Casey’s schedule seems a bit light compared to the other two. Hmmm…no parade?

Are these preliminary plans? I would hope he has a parade, those are so fun to watch.

Hmmmmmm. These plans do seem light. Dallas-Ft. Worth is supposed to have rain and heavy hail, so possibly even scheduled events won’t happen. Casey sniffing the CO2 from that bus????

I’m at the live feed.. they’re expecting big storms so that’s why it’s not confirmed that he’ll have a parade yet.

I wish it wasn’t mostly today because I have work and company. The Wildflower Festival isn’t even that far away from where I live.

There’s always someone who doesn’t seem to get as much going on for their hometown visit. I have a feeling that Casey won’t be too upset about it though. He’s looking pretty cute on the Fox morning show and the girls are squealing. :)

Yes, and I always feel terrible for them. It is actually a very effective bus job. Looks like no one likes them, not crummy planning.

I think there’s going to be a parade around the stockyards if the weatherman cooperates.

I watched the feed and it seems like he had a big crowd and that everyone was quite excited. He seems very down to earth and appreciative of all the support. Can’t wait to hear what he sings Tuesday!!!

I’m saying this as a Casey fan, someone who’s voted for him every week: I hope that, as the day goes on, he loosens up a bit. He seems a little overwhelmed by all the attention, even after having been on Idol all these weeks. I wish Adam could have coached all three of them a little when he was mentor, on how to be media friendly. I’m still looking forward to seeing how his day pans out.

I *knew* he was a sweetheart. I wish the newspeople would ask him a question that requires more than a 3-word answer, tho. Shut up and let the guy you’re INTERVIEWING say something.

He seems to have a lot of trouble turning his head to the left. Poor kid. That accident must’ve been a bitch. So glad he recovered!

Aw, he’s so cute! He really loves the blue shirt doesn’t he? (need some new shirts, Casey.) Someone mentioned that Casey’s home town is 50 miles from Fort Worth. If that’s the case, then that – and concerns about the weather may explain why the Casey’s schedule is a little tentative and the Milsap events are on Saturday.

I hope that’s all it is because, while I smell busing where Casey is concerned, I’d like to believe they will do as much as possible for all their top 3 when it comes to hometown visits. The fans like to watch the celebrations and they show them until after the voting is done anyway.

He seems a little overwhelmed by all the attention, even after having been on Idol all these weeks.

Some of the eliminated Idols have said that they are in a kind of “AI bubble” when they are on the show and don’t really get a sense of what’s really going on out there in the fandom. This is may be quite eye-opening and overwhelming for them.

Casey will be seeing his friends, family, his dogs and gets to play at 4 venues while he’s there. I think he is probably thrilled to death just by that.
There was a big enthusiastic crowd at the Fox studio when he arrived. He was really surprised …even slightly embarrassed I think. I’m expecting a big Texas turn out everywhere he goes.

Casey seems just as stunned today as he was on Wednesday when he got through. Must be overwhelming to come out of the AI bubble and be greeted by screaming girls and crowds of people. LOL!

He seems like such a chill guy. The look on his face when the girls screamed in response to his being single was pretty priceless.

Local paper (Star-Telegram) says

The big shindig, with the parade and performance in the Fort Worth Stockyards, is scheduled for 4 p.m.

so there is a parade scheduled. Hope the weather is okay at 4 PM. Not looking too good out this way right now, but the bad stuff is staying slightly west of us (I’m in Fort Worth).

Let’s just hope the weather cooperates! Casey has overcome much against dire odds. Sometimes that bus just doesn’t leave the station as planned. Casey is humble, awesome, great vocals and terrific picker. He is my Idol. :) Go Casey. Good interview ongoing.

He is very soft spoken and seems sweet. Hope he gets a good homecoming……

Put yourself in the place of Casey..if that is possible. :) Imagine being busy 24/7 and the stress of it all and the appearances on AI and the dissing from the judges. Step out of that bubble suddenly and THERE are the people! Not being used to the admiration and being a humble person can be overwhelming. How would you handle it? Takes time to get used to. He is sounding great on the interview now. Sounds like just a good guy not so into himself.

I hope they get some video of his mama and his pooches. They seem to be his first loves.

Loved his line about the KFC job and how you better be nice to fast food employees or you never know what could end up in your bucket of fried chicken. (Remember the urban legends about fried rats?)

That works for me! Below is a report from my Sis in Texas from an interview he did today.

He was on for a full hour, greeting people a lot and sitting down with anchors. The blond female anchor twittered from the moment he arrived. His mom and brother were there. Also some of his teachers & coaches, kids currently in his high school, and others filled the studio and lined the walkway out to the street where he arrived. He’s very unassuming & looks like he can hardly realize he’s the cause for all the excitement. When he was greeting the people, he consistently spoke very respectfully with words like Yes, M’am; Thank you, sir; Thank y’all…… His mom and brother were there separately from him. When it was time for him to leave & head to his next stop, he stood and gave mom and brother big hugs before he went. People–mainly girls–were all around him for autographs.

An anchor asked if he gets nervous on Wednesday night. He said no, because it’s all said and done then. Said he just tries to give it his best on Tuesday, and after that it’s out of his hands.

One of the anchors asked what kind of music he wants to do after Idol. He answered he would like to do a mix of blues, rock, and country–all the kinds of music he likes.

Well you know Simon did not want to put him through at the audition so I would expect Simon to be critical as he does not to be wrong again. He didn’t want to put Taylor through and Taylor won and Paula reminded Simon of that in the finale! Casey handles all with grace and dignity and doesn’t forget who he is it appears to me. He is an artist who is going places IMO. The only music purchased by me this season is Casey. Do you have family in the States who could vote for you? :)

I am going to be my usual very shallow self and say that if I were watching Idol and were voting I think Casey would get my vote. Grrr…the cougarness is coming out.

From what I have seen and heard from Lee (on the show) he just doesn’t have any personality…he makes Carrie look like Miss Animated come to life. And Crystal is not my favorite type of performer…I am just not into coffee house “I’m a serious entertainer” type of peeps. I just need more oomph and a little bit of the “IT” factor.

I think Casey might find a niche in the bluesy side of country…and he does have some good guitar skills. So, for what its worth…Team Casey for me.

I think Adam should be a judge on AI and IMO he was an awesome mentor and all of the contestants did better and seemed to listen to him.

I couldn’t agree more. She said Casey sounded like a lamb. She move her head like a chicken and it is so annonying. :(

PattyP, thanks for posting that! He was really funny on the Kidd Kraddick show, and they all seemed to like him a lot.

I loved that he talked about loving to play music, and that he considered himself successful before Idol because he was doing what he loved.

Well, Casey will be fine! No, he is mighty FINE! I am sure that having to overcome what he did with the Drs. telling him he would never play guitar again, that he is thankful and grateful and frankly, that display is so awesome to see…instead of the arguing or making excuses that we see from other contestants. Go Casey.

I will be shocked if Simon picks for Casey as he usually picks IMO for the one he thinks is front runner. And it would be beneath him to pick for Casey. :) It surely appears that Casey is prepared for whatever happens and will just go out there and do the best with what he is given and let the chips fall as they may. One cannot do anymore than give their best. I believe the song will be texted when he is at AT&T. I think I have read that and it makes sense.

I heard part of the Casey Kidd Kraddick interview. One thing I heard is that they’re going to be giving the docs who operated on Casey after his motorcycle accident something but he wouldn’t say what it was. That should be a good moment.

They played bits of songs called Freezing and Road To Coming Home on the show too. Pretty good stuff, it was the 1st I’d heard of them. Casey didn’t realize that they were still available online because he thought you had to pull them down during the show. Freezing is one of the 1st songs he wrote and it was 9 years ago he said.

His musical influences are varied and it shows. I get it with him and FEEL the vibes when he sings. That is a true artist for me as to the relating. Casey all the way. VOTE!

It will work out. And there is a visit to his hometown tomorrow morning I think. Don’t count out small town folks along the way. The Doc visit alone will be the highlight for me. From what I hear from my Sis in that area, he has already seen crowds and IF AI chooses to highlight it or downplay will be the key. I don’t care. What matters is how he performs and regardless, I truly believe he has a career ahead of him and I will be at the font of the line! :)

I sure hope people vote hard for Casey, he has been damn good except one week!

