Although the videos taken when Crystal Bowersox dropped by the Waterfront Cafe in Chicago Thursday night (Sept. 2)  to watch her friend, Brian Walker perform are only partials, they’re still worth your attention.

Crystal duetted, beautifully on a tune with Walker (while holding son, Tony) and treated  the audience to a performance of original tunes,  “Mine All Mine” and “Farmers Daughter.”  Gorgeous!

Check out the vids, after the JUMP. Source: Hell0Goodfr13nd (If any more are uploaded, I’ll add them.)

I really loved the performances Crystal did on the show, and the songs she did on the tour as well – but this is the Crystal that I can’t wait to hear on her album. I’ll never forget the first time I found any of Crystal’s originals on YouTube – I must have played Farmer’s Daughter that night a dozen times, and I think I cried almost every time. She’s just got that “it” that so few performers have.

ETA – I’d really like to see Farmer’s Daughter be Crystal’s first single. Yeah, to make it “radio friendly” she’d have to change that one word to “I’m so” (you know what I mean). The song just builds in intensity – it still gets me to this day and I’ve heard it I don’t know how many times. You can just feel the passion and emotion in her singing. And this was on Sept. 2 – one day after the tour was over after concluding with 7 straight performances, and her voice sounds as good as ever…the grit, the passion and everything. I can’t wait to hear what she does for her album.

It has always puzzled me that a word or expression like “fuck” is a no no on American tv or radio. Same with boobs, but it´s ok to show people getting killed and slaughtered on tv. I think the US is the only western country this applies to. Anyway, go Crystal, but the song will sound strange and lose impact with out the eff word

I agree with you, mj. Crystal’s songs are gorgeous, her voice is gorgeous and she is gorgeous. Her cd should be great and I can hardly wait!

I absolutely love this girl. Her tremendous talent is obvious in these video snippets. Love, love her vocals on Mine All Mine, especially. This is the Crystal that the powers tried to stifle, trying to mold her into a another big belter. Her vocals always suffered in my opinion when she pushed too hard, losing that wonderful tone. I may be tempted to buy her CD if it’s in this vein. Very cool.

What separates Crystal from every other gorgeous voice out there?

I totally agree with this and I felt that way through the season honestly – it was apparent that she enjoys going subtle just as much or more than she likes just belting it out. Yes, I loved it when she lit up songs like Me and Bobby McGee and Black Velvet in the finale, but Up to the Mountain was much more the sort of singer that Crystal wants to be, I think. I think she’ll be much more successful with the sort of music that she’s doing on these sorts of performances than she would be if she just let them (TPTB/her label) mold her.

I can’t wait to hear Crystal and Casey’s records when they come out!!!!

I also love the “eternal flame” that’s flickering right behind Crystal in the Farmers Daughter and Mine All Mine clips. :) It was touching how she gave tribute to her late friend, Mark Brink, before she started Mine All Mine.

This is the first opportunity I’ve had to hear some of Crystal’s original work. I will be in line to buy her album when it is available. The more I see and hear of this past season’s top 10, the more I realize there are some really good singers and performers among them.

Theres plenty of crystal originals on YouTube. Believe you me, its 1000 times better than any song she covered on AI/tour.

I really like the melody in Mine All Mine and I like Crystal best when she is signing these kind of songs.

    Thanks MJ for these videos.

  • Dlynne

This is the Crystal that I love. She looks beautiful, too.

I meant to post this yesterday, but I loved these videos. **swoons**
