Crystal Bowersox, Lee DeWyze and Casey James Go Home – Schedules

Crystal Bowersox, Lee DeWyze and Casey James will be heading home tonight for their hometown visits. Tomorrow will be filled with interviews, parades and special performances from the Top 3. All the while, FOX cameras will be following along, capturing the action. Hometown vids will air on next Wednesday’s results show.

Also, expect the Judges Pick song choices to be revealed–probably during the mid-morning stop each contestant will make at a local AT&T store.

  • I’ll be live blogging all of the fun tomorrow. If you will be attending any of the hometown events, please contact me at mjsbigblog at gmail dot com.  I’d love some photos, vids and eyewitness reports!

Check out the schedules after the jump.  Casey’s isn’t complete yet, so watch for updates. And of course, the schedules are subject to change, so keep checking back…

These hometown visits must be so exciting and fun for the contestants. But wow, they must be exhausted afterwards as the jamp pack the schedule, that is for sure.

  • http://www.pipocacomrefri.com.br Mariane

You know what I LOVE about Crystal’s schedule? THIS: “45 minute concert of original and Cover songs at Levis Square”

She can sing ORIGINALS! *____* Oh, I’m SURE this will happen xD

  • TopCatDC

Yeah – and they have to have two songs ready for iTunes and the show on Tuesday.

  • Suzanne

I wonder what else Casey is doing?

  • ibhde10

    Lee:
Visits a school and paint store

    That cracked me up!
    Kinda typifies the season.

  • DLee

The penguin shirt plays tricks with my eyes.

  • DLee

I asked this in another thread, but I’m not sure anyone is there anymore, did they do homecoming visits the first season? The montage from last night was all kinds of wonderful, I wish they had shown even more….It was nice even to see Clay.

  • http://www.dancin.ca dancin

do they really get to sing originals at their homecoming thing?

i love the penguin shirt can’t find it online though it says something on the back but couldnt make it all out sigh

  • jpfan

Is that the official top 3 picture? Come on Crystal and Casey, you can crank out a smile can’t you. Lee is sort of trying so give him some credit.

Casey and Crystal almost look kinda mad. I hope Crystal wins but she acts like winning this is kind of a pain in the ass. If she acts too annoyed, watch out. Idol audience wants to see humble gratitude and lots of it.

  • FruMiddleton

I’m so excited – I may get to go to Crystal’s homecoming events 8D

Any suggestions for which part I should dedicate camp-out time to? I’d like to see the parade, but at the same time camping out the AT&T store may prove more informative and up-close. And I don’t have money for a ticket to the Mud Hens game :-/ but I’m going to try to sneak a shot from somewhere nearby, just not in the stadium itself.

  • AIaddict

I am hoping after seeing Fantasia and Daughtry perform last night they, all three, take Chris’ advice stay hungry and stay true to themselves in their song choices and sing like their lives depend on it. I also hope that going back home for these hometown visits and seeing all the support that is behind them that it will ignite the fire in all of them too. And I want to see some tears because then I will feel that they get it maybe then all three will come back stronger next week really fighting to win it all.

That being said I was so happy to hear Lee say last night after the montage of previous homecomings that he wants that to be him. Here’s hoping he gets to sing some original songs too.

  • Suzanne

Well, this can be added for Casey.

7 to 8am: Good Day FOX 4 morning show (400 N. Griffin St., Dallas, 75202)

    I wonder what he’s doing between 11 and 4?

  • mandabutter

Some one is still voting for Mike to leave Top 3 Week in the Fun Office Pool?!?! That’s so cruel! How many times do you want him to be sent home? :)

  • Valentin432

I asked this in another thread, but I’m not sure anyone is there anymore, did they do homecoming visits the first season? The montage from last night was all kinds of wonderful, I wish they had shown even more….It was nice even to see Clay.

They did come back home for top 3 night in season 1 but they didn’t show the footage during the result show just a small clip before they performed their first song.

I hope we get song spoilers.

  • mandabutter

    I wonder what he’s doing between 11 and 4?

[Casey] Primping his hair, of course. And I’m sure there is 5 minutes for Kara. Kidding…..
    ETA: OH, u asked ‘what’ he’s doing….

  • Suzanne

i love the penguin shirt can’t find it online though it says something on the back but couldnt make it all out sigh

I think it says “Let’s better the planet for future generations by changing the way we live now.”

  • JW

    I wonder what he’s doing between 11 and 4?

You will be surprised! It is get out the vote for Casey time in Texas.
Oh yeah, great locks, looks good NATURALLY! :)

  • Joyed

I cannot wait to see the homecoming footage. Those montages are some of the best parts of Idol each year. You can really feel how much the dream means to the contestants.

The one thing that will be interesting is how well their voices hold up. They’ll be doing a lot of singing and travel, and I am already hearing stress in their voices.

Have fun to all those attending the homecomings! (And please post recaps)

  • JW

I agree the homecomings are so exciting and it all becomes so real for the fans and surreal I suspect for the contestants. I am happy for the three with the varied backgrounds and this just shows dreams can come true if one works hard enough and is persistent. I wish each the best but I will be voting for Casey. I love his vocals, vibrato and all. And his pickin’ is tremendous.

  • Liva

I gotta say, Crystal looks fierce in that photo. She is very photogenic.

I’m so happy with this Top 3. I love that they’ll be playing race tracks and stock yards, and visiting paint stores… roots is roots. Love it!

  • hicksluvbug

Taylor performed many of his original hits during his huge homecoming season 5 so I don’t know why they would change their policy.

  • mandabutter

Crystal does look FIERCE in that photo! She needs to learn to cry better, in time for the Home package tho.
I love her, I’m not saying she’s not natural when it comes to showing feelings, but –GIRL, play the game!!

  • CookifiedTexan

I only live about 2.5 hours from Grapevine. Wonder what else they’ll have Casey do?

  • MaryS-NJ

Does it sound like maybe the good folks of various North Texas enclaves were a little slow on the uptake getting ready for Casey’s homecoming?

  • SashaB

So if I’m reading the Home Coming Schedules correctly, they really didn’t have much planned for Casey, did they? Sad.

  • Brisblondie

Kidd Kraddick has been talking about having Casey on his radio show all week, so I’m sure that’s on his schedule, too. I know the Stockyards show in Ft. Worth is the big concert part. I would guess part of the day would be back at his hometown in Cool, Texas. Maybe the high school?

  • Suzanne

So if I’m reading the Home Coming Schedules correctly, they really didn’t have much planned for Casey, did they? Sad.

I don’t think that’s right. It took me about 5 seconds to find that he’ll be on the Fox station in the morning like the other two. I think MJ just doesn’t have the line up yet for him.

  • Brisblondie

Also, the Texas Rangers are playing an away game tomorrow, so Casey won’t be able to throw out the first pitch there or sing at the game unfortunately. Also we are expecting huge storms here tomorrow during his festivities. :(

Weather predictions may have played a part in the release of his scheduling. You are in a large area with much to do so it will be interesting to see what’s up. I expect part of the day will be in Cool Texas. We are making it get out the vote day.

Billy Bob’s would have been a great venue for him.