Well, he can sing once in a while. I don’t know what one would call that thing he did to Blue Skies, though. And the performance of Don’t Stop Thinking About Tomorrow that looked to me as if it were being performed by a comatose person. I’ve seen few performances on Idol that I thought were half as phoned in as that one. In my opinion, he phoned in several performances over the course of the finals, and it just baffles me how anybody who really wanted this could do that. If you really wanted to be a recording artist, why would you do lazy, half-assed performances in a contestant on national television? And he even said, later, more or less that he *knew* he’d done that. If he wins. Yikes.

I do think he’s a very talented musician who should and will get some good jobs from this. But as some big solo singer with an album coming out and a tour headliner? That just seems ridiculous to me. I don’t think he has either the voice or the presence for that. Heck, to me he doesn’t even seem as if he would *want* that.

Of course, I have pretty much the same feelings about Lee, and, I will admit, Casey is on pitch a lot more than Lee.

I like these two guys. I think they have the ability to do some stuff in music. But American Idols? Cripes.

I really hate this season.

I’m sure by now he probably knows what song the Judges picked. I mean really they make it like they just learn the news today but I think they knew a few weeks ago.

If indeed they just learn it today they don’t have but 1 day to rehearse it. That is crazy! Think about it, Fri, Sat at home with visits, travel, he won’t be back in tinsel town until late Sunday night. No sleep, then monday show prep stuff…so really no time to rehearse!

It’s an undeserving Grammy winner for Song Of The Year. Fits Casey’s style as far as being mainstream’s version of acoustic blues but coming from the douche John Mayer it’s a creepy song where he basically says it’s the parents’ fault if their daughter is emotionally unavailable. Kara probably also picked it because she thinks it’ll appeal to Casey’s female fans.

“Fathers be good to your daughters, Daughters will love like you do,Girls become lovers who turn into mothers, So mothers be good to your daughters too.”

It’s not a pick where they’re throwing him under the bus IMO but it’s a somewhat polarizing song. Casey should sound good on it. There’s not much range on it. But Kara will slam him if he can’t make it his own.

Well, I think some people have heard it, I think it won the grammy for Song of The Year!! I think it’s a good pick for Casey. It’s never been a favorite song of mine and it used to be on the radio ALLLL the time, but I think Casey can do a good job on it. It isn’t vocally difficult though, and it’s a pretty mellow song. John Mayer is a good pick though, I think there are lots of similarities to Casey.

They lyric’s alone doesn’t fit CASEY and his fans. My gosh, its worse then them having him sing the Mickey Mouse song!

You can listen to it here, if I do this right. My concern is that it is a slow song — not enough “oomph” for a real standout performance, I don’t think … but hey, Taylor made “You Are So Beautiful” work really well for him, so you never know.

I really hate this season.

Yes, Casey had a couple of off nights! Who hasn’t among the three? Seems like Lee is off tune every time. The moments for Casey more than make up for Blue Skies. I don’t like Sinatra music and really don’t see why they are forced to sing that stuff. :(

Of the three, Casey is the Idol IMO. I agree that past seasons has had more talent, but it is what it is this year and my choice 100% is CASEY. I don’t for one minute believe Casey or any of them would not want to be a tour headliner. They would not have put themselves out there if that were not the case. Perhaps what you see with Casey is that the judges have dissed him so much while pimping others out of tune, that Casey just decided to do what he could and let the chips fall where they will. With that being said, I would really like to see show a strong desire to win this thing and blow us all away with whatever he sings. :)

Grammy song or not, I don’t like it. Too sleepy, bad lyric’s, and it SUCKS

True but this is Kara we’re talking about which means what she’s thinking is the most popular recognizable song that fits how she sees Casey as an artist that she thinks will appeal to his female fans is what she’s going to pick. She probably thinks this will help Casey just like she thought Apologize by One Republic was the right pick for Kris. I think she’s on target for Casey because she wasn’t going to pick a country song or an old song.

Just remember her problem with Kris’s performance was that he didn’t change it up like he changed up Heartless. That’s what she’ll be looking for Casey to do.

Casey’ll get to pick his other song so if Daughters is too sleepy then he can pick a more dynamic song for his other one.

OH NO! I am in Florida. The one who couldn’t vote is in Poland but we fixed that as she has a friend here in the states who will vote, vote vote! My entire family votes..even my hubby who doesn’t watch Idol all the time. He watched last week and of all without knowing anything, he thought the duet with Casey/Mike was the best and the highlight of the evening. He texts and calls on cell and I vote land line.

OH and it sounds like Randy had zero input on this choice! It all smells of the stank from Kara.

John Mayer is a good pick though, I think there are lots of similarities to Casey.

This is about par with the judges and their “expert” picks. :) I told you Simon would pick for who he thinks is the front runner and no telling what he will come up with. I am glad he did not pick for Casey. :)

Exactly! I think this song could very well be in his wheelhouse. I hope his pick is like what he did in hollywood – “I Don’t Need No Doctor”, which I loved loved loved. Have to say, Casey writes pretty music but he’d benefit by working with a good lyricist. Of course, he said he wrote that song 9 years ago, so I’m guessing he has got more current stuff out there somewhere. I’d love something he’s written more recently.

By the way, I loved the Kid Kraddick interview. Casey was funny and seemed comfortable, cool and typically humble.

I am really anxious to see what Casey does with this song. Sorry to see so many feel negative about it. It will give him a chance to show off his guitar skills. His sweet personality and good looks seem a good match for this song. If it works and his personal choice shows another side of him, this could be a good thing.

However this turns out, I have no doubt that Casey will from here on out be able to make a good living doing what he loves.

Last week and next week are the only times I have looked forward to watching Idol this season, due solely to Casey. Really couldn’t care less about the other two finalists.

Perhaps what you see with Casey is that the judges have dissed him so much while pimping others out of tune, that Casey just decided to do what he could and let the chips fall where they will.

Nope. Been watching for nine seasons and never have been influenced by the judges! Sometimes I agree with a judge, and sometimes I so so don’t. I’m just stating my own opinions.

As I said, to me, Casey is a very talented guitarist, a good musician and a pretty talented singer who has had a couple of “moments” and the rest of the time has not shown me a great voice or great presence in the least. To me, he’s way too inconsistent and not a good enough singer or performer to actually deserve to win this prize.

As I also said, I think the same — and even more so — of Lee, because of his off-key issues.

Of the three, I’m giving the prize to Crystal, because I’ve felt more focused performances from her somewhat more often than from either of the two guys and I think she’s a better actual *singer* than either of them.

By the way, the emphasis there is on “of the three” because, honestly, I’m not thrilled with her being the American idol, either. They’re all quite talented but not special enough, in my opinion, and, very notably, not consistently intense enough as performers. And that *so* includes Casey, for me! In fact, the “not consistently intense enough as performers” judgment, for me, applies *especially* to Casey. I consider him to have actually stepped up *twice* to give truly excellent and intense *singing* performances (great guitar many times, though, but, uh, it’s not a guitar contest!) over the whole course of the semifinals and finals thus far. And that’s really not enough for me to dub him “good enough to win.” … (Lee, in my judgment, is even lower on the scale — I’d say he’s not *fully* stepped up even once and has kind of half stepped up maybe four times.)

I hate this season.

I do think the final three (and four) are all quite talented musicians, in different ways. Casey may be the most broadly talented of them, really. … But, still, not American Idols to me, in any way, shape, or form, unfortunately.

That said, I hope he does do a killer performance this week. I hope they all do — but, based on past performance, I’m not really expecting them to.

Lera, I agree with you that it is not the looks for me but the music and the looks don’t hurt! It just completes the package for me with his personality, musical style, guitar pickin’ and icing on the cake is he presents well! He will be fine. Don’t worry. No one would like to see him advance further in this competition than me I don’t believe. But, if he doesn’t, that is ok as he is going to do well in Nashville. It is already there so don’t worry. :) Just vote and get your friends to vote. HELP him. :):) Sounds like I am preaching to the choir huh? :)

I think “Gravity” may be off limits for the rest of this year because it was done already by John Park.

I don’t really see this as a bad choice at all…it certainly gives Casey more potential for a moment than some generic “wheelhouse” rock number.

Wow. There are so many more posts for Casey than Lee or Crystal. I really think Casey has a chance to go to the finale and possibly win this. He’s the “Kris Allen” in the sense that he’s always under-estimated. I also think he’s more of the complete package and could do wonders in country as I’m assuming thats the type of album he’d make.

