Dancing With The Stars – Season 18 – Week 3

Dancing With The Stars : Season 18 photo DWTS18_fin.jpg

Hey guys!!! Amanda (Celebrity Bug) is back in action and here to recap another exciting week of Dancing With the Stars. Last week, Diana Nyad and Sean Avery were sent packing in a surprise double elimination, and in true DWTS fashion, I’m sure the surprises will only continue.

Tonight, the celebrities and their pros will receive scores from four judges instead of the normal three as Robin Roberts, one of the morning anchors on Good Morning America, sits in as a guest judge. Wonderful and inspiring lady, but what qualifies her to be a judge? Your guess is just as good as mine.

And were off… Tom and Erin welcome us to the ballroom and introduce the remaining ten celebrities, who will be dedicating a routine inspired by the most memorable year of their life. Billy Dee and Emma are unable to dance tonight.

Robin Roberts comes out looking beautiful in white. She admits that she is not an expert, but has been a longtime viewer of the show.

James & Peta (Jive)

James talks about being a pudgy kid growing up and being made fun of, and says his most memorable year isr 2007, because it was the year he overcame bullying. He is too cute for words, but the dancing is a little too maniac in the beginning. He has all of the makings to deliver big time and be a great dancer, and it really shows as the routine progresses.

Len calls it his best dance, Robin recalls his touching story and loves the way he attacks every dance, Bruno believes he is a contender and cannot believe how far he has come in three weeks, and Carrie Ann says he continues to surprise her.

Carrie Ann-9, Len-9, Bruno-9 & Robin-9 = 36/40

The big SWITCH-UP will happen next week and it will only be for ONE WEEK. Billy Dee talks about not being able to dance tonight due to a chronic back problem he has and as a result, BILLY DEE EXITS THE COMPETITION.

NeNe & Tony (Rumba)

For her most memorable year, NeNe chooses 2013 and recalls getting married to a man that she had divorced only a few years earlier. She hasn’t done too well with the more uptempo dances, so hopefully, the change of pace will bring out the best in her. The movements are still a bit awkward and here they actually do feel too small for her body, which is something Carrie Ann pointed out last week. Still, much better than her first two dances.

Robin call her “the life of the party” and thought it was beautiful, Bruno thought she maintained the difficulty and flow of the movements well, Carrie Ann thought their passion brought out a beautiful sensuality, and Len was pleasantly surprised.

Carrie Ann-8, Len-7, Bruno-8 & Robin-8 = 31/40

Cody & Witney (Jazz)

Cody choose 2010. It is the year that he moved to the United States and signed a record contract. He talks about his family uprooting their entire life just so that he could live out his dreams. For his routine, he is dancing to his own song (“Surfboard”) and the dancing is improving. He is still counting every step in his head, but it is less wooden than it was in the first two dances. Good job!

Bruno thought he brought a modern spin to the dance, Carrie Ann thought it was fantastic, Len thought it was tight and right up his alley, and Robin likes his style and loves that he adds his own special touch to the dances.

Carrie Ann-9, Len-8, Bruno-9 & Robin-9 = 35/40
To Vote For Cody & Witney:

9 Vote Limit Per Method /Per ABC.COM / Facebook Account.

Danica & Val (Contemporary)

Danica and Val share a few uncomfortable moments about her being sexy. Her most memorable year is 2010, a year that represents life and death as her son was born and her grandma passed away. Her son is A-DOR-A-BLE! The dancing is just as beautiful. This girl is really showing that she is a contender and the movements are the best I’ve seen a night. So clean. So precise. So right.

Carrie Ann thought it was beautiful and delicate, Len love the fluidity of the movement, Robin thought her story was beautiful and love watching them together, and a spot on Bruno called it spellbinding.

Carrie Ann-9, Len-9, Bruno-9 & Robin-9 = 36/40
To Vote For Danica & Val:
Call 800-868-3403, or Use ABC.COM and/or Facebook.
9 Vote Limit Per Method /Per ABC.COM / Facebook Account.

