I could be missing a concert date, but it appears most of our reality stars are taking a little break from touring! Only The Voice Tour is performing tonight. If I missed something, I’ll add it.

Here’s your thread for everything concert related!

June 30 2014 Concert Schedule

The Voice Tour – The Ovens – Charlotte, NC

  • Amy Beth

Tonight’s Bring Back is Cody Belew (Team CeeLo, S3).

  • Incipit

It does look like it’s Break Day for a lot of the artists – that will give me a chance to go back through the posts and see what I may have missed. Also, DC had 5 shows in 6 days so far; it’s been a game of catching-up over night as pictures and such continue to get posted from Europe on their time…

Has anyone got videos or recaps of Bo and Three Dog Night?

  • weareallinnocent

I thought Bo was with Blood, Sweat & Tears?

  • Mel432

Yes he is. I still can’t get over his short do. I loved that beautiful long hair of his.

  • Incipit

Aww, You’re right – my mistake. It was Blood, Sweat and Tears.

Still haven’t seen any videos from them…I’m sure he sounds great, though.

  • Trina

Yep he does! This is a clip of Vehicle I’ve had saved and he sounds just as great as he did when he sang this back on AI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPz1I5kwRiE

ETA: Colton Dixon & Casey James performed at this event last year.

  • Incipit

Hey, that’s great news, tripp_ncwy – because it may mean that August gigs will start showing up at Fleming’s site, and also that some more of the Western half of the country will get some shows!

  • Mel432

Nice pic of Cook. Cross between handsome and cute. What’s that tat written on his forearm

  • wordnerdarchie

That’s part of a poem called “The Dash” by Linda Ellis. It was read at his brother’s funeral.

ETA: You can read the poem here:

  • Incipit

It’s the last verse, Mel432. Here’s the whole poem:

    The Dash – Linda Ellis

  • H.A.

Bo still sounds awesome. I miss the long hair though. I’m waiting for some Cook videos to show up. I haven’t seen any yet. Maybe I missed it.

  • Incipit

Oh yes – there are a whole slew of them from the Concert in Belgium, and one or two from the others. I’ll check the post for a playlist.

  • H.A.

    Please do. I’ve been waiting.

  • wordnerdarchie

We had the same idea. We know our Cook trivia, lol.

  • Genna Baker

This is the youtube playlist for the Belgium concert: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL2gOBcv4swUvvmZRixerZhpZjYpNRaPCF

  • H.A.

Thank you. I’m going to watch it on my big screen TV now. Keep them coming.

  • Genna Baker

You’re welcome. I think that list has the entire Belgium show except the first song, Paper Heart. Cook’s banter about a little boy in the audience at the beginning of The Last Goodbye is really cute. Hope you enjoy.

  • Incipit

Thanks, Genna. I have the mp3 for “Wicked Game” from Germany – do you have the video? This is the one with the long, soaring, 10 second sustained note.

  • Genna Baker

Yes, Incipit. The video is in that playlist I linked. That’s such a beautiful, higher sustained note he’s doing now, isn’t it?

  • Genna Baker

Sorry, I misspoke. It’s not the entire show. Cook performed 17 songs, but there are only 11 videos. Still, I think that’s more than I expected to be able to get from this Armed Forces Tour.

  • Sue tiedemann

He sounds fantastic! I also love the long hair but he still looks good with the short hair.

  • Incipit

Yes, it’s gorgeous. I hope that’s the version that goes on the album, if David still means to put “Wicked Game” on the album.

  • Bunny391848

Do you know who Wednesday’s Bring Back performer is?

  • macfae

I went to The Voice tour show last night in Atlanta. It was a fun show, nicely paced and they all looked terrific..nicely styled and did wardrobe changes. We had 9th row center seats so a really good view and the sound at the Cobb Energy Centre was great. As often is the case with idol, the performers were even better than on the show..looser, more engaging and comfortable with the audience. And the crowd was very enthusiastic and nearly a full house.
    Couple of especially enjoyable things:
While the girls were singing Swift’s “Never Ever” song, the guys ran out into the audience, shaking hands, giving hugs and taking pics with fans. I thought that was a cool thing to do.
I was pleased to hear Tessanne, and Jacquie Lee sing their new singles. Dia sang an original, also, she was A-dorable; Tessanne is stunning, by the way; Jacquie wailed without hurting my ears once.
Christine did make me wince a couple of times but she was still very good and she had a lot of fans in the house.
The bring back performers last night were Austin Jenckes (Season 5 ) and Vedo ( Season 4 ). Austin did one song and disappeared for the rest of the show but Vedo sang and then continued as part of the next group number. Vedo was more entertaining than I remembered.
I particularly wanted to see Josh Kaufman and he did not disappoint. He and Tessanne singing “Stay” was probably the “moment” of the show for me.
Kristen was excellent. She was all over the stage and in the audience ..she gave it her all. I was impressed. She and Jake Worthington singing “Done” together was fun.
I would recommend the show to anyone. I definitely got my monies worth. My friend doesn’t watch The Voice as much as I and she had other favorites than mine but she enjoyed the entire show too and was impressed with how talented they all were.
    That’s it.