I’m surprised Randy and Kara didn’t pick a country song for Casey but I can see him doing John Mayer since he’s an amazing guitarist.

The vibrato doesn’t bother me. I hadn’t even really noticed it until I read about it here. I have asked folks who don’t read this blog and none have noticed it as offending. With that being said, as it has been pointed out, I hope Casey will take note and work on it to improve. I heard vibrato with Daughtry and HCJ but no one commented on that. Guess if we heard them often enough it would be noticed.

I give the edge by a teensy tiny margin to Crystal. But … not happy with this “compared to what” situation — so she wins for me by a teensy margin but it’s not really winning for me! ….

This is an unusual situation for me, because in every previous season, I’ve been hyped enough about the talents of at least a couple of the, say, top 6 people to think that two or more would make worthy winners. This year — not so much. … I do think this group all has the talent to have nice jobs in the music business. But to me none of them have been performing like stars at all. Hopefully, I’ll be more excited by somebody on So You Think You Can Dance!

Rayni, I think it is nerves too. It is almost as if when he sees that camera light his stomach muscles tighten up therefore he isn’t relaxed enough.

Just like in the beginning when he smiled a lot throughout the song…that was nerves too. He got past that, and he is showing improvement each week with the camera in his face.

I’m thinking that he will be so tired Tuesday night that he won’t be nervous and he’ll sing really great.

I think Casey has gained a lot of fans the past couple of week from those that were supporting the other Idols that were eliminated. Many people are fed up with the bashing of the judges and have come over to support Casey as well.

I agree with the theory that Casey will out shine & out live the fame of Lee & Crystal….and I do love Lee & Crystal’s voices but that said…Casey is more marketable and I love & enjoy him when he’s comfortable in his element

YES!! That’s part of what completed the deal for me. THAT’S the Casey I had been waiting to see – relaxed, into the music, PERFORMING. I loved it. I think he may be better suited to a Daughtry-like setup.

Mike and Casey stomped their foot the same time, and cocked there head away from the mic at the same time, in different spots during the duet. I just loved it!

Okay, confession time here! Lol! I am not invested like I was 2 years ago for the Battle of the Davids, but I find myself very intrigued by Casey. It is not his looks for me either, although I am not blind to the fact that he is very handsome. But something about his voice, excellent guitar skills, and the quiet sensitivity he brings to his songs draws me in. Several of his performances made me stop and rewatch, which is something I rarely do. “Jealous Guy” and “Don’t” were awesome. So why do I feel guilty? Lee is from my area and I should be pulling for the hometown guy, but I personally prefer the quiet confidence of Casey. I hope all three do well on Tuesday, and I will vote based on the night.

I had always thought it would definitely be Crystal, but I’m allowing myself to hope he takes the top slot. I know he can handle it. His family seems very well-grounded and will be a great help in keeping him down-to-earth as his “balloon” rises even higher.

Yep, totally agree. Their cheapness is really beginning to catch up with them. … And it probably doesn’t help that this year’s group is sort of shy and non-pushy, so they probably haven’t tried very hard to get different songs for themselves and such.

Thanks tried and failed. I have trees everywhere. Called the only cell service in my area and they told me I’m on the border of having no service at all. They have no idea if plans are in the works to increase the tower but told me if there is so much red tape it can take up to 7 years.

BINGO! That is it exactly for me too as I feel his music and his soul in his delivery. And actually, many of the reviews were very good for him and Mrs. Robinson. He is a talented guy and I agree totally with the body language with Casey/Mike. :)

On the surface, this looks like a good choice, but what on earth is Casey supposed to do with it? I really like the song, but its wave like melody seems like it would be a bear to wrestle into a new arrangement. Plus, it’s the newest song of the three having come out jurst a couple of years ago. How can you make it any more current? You can’t, especially when you, like John Mayer, are a kick-ass guitar player first and a singer second. This is the same thing this dynamic duo did to Kris last year with “Apoligize”. “Here kid, sing this song that’s already in your style, but don’t sound karaoke while you do it!”

Whew! Wipes brow. That works!!!!!!!!!!!! I get busy signals a lot at first for Casey, then spordically for a few minutes, then busy, busy. This goes on until the top of the hour and then busy,busy. Bout the same the second hour. This is better for when I first started voting for him not many busys. My Sis in Dallas starts voting Central time but same as us so that couldn’t account for the busys at top of hour..perhaps Mountain Time does though. My husband said he could hardly get through at all on the first number, but had better luck with the second. We have two cell phones here and land line and they will both be in use like never before…..all 2 hours! :)

Chris Daughtry had a way worse vibrato, and he seems to have gotten it under control Daughtry had it in every song, Casey’s only shows up occasionally. I think a little bit of work with a vocal coach, and he’s got the goods. He at least sings on key, unlike Lee who can deviate rather frequently.

I’m also in the camp that Crystal probably deserves to win, but I think Casey deserves 2nd over Lee.

OK. Fair enough and it works for me. I am pretty much in sync with your choices over the seasons. I really like Jennifer Hudson and was very disappointed she was booted I think as 7th. It just thought she was so powerful with her vocals. Cook I love. :)

frankly, if he can learn to put this goat vibrato under control or makes it sound nicer, i kind of like his voice a lot

Chris Daughtry had a way worse vibrato, and he seems to have gotten it under control Daughtry had it in every song, Casey’s only shows up occasionally. I think a little bit of work with a vocal coach, and he’s got the goods. He at least sings on key, unlike Lee who can deviate rather frequently.

I’m also in the camp that Crystal probably deserves to win, but I think Casey deserves 2nd over Lee.

Gosh then vote for Crystal and Casey! :)

SEASON 9 Voting for Casey

Well at least on the blog, Casey is the contestant with the most buzz. :)

I don’t care if Casey or Lee ends up in the finals. I do think Casey is the more commercial of the two. I just hope Crystal wins. Not because I’m a huge fan but she deserves it and the show could use a female winner.

I think winning will be major this season. However if Crystal doesn’t win, they’ll just act like she did. That usually works out fine. :)

Crystals fanbase is much bigger then Lee and Casey combined. They only put her in bottom 2 last week to make her base not complacent.

If it is true that Simon picks for the person he thinks is going to win. Then Simon really needs to go have his ears checked. Seriously has he not really listened to Lee’s out of tune and flat note singing? No offense to Lee’s fans and I mean that. I think Lee is a nice guy but that is all for me.

ON a good note, the storms are weakening over the Dallas Ft Worth area and should clear out by this evening. It will be iffy with the parade still because some areas got 4 inches of rain and Texas does not have storm drainage piping like some states have.

I’m just curious where will Mike’s votes go – Crystal? I think Casey picked up some of Aaron’s votes and I do think Mrs. Robinson went over better than the judges wanted people to think and he picked up some of the casual vote to keep him in last week over Mike.

I started voting for Casey after Tim left. He’s my fav of the top 3.

The parade is not looking too good. I’m probably 20 minutes from the stock yards and we’re in a downpour here. Line of showers is still coming also.

Its the voice, the soul of the person, the essence vibes they give off that does it for me. Some call it the it factor but its a bad word because that meaning has a wide range.

Casey isn’t that big note guy like David Cook or Adam but he has a unique style that is very pleasing. His vibrato does come out too much at times but it is lessening and I know it has all to do with nerves. He has a slight normal vibrato which I like. Some people just hate any vibrato at all.

I understand why he sang the Fleetwood Mac song and that is because Stevie Nicks has a vibrato but I think it was Lindsey Buckingham that was the lead vocal on that song.

On the surface, this looks like a good choice, but what on earth is Casey supposed to do with it? I really like the song, but its wave like melody seems like it would be a bear to wrestle into a new arrangement. Plus, it’s the newest song of the three having come out jurst a couple of years ago. How can you make it any more current? You can’t, especially when you, like John Mayer, are a kick-ass guitar player first and a singer second. This is the same thing this dynamic duo did to Kris last year with “Apoligize”. “Here kid, sing this song that’s already in your style, but don’t sound karaoke while you do it!”

Personally, I love the song. But it has to be done right and Lee has a problem with pitch. I don’t like a lousy rendition of anything. It just reminds me of how bad it has been done compared to the way it should sound.

I am really not concerned about Casey with this song and think he will do it very pleasingly. Believe me, I was CONCERNED about what they would pick for him, and actually, this is a huge relief. I like the pick for him better than the picks for the other two. And I never thought I would be saying that.

