyd – Samba
To vote for Donald & Peta, call 1-800-868-3403. You can send the word “Vote” to 3403 to text a vote. Finally, head over to ABC.COM with a registered email and vote online. 5 votes allowed per phone/text/email in this 9th week.

A great attack at the samba by Donald. Peta put lots of crowd pleasing moves into this. Donald is working the audience with his charm. When he and Peta are back together, they are in sync and having a really good time. The samba fits Donald’s very fun personality on the floor and I like that Peta took a different approach with the choreography. Good job.

Len thought it was a good time, just a bit careful. Bruno said Donald took a big risk and it paid off. Carrie Ann at first has nothing to say. She is just smiling. When she speaks, she says it was A+, game.
Carrie Ann- 10, Len- 9, Bruno- 10 for a total of 29/30.

Maria Menounos & Derek Hough – Jive
To vote for Maria & Derek, call 1-800-868-3401. You can send the word “Vote” to 3401 to text a vote. Finally, head over to ABC.COM with a registered email and vote online. 5 votes allowed per phone/text/email in this 9th week.

Some more great choreography by Derek. Maria started on a table as if she flat-lined and Derek brought her back to life. From that point on, it is a very energetic jive. My only complaint is that Derek took a bit out of Mark’s page in this routine and showed off a bit more than he is supposed to. Don’t forget pros- this IS about the celebrity.

Bruno loved it and mentioned that the footwork was Fosse-like. He thought it was brilliant. Carrie Ann called it stunning and said Maria is a winner tonight. Len mentions it wasn’t a traditional jive but it doesn’t matter because the feel of the dance was great. Len brings up a little stumble that Maria had but he liked it.
Carrie Ann- 10, Len- 9, Bruno- 10 for a total of 29/30.

Final Judges Leaderboard:
Maria & Derek- 30 + 29 = 59/60
William & Cheryl- 28 + 30 = 58/60
Donald & Peta- 28 + 29 = 57/60
Katherine & Mark- 29 + 27 = 56/60

Well, you see how close those scores are. The audience vote will make the difference because the celebrities are basically starting at square one with scores that close to one another. The bigger fanbases and more intense voters are going to determine who the finalists are. Good luck to all of them but I am keeping my prediction that the finalists will be Donald, Katherine, and Maria. I actually feel quite confident about that and I’ll include my reasoning tomorrow night before the segment by segment recap of the results show.

  • too-cool-for-school

A 10 for William from Bruno? Shocker!

I thought he looked really clumsy in that tango.

  • sf3456

Of course Bruno gave William’s Tango a 10.  I thought he looked very pigeon-toed in that dance.

  • http://twitter.com/desireechick kesia monteith

Carrie-Ann is out of her damn mind. Katherine having one of the best dances ever? Um NO! Roshon and Donald and even Jaleel has done much more interesting dances than that. Oy!

  • too-cool-for-school

The wheels on the bus go round and round
Round and round, round and round
The wheels on the bus go round and round
    Right over Donald and Peta!

    :(

He looked downright awesome in those white pants…whew!!

  • Anonymous

Hines Ward, his mother, and Kym Johnson in the audience! Hines was my all-time favorite on the show!

  • Anonymous

William’s samba was awesome! Donald and William are definitely my favorites in this competition.

  • too-cool-for-school

It would really kill ya to give him a 10, wouldn’t it, Len? But you all can dole ‘em out to William without hesitation. Sigh.

  • http://twitter.com/desireechick kesia monteith

I must say, that Samba was really solid. You have no clue how much it pains me to say that.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Connie-Blank/1546613435 Connie Blank

A jive with no kicks & flicks?  Yuck!

  • too-cool-for-school

    Agreed… *swallows pride*
It was good. But I still remember almost every other time he has been so incredibly overscored when he didn’t do well and I can’t let it go, haha.

