Chris Daughtry Vlogs: New Record Set to Be Released June or July – VIDEO

Major update on the new Daughtry record from Chris Daughtry in his latest vlog. Plus, Chris knows the cute lingo (sesh?) and lots of famous people!

Here are the deets on the next record:

  • Chris finished vocals on the record last week
  • They recorded 19 songs – 12 will probably make the record–they’ve just entered the mixing phase
  • He’s hoping for a June or July release
  • There’s No album title yet
  • Last minute writing sessions included Chad Kroeger (Nickelback) and Richard Marx
  • He mentions writing sessions with Jason Wade from Lifehouse– “Long Way” for the new album–and also for the next Lifehouse album.
  • Chris also wrote with Pat Monahan for the next Train record

    Richard Marx??! He was my first concert when I was in elementary school!! I so hope the song they did together makes the record, I’m dying to hear it already!

    Can’t wait to hear the songs especially the studio version of “Long Way”. I just heard the acoustic version recently and it was really, really good. I bet that one will be a single.

    I’m not sure if it’s first single material (not upbeat enough IMO) but the hook is amazing and Chris was babbling about it a lot so I think it has a good shot of being a single (2nd maybe?).

    I have to say that Chris just keeps getting better and better. Some idols seem to reach their plateau on AI. He has gotten even better. I bet this album is a hit.

    Thanks MJ! I’m so happy to hear it’s going to be a summer release, there were mentions of Fall and even late 2009 so this is a big relief seeing as I want new music now!! I also can’t wait to hear the studio version of Long Way, it’s an amazing song….the vids don’t do it justice.

    Hope it’s okay to post this seeing as it’s related in a round about way…if not, I apologize…..Joey Barnes, drummer for Daughtry released a 5 song EP today. He has an AMAZING voice, his songs are very very different from anything Daughtry and he’s one of my favorite people in the whole world lol. You can check it out HERE

    Heh that he’s struggling with the album title–yeah, you can’t call it Daughtry by Daughtry featuring Chris Daughtry this time. :smirk2_ee:

    How did I miss this yesterday? Loved hearing the news that the album will be out in a few months. The sophomore record is on-so-important to an artist’s longevity, and I hope he’s around for a long long time. Oh and thanks for posting the video of Long Way. I love how his voice sounds on that song. Go Chris!