Here’s some stuff I found in a Google search re: Casey’s (tentative) homecoming schedule:

    homecoming-schedule
“…According to Millsap ISD administration, they are attempting to get in touch with American Idol officials and try to have a local parade in Cool and Millsap.”

Just now they’re attempting? Who is responsible for setting these things up… the local administrations or American Idol?

    Oh, you have no idea…

And the lack of planning for Casey seems stupid to me. Last year we had info on the homecomings really quickly after the results and I would expect that there was a complete plan if Allison would have made it to Top 3 (wasn’t that one of the reasons Adam’s was in San Diego). The lack of planning for Casey in Texas is just surprising. I wonder whether there was a full plan ready for Mike?

    Lee:

    That cracked me up!
    Kinda typifies the season.

The paint store is the one Lee worked at for the last six years. They’re basically “Lee DeWyze Central” in Chicagoland, and they’ve been selling “Vote for Lee” tshirts with the profits going to a local school.

As for the school visit…if memory serves, Adam spent quite a bit of time at his school last year.

I’ll be at Arlington Park tomorrow, cheering for the paint salesman. Woo-hoo!!!!!!!!!!!

Crystal has done her share of crying on the show. Didn’t you see her last night when Mike was voted off? I think she and Mike are close and maybe that’s why she couldn’t manage a smile for the camera. (these pics are taking RIGHT after the show) Crystal really wears her feelings on her sleeve. As far as her crying for her homecoming, I expect major waterworks. :)

FruMiddleton, Crystal is giving two free concerts so you don’t need to spend any money to see and hear her sing.

  • hollygo9

What a grim photo. Crystal looks pissed, Casey looks annoyed and Lee looks sheepish.

I think this is about right for Casey’s sched so far. Also, in the news last night they mentioned that there is also a parade in the stockyard area and a performance.

I will try to go to AT&T store and the Stockyard tomorrow, if weather permits. It’s less than 30 mins drive from my place.

  • wjmtv

    AIAddict,

I’m not as teched up as I could be, but I’ll do my best. Goal #1 is to get a good seat–I actually bought a ticket ahead of time that will let me in before the gates are crashed at 4:00*, so I hope to be close enough that my wimpy camera will take a picture or two worth seeing. Wish me luck!

*By 11pm last night, everything was sold out but box seats, and their website says the stadium holds 45K. Could be a very interesting day. :)

  • V8Adam

So no parade for Casey? cmmom Texans…….

  • CookifiedTexan

Two seasons ago, my hometown was planning two weeks ahead of time in the event that Jason Castro made it to the Top 3. Among other things, Idol execs were planning a concert on the front steps of the administration building of our university (Texas A&M). Everyone was very disappointed when Jason didn’t make it. No conspiracies here, I just find it odd that no similar pre-planning for Casey has taken place.

  • Chrysalis

    Everyone,

Please vote like crazy for Casey next week… we need to get him in the top 2… and then win! His performance skills on stage are soooo much better than Lee’s (even Crystal looks very awkward at times).

Casey overcame great adversity with his car accident and is now an incredible musician/artist.

The AI producers and judges are trying to pimp Crystal/Lee to death while being very unfair to Casey… don’t let them.

The judges will throw poor Casey under a bus next week to get him off the show. It is “judges pick” for the song — and you know they will give Casey a terrible song (meanwhile giving Lee and Crystal good ones). Completely unfair.

Vote for Casey!! Casey for the win!!!

  • FruMiddleton

AndreaH – thanks for reminding me! So I should camp the AT&T store then rush over to the concert(s)? XD

  • googletot

Fort Worth’s Casey James, who made the top 3 on American Idol this week, will be in Richardson on Friday for the opening night of the Wildflower! Festival. He’s set to perform about 9:45 9:35 p.m., before The B-52s come on stage.

James is expected to do just one song, so get out there early if you want to be sure to catch his act.

Tickets information is available on the Wildflower! website.

    http://richardsonblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2010/05/american-idol-finalist-to-perf.html&ct=ga&cad=:s7:f2:v0:i0:lt:e4:p4:t1273775169:&cd=t_dRKGidaNw&usg=AFQjCNGZNuJWAPVaj78-xd2cdMxn5L7_pA

Also, they’re trying to set up a parade on Saturday morning between Millsap and Cool, TX. AI never got in touch with people there, so it’s quite obvious they didn’t think Casey would be in the top 3.

  • ettacandy

I absolutely believe TPTB left the details of Casey’s trip unplanned because they did not expect him to make it this far. How many buses are they going to send for this boy THIS week, I wonder???

I agree with many of you in that these hometown visits are hokey as hell, but I love ‘em.

  • Suzanne

they’re trying to set up a parade on Saturday morning between Millsap and Cool, TX.

On Saturday morning?? Is he getting back to LA later than Crystal and Lee? Oh man.

  • Suzanne

I wonder if the Key Lounge is one of Casey’s old haunts?

  • Thirsty

    googletot:

There were various articles floating around about St. Petersburg planning for Mike’s return. The only thing I heard about Casey’s homecoming was from the Kidd Kraddick show. He asked his listeners to vote for Casey because he’d be on the show if he made Top 3.

As a Casey fan I find it more than a little odd. He wasn’t even in the bottom two after Sinatra week.

If I put my tin hat on, it makes me think they aren’t going to much effort because they want him gone. They’ll give him an awful judge’s choice song, pan or damn with faint praise whatever his second song is, and show a ridiculously edited package about his hometown visit. Then they’ll pray like hell that he goes home so they get their dream Lee and Crystal finale.

If that happens I’ll be pretty pissed.

  • anovich

Reading all this Casey stuff makes me think they had no idea what was going to happen last year with Kris and Allison. Little Rock/Conway had information up on Kris’s homecoming realy quickly after results. There was a plan in place for Allison in LA (was one of the reasons that they had Adam go to San Diego since Allison would be in LA if she got through). Even Season 7 wasn’t this bad. There didn’t seem to be any lack of planning for Syesha and apparently there were also plans in motion for Jason. This actually makes me a little sad for Casey.

  • Suzanne

now we know what Casey is doing with that big chunk of time in the middle of his day–visiting the fine medical professionals who put him back together again after his accident.

    http://www.dfw.com/2010/05/13/276527/more-on-casey-james-return-to.html

You know–I was in an accident in which both of my legs were crushed. (I had a baby and everything.) It was over a year, but I regained my mobility.

I think this is an excellent thing for Casey to do, even if it is a publicity stunt. The trauma teams and the orthopedics teams deserve unending applause for the work they do. For them to see first hand that the work they did resulted in Casey being able to do the things he is doing is fantastic.

Also, maybe AI is scrambling now for a parade between milsap and cool on Sat am because the weather is for rain in Dallas on Friday? (A better parade would be a march in to the Fort Worth Stockyard before the 4 pm concert with his band, but if it’s raining, no one will be standing there.)

  • irby

Could TPTB have really thought that Mike was SO much more likely than Casey to end up in the Top 3? He was in the bottom 2 the week before and had already been voted off once. I am really sick of this Lee pimping and have been since the semis. (I can forgive the Crystal pimping because, IMO, it’s a little more deserved.) I’d never voted before this week, but I’m ready for Tuesday!

