Daily Number’s Thread – 06/14/16

Today’s thread is brought to you by the numbers 5 and 35K.

Drake is not keeping it down to just one dance as he foxtrots all over the Hot 100 for a fifth week. Along with his “Views” topping the BB200 for the last six weeks, his “One Dance” tops the Hot 100 for a fifth week. The song also tops the On-Demand chart (22.5M streams), 2nd on streaming (25.1M), third on downloads (94K) and second on airplay (154M). “Panda” has been at number 2 so long, it has fallen asleep. Desiigner continues to top the Streaming chart for an 8th week as his song attracted 32.4M streams. JT continues at the top of the airplay chart (something I’ll probably be typing for half the summer) as “Can’t Stop that Feeling” rounds out the top 3. It’s also number one on downloads with 138K.

We have a new number 4 as The Chainsmoker’s “Don’t Let Me Down” (featuring Daya) rises one spot. Danish group Lukas Graham is 6th with “7 Years” followed by “This is What You Came for” (featuring Rihanna) by Calvin Harris, “I Took a Pill in Ibiza” by Mike Posner, “I Need You” by Rihanna and “Just Like Fire” by P!nk.

X-Factor’s Fifth Harmony drops down one spot to 5th this week with “Work from Home” featuring Ty Dolla $ign.

Thanks to the Tony Awards, “Hamilton” is headed to the top 10 on the BB200. The album has been selling well (445K so far), but this will be its first trip to the top 10. The album previously peaked at 12th. Billboard forecasts that it will sell 35K. “Hamilton” not only won 11 Tonys on Sunday, it was part of both the opening and the closing performances as well as having part of the musical featured on the show. When the cast album first debuted, it had the highest debut of a cast album since 1961 (and that is when there were two album charts – one for mono albums and one for stereo albums – “Camelot” debuted at number 4 on the mono album chart). The last cast album to reach the top 10 was “The Book of Mormon” in 2011.

If you want to hear the music of “Hamilton” the album is probably your best bet because the show is the hottest ticket in town. After the Tonys aired, the next window of ticketing for Hamilton opened up (Jan-May) and they sold out within minutes despite raising their prices. Premium tickets are $849 whereas regular old ticket can cost $215. And those are bargain prices because resorting to the secondary market will leave you reeling. Your best bet are cancelled tickets, the lottery (21 tickets a day) or patience. Or buy the album.

Billboard has a fun rundown of 40 facts about the songs of summer. Yes, there is actually a chart for that.
