American Idols Season 10 alum, Casey Abrams has signed a record deal with Concord Music Group. Check out his super-secret Facebook announcement HERE. (It’s cute as hell).

There appears to be a press release where Casey talks about his love of artists such as Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra and Oscar Peterson

UPDATE: Press Release at the bottom of the page.

Looking over the label’s website, it appears to be an independent label that specializes in jazz, folk and roots music.  It looks like a really good fit for Casey. I expect he’ll be making the kind of music he wants to make–very heavily jazz influenced.

Casey joins Pia Toscano, Haley Reinhart, James Durbin, Lauren Alaina and Scotty McCreery as Season 10 alumni with record deals. Oh, Stefano Langone has one too, reportedly, but it has not been officially announced.

Although Casey isn’t signed to Idol recording partners,  UMG, he’s still co-managed by 19 Entertainment and Redlight.

CASEY ABRAMS SIGNS WITH CONCORD MUSIC GROUP

Debut Album From the American Idol Finalist
Due Early Summer 2012

Casey Abrams, the rising, multi-talented singer/songwriter who wowed millions on the most recent edition of American Idol has signed a worldwide recording agreement with Concord Music Group. His debut album will be released in early summer 2012.

Abrams was a standout contestant this year as an American Idol season 10 finalist thanks to his distinctively original voice and dazzling musical ability. Indeed, the 20-year-old who counts Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra, Oscar Peterson and James Taylor among his musical heroes can play a staggering 11 musical instruments by ear.

“Casey Abrams’ talent is deep and untapped,”  said Concord Music Group chief creative officer John Burk. “We’re excited to work with Casey and 19 Entertainment on fulfilling his great promise.”

Born in Austin, Texas, Casey Abrams spent his early years in the Chicago area then later moved to California to attend Idyllwild Arts Academy where his father teaches film production. A promising, gifted musician, Abrams assiduously studied classical bass, piano, improvisation, music history and participated in numerous jazz ensembles. After graduating from Idyllwild he studied music at the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Since the completion of American Idol, the in demand Abrams joined the American Idol Live! Tour, signed with 19 Entertainment, collaborated with fellow Idol alum Haley Reinhart on the holiday classic, “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” (A Top 10 iTunes video and Holiday chart debut!) and begun writing songs for his new album.

Iain Pirie, President, 19 Entertainment adds, “We are delighted to be working alongside Concord Records with our management partners at Red Light on Casey’s debut album.”

So, so far, there’s country, rock, pop, jazz, from S10 idols. Now, we still need Jacob Lusk and gospel.

Paul released a single a couple of months ago and his twitter posts talk about his new music.  He said the first album would be as a solo and then, I think, he said he was looking forward to getting back to touring with his band. Good guess would be that he’ll produce as an independent so he can have complete control of the product.

So, it really does mean only 3 of the 11 are not “signed”.  Thia has been appearing here and there so obviously has an interest in continuing her career. Naima seems like someone who is going to be happy staying close to home.  Jacob?  Who knows?

Naima tweeted she has a single and album coming out this year as well. Jacob has tweeted he is working on stuff as well. Will be interesting to see how this all rolls out.

Woohoo! I am so happy he now has the opportunity to continue to showcase his talents.

Gawd, I love Casey…who else can entertain us with a short diddy about getting signed. I can’t wait to hear (and see?) more!

I wish him all the best and hope he gets to put out the jazzy kind of music he loves best. Not sure (yet), if I will buy, but I definitely will check it out.

Happy for Casey. But when are we getting albums from Casey James and Paul McDonald?

    Congrats Casey!

Not a Jazz fan; but I like Matt Giraud’s music so I am willing to listen to Casey’s stuff.  He is a pretty entertaining guy too; humor attracts me in entertainers more than looks!