  • jennyl2

Thank you so much for sharing! I loved reading your thoughts. especially since I can’t go and that’s the only way I can ‘enjoy’ the concert. :) I’m so glad you had a great time and the show was fantastic!

  • fuzzywuzzy

Was there a live band or were they singing to recorded tracks?

  • Amy Beth

I haven’t seen anything. Someone from PA maybe? Matthew Schuler, James Wolpert or Christian Porter would all be great. I’ll update if I find out.

  • SaSa8

Thanks for the trivia. I knew about David’s brother but had not seen the tatoo. That’s pretty cool. I love The Dash poem. Also about The Dash, Scotty has a song called The Dash on his CD that is written by Kyle Jacobs who is Kellie Picklers husband. “It ain’t about the numbers chiseled in concrete, it’s how you live your life in the dash between”.

  • wordnerdarchie

I don’t know who came up originally w/the concept of the Dash, but I do know that Linda Ellis’s poem predates that song.

  • DCAIfanHelsinki

This is so strange to watch. I’ve been a BS&T fan since 1969, when I was 12 years old. I saw the actual band live in 1974 and 1978. The cover band, as I call it, I saw once in 1990. The cover band has been to Finland 1-2 times, but I haven’t wanted to see them. It is really strange to see a band that uses the name – and obviously still plays the old hits – in which there is not one person left from the good old times. And the tune is not a BS&T tune even. Bo Bice sounds good, though. I heard he sang Spinning Wheel on American Idol – well, now he really gets to sing it.

  • DCAIfanHelsinki

I don’t hear his voice in these videos, I hear instruments and even his talk, but I can’t hear him sing. Does anyone else have this problem with these?
However, I can barely bear to watch them. I was seriously planning to go to Belgium to this concert with two Finnish women (one of them has filmed these), but then it just didn’t work out for me, for various reasons. I am still truly depressed about it, so disappointed. It would have been my first DC concert ever… There was a meet & greet also. I did meet him last year at RFH, but he didn’t have a concert then.
Does he perform 17 songs usually at his concerts?
I hope I could come to the US later this year to get to one of his concerts, but they often sell out quickly, or at least the tickets with a meet & greet. Also, I can’t take time off work whenever I’d want to.

  • wordnerdarchie

First of all, I’m so sorry it didn’t work out for you this time. It must have been very frustrating for you.

Secondly, his voice is rather muted once all of the band comes in, but I can hear him when I use my earbuds rather than my laptop speakers.

Thirdly, this issue with recording not picking up his voice once the song starts happens most often when the person taking the video is so close to the stage. The instrumentation is too loud for the recording device while at the same time the vocals are being amplified & the speakers are throwing his voice out over & behind the first few rows. If a person wants really good audio, they need to be further back in the venue, but then the person loses the real life experience of being up front. It’s sortt of a Catch-22. Being in an outdoors venue might just make that situation even more difficult. A person that was standing up front next to the person taking this video said she was so close that she was hearing his unamplified voice, but not his amplified one. I hope that explains the problem.

However, here’s an example of really good audio (indoor venue) where the person taking it was further away. I really like this song, too. It has the original intro, which has since been revised a bit. (Kiss & Tell)

  • DCAIfanHelsinki

Thank you for your empathy! I appreciate it!
Thank you for this video! That’s the best audio I’ve heard in any videos from his concerts! Often I don’t feel like watching them because I can’t hear him and the band well enough and I hear people talking and singing along etc.

  • jennyl2

There is a live band. Someone from Atlanta posted all of Josh’s performances on youtube. Only recording was Usher singing. There have been lovely full vids of Stay. Can’t post link as I am on mobile.

  • Bunny391848

Thanks.. Matthew, James, or Christian haven’t tweeted anything yet…I’ve seen Matthew twice in concert and met him once . He’s incredible live and he’s sooo nice!

  • DCAIfanHelsinki

Also, thank you for explaining that problem with recording. I must watch those videos with headphones, maybe it helps.

  • SaSa8

Oh yes I’m sure the poem is the original. I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to imply otherwise. I was just trying to say that poem has a great message and add another interesting connection the poem and message of The Dash has to two other Idols.

  • wordnerdarchie

When you mentioned it, I wondered if there was any problem with Kellie Pickler’s husband using that phrase in a song.

  • macfae

Yes, there was a live 4 piece band. They did a good job too. I didn’t notice any missteps in their accompanying the performers.

  • Susan

Ah, this might explain why I got such good audio at Queen compared to any other video I have watched. I was around 2/3 of the way back in the arena, though only 6 rows up.
