Season 6 Idol, Chris Sligh, announced on twitter that his second post-Idol album,  “The Anatomy of Broken” will be out on Warner Bros Christian imprint, Word records, on September 14.

The first single, “Only You Can Save” will go to radio on July 17.

Chris describes the album, a 14-song set as “almost a concept record”:

“The concept is We’re all broken people. Doesn’t matter what walk of life we’re in, what religion, what our income is, what we do with our life we’re all broken. But brokenness is a beautiful, beautiful thing because it is mirrored by redemption. Unless we are broken, we have no need for redemption; no need to be loved; and in return no need to love. But too often we hide the brokenness and try to paint a pretty picture on the outside. This only breeds hypocrisy and the opposition of love.  So I wrote a record about it…LOL.”

And in other news–Chris and his wife Sarah are expecting a baby girl they are naming Keira Lennon Sligh–due on October 18. Congratulations!

Empty Me was one of the best songs, Christian or not, that I had heard in a long time. As long as Chris brings that kind of A game, he will have a hit on his hands. I wish him the best of luck. And BTW, I hated him by the time he got the boot on idol, but love his music since.

His music may be good, I don’t know since I haven’t been able to get past his arrogant, entitled, personality to listen. JMO.

Chris’ description of that song sounds so negative to me. That’s all I got.

Chris Sligh is a talented songwriter and singer. I feel bad that his bone dry sense of humor leads to some thinking he is not a nice person. He is a beautiful person. I am not one who likes so-called “Christian” music as it is often too preachy and in your face. Chris writes songs that have meaning without the “the powerful, the glorious, the wonderful, praise, praise, bow” stuff in them.

Oh, not negative at all, because the blessing is, we don’t have to stay broken…”Only You Can Save” says it all. Chris posted snippets of his songs on twitter awhile back, and here’s the link for this one, though this is a demo and good, the finished version is unbelievably well done: http://twaud.io/68S

Chris’ sense of humor is often misunderstood; personally I think he’s one of the most hilariously honest and transparent people I know, and I love seeing that come out in his writing and music. I’m really looking forward to seeing how this record comes together; he’s put a lot of time and heart into it.

And congrats to the Mommy & Daddy to be!

I can’t wait for this record to be released. Chris is an amazing songwriter and has a way to touch deep down in your soul with his music. His words and his voice on this record will be nothing short of amazing. And yes sometimes his sense of humor is misunderstood, he is such an honest, sensitive person and all of this shows in the words to his songs. This album will no doubt show this.

Hmm..Congratulations about the baby(the only nice thing I can think of to say)

Chris has been working very hard on this album, and from what I’ve heard on it, the energy expended has paid off. I have heard at least half of the new songs either in concert or in the past on Myspace and must say that this will be a strong, well crafted album. Congratulations are in order for both the upcoming birth of this new CD and of course, his baby girl.

Chris has a snarky streak about a country mile wide. Sometimes it crosses the line over into mean territory, but usually he admits it (even though it’s after the fact). I still like him, and he is talented. He also cracks me up. Congrats on the baby, too!

Lots of folks were up in arms over the open letter he posted, where he gave unsolicited advice to the people coming off Idol. It may have hit some as arrogant, but he was mostly right.

Thrilled for Chris and Sarah! Blessings on them and the baby.

It’s too bad people can’t get past Sligh’s wicked sense of humor because his music is pretty stellar…he’s got the pipes and has a way with lyrics. Personally I think he’s pretty funny. Can’t wait for his new stuff to come out-it’s on my to-buy list. Congrats to Chris & Sarah on the new kiddo!

I’m happy for Chris that so many people like the guy. Everything I’ve ever seen or read from him post idol seems douchy. Usually for me it’s all about the music. But with some people personality is hard to ignore.

That is great news about the baby girl! and I see that Sligh has signed with a new company – WORD – I am a country music girl all the way (big Carrie fan) but I listened to the song someone posted above, and I have to admit Sligh has the voice and energy that I love about Carrie. I wish him all the best.