  • Suzanne

Could TPTB have really thought that Mike was SO much more likely than Casey to end up in the Top 3?

I think AI had a plan for both of their homecomings but the weather is messing things up in Dallas.

Suzanne, I’m so glad you recovered! I can’t imagine what it must have been like, with a baby and everything.

I’m sure it’s a publicity stunt for Idol, but have no doubt Casey is incredibly grateful to them. That just might make me tear up a little. My dad was in a terrible accident a few years ago that crushed one of his arms and his Ortho team were superstars. My mom still bakes pies for them.

  • irby

Okay, the weather thing makes a little more sense. I guess I’m just so turned off by the Lee pimping/Lee-and-Crystal-as-a-foregone-conclusion that I’m looking for “the bus” everywhere. Hope the good folks in Dallas/Fort Worth show up in full force!

    I FLOOOVE hometown visits :)

  • Indigobunting

But how much input does Idol have on the homecoming agendas, really? I knew someone on the “Danny Day” homecoming committee last year and it seems they planned it all; from TV station, to Fonzie landmark, art museum, Harley Davidson, AT &T, parade, Brewers game, opening up Summerfest for his concert.

They kept his schedule absolutely jam packed with appearances that were very “Milwaukee”- I really had the impression that the city planned it all, excepting the AT&T appearance done by all.

  • alxsavage

Hometown visits are the best part of the final episodes of the season!

They’re almost always very touching, I’ll admit I’ve had to clean a couple of tears after seeing the visits of the ones that weren’t my favorites (like Gokey and Kris last season).

I hope Crystal performs her cover of If It Makes You Happy. All of her originals are awesome, so I’ll be looking forward to that too.

  • mozart4898

Not sure where exactly you’re from but my suggestion would probably be on the concert at the fairgrounds. Tons of room there and it’s free. Although if you’re looking to actually have a chance to meet her, you’re right, the AT&T store might be a better idea. Not familiar with it though…I’d say there’s a pretty good chance there could be a gigantic crowd there and it may be even more difficult to meet her (or even see her) than at one of the “bigger” events just cause of how small of a place it would be.

Myself personally, I’m planning to be at the concert at the fairgrounds at least. Might go to see the parade/concert in downtown Toledo as well but not sure. Her schedule sure is packed though! Oh, and for the person who seemed to think she won’t do any original songs (at least I thought that’s what you were getting at), I really figure she will – they just probably won’t use clips of any of that on TV because of the whole copyright thing. Stupid, cause I’m sure she’d give them permission to use the footage…at least I’d think she would.

Please vote like crazy for Casey next week…

Yes vote vote vote. We are talking to everyone we know to vote for Casey and explaining about the motorcycle accident etc. And sending his music links and getting GREAT response. Do what you can to encourage folks to pick up the phone and hit redial.

And yes, Keys ….Casey played there.

  • JW

Heck my 70 year old neighbor is going to program the idol number for Casey into her phone and hit redial for two hours. Come on Casey fans…….help us get folks to stop the pimp wagon! :)

  • mozart4898

Kinda disappointed for Casey too if they really weren’t preparing, figuring he wouldn’t make it. He’s not my favorite but at this point they really all should have the same sort of effort put into plans for these visits even if TPTB didn’t think they’d be in the top 3. There was no absolute guarantee that Crystal and Lee would make it either – yes, one of them had to, but no one really could say for sure who (or if both) would, yet they’ve had all kinds of plans in the works for a couple weeks now.

Shocked honestly that at least from these descriptions, it seems Crystal has the biggest schedule, at least as far as number of events. Heck, she’s on TV tonight already! I’m guessing that the list for Crystal might just be more detailed at this point and that Lee’s schedule is probably similar – I have to think he’s on the radio at some point or another too, for example.

I would love to go to the Mud Hens game. Best team name EVER.

Maybe Texas isn’t ready for Casey because he isn’t the only one who’s never seen this goofy show. ;)

OTOH, Casey’s fans (of which I am definitely one. No matter who wins now, I won’t be crying in my cornflakes) could take heart in the lack of planning on AI’s part: it’s proof that they aren’t rigging the results–beyond what happens at the judges’ table, of course.

Yeah, I’ll definitely need kleenex for the doctor visit. *sniff*

Lol Crystal hadn’t seen the show either as I understand it. And Toledo has a thing for weird names for their teams. Their minor league hockey team is called the Walleye – but one of the names that was considered before that was the Woodpeckers. And they’d trademarked “‘Peckers” as a nickname while working on a team name choice. Not even kidding.

Since people comment on everything here too, I’ll comment on the picture of the top 3, lol. To me, Lee has a look of “are you serious, I’m really still here?” Crystal and Casey’s looks to me pretty much say to me “this is me, take it or leave it.” I don’t see why so many people find the “aw shucks, me?” attitude that endearing (Lee), to me, if you don’t have confidence in yourself, why should I? Then throw in that it seems that Lee’s getting a bit cocky himself at this point, and it really just turns me off. I much prefer people like Crystal or Casey that just put it out there, and are comfortable with what they do…and to an extent almost don’t care whether you like every single thing they do. The music industry has gotten to the sad state it’s in today because of artists pandering to what the masses want to see and not having their own identity. Lee’s attitude just seems to me to encourage someone to mold him and push him in a direction to make him “marketable,” not making him an artist in my eyes.

Lol…I need to quit ranting all the time…

  • Tess

Typical home town visits…nothing new. And the bigger and more cosmopolitan they are the less the idol will be “bowed” down to. Most peeps have better things to do with their time and energy then to head out to make-shift parades and to fill stands hoping they can get their face shown on national TV. I think it is all silly and superficial….the only thing I may watch is Casey’s visit to the hospital staff that put him back together again…’cause that really is about dedicated professionals who train long and hard to help put lives back together. The rest is just silly fluff that has no impact on anything. (And I am this cynical about every Idol home-town visit…)

  • Liva

Then throw in that it seems that Lee’s getting a bit cocky himself at this point…

Was this when he teared up and repeatedly said thank you to the crowd and his fans? ;-)

I think the home visit scope of activity speak more to the efficiency of the local administrators and the size of their budget than anything conspiratorial regarding producer/judge favorites. It is too bad they press certain contestants over others. For the contestants’ sake, anyway, it’s too bad. TV ratings probably swell when perceived underdogs make a surge. Contestant futures, be damned.

I am so excited for Casey, Crystal, and Lee but LOL mostly Casey! I personally love the home comings. They are so heartwarming and I cry every time.

I am trying not to get angry with how AI is treating Casey because I just want to be happy and excited for him. I wish I could be there but I can’t wait to see the video on Wednesday!

I will be voting like crazy on Tuesday for Casey and Casey only!

  • Mariam94

I’m very HAPPY with the top 3! I think they’ve all been great this season.

I’m kinda bummed that the judges are pimping Lee though, cause I really like him and want him in the top 2, but the judges are causing people to not want to vote for him :/ From almost everything I’ve read here, it seems like people want a Crystal/Casey finale.

