I dunno if anyone is still reading this thread…well, OT anyway…my trip to KC for this Saturday’s show is not working out. I’ve got all the arrangements made, tickets bought, etc. But no traveling companion now. I’m a min of 7-8 hour drive away, planning on leaving on Friday AM, back Sunday PM. I HAVE made one good online friend because of Idol and David Cook. But she can’t go either. Waaaaaah! Yes I know we were lucky in Dallas and I KNEW that was gonna be my best opportunity. I was right. Rats rats rats. I think KC will be insane. But I’m trying to figure out how to try ANYWAY…may have to go it alone…hmmmmmmm…. Of course I would recap any show I get to! Everyone on here has been so great about it, if I’m gonna continue to read and post, I oughta post recaps!

Great recap, Kathryn. Hope you get to meet Cook in KC or Tulsa.

Ok, since you admitted your growing fondness for Archie, I will confess that Cook has totally won me over. I always liked him on the show and appreciated that he was talented, but he’s shown so much class and generosity post-Idol that I now really admire the guy. He and Archie are both such special people, no wonder they respect each other so much.

My own post-concert encounter with Cook was great, by the way. He came out after the Tacoma show to meet the fans. He started at my end. It was a day or two after the “hand stand” video with Archie and I thought I would mention it to see the reaction. So I said “Cook, are you gonna do any hand stands tonight?” His response was priceless: “No, I don’t think so. Last time I tried that, I got totally outclassed.” Great answer — very funny, gracious, and humble. And he had no idea I was an Archie because I had no tell-tale signs, so that was just genuine Cook. Sounds like he dealt with the obnoxious Dallas fan with equal skill.

For people who are hoping to meet Cook at the busses before the show, weren’t people disappointed during the Indiana stop because Cook did not show up (or went out for only 10 minutes) because he stayed inside to spend time with his Dad? IIRC, that was the same deal in North Carolina (or was it Kentucky) because he had some relatives from there as well and his Dad once again made the trip. I just remember someone summarizing a few nuggets about the chances of meeting DC:

1. generally speaking, don’t count on it because he has tons of press duties (and if he does show up, you’ll also be happily surprised)
2. don’t count on it on a concert day after a day off because he’ll likely be getting to the venue late and separately from the other Idols (because he’ll have flown/driven back from a recording studio)
3. don’t count on it on a concert day where he is known to have family because he will likely spend his time with them instead

So, not to be a complete killjoy or anything for those going to the KC shows, but the chances of meeting Cook pre-show in KC may be slim or, if he does show up at all, he may spend little time outdoors.

OR, you never know, DC may just stay outside for HOURS in KC because that’s his hometown.

Great recap, Katheryn. I was impressed that DC really worked the room (so to speak) well. I don’t think he’ll have any trouble when he’s in concert on his own. I was on that side but didn’t notice the guy until David commented on him. I guess he must have been mimicking him but it seemed strange that David would comment. Lucky you to get to meet a lot of the idols. :smile1_tb:

Thank you for the recap. I am Cricket’s friend that has been to two concerts, got there early and David didn’t come out at either venue. I couldn’t stay after the show in Chicago and apparently he did come out. Then after the show in Indianapolis he came out and I got to see him but was too far away for an autograph or even to shake his hand and tell him how much I hope he is a huge, huge success. I’m going to Kansas City, too and trying to figure out a way to go to Tulsa. Are you going to be there Friday or Saturday? Maybe we will both have better luck this weekend actually meeting him. Regardless I am psyched up to see the show again. I really enjoyed every minute of the last two. Every one of the idol contestants was better in person than on the show and David Cook just simply was phenomenal. I love reading the recaps to the shows I can’t attend. Thanks so much for taking the time to write so much detail.

Kathryn, I’m hoping that the KC concertgoers haven’t gotten the memo about meeting the buses beforehand. It could happen, right? Riiiight. Well, I’m going to try and go on Friday because I’m sure Sat. will be crazy!!!! I hope he gets your necklace!!!

Thanks Pam! Yeah fallforever posted that link too. So Jailbait and I are now in touch via myspace! Maybe I have another new friend. She IS just a kid and I’m old enough to be her Mom. But we can talk anyway. I might be able to donate to her creative arts school she attends or go to a play or something anyway. I don’t have any kids and I was in band orchestra choir all through school. I know what it’s like to need funds to continue those things. Oh this is now WAY OT! Thanks again, everyone. I gotta get revved up for KC this weekend and NOTHING is gonna stop me from meeting my Idol, darnit.

She said they did not have tickets to the show, she just came to get autographs and see them. She said she had to help pay her MomÃƒ ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s medical bills instead. :cry_tb:

He gave her great seats; and then during the show, got backstage passes to them for afterwards. :clap_tb:

Oh yes, I agree that BEFORE the show is the time to meet them. I had it all planned perfectly. And if I had followed MY plan, I would’ve met Mr Cook, I’m sure. I should’ve just left when I was ready to go and my sister could’ve driven herself or I could’ve come back for her. dammitdammitdammit. I’m just sure KC will be insane! It sounded like there were hardly any fans in Dallas before the show and it was the perfect time to meet him. ARGH. And I thought the hat looked great on him! It will go with some of those snap shirts he used to favor…if he still wears them. I was thinking he needs a new white one and know just the place to get one. ANYWAY, thanks for the nice comments, y’all. Yee haw!
