Today’s thread is brought to you by the numbers 1, 21, 10M and 1B.
Turns out, The Chainsmokers are addicted to the top of the chart as their “Closer” featuring Halsey tops the Hot 100 chart for a sixth week. Kids want “Broccoli”, so D.R.A.M. gets his first 10. The top debut of the week is from Then, Now & Forever – “Forever Country”.
“Forever Country” is the third song to debut at the top of the Hot Country Songs since the chart was created back in 1958. The song features a medley of “Country Roads”, “On the Road Again” and “I Will Always Love You” and a pantheon of Country music stars. Dolly Parton and Willie Nelson are featured along with American Idol Carrie Underwood, American Idol judge Keith Urban and Voice coach Blake Shelton (and his ex). The song debuted with 93K in sales and 5.7M streams. The only other two to songs to debut at the top of the Hot Country Songs charts are Garth Brooks with “More Than a Memory” in 2007 and Voice winner Craig Wayne Boyd with “My Baby’s Got a Smile on Her Face” in 2015 (between those two dates, the chart changed from a radio only chart to a combined chart that included sales).
