CMA Music Festival – Nashville TN – Photos

Is it just me or is Carrie starting to look like a bobble head?? She is a beautiful girl but DAYUM….eat a cheeseburger or 12…please!!!

It seems like the American Idol alumni are taking over Nashville. Even Jessica Simpson has “gone country”. Kellie, Carrie, Phil S., Bucky, Haley S., Chris Sligh, Bo Bice, and I’m sure others that I don’t know about, have moved to Nashville.
Melinda Dolittle and Mandisa lived there before Idol, and I guess they still do. The CMA Music Festival is really a time for all of them to come home and be with their fans.

dfc, Diana DeGarmo is another. She was on the CMT show “Gone Country” (and robbed of her rightful win, IMO), but now she’s supposedly recording a country album, I think with the help of John Rich, the creator of that show.

Sarah, that’s right. I knew I was forgetting some others. I also thought Diana should have won “Gone Country”. She has an amazing voice and John Rich obviously thinks so, too.

If my memory serves me correctly I think Scott Savol is residing in the Nashville area also.

Meme, I remember hearing that. The only other one that I remember that hasn’t been mentioned is Jessica Sierra. She got in trouble with the law, but I don’t know if she still lives in Nashville or not. Just saw where Corey Clark and Josh Gracin live there, too. Now I can’t stop thinking about who else from Idol moved to Nashville.

If you’re from the South and/or going into country, it makes sense to move to Nashville.

Didn’t Haley move back to Texas, though? IIRC, she was being stalked or something and decided to move home.

I think Taylor said his next album,would be countryfied and had been working in Nashville.

Why don’t they just move AI all the way to Nashville. IMO country is being overrun with Idol alums who just can’t make it in any other genre. Country is safe.

I’m about the same size as Carrie and I eat lots of cheeseburgers and I’ve also heard the ‘eat a cheeseburger’ thing. Kinda insulting.

Well, Carrie is a veg, so she won’t be eating any cheeseburgers!

There are people out there who eat plenty and are thin anyway. From what I’ve read in some of Carrie’s interviews, she’s not one of those people. She’s pretty vigilant, to the point of being obsessive, about what she eats.

That’s the way of showbiz, though. Have even an ounce of fat on your body, and you’re are labeled “fat”. Carrie talks about that very thing. Her healthy, cornfed looks on Idol were ridiculed as “fat” so she want on a diet and shed some pounds.

Having said that, I hope Carrie doesn’t lose any more weight. She looks ok, but if she gained 5 pounds, it wouldn’t hurt.

They were playing music over the loudspeakers at my son’s high school graduation ceremony today. Nice song comes on… something sappy… starting to sound familiar… hey wait… did I vote for that song in the AI songwriters contest?… It would be perfect for that… “Do I make you proud”… Ohhhhhh… that’s Taylor’s song!… Is that Taylor?… Hmmm… can’t tell… wait… sounds like Taylor… yup, I guess it is.

It was PERFECT for a high school graduation song.

Was AI2 alum Josh Gracin at this CMA Festival too? He is also based out of Nashville with a recent CD on the same label as Phil Stacey so it would make sense if he was there as well.

That’s a nice photo of Pickler from the event and Stacy and Covington also photographed well. Carrie is always pretty but she seems so thin. Carrie, please have a cookie or something.

ETA According to this link he was on the performing roster plus I found a May press release listing him as a performer at this festival. Hopefully a photo of him there will also surface.

I think Carrie is starting to look anorexic. Yep, alot of AI alumni are making it in Nashville. Good thing too, because most of them wouldn’t have a prayer in pop.

Any pictures from the Clark Brother’s performance at the CMA Fan Fair? Love to hear anything about them.

Carrie was a size 6 during Idol. She’s now a size 2. Her sisters aren’t super-skinny, so she might be one of those people who has to really watch it to stay thin.

I don’t think Carrie looks abnormal for someone in her position (ie, a singer who is in front of the camera). I DO do think her interviews suggest an obsessive attitude towards food that sends a potentially bad message to young girls.

I don’t think a size 2 is normal. I remember when Kelly Clarkson was being hounded by the media about her size and weight. She refused to go thin to be in. It was either accept her as she is, or not at all.

She does seem obsessed with counting calories and weight. I too, think this sends the wrong message to young girls.

People seem to think that the country music scene and Nashville in general remains very open to Idol contestants but looking at sales over the past year, it seems that the trend has hit a wall. Successful albums from Kellie and Bucky were all released over a year ago. Except for Carrie, every country Idol album released in the past year has sold less than a tenth of their previous album or had lackluster initial sales. Bo: 54K; Josh: 43K; Phil: 24K; Carmen: 3K. The reasons are varied and it doesn’t matter as long as the performers and their fans are happy of course. Just saying that “going country” isn’t a quick and easy substitute for good songs and steady promotion.

Look at Carrie’s face — is it sunken? Nope.

Look at her legs — do you see bones? Nope.

Is she concerned about her weight? In her industry, she has to be but, is she anorexic — as of today, I just don’t think so.

Is she sending the wrong message to girls? Maybe but not because she’s too thin.

I don’t think Carrie looks bad at all, but I do get worried when I read some of the interviews she puts out on the subject. She sounds absolutely obsessed with her weight and what she eats. She talks about keeping a food journal down to minute detail and the hours and hours she spends working out when she can. So although I think she looks healthy, her behavior doesn’t sound very healthy to me. She has so many young fans that hang on her every word, I do worry what they take away from those types of statements from her.

If you contrast that with the way Kellie talks about her weight, there really is a marked difference. She has also obviously lost weight but her approach comes across as a much more healthy one. Even the message put out about her cosmetic enhancement was a positive one in that she made it clear that it was something she did just for herself – not because she felt anyone else was demanding it from her. Just a very different approach to the whole topic and one that I think is much healthier.

Orange must be in – both girls look great in that color!

Lizzy, I too am looking for any news about the Clark Brothers. I haven’t heard a thing about their concert and how they did! I really wanted to drive to Nashville but it is almost 9 hours away – gas would have been too expensive.

^ i think people take the whole “food diary” thing and make it sound bad, its actually a medically sound way to watch your weight…obviously things like that can be taken to an extreme, but ask any nutritionist and they will tell you its a proven method

gabygal, I understand that. However, the way Carrie talks about it, her record keeping sounds obsessive and compulsive. I worry about the message she sends to impressionable, younger fans.