Fans can be die hard and hopefully the weather holds out for Casey’s celebration.

According to Mike in an interview, he didn’t have a huge voting block for his style of music. He and Casey did have good rapport it seemed and did well together in the duet. I can’t see a fan of Mike’s going for Crystal type music. I think it would either be Lee or Casey..or both. I do agree Casey was blessed with many AAron votes.

My guess is Simon demanded that each Contestants choice be something they have already sung on the show! Remember when Cook sang something different and Simon’s reaction? I doubt Simon will let that happen again. After all this is Simon’s last year so he’ll get what he ask for.

Logically, I think all of them haven’t gotten further than they ever though possible. But make no mistake. Casey wants to win this thing. He is just quietly competitive. And people like the underdog. Not a bad place to be right now.

If they have to sing something they already sang I hope he selects “Hold on I’m coming” He can do it better the 2nd time.

Not a fan of any of these kids, but lurk every now and then to see what the talk is about.
One thing I would say about Casey, based on his guitar playing -I believe he has the chops to play lead- and has been able to play in tune. I believe he’s a serious musician who can lay down some licks on the guitar. I play guitar like anybody else like Kris and Cook, there are millions of us like that. Lead guitarists are a dime a dozen(not as much as millions like me) and he can get a gig as a session player – similar to Tim Stewart. I don’t think Idol has ever had this calibe of a guitarist even though his playing is above average in the grand scheme of things.

Well on second thought, he has to do a lot more with Lawdy Miss Clawdy. Nope. not this one.

I think that people are making a big mistake if they underrate Casey. Even people who are not into bluesy country have been won over by him. His conduct on the show has been perfect. No arrogance. No back talk to the judges. And, he provided one of the few “wow” moments on the show this season with his performance of “Jealous guy”. Best guitar playing too.

I think the judges have underrated and underestimated Casey all along. That comes as no big shock. They did the same with Kris and Allison last year. Did their best to ignore them, until the end.

Here today, there has been 4 times as much reaction to Casey as there was for Lee, and 8 times more reaction to Casey compared with Crystal. Of course, that doesn’t prove anything. Or does it?

Much as I am ticked at Ellen (mostly for her non review of the awesome duet) she is not the first to do that.

Don’t you remember last year when Simon kept saying it would be a Danny and Adam finale because they were the two best singers?

Yes, Simon picked for Kat McPhee and then raved about himself and his greatness and dissed Taylor and we know the rest of the story. Don’t get mad..Vote. Good mantra. :)

Later today, Casey will perform at the Fort Worth Stockyards , rain or shine. The big event has been moved back by a half-hour and will start at 4:30 p.m. The location has also been moved from under the Stockyards Station sign to the Back 40.

Casey will then head to the Wildflower arts and music festival in Richardson, where he’s slated to perform a brief set at 9:35 p.m.

On Saturday, James will be at Milsap’s Bulldog Stadium at 10 a.m., where he’s expected to sing a few songs. The mayor of Cool is also slated to attend.

Well it will as people have a tendency to go for the underdog as the case may be. They really didn’t say much about Mrs. Robinson…tried to talk and said nothing…filling time and passing it on. I read good reviews of that performance.

I really liked the way he did that song. As I was watching the show and as he was singing I remember thinking “No way can the judges not acknowledge that as being Karaoke or he didn’t do anything with it. Then I heard the Judges and I was like “WTH” are they hearing!!

Then my senses took over and I knew they want casey to go home. They did their best to try and turn him into a Joke as if he would be compared to someone like Mitchell or the Bikini girl!

You know I thought that is why they had him on the show. They had the bikini girl so the producers thought they had to find the male counterpart. In walks Casey but little did they know that people actually took Casey serious and like what they heard!

I don’t think the others are singing as much as Casey is.

Casey is a hit and liked or he would be GONE! It is TWIST time on AI and hopefully, the judges will get another surprise. If they dis Casey and he does a good performance, people will know and vote accordingly.

:) If one watches Idol long enough one sees the pattern. Additionally, Idol is really going off the chart and something needs to be done and no one takes the judges seriously it seems. Look how many of us raced to their website to critique the judges for a change! I hope they see it too! Turn about is fair play isn’t it?

This thing is still up for grabs no matter what anyone says. It gets to be a different ballgame at this point. Look at last year and who won. At this point in the game, Kris had been written off. Performances count at this point…not for the very biased who have already made up their minds, but for the more casual voters. Go CASEY. Now is the time to step up his game and look at it this way. He is on a confidence building tour now singing to folks who appreciate him. After the digs he has taken, he may come back refreshed and ready to dig in. :)

:) That could backfire and cause some of the Crystal/Lee casual voters not to vote if they think they have it all sewn up. Why should they bother? It ain’t over till the fat lady sings…and she ain’t sung yet, y’all. :)

We need all those old Taylor, Daughtry, Cook voters to jump in this week. They did this for David Cook the hicks and daughtry fans. The last week they all jumped in and adopted Cook. About 50 or more stated they didn’t care but when Cook sang Dare you to Move, that is when they all said they will vote hard for Cook.

Clearly showed they made an impact with Cook getting 30 million more votes. Amazing!

the performance posted is good. Casey seems to let go much more than usual. I wish it was the complete performance

Incredible and thank you so much for this report!!! I am from your area but live in Florida now and wish I was there. My Sister lives in Dallas and has kept me up to date. So here is my friends recap…

My friend said Casey came out and rocked the hell out of the place. She said his range is unbelievable and he is singing & perfoming a million times better than he does on idol. Singing Heaven! He sounds amazing. My friend said he sounds absolutely gorgeous live and there was no vibrato. She is very shocked. She has always loved his voice but he has been holding back on Idol. He also sang a blues song with his mom not sure what though. She said Casey’s falsetto was amazingly beautiful and that he was holding notes that were unbelievable and singing a million times better than he has on idol.Can you say Matt syndrome? He said he wanted to hug everyone and is extremely sweet!

So they gave him a hat,cowboy boots, and key to the city and something else but not sure what. She said there were about 3000 people there. So sad that the weather sucked for him.

Cool. I was raised there and all of my family is there but me and POWER voting for CASEY. :)

I’ve heard on these reality shows that they do put people on just has fillers to make it interesting. If the fanbase is very large then they have a hard time to get rid of them but if it isn’t a big one then they can.

But Casey said this morning he is in it to win it. Maybe now he is turning up the volume. OH please let it be so.

he is very competitive but riding low like he has was a big risk..not sure he would risk this much for such a long time if it is a strategy with him.

He is relaxed and not having to play it safe to please a judge that doesn’t have a clue! IMO. Perhaps when he comes back he will just do his thing as what has he got to lose at this point. Playing it safe is over and he needs to go for it! I hope he has his swagger and confidence in play and belts it. He can do it.

No. This is a big deal for them to suddenly be in the spot light and critiqued each. It has to be wearing and nerve wracking at the same time. Remember the rumors about Crystal crying and wanting to go home? There is a fear of rejection that makes one hold back and I think that is what it with Casey….especially after the dismissive efforts of the judges. That is why I hope this visit away and into the real world and the love he is getting will inspire him to be who he is and let all see how really good he is.

REALLY? I didn’t know it was that close. I always think of Abilene Texas and Mac Davis! :)

Yeah I use to have to drive to Dallas once a week. It was an hour drive give or take just a few minutes.

AWFUL song choices by the judges all around. Daughters is the dullest song and John Mayer is cheesy. Who wants to hear Halleluiah AGAIN? It’s also a very delicate, haunting song and that is not Lee’s style. And Baby I’m Amazed? Cheesy, corny, boring, UGHHHHHH.

UGHHHHHH.

I am satisfied with the song for Casey. Shocking actually. The other two are totally off base for me.

I thought about the song choice more now and this is what I thought.

So my friend just watched the news from Fort Worth and they showed some of his visit to the hospital. They showed Casey’s x-rays from the accident. Casey gave the hospital an autographed guitar that said “To the good people who saved my life” and signed it love Casey. I guess he wanted his mom to give the doctor the guitar but she couldn’t because she was crying too hard. Casey couldn’t read what he wrote on the guitar because he was too chocked up so the doctor read it out loud. All the nurses were lined up there and Casey gave them all hugs. Casey visited the patients and one of the patients was a severly injured 19 year old and he was very impressed that Casey came to visit him and he said Casey was very grounded. I guess there were some fans outside the building cheering for Casey.