  • Mariam94

Oh, does anyone know which part of Texas Casey is from? Cause I’m from there & it’d be cool to see him on the news! Haha :D

    Yeah. What an a$$hole.

I can only conclude that one person’s “Crystal’s trying not to cry” is another person’s “Crystal’s got a bitchface.” And until we get to hear serious interviews with these folks and/or listen to what they have to say from the stage on tour, we don’t know sh*t about what they’re really like. And maybe not even then, tho my observation is that Idols are less plastic than most entertainment folk out there.

So I’m gonna cheer for all three, support my homeboy by yelling from the stands tomorrow, and hope to god I don’t end up on national TEEvee. That would be nasty.

  • Justin8602

I’m so confused by all the Lee hate. If he is being “pimped” I think it’s deserved. In my opinion he is way better than Casey and Lee doesn’t sing off key all the time. I know I’m not tone deaf, he’s only had one bad week and that was this week. I admit that he was off in parts on Kiss From A Rose but it was by no means horrible. Casey going into the finale over Lee is just as ridiculous IMHO as several of the past winners who had managed to win the title over their more talented competition, ie S2, S5 and S8. I know people will definitely disagree on that last point, that’s just the way I see it. I truly think America does not always get it right. I’m not lecturing or expecting everyone to love Lee, I just feel a need to defend him from all the hate.
I also find it funny that people who seemingly couldn’t give two shits to vote all season are going to power vote for Casey just to try and screw over lee. It reminds of the die hard Gokey fans last year who decided we don’t give a crap about Kris, but we can’t let Adam win so we’ll vote like hell for Kris. I mean if I didn’t particularly care for any of the contestants left, I certainly wouldn’t waste my energy on voting for one just because I think another one is being unfairly “pimped”. I would just not vote at all.

  • irby

I’ve never voted before this week, but I’ve been a Casey fan all season. (The only other male contestant I got excited about was Alex Lambert who, unlike Lee, I could have seen as a real underdog with an inspiring “improvement” trajectory. But, alas, it wasn’t to be.) I don’t see my starting to vote now as “trying to screw over Lee,” it’s that I seriously think that Casey is more deserving. It probably was brought on in part because Lee has been getting, IMO, undeserved praise and hasn’t been called out for pitch problems and flubbing lyrics. And when Casey’s had awesome performances – like Jealous Guy – his praise has not been anywhere near over the top. This was not the first week Lee’s had pitch problems – in fact Sinatra week was the only time he HASN’T had pitch problems. He was all over the place on “Hey Jude” AND forgot lyrics, yet nobody mentioned those issues if I recall correctly. (They did complain about pitch problems for Jealous Guy, though, oddly enough.) In short, it’s more that Lee’s getting pimped, in my view, at Casey’s expense.

  • chearts77

JW, Casey fan here…pumped and ready to vote till my fingers fall off on Tuesday. They almost did this past Tuesday. LOL!! So it felt anyway. They were so sore and stiff that it was very difficult to come here at 11 pm and type anything. LOL!! I know MANY Casey fans ready to go. Super excited!! I wish the weather in Dallas/Ft. Worth would cooperate for Casey’s homecoming. I’m sure he’ll get good turn out. I love this part of the show. :)

  • Liva

If Crystal said Lee was her musical crush — “It’s just my admiration for a musician because I like the way they play or the certain soul or feeling that they have” — would that convince anyone of his authenticity and sincerity? ;-)

I have no doubt that if the final 3 could, they would attend each others hometown celebration. Their fans, on the other hand, would probably brawl if caught on enemy turf

  • quiche2

A happy fan at the racetrack ending up on TV? Nothing nasty about that! If you broke out into sobs a la the Beatles on Ed Sullivan, well then … maybe.

  • mozart4898

Lol see the backlash against Lee (including, to be honest, from me) is mostly a result of the pimping he’s gotten from the judges which, in many people’s opinions (but not all) has been undeserved. He HAS had frequent pitch problems, and has had other problems too. But none of them are perfect. Crystal’s by far my favorite but she’s hit a couple bum notes (not many, but I’ve heard a couple), and has the same issue as many of them that without a guitar, she’s not very good at working the stage. Lee wouldn’t get the hate he does, IMO, if he hadn’t been pimped now for so long, even after performances that were really not good (Shania Twain week, for example…and The Boxer wasn’t too great live as I recall either). If they wouldn’t have been so OTT in praising him for weeks, I probably would be frustrated at this point with the voters for getting him where he is. But at this point, instead, I’ve gotten frustrated with HIM, and it’s not really his fault. It’s the judges/TPTB telling me he’s good, when I don’t think he is. It gets transferred to him though.

See…it’s working. Even if the show itself isn’t that exciting, they’re getting people talking! Some buzz is better than no buzz at all.

See…it’s working. Even if the show itself isn’t that exciting, they’re getting people talking! Some buzz is better than no buzz at all.

It’s interesting how all this works. I’m much more vocal this year than I’ve ever been, because *I’m* annoyed with all the “god this year sucks” stuff that the journalists keep bloviating about…I read the Salon column for the first time today and jeez, if she hates the show that much, why in god’s name does she waste her time writing about it? Go write about something uplifting, like Mein Kampf…but I digresss.

Their OTT dissing makes me pimp ALL the kids that much more, because they’re working so hard and they don’t deserve the barrage of hate directed at their imperfections. David Cook will be, for me, the alltime greatest Idol ever, even if Elvis comes back from the dead and tries out, but even he wasn’t perfect.

This is exactly my problem with the whole thing. I liked Casey from the get, but didn’t mind Lee. When Simon told him on the top 12 Guys night of the semifinals that he had the best voice in the competition I was puzzled. That guy? The one who just ruined Chasing Cars? And they have been telling us how fantastic he is ever since.

Some honest critique for Lee early on could have done him a world of good. Instead he’s gotten the ‘you can totally win this just believe in yourself you special little caterpillar who will be a lovely butterfly by the finale’ softball critiques. This week was the first week they’ve done more than brush over his pitch issues, and even the negative critiques were loaded with ‘but you’re so great’ and ‘you’re still really good’ crap (aside from Simon who called him a contestant).

And, probably wrongly, I was irritated by his answer on results night when he said he always felt sorry for the ones who ended up on ‘that side’ of the stage. He probably didn’t mean it, but it sounded terribly condescending. (Was also irritated at the extremely rude Lee fans screeching over Casey trying to talk, but that’s not Lee’s fault.) It seems like he’s buying into the hype.

I am more looking forward to the Dr. visit as that is the real thing and Casey is doing something Docs never said he would. That is a story for me and I am so proud of him for pulling it off and defying odds…overcoming. I suspect the accident is part of the reason he appears “stiff” on stage. My family is in Dallas and Ft. Worth, although I now reside in Florida so I am working the Florida voters. :) My sister told me there was a “watching party” for Casey on Tuesday night. Where else? Its even funnier when you consider 19 will get their way in the end regardless of how the voting goes. If they’re pimping Lee because he’s their pick even if he doesnt win they’ll sign him and give him special treatment. Been there and done that.