  • Anonymous

LOL! I know. I’ve read what you wrote before about him. :)

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/5Y6WQETDKRQINNDVQIIT4BFDOY NFLRocks

    Voting for Katherine and Donald.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_NDYOWBIIPZU6PBRHGOPT2ZZJXQ sweetmm

I really do hope fans pull in for Katherine; it will be a shame if she’ll miss the finals. Of all the celebrities this year; she’s been pretty consistent and somehow her persona suits ballroom dancing to a tee.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_NDYOWBIIPZU6PBRHGOPT2ZZJXQ sweetmm

Those two needs to advance and finally receive their perfect score :)

  • Anonymous

Haven’t seen it yet (West Coast), but I will be p*ssed if Donald get eliminated.
Maria got higher scores, dang it.

  • http://twitter.com/MikhailXO MichaelG (MikhailXO)

NOTHING spells mirror ball like William Levy in those white pants.

  • http://twitter.com/MikhailXO MichaelG (MikhailXO)

You must have missed his hot ass.

  • http://twitter.com/MikhailXO MichaelG (MikhailXO)

Helllloooo? Did you happen to check out his ass?…yeah…10+

  • http://twitter.com/MikhailXO MichaelG (MikhailXO)

    Agree. I.Want.Him

  • http://twitter.com/desireechick kesia monteith

    LOL Bahaha! :p

  • http://twitter.com/desireechick kesia monteith

It won’t be the same without him. :(

  • callmecrazy

Oh wow, I am loving Brooke’s dress.

  • callmecrazy

This has got to be the best top four finalists ever on the show….at this point, anyone who wins I would be happy with.

  • callmecrazy

William Lovey, round 1…The walk down the stairs was weird.  I love me some William, but I think this tango needed MORE passion.

  • callmecrazy

Katherine Jenkins, round 1…looks like she lost a bit of the choreography during parts of the routine, but I doubt everyone was looking at her footwork.  Oh Carrie Ann, you are delusional.  This is not the best dance ever on the show…not even close  girlie!

  • callmecrazy

Donald Driver, round 1…this is REALLY good.  I don’t usually care for the fog machine effect, but for this performance, it added to the beauty of the dance.

  • too-cool-for-school

Hot as he is, nothing can overrule my disgust with the doofus judges. XD

  • callmecrazy

Maria Menounos, round 1…uhmm, part of the beginning on the stairs was exactly like the argentine tango Derek did with Nichole…*sheesh*  I honestly don’t think this routine deserved a perfect score….at…all!

  • callmecrazy

    William Lovey, round 2….*faints*

  • callmecrazy

Katherine Jenkins, round 2…ugh, props!  She looks scared.  This speed of this routine is crack like.  Whoops, slip up at the end….

  • Anonymous

I hate it when the celebrities trying to apologize to the professional dancers.
Why ? Sorry for letting the prof dancers down. It should not be that way. And Katherine was not the first one who said that.

  • callmecrazy

Donald Driver, round 2…always fun to watch…and this routine was choreographed just right for Donald.  Ugh, Len, pretty much sucks!

  • callmecrazy

Maria Menounos, round 2….oooohhh, dancing to one of my fav songs…”Tightrope”!  LOVED this, but would have loved it more if Derek didn’t make the routine all about him.

  • http://www.fatladysings.us/ TFLS

I hope Katherine’s injury isn’t serious.  Backs are tricky.  I injured my back years ago (crushed disks) – and am susceptible to slippage as a result.  One wrong bend or turn – and it’s 6 weeks of bedrest till it heals.  Katherine looked like she was in a great deal of pain.  I’d really hate to have her need to drop out at this point.  She’s wonderful on the show.  I was hoping she’d make the finals.

As for everyone else – they were great.  How nice to not have any ringers this season!  Everyone left came in on an equal footing.  I’m not particularly partial to any one couple….but Katherine’s modesty and upbeat personality is very attractive.  I do hope she’s able to continue competing.  One word about Derek’s coreo for the Janelle Monáe number.  Some of that fancy footwork he was so lauded for by the judges came straight off Monáe’s video.  Fosse my foot!

