Cassadee Pope, in the midst of her The Voice victory lap, stopped by Live with Kelly and Michael in New York City this morning to perform “Over You”. The Miranda Lambert tune sailed to the top of the iTunes charts when it was initially released during the competition, no doubt helping to cement her win.

Also, check her interview on last night’s Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Cassadee says she grew up singing country music, and she wants to incorporate it into her music. Hm.

Don’t you think that having Blake and Miranda as mentors and moguls would help her? Plus, she would do the pop-bland-country Taylor-Swift thing that appeals outside de country community.

yep. I saw people saying if she didn’t win it would be because the “power of penis” and people were glad that she won just because she’s a woman. I was kinda speechless. This is feminism on a delirious scale. Plus, I don’t think either that a bad female singer winning a show is good for the image of women overall.

Blake and Miranda don’t have the power to make someone successful. The rest of the country community would probably laugh in their faces by them trying to make her country. She would make Taylor Swift look like Dolly Parton.

  • ptebwwong

Blake & Miranda can only do so much. For example, they both wrote a song for another country artist & actually tried promoting it. But it didn’t even make top 35 on the country charts. This was an artist that had previous big hits.

Blake & Miranda can be Cassadee’s mentors, but radio PD’s still need to play her. Radio recently plays very little talent show alums especially since there are so many shows now. Marketing & management is one of the keys to whether she can be a success. She also needs good songs.

Also, if she’s trying to go country it is a very hard time for female country artists currently. Basically, there is less than 7 female artists on the top 40 currently. Three of them are Taylor, Faith, & Carrie & one is from a tv show (Hayden from Nashville). All the rest aren’t big hits (top 30-40 on the charts). So if Cassadee is going country she’s already coming in with a disadvantage of being a female artist.

Just watching her perform, I can see she wasn’t 100% probably she didn’t get much rest after the show. Could have been better?

Great job, Cassadee!  I thought she is a deserving winner of The Voice!  I would’ve been happy with Terry also!

She has a really nice voice that can sing different genres and is really pretty!  I hope she is very successful.

I think P2 is the worst vocalist who has ever won a reality singing contest. His poor attempts at Christmas songs this past month showed how weak he is vocally. He was extremely lucky to get a great song that worked well with his limited range and vocal stylings. Add in the once in a lifetime promo opportunity of the Olympics and you have a hit. Lee is a better overall vocalist, but he didn’t have the same good fortune as PP.

Cassadee is a much better vocalist than these two winners from AI. It will all come down to the type of music and single she gets, and more than anything, the amount of money and support she gets from a major record label.

Totally agree, although I don’t think that Lee is that much better than P2.

I agree. As a woman, the reason why I’m “mad” at this whole penis era on idol is because it annoys me seeing talented women struggling to win over less talent (or even talentless) men.
However, this wasn’t the case on the voice. Both Nicholas and Terry could sing circles around Cassadee. To me, she was the most boring of the top 6, eventhough I don’t dislike her.

If a woman was going to win the voice, this woman should had been  Amanda.

  • SullyD

BTW, althought I’m not keen on her tone or style, I don’t think Cassadee is the worst winner on those competitions, not even close, lol.
She’s not even the worst “The Voice” winner. IMO, Jermaine was.

  • angiedb

It amazes me, every time I read comments here, the vast differences in opinion. It’s so intriguing to me! For the record, I am pretty indifferent to Cassadee. I’m fine with her winning, though I would have rather one of the boys had won.

I expect Cassadee to do well, unremarkable singing and all.  The Voice was planning on doing A&R for potential winners all the way through the competition and I think they’ll make good on their promise to get the right material out at the right time. (Didn’t Jermaine Paul release some sappy Father’s day dreck right after the show and then basically disappear?)  She’s never going to be a powerhouse singer, but she’s not horrible, she has some star quality, and obviously, she was the most popular contestant by an apparent landslide.  She probably had her album mostly finished before the show.

Melanie was probably my favorite of the girls but she’s not exactly a great singer and I wouldn’t have wanted her to win it.  Amanda would probably be a lock for the top 3 on Idol or X Factor, but The Voice makes a little more space for quirkiness.

Runner-up Terry told a Scottish paper that he has talks with Universal Records right after the holidays and some other “interesting offers,” so I suspect he’ll be signed before too long.  Did the whole top 4 end up getting signed last season?

Well, she has good teeth, good complexion, she’s not overweight.  I see the brunette/brown hair thing as her biggest flaw.  But the brassy blonde thing wouldn’t look good on her.  Maybe some highlights or a crispy new ‘do?  The music’ll be mastered in the studio.   She’s good front cover magazine material man!

LOL at the “worst ever” comments… until the next reality singing competitor that is not the “best ever”

    Next?

Cassadee deserves her win and I believe she will be successful.
The worst singer to win is a toss up between Lee and Philip.
I actually think it’s P2 who from his audition alone I was already cringing with his interpretation of Thriller how forced he was singing it because his voice is just so limited trying to stretch it miserably.
But I like him as a person and he has charisma compared to Lee who has none.
