Actually, this happened last Wednesday. Alicia Keys held her 5th annual Black Ball for Keep A Child Alive featuring performances from Alicia, Chris Daughtry, Justin Timberlake and Adele. Also in attendance: John Mayer, David Bowie, Queen Latifa and Timbaland.

Video of Chris Daughtry and Alicia Keys performing a duet has surfaced, and Carson was kind enough to post it in Headlines this morning. I’m pulling it out in a separate post. Chris holds his own against the Divine Ms. Keys pretty well. I’ve also posted some photos. All after the jump.

Videos and photos after the JUMP…

Amazing. He does have a beautiful voice. His career just seems to get better and better (and he was, what, number 6 that year?).

Very nice! I’m not a big fan of Alicia Keys, but I think Chris did a great job on this duet and they sounded great together. :)

  • forlife

That just proved to me that Chris can sing about anything. They sounded amazing together. Very nice.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4n5d_IkqUA

Every day I spend my time
    Drinking wine, feeling fine
Waiting here to find the sign
    That I can understand
    Yes I am

In the days between the hours
    Ivory towers, bloody flowers
Push their heads into the air
    I don’t care if I ever know
    There I go

Don’t push your love too far
Your wounds won’t leave a scar
Right now is where you are
    In a broken dream

    Did someone bow their head
    Did someone break the bread
    Good people are in bed
    Before nine o’clock

On the pad before my eyes
    Paper cries, telling lies
    The promises you gave
From the grave of a broken heart

Every day I spend my time
    Drinking wine, feeling fine
Waiting here to find the sign
    That I can understand
    Yes I am
I sit here in my lonely room

Don’t push your love too far
    You know your wounds
    won’t even leave a scar
Right now is where you are
    In a broken dream
And don’t you forget what I say

J, Chris came in 4th on American Idol.

Wow, that’s great! Chris is in elite company, and holding his own. Awesome.

I always thought that he had a lot of fans who watched the show but they weren’t the kind to sit and vote for hours. They showed their support by buying his cds and boy they really did and still are.

To me, just making it to the top 10 is great, and from then on it’s up to you what you do with the opportunity. The media makes a big deal about him not winning, but again, it’s not the producers’ fault, it’s the fans who didn’t vote, but I thought he was lucky not to win, it gave him probably more freedom to make his cd his way, and less pressure. His talent was so strong he has been pretty much unstoppable.

They sounded really good together…I liked chris on the show and I still like him.

Very nice performance from both of them! I didn’t pay much attention to season 5, but I can see why Daughtry was so popular.

  • bean99

I’ve been a fan of his since season 5 so I’m not surprised he sounded so good in the duet but am happy he’s getting so many opportunities. It’s nice to hear him sing something different. Thanks for the pics and video, MJ.

I thoroughly enjoyed that. Great job from both of them.

What a great singing colloboration :) I always thought Chris has a great rock song – but i am really amazed that his soulful take as seen in this duet is even better. Even though it is sing live – Chris’s voice is so crisp and clear and smooth (like hearing from a CD) with such bluesy passion infused into it. I am on replay mode for this video countless time! Dare I say that in this duet – his singing almost outshine that of the diva Alicia (who is another of my fave singer).

Am so glad that Chris is really improving so much since AI days – he is so good both in CD and live…

Wow. That was great. Thanks! You go Chris.

I agree, I love Chris’ vocals live they sound so crisp and smooth, very clear. That’s the why the dude has such and amazing recording voice and very distinctive too. You hear him and you can say it is Daughtry.

Chris and Carrie Underwood sound fantastic both on a CD and live.

I am glad he paving his way up in his career. Hopefully his sophomore album will be a super success too.