  • RockiDreams

Last night was great – I would love to see Katherine or Maria win or William.  I thought Driver was awful in that second dance, better in his first.  It’s up for grabs, that is for sure. I hope Katherine’s back is okay to continue.  What a bummer to have that happen.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_NDYOWBIIPZU6PBRHGOPT2ZZJXQ sweetmm

I see it as a student being sorry to a teacher; I’m not sure about others but I do think its still quite gracious for any students to be sorry if he/she feels sad for letting down a teacher.  Maybe its my bad for not looking at it as merely celebrity/professional as I do look up at the professionals as teachers too and its wonderful to see a student showing gratitude and respect.

  • http://twitter.com/MikhailXO MichaelG (MikhailXO)

It’s those white pants I tell you!

  • Anonymous

Well the judges are totally ridiculous now. They have nothing left to say and it seems like they don’t even watch. Just say it’s great and that is it. 10 means perfect and these dances couldn’t be and aren’t perfect. They are not pros and they do their best but they are not perfect. I mostly do not listen to the judges at all as each one is a caricature of themselves. Disgusting. Time for new choreographers to become judges on this show.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Connie-Blank/1546613435 Connie Blank

I hope Katherine’s back injury means she needs to withdraw & that will determine the final 3.  Would hate to see her go like that.  I, for one, am tired of the “drama” that always seems to be featured in Derek & Maria’s little videos, and wouldn’t be sad to see them leave tonight.  Derek is smart to choreograph to Maria’s strengths & not push her to do the stuff she’s not good at…thus the reason for no kicks & flicks & not too much side by side stuff that would highlight her weaknesses….They stay in hold an awful lot (where Derek can guide her along). I don’t really have an opinion about William, he’s just eye candy. Katherine has been charming from day one, she deserves to be in the final, as does Donald, who always seems to have fun on the floor, and has made Peta one of my favorite pros.

  • callmecrazy

    Ahhhhhgreed!!!

  • http://twitter.com/KariannHart Kariann Hart

Watching Katherine and Mark’s performance, I wonder if some of his tricks are too difficult.  Katherine could have an injury which lingers a long time.  She is my hubby’s favorite but I am not sure she can go on.

Both Dereck and Mark put in fancy footwork while their partners just stand there and wiggle their hips.  Sure, they are show-offs.

  • hcpoirot

This is a first. donald was overscore for his Samba routine. Now ay he deserve a 29 only 1 point from the great William levy samba. Just compare the two. Like Len say, Donald samba too careful.

Maria Jive also overscore. Her feet are not quick enough to earn her 29. Like most of us say where is the kick and flick for Jive?

  • Trina

Katherine tweeted last night that she had a lower back spasm. Today she tweeted that she was ok but sore. Crosses fingers she’ll be ok tonight.

I need to rewatch the dances. I went blank after William’s white pants O.o

  • Anonymous

Finally I have my computer running again with a new hard drive!  Here are some brief thoughts on the dances.

I loved Derek and Maria’s Argentine tango.  He does so well with the choreography for his dance.  Well done! However, I did not love their jive. The moves were there, but it wasn’t the traditional jive with the kicks and flicks. I am surprised that Len was okay with it, because he can be such a stickler. It was well done, but not my favorite.

I thought that William’s tango was strong, but not technically and dramatically as great as it could have been. I like him and he is a wonderful dancer, but I still feel that he is being a bit overscored. That salsa was sexy and hot and William got that booty shaking down!  It was big on entertainment value and a crowd pleaser.

Mark and Katherine had some missteps in the beginning of their quickstep but overall it was great.  I thought their salsa was fantastic until that move where Katherine hurt her back.  She tried to cover it up, but it was obvious that she was in pain. I felt so bad for her. Even with that slipup, the dance was great. I hope she will be okay.  If she gets through, I hope she can dance next week.

I am really frustrated that Donald and Peta haven’t gotten a ten from Len. He sometimes pulls this kind of thing and it’s beyond annoying. He has had a few dances that were certainly worthy of a ten from Mr. Grumpy Pants!  I think that Cheryl, Mark and Derek are much more experienced choreographers and that could give them the advantage in the finals.  I loved their waltz and that samba was divine. He is such a natural!

I voted for Donald and hope he is in the finals.

I don’t even know if I want to hazard a guess on which three will get through tonight.  Donald is my favorite, but we are lucky in that the right four were in he semifinals.  It will be up to the audience.
