I hope the open up the list a little bit because most of those duets on the official song list are boy-girl love songs.

I could see any pairing… Mike/Crystal, Casey/Crystal or Lee/Crystal. The guy duets will be more tricky… Casey and Lee singing Mrs. Robinson? It was easier with a rock theme last season.

I ain’t really thrilled about this but I’m not surprised.

I think as long as you don’t pair Big Mike with Casey (I think that would be a pairing of disastrous proportions) it might turn out good.

I could see any pairing… Mike/Crystal, Casey/Crystal or Lee/Crystal.

Yes, I think any of these pairings could make for great performances.

I want to see goat and hippo singing ‘all for love’ on stage together on tuesday. i’m not watching it otherwise.

I am hoping for a Casey and Crystal or Crystal and Mike duet, although I think Casey and Crystal is not very likely, because Mike and Lee would be weird..

I’d love to see Crystal and Casey paired up, but there’s no way in hell they’d allow it. It would make too many people ponder the possibility of a Crystal/Casey finale, which we all know by now TPTB do NOT want. Wa-wah.

I vote for Casey and Crystal. Their voices will be beautiful together.

I’m interested to hear a Mike & Lee duet. I wanted something different and unthink of, so if they can pull this off, I’ll be very impressed. However my got feeling tells me it’s gonna be, Mike-Crytal and Lee-Casey.

It’ll be Mike/Crystal. Lee/Casey. Crystal/Lee would be unfair, they’re the two frontrunners. God forbid we let them shine together. Mike/Lee might work, it’d be interesting for sure. Whoever is with Casey is gonna have to deal with his guitar, God knows we can’t see him without one again. Sheesh.

There are many more options for the Crystal/whoever pairing than the all male pairing. I think Crystal and Mike would kill on Summertime. I think Crystal and Casey doing a duet of I Will Always Love You like Dolly would be great.

Ugh…I hated duets. I felt so bad last year for Kris when they told him how horrible he was next to Danny. But I think Lee and Crystal might be good.

Maybe I think Crystal will benefit by comparison to everybody? Mike would benefit duetting with Casey. Lee, I think will benefit next to Casey as well. Neck and neck, Mike to Lee. Or everybody raises their game and it becomes a four-horse race. Definitely, maybe.

I’d love to see Lee & Crystal do Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls. I don’t know. Something tells me these two could really work well together. Last week proved that she has more versatility then I thought. I know Lee would kill this song.

BOOOOOO!!! I do not like the duets!! I’d rather hear them sing 2 songs. Solution: Duct tape Kara’s mouth shut and only let the other 3 judges speak…allowing the 2 solo songs for each. I’d like to see Casey/Crystal…but I doubt that will happen.

If it is Casey & Lee, they need to do ‘Hero’ by Nickelback, a-la cookie and archie.

Here is the deal. I’d love to see Lee do ‘In Your Eyes’ by Peter Gabriel all by his lonesome. How sweet it would be.

Now the wonder is if it will be judged and voted on. that would shake it up.

Mike and Crystal paring up would only benefit Lee and Casey, ’cause I don’t think that Mike would sound good with them. Crystal is super versatile and could work with all three of the guys.

Yet, as much as I love the Disney songs, everyone should stay far, far away from them. Except if Crystal and Mike did “Can You Feel The Love Tonight” with the full African choir. That could possibly be epic. Or “You’ll Be In My Heart”. Let’s just hammer home the “parents!” angle.

I cannot totally hate the idea of the duets, after all, Slow Ride was probably the highlight of S8 for me.

The problem is, these contestants sound terrible together even on pre-recorded group performances. That’s a bad sign.

I’d love to see Crystal / Lee duet. But, if they are the frontrunners, and they are really good, that could easily split the vote, and neither one makes it to the final. I think it will be Crystal / Mike and Casey / Lee…However, I remember an interview with Adam last year, and he said Allison and him picked each other, so TPTB did not decide who sang with who. That being said, Crystal /Lee have been together since Chicago tryouts and Hollywood week, so I can seem them being pretty psyched to perform together…..

Lee and Crystal should sing “Fairy Tale in New York” by the Pogues. It was used in the 2007 movie PS I Love You.