Drew & Cheryl (Waltz)

Drew chooses 2005, the year that his son was born, as his most memorable year. The year signaled a change for him health wise, because he wanted to live to see his son graduate and grow up. He gets off to a good start, but struggles with a couple of the turns. Nothing against Drew, but I just don’t get excited by him dancing.

Len thought it was charming, but notes that he went wrong a couple of times. Robin says he has been a surprise this season, Bruno appreciated the work he put into it and Carrie Ann thought he was really into the dance and it cause him to lose his cool.

Carrie Ann-7, Len-7, Bruno-8 & Robin-8 = 30/40
To Vote For Drew & Cheryl:
Call 800-868-3409, or Use ABC.COM and/or Facebook.
9 Vote Limit Per Method /Per ABC.COM / Facebook Account.

Meryl & Maks

For her most memorable year, Meryl chooses her complete journey from age eight to winning the gold medal. Someone doesn’t follow instructions well. She selects “All of Me” by John Legend to dance to, and what a dance it is. Her lines are gorgeous and so is Maks, and the chemistry is off the charts. Stunning!!!

Robin loves that she chose a journey instead of one single year and thought it was “beautiful to watch”, Bruno thought it was incredible from a technical standpoint, Carrie Ann thinks she is out of this world, and Len loved watching the contrast.

Carrie Ann-10, Len-9, Bruno-10 & Robin-10 = 39/40
To Vote For Meryl & Maks:
Call 800-868-3406, or Use ABC.COM and/or Facebook.
9 Vote Limit Per Method /Per ABC.COM / Facebook Account.

Amy & Derek (Contemporary)

Amy travels back to 1999, because that is the year she contacted bacterial meningitis, which caused her to lose both her legs. It was also the year that her dad gave her life for the second time by giving her a kidney. If her story doesn’t inspire you to follow your dreams regardless of the circumstance, then nothing will. She is using new legs, which restrict her movements even more and make Derek do most of the work. Still, the tears are flowing and how can you not give her good scores for dancing better than most of the contestants with their natural limbs.

Bruno says there won’t be a dry eye anywhere, Carrie Ann calls her inspiring, Len says it touch his brain with the level of difficulty and his heart with the level of artistry, Robin hopes she realizes how inspiring she is to everyone.

Carrie Ann-9, Len-9, Bruno-9 & Robin-9 = 36/40
To Vote For Amy & Derek:
Call 800-868-3410, or Use ABC.COM and/or Facebook.
9 Vote Limit Per Method /Per ABC.COM / Facebook Account.

Charlie & Sharna (Jive)

Charlie chooses 2010, because it made him step up after winning the silver medal and continue to he reached his goal of winning the gold medal. They are dancing to “Happy” by Pharrell, and he moving well as usual. The choreography, however, is failing him a bit and is not highlighting what he can do as a dancer. Not as good as the past two weeks in my opinion, but still leagues above most.

Carrie Ann liked it, but thought he lost timing. Len loved it, Robin thought it was a celebration and Bruno thought it was delightful and thought the dances tonight were some of the best in eighteen seasons.

Carrie Ann-9, Len-9, Bruno-9 & Robin-9 = 36/40
To Vote For Charlie & Sharna:
Call 800-868-3412, or Use ABC.COM and/or Facebook.
9 Vote Limit Per Method /Per ABC.COM / Facebook Account.

Candace & Mark (Jive)

Candace chooses the year that Full House ended (1995) as her most memorable year, given it represents her transition from child to woman. She is friends with her cast mates and Lori Loughlin and Andrea Barber stop by rehearsals. Right off the bat she loses timing and never really recovers. She is a beat behind Mark the entire time and the precise movements we saw in the first two dances are gone.

Len thought it was sharp and precise, Robin thought it was wonderful to watch, Bruno loved seeing this side of her and that she needs to clean up the footwork, and Carrie Ann loved that she let loose.

Carrie Ann-8, Len-8, Bruno-8 & Robin-8 = 32/40
To Vote For Candace & Mark:
Call 800-868-3407, or Use ABC.COM and/or Facebook.
