Clay Aiken made a sassy crack about the Republican National convention participants last night that raised the ire of country singer John Rich. Celebrity Apprentice fans will remember that former winner, Rich, interviewed Clay (who competed on the show earlier this year and came in second) before Trump decided who would move on to the final. The two follow each other.
“Playing drinking game with my brother now. We drink every time we see a black person on screen at the RNC convention #soberasamormon,” Clay tweeted last night.
“We drink every time we see a black person at the RNC//CLAY! You should be ashamed for racist comments like THAT!WOW,” Rich tweeted back.
“I wonder how long it will be till @clayaiken takes that idiotic post down,” Rich continued. “Clay, you’re better than that…I hope. Sincerely, JR.”
And: @clayaiken Feel free to clear up what you said. It hit me really wrong. If you didn’t mean it, please, speak up.
Clay Aiken responded ?@johnrich I think that a party that is hoping to represent and lead a country as diverse as America is should not be homogenous as the GOP
Then: “And to finish it off, @clayaiken hashtags soberasamormon? I thought your charity was for inclusion, not EXCLUSION. What happened?.
My charity is. Why isn’t your party? ;-) @johnrich,” Clay responded.
For the record, Clay did not delete his tweet, even after he was bombarded with critical tweets like this:
“I’m drinking every time I see a white-as-paste celeb infer racism. #DrunkAsASkunk!” and, from TXN-1st, “@clayaiken raaaaaacist southern white guy #negrospotting.” from Chris Barnhart
Rich respnded, “Between the hashtag ‘negrospotting’ and what I’ve read ever since, I’ve just had enough of this racist nonsense. It’s sick. PLS STOP.”
Clay’s remarks were snarky and a little politically incorrect. But racist? Please. That’s just John Rich trying to shut Clay down.