I would like to see Crystal and Casey do Footloose. I think it is unlikely they would be paired, but it would be interesting to say the least. Lee and BM would make for a unique pairing too and at this point, unique is needed to add some excitement.

I think Casey and Lee should to “I’m Allright”. They could have fun with it and both play guitar. It could be really cool!!

Are the duets judged? I am thinking that any combo of Crystal with the guys will be good. Did anyone hear her in the Sinatra medley’s? The medley’s were crap but her voice, tone and range were all there.

This is not a dis because I want him to try to push himself. I’m afraid that after last week, he’ll be too scared to do anything new. And that will be to bad.

I still don’t think that Big Mike should be top 4 just because I feel it is unfair since America already voted him out and then he gets to be this high.

Don’t the Idols get to choose their duet partner themselves? They did last year. If that’s the case I would expect Crystal and Mike to sing together.

I don’t think duets are very fair. Some voices will just naturally sound better together and some won’t. Witness Brooke White and her duet with ???? (forgot his name) on Idol this season. Brooke sounded great, but the duet was just meh.

I’m not fond of the duets either but I rather have them do a long song and a duet than 2 short songs each.

Since when? LOL, didn’t you hear, Lee is the new Crystal. Personally, I like the old one.

They all look so nice and cool the dressing code of this four is so nice and cool I am very happy about it.I hope it will succeed.

If Blues Brothers was on the list, Casey and Lee would be perfect and Casey would have to step out of his comfort zone and MOVE! I agree that Casey has to push himself and hopefully after the stiffness of last week, he will or has been working on that. I read an article from his local hometown that said he is very competitive and had been selected by a coach in high school to play tennis and he ended up beating the star tennis player. The star player commented he didn’t mind losing so much, but hated to lose to a newbie in pink tennis shoes. I want to see Casey become competitive and step out of his zone and go for it…unafraid. He has had great performances IMO but does need to work on stage presence.

I did note Crystal in the group numbers and she sounded fabulous. (And I thought Casey did a great job in the group numbers too.) IMO she is not the whole package either. I do not enjoy watching her but do like her music and voice for the most part. Lee is the same for me, good voice but not fun to watch. BM needs to go IMO. I would like to see Crystal and Casey in the finale.

Whoever sings with Chrystal has the advantage. I just think the duets work better with a boy/girl mix.

I’m thinking that Crystal and Lee will pair up, and Big Mike and Casey. No particular reason other than my first impression seeing they were doing duets again. Funny that we have 3 guys and a girl again this year.

I don’t like them doing duets for the competition. There is too much riding on it and when you have a ‘doesn’t play nice with others’ (ala Gokey last year) it can go south fast.

I can’t see any of these guys sounding good together. I may be totally surprised. Shame Andrew is gone because the bromace would have worked for this both musically and as an aww moment. Ditto with Crystal and either Katelyn or Lilly.

Count me in the hoping for Casey & Crystal camp. I think they would be great together, they’re both bluesy. I think Lee and Mike don’t pair well with anybody else.

I’m actually looking forward to the duets, maybe just because I loved Adam/Allison so much last year.

I hated the duets last year because it did not really let any of them shine. Hate the duets — let them sing two songs and show us who they are as individuals.

Posted this in the thread from late last Wednesday night about the song list…I really can’t see Mike singing with either of the guys. I just don’t think his voice would work with them. Plus if they’re picking partners themselves, I think Crystal and Mike have more of a bond with each other than with either of the others.

My song choices from the list from before, although I don’t really have that good of reasons, were “Summertime” for Crystal and Mike, and mainly for the lulz, “Beauty and the Beast” for Lee and Casey. But with the dreck on that list, who knows. If they got some decent other songs cleared that could change it up. How about “Son of a Preacher Man” for Crystal and Mike, if they could figure out a way to duet on it?

Why not try crystal be in duet one after the other to see which pair does good or who among the boys pairs the voice of crystal…? Duets is another category anyway..maybe enjoyable?

I honestly think Crystal could duet with any of them and be fantastic! But Mike with either of the guys will both sound and look odd, because he is a large man with a large voice.
