Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes attended a performance of Rock Of Ages at the Pantages Theater in Los Angeles Saturday night. Heh.

Cruise is in final negotiations to star in a movie adaption of the Broadway musical. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Tom will play Stacee Jaxx, “the arrogant and charming star at the top of his career”.

Rock Star: INXS contestant, MiG Ayesa, Plays Stacee on stage.

So You Think You Can Dance Judge, Adam Shankman, is directing the film.

Eww, I really don’t want to see Tom Cruise in this role. Yuck

  • Miss Blue

Oh cmon. Tom Cruise? Really? I’ve got nothing against the guy, but if this isn’t some whack casting I’m not sure there is such a thing.

Wtf. The guy doesn’t sing, so automatically we get a non-rock star. Secondly, isn’t he a tad old for this? And thirdly, a rock star? Tom Cruise? Yeah, that’s going to take Oscar caliber make-up.

Blech. Dirty up Adam Lambert – I think he could nail the acting and singing just fine.

Ewww. To this day, I can’t look at Constantine without feeling the need to take a hot shower.

  • Mel1

Tom Cruise looks ugly. Cruise playing in a musical? Happens when you have as much money as he does.

  • SybilTrelawney

Ewww. To this day, I can’t look at Constantine without feeling the need to take a hot shower.

Ditto. And I loathe Tom Cruise, so the two of them together makes me want to take some antibiotics after the hot shower.

  • wjmtv

This is the finest example of karma that I’ve seen in a loooong time.

  • Miss Chaos

One is short, the other is Smarmy. Why cant the smarmy one be in the movie, he does deserve it.

  • iluvai

I never thought I’d see those two in a picture together. Isn’t Tom Cruise a bit old for this role. Just yuck!

  • Truthiness

Cruise and Constantine? It’s douchetastic! It’s like the Doubledouche twins! It’s like double your douce, double your ick!

    feh.

And agree on the terrible casting. Tom Cruise can’t sing, is too old, so what’s cast him? Lame.

  • Suzanne

Tom Cruise can’t sing? Has he sung badly in something?

I don’t know the show. Would Tom Cruise play the part that Constantine played?

  • LK10

I actually like Cruise. Can’t stand Constantine. Not familiar with this at all, so I am not sure what role Tom was cast for.

You’ve got your tool spectrum right there. Asswipes come in all tax brackets.

At first I thought that pic was for a sequel to “Rain Man”

    ha ha way too funny!

At first I thought that pic was for a sequel to “Rain Man”

ha ha, another funny! Thanks you two! :)

Well, Tom Cruise is taller than I thought. He must be at least 5.5 or near about. I always thought he was under 5.2.

About Cruise playing an aging rock star. I don’t like him for the part, but he is old. I liked this show, hope the movie doesn’t mess it up to bad.

  • Tess

Another movie I won’t see. And Cruise is aging rather badly. Did he sing in Top Gun or was that a voice double? Oh, and if you ever watch Top Gun it is funny to see that Kelly McGillis and Tom are never standing next to each other where you see full body shots…she is always leaning on a wall, or he is sitting she is standing, etc. It’s too funny to watch the movie picking out all the ways they tried to make it appear that he was taller.

As far as I know, Cruise will play the part that Mig Ayesa is now playing, NOT the Constantine role of “Drew.”

I have heard Gwyneth Paltrow, Taylor Swift and others mentioned to also be in the movie. Nothing at this point about anyone to play Drew. It would be nice and kind of fair to give the role of Drew to Constantine since he was nominated for a Tony for creating the role.

This would be another screw-up for Idol (similar to the passover of Jennifer Hudson on Idol, only to see her become an Oscar winner and a big star)

Good Luck to Constantine. Always thought he got a knife in the back on Idol, coming in behind the less than talented Scott Savol who is nowhere and got dumped the week after Constantine was *supposedly* voted off. Carrie won that year and became a huge star. Constantine has overcome his sixth place finish and has a pretty nice career going for him.

The movie role of Drew in a show that Constantine helped make a big hit would be a nice reward for him. Idol could claim immediate credit, lol, and paste his picture up on their wall, too!!!!!

Cruise was hilarious in that Vietnam/movie biz flick with Ben stiller. Absolutely unrecognizable. I don’t know this show at all, but he’s better when he plays against type, IMO.

  • abrahammy

Tom Cruise is going to be in the movie? It’s a musical. This strikes me as being… really, really, really bad casting. At one point I was considering seeing the movie, but now I am not so sure.

  • wyked_whyspers

Lots of people said similar things when Tom Cruise did Interview with a Vampire and Born on the Fourth of July, yet both were amazing films and he was spectacular. I’m the first to admit he’s a bit of a whack job with funny ideas about life, but as an actor, still one of the finest to grace the silver screen since Risky Business. Highly gifted people often come with eccentricities, some amusing, some just darn strange, but it makes for some highly interesting people. So unless he starts sacrificing puppies or kittens to the aliens he believes will come and take over the world during the apocalypse, I will go see his movies.

As for Constantine, I didn’t watch but a couple episodes of his season and I just don’t get the discust. He’s worked very hard to get where he is and deserves credit for it. If that makes me a bit skeezy myself, so be it. Good luck to them both.

  • LoveDaRocker

Tom: This is a Scientology energy symbol. Can you feel the energy?
Constantine: No, but I’ll poke your eye out if you don’t take your other hand off my junk.

  • JazzRocks

Unfortunately many performers who originate roles on Broadway are ignored when it comes time to make the movie. Hollywood “stars” are cast instead. Not fair but it happens all the time. Constantine should get the role if his acting is acceptable. He has done a little acting on TV soap operas so he has a bit of experience other than the stage.

The main pic reminds me of the episode of South Park where the boys had to vote between a giant douche and a turd sandwich.

Tom Cruise in Rock of Ages? Consider it skipped.