Glad you feel better now. The first thing I did when I heard what it was going to be was to go and listen and YEP! I was so afraid of what they might give him and really throw him under to dig for a bone. But, this works for him and will show off his guitar talents too. For all that guessing and trying to read tea leaves, I think he got the best fit of all three. I don’t want to hear the shouting or folksy stuffy Crystal will do with that song and I don’t like it anyway. Nuff said about the other one…Fast Feet. :)

He had a really bad sinus infection. He had what I had and let me tell you it was bad. I had to lay on a heating pad it took 7 days on antibiotics before the pain subsided. I wanted to pull out every molar in my mouth! Not to mention the migraine.

I had it 8 days before I figured this wasn’t just a flu bug. I didn’t have a draining runny nose like most colds. It started out like that a little bit so this is why the long delay to see a doctor. Then the pain it and I was in the ER asap but even on the strongest penicillin it wasn’t until the 7th or 8th day on meds did I feel some relief. So counting total it was about 14 to 16 days I was in pain.

His brother posted it on his FB saying that he had been sick with tonsillitis, laryngitis, walking pneumonia, H1N1, and a chronic sinus infection that they had to do a cat scan of. He never complained, whined or said anything to get a sympathy vote. The only people who didn’t know were the voting public.

That’s why we are here. I have not felt well with the sinus stuff..getting over it but was rough. Too much time for the puter…but this site and CASEY is a pleasant distraction from the real problems going on in the world. :(

Yes. Agree. I so hope they use the back-story. I think he needs to pick it up after the Mayer tune selected and showcase his talents in a lively manner. Of course Simon won’t “get it” and will call it corny or silly or worse.

I hope it all works out for you. Tough times for many and doesn’t seem to be getting better. I hate to even look at the news or headlines. Makes me want to go Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. So, off and not feeling well has given me plenty of CASEY time. :)

I noticed when HCJ mentored Crystal got a short blurb when her diabetic meter alarm went off. Gee what timing. I mean you know you are going to go in there with HCJ wouldn’t you take your shot before hand, or monitor your blood sugar before you go in? That was for viewers sympathy votes. Ahh anyway, who cares they won’t do anything to elevate Casey.

Isn’t he just the sweetest thing. So warm. Think ahead to how naturally & genuinely he can interact with fans once he is finished with the show.

The qualities seen in him here are something no amount of pimping by judges could ever get for other contestants.

You know what I noticed about Casey and his Fans? For example on IDF there is a casey fan forum right, but nobody has posted in it for a month now. My guess is Casey has more silent average non blogging fans then we can even imagine.

The ones on the forums and blogs a lot are silently voting for him. They don’t want to post in the fanwar type threads any more. They are speaking by voting.

Yeah, I saw on evening news a clip of him playing & singing a sizzling hot blues streak at Keys today. he ones on the forums and blogs a lot are silently voting for him. They don’t want to post in the fanwar type threads any more. They are speaking by voting.

That is why I enjoy MJ’s. I will not get in a fan war fight. Voting is the only voice that counts! I have two cells and land line ready! :) Can you see Casey posting? I don’t and I don’t see he has twittered as much as the others. And he is quieter in the interviews. Smart IMO. Let his music speak. All he has to do is stand there and look good. :)

hhhh, this fine young man can sing & play the blues! I imagine it felt good to be playing at Keys again. (I’ve heard lots of terrific live blues at small venues like this, and it’s a good setting to enjoy it.)

What a memorable day this has been for him and for all of us who support him.

Today they’ve run him from Ft. Worth to Dallas and around Dallas, to Grapevine, back to Forth Worth and around Ft. Worth, and then he is scheduled to play up in Richardson north of Dallas around 9:30 tonight. Whew! I suppose they’ll take him back home to Ft. Worth afterward. Come tomorrow morning he’ll be down the road in Millsap playing at his high school.

Time will be short to prepare for Tuesday’s AI show.

I use 2 cells and have found a way to vote for 4 hours instead of two.

LOL at the Lee fans saying 40,000 people came to see Lee at Arlington Park today. Don’t they realize that not everyone there went specifically to see Lee?

I am so angry at the way Casey has been treated by American Idol. It breaks my heart to think that someone less talented is being pimped and will probably end up winning. I am going to pray that Casey is offerred a record deal even if he goes out 3rd!

I can identify! :) I read that he didn’t even have a TV for the most part while growing up….it had broken and no money to repair or replace. So, he and his Mom and brother played guitar and sang for entertainment. I would loved to have heard the song he and his Mom did today. :)

His mom looked so nervous to be on TV today. I’m think she is really camera shy like Casey too. They must have been very private people and this is all so obscure to them.

I noticed when HCJ mentored Crystal got a short blurb when her diabetic meter alarm went off. Gee what timing. I mean you know you are going to go in there with HCJ wouldn’t you take your shot before hand, or monitor your blood sugar before you go in? That was for viewers sympathy votes. Ahh anyway, who cares they won’t do anything to elevate Casey.

To be fair, it’s an insulin pump, as far as I know. She doesn’t actually do shots or test (usually) if she’s got an insulin pump because it does all of that automatically by constantly monitoring her blood sugar. It beeping might have meant that it was getting low on insulin or something and needed refilled, or might also have been indicating that her blood sugar was actually too low and she needed to be eating something soon. HCJ didn’t seem to be aware of her being diabetic at all beforehand – I think he thought it was a cell phone or something.

Anyways, I’m glad to see that all of them got what sounds like a good reception at home. Even though I’m 100% pro-Crystal I’m still trying to be fair to everyone else, lol. Originally people were saying it sounded like Crystal was singing a lot – sounds to me like they all have been! Didn’t anyone warn them to be careful? :-P

Wasn’t there an event going on at Arlington Park today? Too bad it is not football season, or Casey could have made an appearance at the Cowboy’s game and then claimed close to 100K showed up to see him. Now, who would ever believe that at this point? No more than I believe 40K people came to see Lee WHO that sings out of tune and most in Chicago have probably never even heard of and wonder what is this guy doing here?

I think the excitement of being out of that bubble must be very overwhelming and they want to really please people. Probably too they have frustration in that they’ve had to sing some really lame songs and this gives them a chance to sing stuff they like.

Crystals pump…just saying, I probably would have checked that before going in to see any Mentor. Dare I be the one to have interruptions.

I was just looking at that hospital video & thought if they show some of that in his package, a lot of casual voters who didn’t know that about him might pick up the phone due to backstory.

The problem is that they don’t show the hometown footage until the results show when voting is already over, not on the performance show. :(

I’m hungry for video of tonight’s singing of Casey. I’ll start looking for Video’s but my guess is MJ has the big scoop of the entire schedule, she is on it.

Grateful to everyone, even the cameramen, and just</ a decent human being.
That is how Casey came across on Good Day & everywhere he went today. What you see is who he is. Straight up and well grounded.

Good Day had a mystery caller who spoke to Casey to see if he recognized her. She asked him if he remembered drama class in high school, her picking him up at home to go work on their play, and some other details. He was listening and thinking hard, at one point placing his finger at his lips in concentration. He said it is hard to remember a long time ago….and kept thinking…..then the light came on… Ms. Lewis?! he asked. Then Ms. Lewis, his teacher, came walking onto the set to surprise him.

His words, warm tone, expression, smile and all showed he was so grateful for Ms. Lewis coming and for everyone who showed up, for everyone who votes for him, and for everything people are doing to support him. When the limo had first pulled up at the station with him for first event of the day, it was where he could see people waiting. When he got out to make his way into station and hug/greet along the way, he said he had not expected anyone to be there, and it was a shock. Said he was so honored for them to be there & for people voting for him.

At one point he sat briefly on a stool or something while mingling with the people in TV studio. A cute little girl about 8-10 yrs. came over & threw her arms around him! :) I don't know whether or not he knew her. He knew some of the fans and not others. At any rate, he scooped the little girl up onto his left leg. Then immediately here came a little boy about same age as the girl, & Casey scooped him onto his right leg.

Toward the end of the hour, the anchor had a few questions people had submitted. One question was will he live in Los Angeles or Texas? He promptly replied, I will live in Texas. (We'll see how long he can live at home, though, if recording and all go well for him in Nashville or somewhere else. I think when it does, it becomes difficult to impossible for an artist to live far away from the business and commute.)