Tell one something often enough and they start to believe it and get too full of themselves and that could well be the case here. Lee has been difficult for me to watch and listen to with his out of tune vocals and the facial gyrations…like a goat chewing a cud sometimes. :) Sometimes it is better to be the underdog, cause there are many who will go for the underdog and that could work to Casey’s advantage and keep his base riled and that is what we want. If Casey was being pimped, you have to know there would be angst about that too and others power voting for his opponent. I don’t care what the judges say, I vote for the one I think is best and I present that MOST people are surely not swayed by these inept judges at this point in the game. Merely irritated and will do the opposite of what they suggest. Ellen has become a real turn off and I question some of her “organ” jokes considering this is a family show and children watch.

Well said, wjmtv (your name just rolls off the tongue)! Rarely did I ever comment before on any blog, but hey-suse, I grew weary of the pundits slagging this year’s talent. The three remaining represent exactly the styles of music that is in my collection. I have a soft spot for Lee, to be fair, but only because I know how it feels to be that insecure. So well done to him to challenge his fears and confront his personal weaknesses. But man, I shake my fist at the TV with the rest of them when the judges underpraise Casey, and groan when they’re ambivalent to Crystal. I do hear the judges calling Lee out on various issues, but they often seem to follow it up with a ‘but’. Ah, it *is* all perception, isn’t it?

And mozart4898, you’re right – it’s all designed for buzz. Manipulative bastards!

So to stay on topic, wjmtv, I hope you have great fun at the celebration. And give him an ‘atta boy’ from me!

I dont hate Lee either and If I say anything against him it has nothing to do with the judges pimping, he just plain cannot sing in tune – that and his always startled looks – that bugs me – and in any other year we wouldnt even be having this discussion about Lee, he just would not still be there to discuss

I suggest that most have been voting all season and want their favorite to win regardless of Lee and it has nothing to do with him personally, but ones who choose to vote now are sick of the judges and their pimping and frankly, like Casey better. They tell Lee how out of tune he is and then tell him he is great. What is wrong with this pix? THAT is the complaint but it comes with the territory. Judges thought Daughtry was the one and had him so pumped and pimped that he was totally astonished that America didn’t agree. His look told it all. The judges do a dis-serivce to the contestant in my opinion and I wish they would critique the vocals in a constructive way and keep their bias out of it. Our job is the bias and voting. :)

Can I ask the distance, 45 min.?, between the concert in Toledo and the Ottawa Fairgrounds? My children and I are driving up from Dayton tomorrow! Woot!!! :D Is the one in Toledo at a venue?

Lee doesn’t sound like a lamb and I feel the same way and think that win or lose Lee will the most sell cd’s, singles and improve over the next few months. Here’s a pre idol show of his and shows a very different side of Lee in concert. Granted he needs a new younger looking band but look how engaging, confident and into the song Lee is:

I don’t hate Lee. I wish him the best. I don’t recall a single time I have heard him sing and not be off key. IMO he is being pimped and it is not deserved. How can an off tune singer be told by judges he is off tune and then tell him he is great? That is the question and the irritation…with the judges…not with Lee personally. For me, Casey is way better than Lee so it is all perception of the vocals. I have purchased Casey tunes and nada from Lee. If we all agree we wouldn’t have anything to discuss. :) I respectively disagree that Lee will sell the most. I think Casey will do quite well for himself in Nashville. :) And the sooner the better for me.

I just had an email from a friend and missed this but am curious. One had mentioned in an earlier post the indifference of the idols this year when one was called safe and in particular mentioned Casey of course. :( See below:

When she was (Crystal) pronounced safe, she whipped out a little harmonica-like thing from her pocket and blew on it as she returned to contestants’ bench. Struck me as smug, silly, and inconsiderate conduct to draw attention to herself, while the ones who really were in the bottom list stood there sweating it.

HUH? The race is that close????? Good news if a few votes for Casey will knock Crystal out.

I think the race between Crystal and Lee is very close now, and on Tuesday you don’t know where the votes will go. All the millions of people voting for Mike? Those who still vote will vote for whom? You don’t know what will happen on the night. Last year, Danny was ahead of Kris every week until top 3 (according to Zabasearch, which I know isn’t Gospel, but dialidol doesn’t conflict with that contention). I bet a lot of people thought Kris would be out and that it would be Adam and Danny for sure in the final. But look what happened.

Vote for the person you want to win and you’ll never regret how many times you hit redial.

I always vote for the person I want to win. Zaba and Dialidol can’t measure texting and many text so I think that is the inconsistency seen. It is a good guide but certainly I would not go to the bank on it. :)

I think the race is a lot closer with all THREE of them personally and don’t see it a run-a-way for any of them. Many don’t vote I believe until near the end and base their votes on what they see and hear and don’t know all of the biases that we have. :) Yes, I know what you mean as I was a Danny fan last year and I have often posted here that strange things happen and for that reason I DON’T count Casey out as so many have. I have learned over the years of watching that what is printed is just one person’s opinion and America often sees it differently and from the Idols I have seen chosen, I really think Casey fits the mold better this year and will not be surprised if he wins! I would love it for him but if he doesn’t, he has already made a better life for himself and has a great future IMO.

Lee- can he hit any note?

I’d be just fine with Casey knocking Lee out of the finale, but not Crystal. My main concern is that Lee’s fan base is bigger than Crystal’s, and if Casey knocks either one out then it will be her. And since I believe she’s amazing and any so called ‘pimping’ the judges have thrown her way has been well deserved, I’m choosing to vote only for her, while rooting in my mind that Casey, by some miracle, knocks out Lee—esp. if he performs better than him next Tues., regardless of what the judges say.

Well, I surely understand your wanting your fav to win. I don’t know who has the larger fan base at this point of the THREE. This next week might come down to who has the worse case of nerves and flubs it. Casey seems pretty calm and Lee is so intense. He may not go baaaaa…but his facial contortions are worse IMO. I know Casey has fans of all ages. Idol and Casey was a big discussion last night with a large group and I know one 70 year and 67 year old who are planning a vote for him. Only complaint I hear from this age group is he needs hair cut. :) I will not even tell you what they said about Crystal. Lee was not even on their chart. So it must be the teenies for Lee. Did you see the sign in the audience of AI wherein Aarons name had been crossed out and Casey’s written in for prom night? I believe he has fans of all ages. He is calm, polite, gracious and the older generation noticed that.

Last year, I wanted Adam to win, but wanted Kris to make T2. So I voted for Kris at T3. Sure enough, Kris made the T2 — and beat Adam. If Danny had been the other finalist, I’m convinced Adam would have won.

Do I regret voting for Kris at T2? Not really. Adam’s doing fine without having won, and I like Kris — I wasn’t just voting against Danny. But it does make me wonder whether Adam was more vulnerable at T3 and whether he’d have made it into the T2 if more of his fans had split their votes, as I did.

So this year, even though I would prefer Casey to make the T2 over Lee “Singing Bravely Through the Proctoscopy”** DeWyze, I’m voting for Crystal, and only Crystal.

