Due to the American presidential debate tonight at 9 pm, Dancing With The Stars has been shortened to an hour. The performances will continue Tuesday night, with NO eliminations until next week.

It’s guilty pleasure week!

Kelly and Val – Samba – They’ll dance to Cher Lloyd’s “Want U Back”. Val is hanging out at the General Hospital set to lend his moral support. Kelly is running out of steam! Oh noes. Well. That was sassy! Kelly seems to have recovered. Len says, “A little long winded getting started.” He liked some elements, but thought it was too raunchy. It’s a Samba? Bruno had trouble with the “samba bounce” but liked it over all. Carrie Ann felt she was uncertain, and she was off her footing. Carrie Ann 8, Len – 8, Bruno – 8.5 – 24.51-800-868-3411

Gilles and Peta – Rumba – The pair’s guilty pleasure song is “I Will Always Love You” by Whitney Houston. Oh. That was super sexy and even told a story, as the lovers parted at the end. VERY VERY NICE. The audience explodes. Bruno, “That was masterclass theater. You manage to maintain the musicality without music. Gripping. One of the best.” Carrie Ann says, “Let the baby making begin!” Carrie Ann is SO EXCITED THAT SHE FALLS OFF THE JUDGES’ PLATFORM. “I didn’t think you’d get into position,” quipped Tom. Len says, “You turned October into HOT TOBER. It had everything.” – Carrie Ann – 10, Len 9.5, Bruno 10 – 29.51-800-868-3410

Kirstie and Max – Quickstep – “Mrs. Robinson” by Simon and Garfunkle. I don’t know how this is supposed to be a “guilty pleasure”. Their age difference will become a comic plot. Kirstie admits that all the couples left are great dancers, but without naming names–she does not think they are all great entertainers. The duo are nervous because the other crappy dancer, Bristol Palin was eliminated last week. Kirstie is crying because she want to do better. That was NOT entertaining. I expected more laughs. Carrie Ann “I thought that was your best dance so far. Excellent work.” Len says, “You were dancing to the maximum!” Bruno says, “You delivered it. Your posture was better and you looked great.” – Carrie Ann – 8.5, Len – 8.5, Bruno – 8.6 – 26.5. Kirstie cries after she receives her score – 1-800-868-3412

Emmitt and Cheryl – Samba – They dance to “Copacabana” by Barry Manilow. Emmitt knows how to shake his ass. Latin is his forte. Len says, “An unstoppable performance. Well done.” Bruno says, “You deliver maximum pleasure. It’s like the best party in the country.” Carrie Ann says, “Nobody does Samba like you. You have the Samba swagger! Carrie Ann – 9.5, Len – 9.5, Bruno – 10 – 291-800-868-3413

Tomorrow, Emmitt, Kirstie, Gilles, Kelly and their partners will perform their team freestyle routine. Tonight, the remaining 4 couples will dance their team freestyle, saving their individual dances for tomorrow.

Sabrina and Louis1-800-868-3403, Melissa and Tony1-800-868-3406, Shawn and Derek1-800-868-3402,  Apolo and Karina1-800-868-3407 – Melissa has a herniated disk in her upper neck. Nevertheless, she is cleared to dance. Team Call Me Maybe–will dance to “Call Me Maybe” of course. The team decides to go the “technical route.” During Friday’s rehearsal, she had a whiplash in her neck and was rushed to the hospital in a neck brace.  The boys are football players, the girls are cheerleaders. Wow there are lots of well executed tricks in this routine.  Derek does another superb choreography job.  Team Gangnam Style is going to have a tough time measuring up tomorrow.  Lots of tricks in this one. Len says, “This is quality. Tight, individual performances fantastic.” Len says, “It was impossible to distinguish the celebrities and the professionals.” Carrie Ann – 9.5, Len, 10 Bruno 10 – 29.5

Carrie Ann Wipes Out!

Oh boy, is it wrong of me to enjoy Carrie Ann’s little miss there?  I thought this was dancing with the stars, not baby making with the stars.

Team “Call Me Maybe” got screwed with the song choice, but they decided to go technical with the tricks and stuff which was a good idea.  And it worked.  They got a 10 from Len.  He’s hard to please.  Should’ve been 10s across the board, though.  Guess Carrie Ann is saving her 10 for Gilles’ group dance tomorrow.

Val & Kelly is my fav to watch couple of this season; but my guilty pleasure is still and will always be the baby making machine GILLES!!!

Oh yeeesssssss…I want Gilles to bear my progeny…

Best team dance ever.  Lots of tricks from the folk who are good at that sort of thing and really strong dancing from everyone.  Also nice transitions moving from solo to solo.

Really enjoyed Emmett’s Samba which was always his strongest dance.   As long as he can do Latin style dances he should stay in the game.

I watched again the team dance; I was surprised that Sabrina was a better performer than Shawn.  She really gave her all.

  • iluvai

These doggone judges have so much doggone FUN!  It’s a fun show.  Period.

I thought Kristie’s quickstep was quite elegant. Not the easiest thing to achieve at 60+ and overweight, I am familiar with the latter two conditions.

Argh! Can’t watch team dance from Canada.

I don’t get why they scored Kelly & Val so low … and lower than Kirstie and Max. Does not compute.

Loved the team dance. So much energy and cool tricks. I was just a little mesmerized by APolo. He’s so much fun to watch.

Basically, the producer tell the judges to scores Kelly as low as possible, then Kristie Alley. Then score Emmit and Giles as high as possible.

Giles rumba is good, but not a 10 good. Emmit samba is also not worth of 9,5.

The producer know there is no chance the Gangnam group can win against Call me Maybe group dance. So the judges had to score pairs they like very high in individual dances to be survive this week. (Giles, Emmit and Kristie)

They want Kelly to go home this week.

I thought this was Kelly’s weakest dance. I don’t know if it’s the difficulty of working and having to practice afterwards or the dance itself. Samba is not an easy latin dance to pull off.  Kelly never captured that bouncy, exciting spirit of the dance.  I thought it was uninspired.

In contrast, Emmitt managed to get the feel of this sexy, high energy dance. Emmitt was never the strongest technical dancer, but the guy can move and has great natural rhythm. He brings the charisma and stage presence, has that “wow” factor and just connects with the audience. Those were the elements that were lacking in Kelly’s samba and I believe the judges scored her correctly.

I do think that Max dumbs down the choreography somewhat with Kirstie, but that is to be expected.  She doesn’t have the technical strength of some of these dancers.  She does bring the entertainment and fun. I also think she kind of loosens Maks up and he doesn’t take things too seriously.  The quickstep is an aerobic challenge with the nonstop movement.  I do think this was Kirstie’s best dance.  That doesn’t mean that she was at the level of the other dancers.

For me that team dance was the highlight of the night. Amazing stuff! They did use their technical strength and going for those tricks, lifts, jumps and acrobatics was a great move. Wonderfully choreographed from start to finish and just tons of fun! I think they deserved a perfect score.

The team dance was one of the best I’ve seen.  Ah, being young and FLEXIBLE helps.

It seems they want to get rid of Kelly and Val.  Using the work schedule excuse might work against her.

Gilles is so sexy, but is he taking himself too seriously?

sweetmm, I could have written what you wrote as that’s how I feel.  I do agree that they want Kelly to go home and then Kirstie.  I don’t know how tonight’s group is going to equal or be better than, “The Cheerleaders and Football Players – Call Me Maybe.”

Love that group number!  Going to be a haaard one to beat. :)
