Casey Abrams to Sing with Jack Black on Idol Finale Says Ellen Degeneres

WHOOOOOOOOO! Just finished watching Ellen. Yes, Casey’s reaction was awesome. I was caught off guard, too, but that is great. Would have preferred Esperanza Spalding, but I know Casey is a Jack Black fan, so he is going to have such fun on finale night. Good on you Casey, and your Harder To Breath performance was great. Can’t wait for this show to wrap up so we can see the whole cast again.

I have to agree.

I’m honestly expecting snarly-face “rock” Abrams doing some ridiculous Tenacious D song with him. For the record, I watched the Tenacious D movie and laughed three times. But it was not great music; it was a comedy routine with guitars.

Casey is not mainstream, we knew that. I personally don’t see a problem with the Jack Black collab.

This is really perfect for Casey. I see his future as being in the Tenacious D/Flight of the Conchords vein (i.e., musical comedy) moreso than as The One To Bring Jazz To The Masses. As if. If Esperanza Spaulding can’t do that, Casey Abrams sure as hell is not going to.

That being said, he’s a fantastic musican. Loved his guitar playing here. (And love that he name-dropped Casey J and Crystal.)

I’m happy for Casey.

I totally LOL’d at this vid but I gotta agree. I enjoyed the acoustic version of this performance until Casey started growling a bit too much and then it kind of got a little trainwreckish as the performance went on. I wish him luck though.

Jack Black is AWESOME! He’s not just a funny man…if you watch him as Tenacious D he has legit musical/singing skills! Perfect for Casey because lets be honest…a lot of Casey’s “act” is faces and persona etc. That’s the better part in my opinion as his singing is sub par. Love it!

I like Jack Black, and think that he’s a great comic actor and entertaining in his TV appearances. Pairing Casey with him emphasizes the clown aspect of Casey’s schtick, which was evident on Ellen today.

I was shocked the first time I saw Jack Black sing. I thought he was just a comic actor, but he is a really talented singer/performer. I bet Casey and Black’s performance will be the most entertaining performance on results night.

Casey is so loveable. Thank goodness Haley had two killer performances last night, cuz I’m really missing Casey on the show.

I know Jack Black isn’t for everybody (LOVED him “School of Rock,” LOATHED him in “King Kong”), but I think he’s unquestionably very talented.

Bonus for Casey: Jack’s father-in-law is Charlie Haden, the renowned jazz bassist. I’m sure Casey would LOVE to meet Charlie.

I just love Casey and really enjoyed his appearance on Ellen. I think that kid has so much talent–I could def see him acting in movies along with doing his music career. He just seems to meant for a life in show biz

and i think CaseyJ would appreciate that particular shout-out because it seemed even at the end of the season, he wasn’t sure the whole show was a good fit for him and to have someone as instrumentally talented as Casey A be inspired by him should make him feel pretty good.

Because the top 12 always come back and sing in the finale! And most often they’re paired with a famous performer.

That was fun. Very cool that they had Ellen tell him he was going to be paired with Jack Black. He name checked him when Rob Reiner was on as a mentor.

I really enjoy Casey and think he’s a fabulous musician. I like his singing also, just not the grunts.

I do think that Casey can bring jazz to the masses by combining music and comedy. I have a feeling he is going to surprise a lot of people.

I flove Casey so much it is ridiculous. I can’t wait for his duet with Jack Black who I also love. :) They are both such fun guys with great sense of humor. I also think Jack Black is an awesome musician and singer. I missed Casey so much on idol last night.

I love how much warmth and openness Casey has. He loves connecting – through music and through hugging, snuggling. Can’t beat that!
