Um he definitely looks older than 12. And wat does any of that facial hair and all have to do with the cd? All ya had to say was not my cup of tea so I won’t be buying that is it. I’ve seen nothing but nice comments till urs. Even non fans, while still not buying it, are talking about how good it is. Why must you sour the talk?

not really a scotty fan to be honest with you but his deep voice goes really well with christmas music.

  • kcostell

The one album of Christmas music I own is by James Taylor, another case of “deep voice works well for this sort of thing”.

I love all the songs on this album…no surprise since I am a total Scotty McCreery fan and a lover of country music.  However, I do not hear one touch of country lyrics or country twang in “Let It Snow”. I do think “Christmas in Heaven” is a beautiful gem of a song that may well become a holiday classic. “Santa Claus Is Back in Town” reminds me of good old rock n roll and I love it!

I loved all of the snippets…especially liked the fact that his voice needs no embellishments.  There were no backup singers required, no overdone musical backing…just his great voice.  I’m puzzled as to the CD being “too country”.  (Of course, it can never be too country for me.)  I thought the arrangements (vocal and instrumental) were middle of the road country, with a touch of jazz influence. I’ve already order multiple copies, and will donate a few to Fans of Scotty, etc.

Um..how is that comment even relevent to the music?

  • beck1982

That was exactly my point lol. I dunno why people insist on putting him down for no reason. It baffles me lol.

  • jjrr1942

I think some do because they still haven’t forgiven him for winning AI instead of their favorite, others because they don’t like country music, and others for no apparent reason at all (after all, it’s easier to put him down with a few nasty words than to provide a real critique).

I love that album too, but I wouldn’t regard James as having a particularly “deep voice”, at least not the kind of bass that Scotty has.

It’s hard to know what the future holds for any Idols, but I respect that Scotty knew who he was as an artist on the show and has continued along this path in his post-Idol music. As a result, I think that his fans haven’t experienced the disconnect that has been an issue for some other Idols when their post-Idol music was too much of a departure from what/how they sang on the show. So far, I think that his career has been managed very well and he seems to keep everything in his life in perspective. Pretty impressive for a kid his age (no disrespect meant, just a comment from someone waaaaay older ;) ).