**Credit for “Singing Bravely Through the Proctoscopy” belongs to Bastille over at TWoP. I wish I’d thought of it myself.

I hope this is the Lee we get to see tomorrow and on tour.

Thank you for this link/site AIaddict – Lee has a bunch of awesome videos there… we Lee fans are fortunate indeed! :)

Say what you will about Lee, he’s getting a recording contract. Simon has seen Lee’s potential from the beginning of the season. Lee seems to want to win but with all the Lee hate going on here I think it may be best he doesn’t so that he does not have to go thru what poor Taylor Hicks is still going thru all these years later after his win. I mean so what that Daughtry became more successful just like we all knew he would but give Taylor credit. Taylor makes a great living doing what he loves to do. How many of us can say that? So I will be happy with whatever place Lee comes in. I will definitely be buying his cd.

It would be nice to have a crystal ball wouldn’t it? Who knows how any of this will turn out split vote or not, or if the ones split last year made a difference. I have never split my vote as there has never been more than one fav. Just worked out that way. As for Adam, I think personally that he was just too over the top for some and that he was not going to get the prize no matter what. Kris or Danny are more mainstream and I really think from looking at the prior winners that is the rule rather than the exception. I was a Danny fan last year and found Kris very bland. Adam is very talented and while I don’t particularly care for all of his antics, I thought he was an excellent mentor and I would love to see him as a judge on AI. Kris is a nice guy and I have never listened to his music as it is just not my style. I wasn’t terribly disappointed that Danny didn’t make it through and I actually though Adam might pull it off. But I kept telling my hubby that I just thought mainstream America would find him bizarre and that would cost him the title. Just MPO.

I don’t know how Crystal will be looked at in the long run as she is different with the dreadlocks, lip piercing and big tattoo on her back and she has the attitude of arguing with the judges. We will see how that plays out and if she will be penalized in the final judging.

With all said, I would love to have Crystal and Casey as the top two. But, anything can happen and we may all get a big surprise and Lee and Casey top 2. Shudder.

Yep and I was and am a huge Taylor fan. All of these guys have come a long way and are much better off than ever and my congrats go to all of them. Including Lee…although he is not my fav. I know he will appreciate your purchase. :)

Can I ask the distance, 45 min.?, between the concert in Toledo and the Ottawa Fairgrounds? My children and I are driving up from Dayton tomorrow! Woot!!! Is the one in Toledo at a venue?

It’s probably close to 45 minutes, maybe not quite that on a normal day but might take longer tomorrow. The address for the fairgrounds is 7870 W State Route 163, Oak Harbor, OH. If you’re planning on coming to Toledo for the parade/mini concert there, it’s not a venue as I’m understanding it – it’s basically just like a square in Toledo (I’m from the area but honestly don’t know all of Toledo really really well and I’m not sure where they’re talking myself, lol…but really, if you head for downtown, you’ll find it, the parade route is the main street on the west side of the river in Toledo). From Toledo though, you take SR 51 (Woodville Rd) south to just past the town of Genoa, and turn east on SR 163 (there’s a little Mexican restaurant at the intersection). From there, it’s like 10 miles to Oak Harbor and the fairgrounds is about 3 miles east of Oak Harbor. I guarantee though, by the time you get to Oak Harbor, there will be no question which way to go! We’re not talking big roads here so the traffic will pretty much all be going the same place. Mapquest’s directions are good from what I see. Plus, if you map from downtown Toledo to the fairgrounds, you can see the little tiny dot on the map that’s Elliston, northeast of Genoa…but you gotta zoom in to see it!

My votes have been based on consistancy, and Lee and Crystal have done just that. What I want to know is, how does I guy who had to take off his shirt just to get to Hollywood make it to the final 3?

  • mozart4898

So this year, even though I would prefer Casey to make the T2 over Lee “Singing Bravely Through the Proctoscopy”** DeWyze, I’m voting for Crystal, and only Crystal.

Agreed. I was actually worried last night that people who would have voted for Crystal assumed that since she was, according to the judges, “back in the game” after Tuesday and therefore safe, instead voted for their 2nd favorite to get them through. I would really fear for that at this point too. It’s not a time to be generous to any of the others…it’s time to vote for only your favorite (although I encourage fans of Casey and Lee to split and give Crystal votes too, lol).

  • JW

(although I encourage fans of Casey and Lee to split and give Crystal votes too, lol).

LIKEWISE! FOR FANS OF CRYSTAL AND LEE to split and vote for Casey. :)

Ain’t gonna happen y’all. :) Casey. Casey. Casey. Casey. :)

  • JW

Diehard fans are not going to split their votes. We are in a minority as most don’t take this as seriously as we do. :)

  • googletot

it’s time to vote for only your favorite (although I encourage fans of Casey and Lee to split and give Crystal votes too, lol).

Not me – Casey gets my votes for 2 hours straight! I’ve never split votes for anybody, although I’ve hardly voted throughout the years.

  • Liva

So Fox Toledo has started live-streaming ‘Crystal-watch’…

  • JW

Only two contestants have garnered 2 hours of straight voting for me with 2 land lines and a cell phone. First was Taylor and now Casey! :) I voted a few times for Carrie Underwood but never felt the passion I have for Taylor and Casey. I even have hubby texting for Casey and he did a great job last week! :)

  • JW

I’m sorry. I just can’t watch Crystal. I can listen to her but I don’t enjoy watching her. :(

  • Liva

She has ‘exited’ the plane, and now is on her way to the station in a Ford Flex… this, along with a beer is going to be a fun(ny) night! Lee exits the plane also. A twist!

  • mozart4898

Ok Crystal just got off the plane in Toledo…my question, why did Lee come to Toledo instead of getting dropped off in Chicago? Lol that’s just plain weird. Unless it’s cause it’s central time there and we’re eastern, lol…

  • http://twitter.com/cara_lee pj

If Crystal said Lee was her musical crush — “It’s just my admiration for a musician because I like the way they play or the certain soul or feeling that they have” — would that convince anyone of his authenticity and sincerity? ;-)

No. I think Lee has a huge problem with pitch. I also can’t figure out who he is as an artist. I get that Crystal and Lee are friends. Crystal is who I hope wins, but I am not going to take her musical crush as gospel.

Unless one of them bombs, I’ll probably vote for both Casey and Crystal. The whole splitting votes thing doesn’t matter to me, because I’m not too invested.

  • mozart4898

Lol and by the way, the vote splitting thing was a joke :-) I know that the hardcore fans aren’t going to split votes, and I totally understand – I won’t either.

  • Liva

Ok, maybe fun is overstating… Frankie May is playing at Papa’s tavern tonight, and no one in the crowd waiting for Crystal at the Fox studios has seen her live. Support your local live music joints! Those Ford Flexes don’t move very fast.

  • Liva

We’re now on ‘elevator-watch’, still waiting for Crystal’s arrival. It’s only a half an hour’s drive from the Toledo airport to the Fox studios. Imagine that.

  • Liva

No one knows what door she’s to arrive through, so there’s a scramble. Chaos! Dozens of people scampering. She’s on the 475. How will the Ford Flex handle on the highway?

