Congratulations to Cat Deeley and Tom Bergeron! They tied in the Best Reality Show Host category, last night in Los Angeles at the 2nd Annual Critics Choice Television Awards, hosted by the Broadcast Television Journalists Association!  Two very worthy winners, if you ask me.  American Idol’s Ryan Seacrest was not nominated in this category.

Wow!” Cat exclaimed at the podium. “I came here seven years ago, I think, and it was just an adventure… and I’m very, very lucky to do a show that I absolutely love. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think…. So thank you very much!”

The Voice won Best Competitve Reality Series, beating out So You Think You Can Dance  AND The Amazing Race! The critics are as sick of their year in and year out Emmy wins as we are. Still, though. The Voice? Really? Continuing the snub, American Idol was passed over in this category, as was The X Factor. Sorry FOX!

Glee star Chris Colfer and New Girl’s Zooey Deschanel presented the Best Actor in a Miniseries award to Sherlock’s star Benedict Cumberbatch wrapped in tablecloths. It turned out that Zooey was nervous that the critics would mock her dress. Chris covered up in solidarity, apparently!  See the photos at the Montreal Gazette

Deadline speculates, that with the Critics Choice Awards coming smack dab in the middle of Emmy nomination voting, it could have an impact on the race. There was an ” impressive turnout of nominees, winners and presenters” all looking to make an impression at a crucial time in the Emmy process.  For instance, could the NBC comedy, Community, which one Best Comedy Series, be nominated for its first ever Emmy this year?

Congratulations to The Voice! It’s a good show!

Don’t care about The Voice since I think it’s more gimmick than anything else, but thrilled that Cat Deeley and Tom Bergeron got recognized.  With no disrespect to Ryan who wasn’t nominated, I think they are two of the best in the business at live television and neither IMO get enough credit for what a great job they do.  I don’t think many people realize how hard doing live television actually is and these two do it with such charm and ease.

The Voice. I kinda love that it won.

The best thing about the whole thing is that Damon Wayans Jr. and Casey Wilson got nominated. Finally!! Happy Endings getting some recognition!

Homeland definitely deserves the award for best drama series and best actress, although the competition was pretty formidable this year (is it just me, or are the non-reality TV shows improving?). I’m also psyched about Parks and Recreation getting some awards….they don’t have the highest ratings so it’s great that they still get recognized. Congrats to Cat Deeley and The Voice!

Oh great news about Tom Bergeron & Cat Deeley winning; I think they’re both awesome and very deserving.

Boo for Downton Abbey getting shut out, but then S2 wasn’t quite as good as S1.

Yeah….too bad about Downton Abbey. It looks like quite a few good shows, ended up with no awards (e.g. Game of Thrones and Good wife). I’m glad they at least nominated Michelle Dockery, who is really terrific in her role. I’d love to see her get a major award, but I’m not surprised that Claire Danes won in that category.

I am in shock that Steve Jones did not win for his stellar hosting job on X-Factor US last year :lol .

    Congrats to The Voice.

  • sdmama

Wow! I know this is not a right forum, but please let me do a little dance for Sherlock-Benedict Cumberbatch win. Thanks for posting the whole list so that I can catch that. I watched the first season like 12 times on Netflix. Fantastic BBC show, and I felt frustratingly unknown in US. I guess I was wrong. Horray!

  • hcpoirot

How on earth The Voice win with the dreadful battle round? And the mediocre of the majority of the talents?

Finally cat win for her hosting skill. Tom bergeron is one of the best host out there.

I find it hard to believe American Idol didn’t receive any nominations.  I agree it is tiring to see Amazing Race winning year after year.   Tom Bergeron and Cat Deeley winning was fantastic, though.   Cat is very deserving and not acknowledged previously.

Thank you MJ, for posting the entire list!