I received this narrative from another friend via email a few minutes ago. I didn’t hear all of the interview so this helped. Hope it does for you too.

Yes we are! Glad you noticed. I have been down with bad sinus and allergies and this has been a nice way to spend my time. CASEY is such a gentleman and I just like everything about him I have seen thus far. It is nice to see one humble for a change. Only once before have I been this high for a contestant and I swore I wouldn’t do that again. And then my Sis called and told me to catch CASEY. AND, she had NEVER watched AI before. She votes two hours every week and so does her daughter. I can’t hardly believe it as she would never have been the type to so do. :) So, thanks to Sis, here I am with this addiction again. :) One thing about it though, it will come to an end soon and life will return to normal. :) I hope life for CASEY is in Nashville recording great music for our listening pleasure. :)

I have always felt that Casey held back and I often thought Kara tried to get him to open his range. Perhaps with the not feeling well with tonsil problems (not good…I know from personal experience) he just couldn’t. I expect him to come back with re-newed vigor and let it rip.

I just read back and Judes actually has a brilliant idea. If the top 3 were allowed to stay in their hometowns and perform live in front of hometown crowds it would make for a very exciting show. The kids would thrive knowing they were in a supportive environment. The judges could do their critiques via live feed at the very end. They could fly them back to LA to announce the top 2 the following day. That would be so cool. I think it would allow people to see the “real” person and how they perform in the real world.

Come on Casey show American this side on Tuesday night. Go out and kick ass! You have nothing to lose!

Thanks, JW. I’d say Casey was my first choice when it comes to the guys, at least once it came down to the top 24 (before that I was still making up my mind). I like a wide variety of music and talent like Casey’s is hard to ignore, IMO. :)

Okay, I have just got to say, I have liked Casey from day one. After watching these videos I can only say I LOVE this man now! Holy Moly, why can’t he do this on the show!? I blame Kara!!(and the stupid themes) Oh my, when Casey feels he can be himself he just lets go and it is BEAUTIFUL!! Haven’t voted once this season but come Tuesday my fingers may be blistered and the and the word redial may be worn off the button by the time I am done!

I love that he can really play the guitar. I don’t mean serviceable. He can play! He sings pretty good, too. I know this isn’t musician Idol, but they canceled that band show that I floved, so I’m left with rooting for Casey for his musicianship and Crystal because she’s awesome. That’s all.

After looking at most of these videos, I think I have to say that Casey is the real deal that just snuck up on some of us. I know most of you guys/gals caught on to this long before I did.

After being subjected to some of the most uncalled for snarky comments from the judges this year, Casey just took it all in stride. He has too much class to talk back to the judges and lower himself to their level. I really resent the way the judges have treated Casey and are so dismissive of him. So I will be voting for Casey Tuesday night for the first time this year. I hope you will be voting for him too.

I don’t think it matters what any of them sing from here on out. The winner has been chosen. Whomever has the largest fanbase will
wear the crown. No one will be changing their mind at this stage of the competition. It is what it is.

These home visit videos have made me think that the tour might be pretty entertaining after all.

Judging by fan reaction to the 3 hometown performances here, Casey has nearly 4 times the posts of Lee, and roughly 8 times the posts for Crystal. I take this to be a possible trend.

The Ft. Worth videos show Casey in a different light to me, as an entertainer with much more depth than I saw on Idol. I was already leaning toward Casey ever since that fantastic performance a couple of weeks ago (Jealous guy), but these vids are the clincher.

I think Casey should dedicate his song to Kara and sing the Brad Paisley song where he says, “I’d like to check you for ticks.” lol.

I’ve just seen a couple of videos over on TopIdol of Casey singing. I’ve just never seen it with him on AI9 at all. He always seemed stiff, uninteresting as a singer, no feel for the lyrics and totally goaty.

BUT – off AI9 he seems to be a completely different performer: really into the music, feeling the lyrics, not stiff at all and even the goaty vibrato is nowhere near as prominent.

I actually am beginning to like him.

I only watched Casey, because I noticed some surprisingly positive comments, whilst looking for snark elsewhere! I’ll check out the Crystal and Lee threads too and see whether they too – or Lee at least, because Crystal is good anyway – have undergone amazing transformations outside of AI. Lee might even have sung in tune!

Ok. Since the number of postings were mentioned I decided to check for myself to see what was up. It does not appear to be even across the board at all IMO. I see multiple postings from users on those threads as well so what is the big deal? Take away the couple of hundred mentioned and there is still way more postings and enthusiasm for CASEY. That said, I am going to ignore this posting counting. Only mentioned as it has come up several times and decided to see for myself.

Someone said no minds would be changed at this point in the competition. I disagree as I see postings here where minds have changed just seeing the videos. JW, Lemme guess! You are a Casey fan???? :-) I will be curious to see what homecoming footage Idol uses, it can make or break someone. I think Casey’s star has been rising since Jealous Guy, and he could easily come in 1st or 2nd depending on the footage that is used. It would be good if he came in 2nd, for the type of music he excels at, but I feel the same way for Crystal. Third is not a good position, because the booted contestant does not get to do the talk show rounds, so misses some fan base development.

Wow! Love, love, all the videos! Casey is a great performer! I wonder if it is those stupid cameras on AI that mess with them. They probably tell them not to more around (like move their head a lot) so they can keep in focus. Obviously his performances here look so much more natural and maybe on the show he is thinking about not throwing his hair around and thus looks stiff. He certainly does not appear to be afraid to sing in front of a big audience.

Can’t wait for Tuesday!! I hope they sing 3 songs each. Hopefully they will end with the contestant’s song choice.

Yes, he is. I never bought him as the vacuous “pretty boy” Idol seems to need him to be. He has been seriously underestimated and could make the bloody tour worth seeing. The guitar mastery alone will ensure I buy a ticket.

I hope the judges come to their senses! I wouldn’t pay a nickel to see Crystal or Lee. CASEY is more versatile and talented IMO.

I am still sitting here in shock after viewing those videos especially the Key Lounge ones. OMG where has this charsmatic, sexy, out of this world vocalist and performer been? Damn those videos are all kinds of sultry and sexy! That guitar playing wow! I usually go for men piano players (Matt Giraud…whom I still adore) but damn feeling kind of shell shocked watching him play that guitar. And his vocals wow! Where did those notes come from and that absolutely breathtaking falsetto? Have always been a huge Casey fan but nothing like I am now!

I am really impressed with who Casey seems to be as a person. And those videos of him in his element are very impressive. This guy has a big career ahead of him. I will definitely see him when he comes to Chicago to play. I had no intention of going to the AI concert this year, but darn it, I may have to rethink that decision now.

A review of Casey at the Wildflowers festival

The pretty lawns of the Wildflower Fest in Galatyn Park were absolutely packed before James’ performance Friday night, with loyal fans already holding signs that said “Casey James is THE next American Idol.” We’ve got to give it to James; he earned himself at least a few more fans with his four-song performance. The Fort Worth native had incredible stage presence, truly acting like he was home performing for a few friends.

He started with a song he’d written recently, and we’re just waiting for it to blow up the Top 40 charts. Participants at the Wildflower Festival will be able to say “they heard it first.” Then a Fleetwood Mac cover brought the tone down as the largely teenage crowd (near the front, anyway) seemed to hang on his every word. He finished the night with a performance of “Heaven,” which he sang on an American Idol show. (You know the song: Baby you’re all that I want / When you’re lying here in my arms…) Cue swooning by women of all ages.

Got it MJ. I do not post to run numbers. Frankly, had never even thought about the number of posting for each idol until it was mentioned several times over and after the “ho” business, decided to check it out for myself as I was a little shocked to hear that as it was new for me.

I thoroughly enjoy reading all the comments and seeing the videos pertaining to the homecoming of Casey and drifts do occur…but, I never considered this a Casey fan site…just a thread about his homecoming. I am a big Casey fan and TRY not to be overly defensive or rude…as this is just a thread and at the end of the day it does not effect me one way or the other. All comments either pro or con are interesting to read and if I have been egregious, it was quite unintended. :) I enjoy play on words and snark and for me it is not serious..but fun. :)

I haven’t limited myself to just this thread either as I do enjoy the discussion about the song choices and others opinions. For the most part, I find the posters to be very civil and respectful.