  • http://twitter.com/cara_lee pj

Thanks, JW. Honestly, if I gave all three of them the same amount of votes it would be pointless. But if I give two of them the same… it’s not. So, there you have it. I have a top two that I prefer, but I don’t think it will pan out. :-/ My heart will not be broken either way.

  • mozart4898

Lol that’s great…she comes out of the elevator with a camera herself.

  • Liva

Yes, mozart! How many people can fit on a Fox studio elevator? It had to be 10, with cameras, lights and a large security guy. Tiny Crystal exits last, camera in hand. She looks stunned at all the attention. She infers her fans are CRAYZAY!

  • Mariam94

I’m from Texas & Lee has got my vote. Sure, he may be out of tune alot of the time, but I’ve enjoyed alot of his performances & studio version. I guess if Casey beats him for the spot then what can I do? I’ll still go buy his CD no matter what. I guess it’s just not anticipating & getting to see him sing one more week that disappoints me.

  • Liva

To be honest, I find this more interesting than the ‘If I Can Dream House’ (sans Idols). Although, Simon Fuller says the web reality experience is at the forefront of future entertainment, or something of that nature. I’ll be elsewhere, if that’s the case.

The Star-Telegram reports that Casey will go from the AT&T store in Grapevine to Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth to visit patients and talk to the doctor who treated him after his motorcycle accident. Then he goes to Keys Lounge (keyslounge.com) to perform, then to the Stockyards. I might go to the AT&T store, as it is only 20 minutes from my house.

James is then scheduled to visit Harris Methodist Fort Worth, where, according to Fox-4’s Brandon Todd, James will meet with patients as well as with the doctor who treated him after his motorcycle accident several years ago.

At 1:30, James is scheduled to join his old bandmates for a performance at 5677 Westcreek in southwest Fort Worth. More info is on the Keys’ Facebook page.

What a grim photo. Crystal looks pissed, Casey looks annoyed and Lee looks sheepish.

Funny how people see it differently. To me they all look a little like they’re missing a friend. Casey looks sad (about Mike getting voted out?) or stunned (that he didn’t get voted out?), Crystal looks ready for the picture taking session to be over already – damn it, and Lee looks like he’s trying to keep a brave face.

They’re probably all thinking “When’s dinner?”

I’m glad to see all of these plans for Casey – it was kinda disturbing earlier that it didn’t seem there was much planned for him. The story about the motorcycle accident, while I don’t think it’s something that should dominate his whole background, is really inspirational. I mean from things I’ve heard he defied odds just by surviving, and now to be doing just what he wants to do and to be where he is – regardless of how you feel about him as a contestant, you have to hand it to him.

THANKS for this! Sweet. This says a lot about Casey. It sure seems like to me he is just grateful to be alive and playing and perhaps that is why he seems to take things in stride and seemingly beat his own drum. He appears so calm and no doubt thankful and whatever happens with Idol is small in the whole scheme of things. I can’t think of a better tribute than to pay homage to patients and give thanks to Docs who did not give him good odds. Things happen for a reason IMO and he has come a long way and I can only believe there is much left for him to do. To be told he would never play again and to pick the way he does is incredible and a gift!!!!!!! Strange twists may happen y’all. Bless his heart. :)

I listened to Mrs. Robinson, the studio version, just now. Wanted to give Casey a chance to win me over. [A little because I find your whole-hearted fangirl spirit really cool, JW! It's sweet, and I hope he appreciates fans like you.] But I just…I just don’t like Casey’s singing. I mean, he sucked all the meaning out of Mrs. Robinson. It was just a collection of lyrics. Listen to the Paul Simon original. It’s a sneaky ear worm that has so much inherent irony, and so many dimensions. Casey is so danged earnest. There’s no shading.

Now I also listened to Falling Slowly, and although I’m not a Kris fan, he captures the melancholy beauty of that song. Lee is another bombastic singer without any levels. He just belts that gorgeous song, and Crystal’s soprano is just plowed over by him. I don’t think he has the least understanding of phrasing that she does [it killed me that her gorgeous Summer Wind was so unappreciated, and his That's Life - which sounded like a frat boy after a ten drink binge at Ruby Tuesday's - was lauded.] It’s all the same level of LOUD. It’s nice, but it misses everything poignant.

I dunno, for me (for you) Crystal is something special. She gets that soft to loud ratio. She makes me feel. This indie video she did with her baby’s father is just beautiful.

Just looked it up, it’s 43604.

I still can’t get over the sort of talent it takes to pull off songs like that with just a guitar. And so much feeling put into everything she does performing – barely an hour after landing back on the ground, then whisked to a TV studio for interviews, and then performing, and she’s just right on, off the bat. If that’s not professional, I don’t know what is. And just so down to earth when they talk to her, and yet, seems very articulate in front of the camera.

So this year, even though I would prefer Casey to make the T2 over Lee “Singing Bravely Through the Proctoscopy”** DeWyze, I’m voting for Crystal, and only Crystal.

YES, it is counterproductive to split votes at this point in the competition. Any one of the three can be voted off next week and not make it to the finals. I want to see Crystal get to the finals so I’m only voting for her. I don’t really care who else makes it as long as she’s one of the final two left standing.

I also feel that Lee’s fanbase is larger than Crystal’s and Casey’s is catching up to Lee so she may very well be the one voted off next week if there is vote-splitting. I’m NOT splitting votes – only voting for Crystal as often as possible.

Those of you who are going to Toledo tomorrow, have fun! I’ll try to watch some of the festivities on live stream:).

Lee is a alternative folk rocker.

To me, Lee seems to be everything that they hated about Kris Allen last year. Unshowy and slightly awkward strummy strummy nouveau-folk guitar boy with good looks. I’ll never understand TPTB.

yes except for the “good looks” …I do not find Lee attractive.

  • songsungblue

I don’t know, the only original one to me is Crystal. Casey is a blond Bo Bice – he’s an excellent guitarist, but I feel absolutely nothing when he sings. He’s your classic Southern rocker, but if anything, “Freezing” is an example of how ordinary he is, IMO. I lived in Arkansas for a long time, and I heard bands with singers like him everywhere. Also, he’s a butterface. Heh.

For me, Lee is Dave Matthews with a lobotomy. ;)

I’m not expecting everyone to agree or anything. I thought Siobhan was horrendous, and you’ll find people swearing that her voice = the heavens opening. So what do I know? :)

Just looked it up, it’s 43604.

I cannot believe I am going to see Crystal live today!!! Yes, today! I have been waiting for this since I saw her cover, “Piece of my Heart” on YT before the top 24 was even revealed. (Yay, spoilers!). Oh, and then I saw a YT of a song to her son! I’m so thrilled!!!! Honestly she has not disappointed me yet. This girl is going places! She’s so amazing!

Thank you again for all of your info., mozart!!!!

No problem. Maybe we’ll bump into each other although I doubt it, lol. I just found out a few weeks back reading a newspaper article that she actually had played gigs in my town and I didn’t even know it. I could have seen her live before she ever was on the show and never did! Oh well…

It’s all a matter of perspective. I can find you 20 Crystals in Chicago. White girl with dreads in a coffee shop. I’m not saying she isn’t good. I’m saying she’s not unique. I don’t think Casey is as charismatic as Bo, but he could probably give him a run for his money in terms of guitar playing. I’m guessing. They didn’t let Bo play on the show. Too bad. I don’t think it’s a bad thing to be compared to Bo, BTW. Just sayin.

