Daily Numbers’ Thread – 02/07/17

Today’s thread is brought to you by the numbers 1, 3, 4 and 137K

There are no new songs in the top 10 of the Hot 100 this week. The songs just shuffled around a bit.

Zayn has the number one selling single this week – his duet with Taylor Swift “I Don’t Wanna Life Forever (Fifty Shades of Darker)” surges 124% to move 137K units. It helps that the song was 69 cents this week. Streams were up too, so the song climbs to number 3 (tying the highest ranking two other songs from the Fifty Shades franchise reached – “Earned It” and “Love Me Like You Do”. The writing and acting for those movies might be garbage, but somebody in that organization knows how to pick songs. The movie comes out Friday).

Camila’s duet is right behind Zayn’s. Her collaboration with Machine Gun Kelly is called “Bad Things” and it sits at number 4 for a second week. Sales, streams and airplay are relatively stable.

Ed Sheehan takes over the top of the Hot 100 again with “Shape of You”. The song debuted number one a few weeks ago and releasing the video last week helped to propel it back to the top of the chart.