Don’t have a number yet but I read there were 30K in Richardson alone last night. :) I think Lee made an appearance at a race or something didn’t he? That could account for the large number. Dallas/FtWorth is pretty big area too. Additionally, there was bad weather there yesterday with rain, thunderstorms, lightening and wind which surely had an effect. But from what I hear from the folks back home, he had great turnouts and sounded incredible! CASEY!

Well, the comparison of fans showing up in a particular home town doesn’t really mean a lot in the whole scheme of things IMO. One from a smaller city is at a disadvantage using that measurement. What counts is who votes!!!!!!!! I was so pleased to see CASEY do so well in the homecoming videos and am psyched even more IF that is possible. I am convinced he is the best package of the three even more! CASEY.

I went back and re-read a review of CASEY’s performance last evening. This article didn’t give the number there but I will see if I can find where I saw the 30K. Anyway, for your reading pleasure:

Omigoodness, I can barely breath. I just listened to Drowning on Dry Land and I can’t even find the words to express what that song just did to me. Sexy and Sizzlin’! This is the Stevei Ray Vaughn sound, only better. Watching Casey’s head thrown back enjoying the delicious sounds of his blues guitar was blissful.

Silly to make a major talent like Casey sing ancient Sinatra songs. What a waste. I wish the general public could see him perform Drowning on Dry Land. His voice was incredible. Kinda reminded me of BB King.

He is a natural and his Mom looked quite comfortable singing with him. His brother plays bass and played with him at the Keys I think it was. I love the homecoming and glad folks are getting to see who he really is and what he can do outside of AI and the confines. Apparently he is feeling better and over the sinus/tonsil thingy. MJ, that Casey fansite has a link to his mom Bybee’s album on iTunes. I won’t post the link here because I don’t want you to lose any sales, but Casey plays on most of the album, and the last number is an acappella track of just him and his mom singing the old spiritual “Talk About Suffering.” It’s really lovely.

This guy (and his mama) are the real deal. If they’re not authentic country, then I don’t know who is. From Bybee’s MySpace page:

You did an amazing job MJ with all the footage of the top 3. I am finally caught up, lol. Casey sounds so much better back home in Texas. His duet with his mom was great. The hospital visit really got to me. He will do really well in country music. I would love him to make the top 2 but whatever happens he will be fine. The home visits really are the best.

I just read over at People Magazine that Casey was the only one of the top 3 to have 2 days of appearances. I hope he hasn’t worked so hard that he will have voice fatigue on Tuesday.

I just finihed watching the video of “Blue Skies” and I felt like I was watching a true star. I felt like I was watching a seasoned star having a moment on stage with his fans. And he was so gracious. If he can bring THAT to the Idol stage on Tuesday, he is going to be the dark horse that no one saw coming. Very impressive!

I have a bunch of pix that my Sis took yesterday in Millsap as they went down. I also have personal pix of Casey with friends but don’t know how to download them here for you to see and would have to ask first on the personal ones (they know Casey and went to see him personally yesterday). Sis sent me about 30 pix last night and one of them is a horse with Simon on his rear shank! :) Awesome pix and his Mother is in a black dressing at the mic singing. There were over 30K in Richardson and in Millsap which is very small, cars lined as far as one could see. Bring it on home CASEY. People are beginning to see the real you sans the pimping of others and the control of AI.

BTW. There is one thing I want to clear up that I had posted previously regarding AI winners from the South and it had to do with my thinking perhaps D Cook was from the South but not sure. This guy can really play that guitar, and you can tell he loves music. He is low key and always makes it work. He puts a lot of heart into whatever he is singing, and allows the music to speak for itself. Like him a lot. Hope he wins.

Casey impressed me sooo much in these videos. The man can sing and that guitar is like an extension of him, he was even playing with one hand in some of those Keys Lounge vids, amazing!

Raye, I agree that he’s a low-key guy who definitely brought the cool from Cool.

That’s why I think my most shocked moment in all of the hometown videos for all three Idols, was when he first walked out on the stage and greeted the crowd like he’d been doing that all his life. I wish everyone who complains about how “stiff” he is could see that clip. It’s like a completely different person. They’ve definitely got him in a tight little box on the show. I guess it’s a good thing he’s low-key–I’d be losing my mind if I were in his shoes.

(And speaking of “out of the Idol box”…I’m still trying to recover from “Drowning on Dry Land.” Not sure I ever will….)

think Casey has gained numerous fans this week and hoping he gets to the finale thinking he could win it all.

I have thought from the beginning that this is too close to call irregardless of the judges pimping. Just watching measuring tools, this has not been a run-a-way at all for any one. I believe it becomes a lot new ball game with the top three and folks who just tune in will make their decisions based on performance. Casey has as good a shot at this crown as the other two do. Don’t believe all that is written by critics who have their own bias or buy into the judges hype. KRIS ALLEN is living proof and so is Taylor Hicks that voters to their own thing. CASEY… Blue Tuesday.

Whew, “Kings Highway” is fabulous. It’s like there are two Caseys. The one whose song choices I am often disappointed with (except Heaven and Jealous Guy) on AI and the blues master rockin’ the crowds at home in Texas.

On AI, does every week box the talent in with a theme? Was there any point besides the audition where Casey could have done a Drowning on Dry Land or a Kings Highway? This guy is an incredible musician. He’ll draw humungous crowds with his live performances if he can stay away from the AI song cheese, as well as choices that don’t fit him. Does an American Idol have to be able to sing country, crooner, rock, oldies, pop, etc., like each is their own genre?

BTW, thank you MJ for allowing us to have a Casey thread here on your amazing site. It’s really exciting and it’s drawing me back to your site multiple times per day (good for your advertisers :-)

I believe this is the link where his Mom is interview after he is in the limo and gone. Near the end of the video. She said he was a winner before he went regardless of what happens with Idol. And if memory serves, she is holding the yellow roses or flowers that was given to him by a fan on the way in. :) CASEY

Yeah Buddy, he can count on it. And, I asked an older guy at church this morning (as I know he watches AI)if he was going to vote for Casey. He told me his only complaint with Casey is his hair is too long. :) I told him I would send him an audio clip of Casey and his Mom singing and then would ask him if the hair made any difference. Answer after hearing clip “NO.” He is going to vote for Casey. He has been with FCA for 38 years and this recording told him a lot about CASEY.

Casey is versatile so if one wants a change from the blues, one gets it with him. :) I like a variety of music too and one of the appealing things with Casey is the ability to “change it up”. CASEY

On one of the pix I got from Tex yesterday (Millsap) there are several horses and on the butt of one is printed “Hi Simon”. Great place to put it. I hope they show it in the homecoming video. :)

There is also a Fleetwood Mac performance from the Wildflower Festival. It’s not the best quality (but not bad) and the end of the song is cut off but I made a copy anyway. I’ll keep looking for a better copy. This one will also have to be converted to itunes as well as the Heaven MP3 I posted from the Stockyard.

Love all these videos & interviews – I’ve learned so much more about Casey & he has such an easy charm in the interviews!! He built his own house even with all his injuries- he really is a perservering sort of guy!!

I have thought the same about a name for Casey or a mantra. Taylor had Soul Patrol and we have Cookie and Archie. Hmmmmm….will think about this. I kind of like CASEY BLUE since he told all to wear blue on Tuesday.

He is soooo relaxed, into it, and at home. THIS is what we want to see him do Tuesday night!

Stevie put Antone’s in Austin on the map in the ’70s. Casey put the Keys Lounge in Fort Worth on the map in 2010! The Keys people have stood with him a long time, and he never will forget them and the chance they gave him to grow there.

The nickname definitely needs to have the word blue in it. Or Cool Hand Casey, because of his guitar skills. Man, I am bad at this! Lol! I don’t think it should at all be close to Soul Patrol, because that’s been done.

Now that would be a good sign – Casey James is Smokin’ Hot and Rockin’ the Blues!

OOPS – And Rockin’ the Blues Y’All! Because he likes to say it and hear it! I laughed when he said last Wednesday he was looking foreward to going home because it would be nice to hear Y’All again! I also admired his honesty when he said that he thought Ryan was going to send him home. Not too many contestants would admit that out loud and I liked that a alot.

Because of the conversation about an interview with Casey’s mom (btw, I couldn’t find it with the link provided), I discovered this really nice long article about Casey where his mom talks a lot about him. It’s an old article from February, but I’ve never seen it before.