  • songsungblue

Of course, you’re right pj. It is a matter of perspective. But I’ve spent a lot of time in New York and San Francisco coffee houses and on the subway – and I’ve never heard a singer with as much presence and commitment as Crystal. That doesn’t mean they don’t exist. Hell, maybe they all deserve her break. But yeah, there are singers who look like her. But having dreads doesn’t make you Crystal.

Bo had his shot. He fumbled, maybe he’s on to something better now. He was certainly a charismatic entertainer. But I never found his original music very good. Lee’s is actually better. I wouldn’t buy it, but that’s just taste.

I wish all 3 the best…..the vibes I get from the TOP 3 are …1 thinks they have it all figured out….1 seems clueless….and 1 reminds me of Beavis & (Butthead).

  • http://twitter.com/cara_lee pj

I don’t think any of the top 3 have enough swagger or confidence. Someone mentioned this the other day. They look like they’re so scared, and it’s part of the problem. Lee especially.

I dunno, for me (for you) Crystal is something special. She gets that soft to loud ratio. She makes me feel. This indie video she did with her baby’s father is just beautiful.

Thank you! Just another amazing moment with Crystal! Wow! Words cannot describe….

Gotta get some sleep if I’m driving to Toledo tomorrow early.

Oh, and sadly, the fact that Lee is Crystal’s musical crush made me lose a little respect for her. She could have said Ani.

Don’t get me wrong. I think she deserves to win. I’m just not all that enthused.

Lol…I can’t quite figure out who is which there actually – I’d guess you mean Crystal thinks she has it all figured out, Casey is clueless, and Lee is Beavis or Butthead. Can’t say I quite agree (with any of those really) but it’s an interesting description.

I’m not exactly sure what she really meant by that anyways. It’s one of the few times she’s said something that I just kinda groaned a little inside. I think she really respects how dedicated he is to his music and it has something to do with that – maybe she sees a good bit of herself in how he is too. I don’t know though, and I didn’t make much of anything of the comment afterwards.

Lee’s local paper is the Daily Herald. They’ve set up a twitter page to follow the festivities Friday: http://twitter.com/leedewyzeday

Also, there’s a story about him in Thursday’s edition that tells a lot about what the hometown folks have been doing to support him: http://www.dailyherald.com/story/?id=380561

^^^ Good find on the performance clips. Yeah the quality isn’t the greatest – I wonder if the video that was actually aired will show up on there (I’m guessing people connect a DVR or something to a computer? I dunno, I don’t have DVR, although I could figure out how to get video from a TV to a computer if I had it set up to do it live.) The other interesting thing I didn’t mention that came from her little mini-concert on there was that she said before she did “Gray Haired Rockstar” that she’s been trying to get them to let her do it on the show! If that’s true (and she doesn’t seem like she’d make that up), my already sky-high respect for this girl went even higher. I just wish they’d ok it. I know the talk was that people might go “WTF?” to a song they don’t know on the show, but I’m thinking at this point they’ve got their big supporters anyways – it’s not going to hurt them. Anyways though, I’m sure she’ll do fine regardless.

(And wow am I an insomniac…)

I love Lee, and I think the comments here from the Casey fans are absolutely hilarious. Lee’s only got the teenie vote, huh? We’ll see. He’s got you all running scared, huh? No worries…I love me some Casey and Crystal, too, and don’t feel the need to bash them to make Lee look even better.

  • lucy

Well, it depends on what they see in the competition, as well, I think. … Kris was competing with a couple of very big male voices in Danny and Adam that they thought could probably cash in big. This year, Lee’s competing with a completely different set of genres and genders. I figure they just see his as the one where the most money may be.

I’m guessing that they also have made the judgment — rightly or wrongly — that Lee’s pre-Idol music output may be easier to commercially capitalize on quickly than Kris’s was.

Honestly, though, I don’t think they disliked Kris. They just liked some other people a bit better — and when I say “like,” I mean “see as saleable.” lol

“Freezing” is an example of how ordinary he is, IMO. I lived in Arkansas for a long time, ..

I couldn’t disagree more. There is nothing ordinary about Freezing and his delivery for me.

I agree with PJ (think it was) that one will see many ordinary singers just like Crystal. Dreadlocks and all. For me there have been no really outstanding moments to the point that I can even tell you what she sang. There are too many distractions for me with her to even get to her music. What I recall most about Crystal and her vocals was the group number AFTER Sinatra night and I thought both she and CASEY were STRONG! And I couldn’t see the dreadlocks as much due to the hat! :)

As for Lee having only teen fans, who said that to be the gospel truth? All we can do is speculate as no one knows for sure on who the fans are with the exception of our postings and bias showing through. :) By seeing the prom sign for Casey in the audience, that surely tells me he has teen fans! :) Just because one doesn’t care for Lee’s music doesn’t make them a silly Casey fan or feel like there is big overwhelming Lee threat. :) Quite the contare. I have consistently said I wish the best for Lee but I don’t like his music or his performance style. I think Casey is the best of the three overall. For me top two are Crystal/Casey. Lee doesn’t even close IMO.

As for Kris Allen, he has good vocals but didn’t reach me musically as Casey does. And he is so easy on the eyes.

I get it with Casey and I love the bluesy delivery. :) To each his own…that what makes the world go round. :) C.A.S.E.Y. :)

Oh, I didn’t hate Kris Allen last year. I was neutral pretty much when it came to Kris and really didn’t give him much thought other than he is a great looking guy! :) Danny was my favorite, but I didn’t even vote last year so that shows the devotion thereof, and it appeared that Danny and Adam would be top 2, but alas, as so often happens, the one least expected propels through and surprise, surprise. Many twists and turns with top 3. All are blessed to be where they are and have won already! YAY!

Me too! As I have often said. At the end of the day, it doesn’t effect me one way or the other, but I am so pulling for Casey as he has overcome so much and on top of it I love his music and pickin’. That doesn’t mean I “hate” the others at all. I can’t say enough times that I wish them all the best but that seems to get lost somewhere. :)

PJ:I don’t think it’s a bad thing to be compared to Bo, BTW. Just sayin.

Oh my NO! Did you see that Bo opened his home for the flood victims in Nashville and is playing a charity benefit? I take it as a compliment to compare Casey/Bo. :)

I agree with you that Crystal is not unique and there are many in coffee houses like her. And I agree with your analysis pretty much with respect to the lack of enthusiasm this year. :)

I said that the other day. Lee often looks like a deer caught in the headlights to me. Casey doesn’t seem self confident enough to step out of the comfort box and let loose as I personally know he can, and for all her seemingly swagger, Crystal doesn’t exude confidence and the desire to win. I said earlier it may all just come down to a case of nerves and who handles it the best. I don’t see confidence in any of these three as I have seen in prior Idols and I surely don’t see that edge in desire to win!