Here’s just a small part of it:

“It was bittersweet for me because it was the last time I’d play with him — he’s out of my league,” Debra James said. “But that’s a good thing. I’ve been in the music circles in this area a while and I’ve seen so many musicians [try to make it]. I wanted more for my son and unless you have a ton of money, it’s impossible to get a break. So, I really wanted more for him than to just play locally,” she said of encouraging him try out for “American Idol.”

She suggested it, “But he said he’s not into top 40 tunes, he listens to what is good. I kept bugging him. He missed the Dallas audition and we have family in Denver. He said he didn’t think his car could take him, so I handed him the keys to my truck. I just wanted someone to see him.

“I told him, ‘You have everything to gain and nothing to lose.’ So he went up to Denver and the rest is history. It is an amazing thing. I knew in my heart he was supposed to go.”

Debra said she’s not shocked he made it this far, but called the moment and his appearance on TV “very surreal” and “very humbling.”

LOL UMMMM definitely something like that! Seriously if he would have been performing like that all season we wouldn’t have to worry about whether or not he’d make it in the finale because he would win hands down. Damn that was hot and his vocals were so bluesy, sultry, and sexy. I really cannot wait for Idol to be over and his career to begin.

Oh and I always thought Casey was extremely good looking but I never saw sex appeal until I watched these homecoming videos. And where have these vocals come from? Not only is he an incredibly talented guitarist but his vocals are amazing too! For me along with Matt Casey is the best musician American Idol has ever had.

I just got back to Florida today – the Homecoming was the best time I have had in a long time! Hearing Casey live at Key’s in that small setting was amazing. I haven’t had a chance to go through all the videos yet – been trying to upload pictures and get my article written.
But the duet with Mamma James woah, he can sing some Gospel music! His falsetto is pretty! I hope he gets to show it on Idol. I am praying Dark Horse Casey James comes from behind to take one of those top spots!

I’m 20 years older than Casey and decidedly maternal toward all the Idols. I think that’s part of the reason why watching his performance at Keys was such a shock. Dear me, he’s quite the grown-up, isn’t he?

I wouldn’t worry too much about Ryan’s opinion 3DDF. I think Casey has a wide range of fans and I am not going to assume that Casey is going to have an off night! The knife cuts both ways here and Ryan is entitled to his opinion…BUT, I disagree with him as do many. I don’t believe his opinion will weaken the fan base for CASEY at all. If anything, it will give all more motivation. Whatever happens, CASEY will be fine and make a great living for himself doing what he loves. I really wish that judges and Ryan were not allowed to say things like this. But, people do have a tendency to root for the underdog.

Also, 3DDF, as I am checking other blog sites, I am seeing a LOT of positive comments for Casey. I will not get into the numbers posting thing. But, this homecoming has enhanced his support IMO from what I see being written.

Also, 3DDF. What happens when CASEY kills it Tuesday night? :) What does this mean? Hmmmm…could it mean he will be there singing next week? I wouldn’t for a minute under estimate Casey’s fans. I wish the reporter had asked that question of Ryan and followed up with what happens if the out of tune guy and Crystal have an off night. This will not be the first time that the judges and/or Ryan have been wrong. Don’t let them get you down.

I also will note that Ryan said it will be an INTERESTING night. I totally agree with him on that and if the CASEY we have seen on homecoming performs as such on that AI stage, it will really be INTERESTING. I see MORE girls voting for him! :) So, while Ryan may have a personal opinion as to who has the best voice, he doesn’t know how any of them will perform and THAT is the bottom line for casual viewers who do not have the bias that we all have or that the judges and/or Ryan have. I actually do not think that the performance of any of them will change any of the votes of the fan bases!

I think that hometown visit was enough to boost Casey into thinking he can make the finale…. Shania said it looked like he didnt have confidence in himself, and he came out with one of his best performances. I think spending time at home will help carry over that confidence.
If Lee sings his normal out of tune ways, I can see Casey picking up a lot of the casual voters. He has got to pick a good song for his choice and that will get the ball in motion…

Thank you to everyone who posted videos/links to all of Casey’s homecoming stuff (and to MJ for organizing it all). It kept me entertained all weekend and I’m an even bigger Casey fan now because of it! I’m also a HUGE Seacrest fan, but when I read his OK Mag comments last night, I was mad. Not about his opinion – he’s entitled like the rest of us are – but about his assumption that people only vote for Casey because he’s cute. That’s insulting to the fans as well as to Casey. As these Homecoming videos prove, Casey has A LOT going for him, and his attractiveness is just one part of that. Ryan should know better than to make such close-minded comments. He’s usually more savvy than that. Hopefully Casey will show some of his homecoming swagger on Tuesday and prove Ryan wrong!

CASEY is the man! The judges can’t stop him and neither can Ryan. If that were the case, why is he still here? Bottom line is he has overcome great odds in his life and he is on the road now. :) No matter what happens, he is going to be comfortable. If this whole thing is rigged to begin with, TPTB will throw in a surprise at the last moment anyway. Just enjoy CASEY and his music and send good vibes. :)

I wish Adam Lambert could pick a song for each of them to sing and then mentor them.

I do a right click on the video, and it doesn’t say save. Don’t know how else to do it.

That’s how people watch their favorite You Tube videos. They go back to the specific You Tube address again and again. You can’t download them or save them by right-clicking.

I have finally gotten through all the idols home town visits.
Now, I would like to say that I have never changed my mind about
who is my favorite contestant at the 11th hour! I have been watching them all season, and, surely, we see their ups and downs,
including misses, and spot on performances, as well as their stage
presence and comfort and use of the stage, and last but not least,
their connection with their audiences. I would have voted for Crystle based, primarily on her strong effortless voice. Strangely,I was not moved by her presence in her hometown visit. She does not come across well during interviews IMO. Her charisma just fell away for me during interviews altogether. She still sings beautifully.

Lee was sweet and just soppy but he just couldn’t rise to the occasion for me and yes he sings pretty well and he was just so,so
grateful.

“COOL CASEY J” , just blew me out the water!!!! While,I knew he looked
lovely I did not think his talent was large. I just feel like I’ve
had a hugh serving of humble pie!!
Seeing Casey on the stage where he felt completely at home he was
a completely new Revelation, His awkwardness was gone. He talked
so comfortably, and intimately to his audience, and reveled in his
love for them. He SANG and WOW DID HE EVER. He hit notes I didn’t
think he did on Idol. He had MEGA CHARISMA. He was in his element
and this makes me think the structure of the corporate box of
Idol diminished him severely to the point of being somewhat muzzeled! What a diservice Idol does to some of these singers who
are not allowed to shine in their own way by rediculous critques
that border on the bizare and are as confusing to them as they are to us watchers.
Some of his more delicious or moving moments were his hospital visit to thank the DR and the Nurses who safely brought him backfrom his horrific motorcyle accident, His moment hugging a
child, his interview where he said he had been busy building his
house!, trying to find his plug for his guitar, and every time he
told his audience how much he loved them, to his voice soaring to
places and falsetos I did not hear him do before! The very best was the duet with his mother, and the obvious love they have for each
the other!

I HAVE A NEW FAVORITE!!

I don’t care if he does not come first, as I have no doubt this guy
is a winner, and is going to make some lucky LABLE a shitload of
Moola, and that he will be a star, if that is what he chooses to be.
This is a humble and beautiful soul and he has a very appealing
quiet confidence. COOL, “COOL” CASEY J!!!

Awesome comments. WELCOME to the CASEY crew. This Casey needs to be on the stage tonight and he will bring it on home. I have been a fan from the beginning and only for CASEY and the more I see of him, the more I love his style. He is the total package. VOTE!

Good Luck to the King of Cool tonight! TPTB better do his homecoming package justice and show all those wonderful moments mentioned above by justjude!

I have to wonder. On the Wendy Williams show yesterday and on several sites, Casey James was reported to have chosen Pride and Joy by Stevie Ray Vaughn and had been practicing it for five days when he was told he couldn’t sing it and had to choose something new.

Sabotage? It has even been reported that he sang “Pride and Joy” at the rehearsal and brought the house down. Anything to keep TCO’s finale????

I have not had a chance to go through all the videos yet – tried to upload pictures and I have written. Article I really wish that the judges and Ryan do not say things like this. But people usually do not top-level for the weakest.
