Carrie Underwood’s next album is due to drop November 3.

Carrie’s BMI page has a few new songs listed (eta: actually, more than a few songs, I’m hearing now). These are songs that could possibly appear on the new album– “Lie To Me Again”, “Lord Help Me”, “My Favorite Part”, “Sugarush” (more here). Also, word is, she’s been writing with Katrina Elam and Ashley Monroe.

Here’s the press release peeps:

Nashville, TN ‘“ Four-time GRAMMY winner Carrie Underwood has sold more than 10 million albums with her first two records, and the excitement is high for more great music with news that November 3 will be the release date for her yet-to-be-titled third album.

Released on 19 Recordings/Arista Nashville, Carrie’s upcoming album will continue her amazing collaboration with producer Mark Bright, who helmed 2007′s hit-filled Carnival Ride, as well as seven tracks from Carrie’s blockbuster debut, Some Hearts.

Earlier this year, Underwood became the first country artist in history to achieve 10 #1 singles from their first two albums when ‘I Told You So’ became the fifth consecutive chart-topper from Carnival Ride, which also included the smash, ‘Just a Dream,’ and three hits Carrie co-wrote: ‘All-American Girl,’ ‘So Small,’ and ‘Last Name.’

The reigning ACM Entertainer of the Year and three-time, reigning ACM and CMA Female Vocalist is currently in the process of recording her new project, with a new single expected to arrive at radio late this summer.

The only American Idol winner ever to achieve 10 #1 hits, Underwood’s collection of chart-toppers began with the instant success of her post-American Idol single, ‘Inside Your Heaven,’ which debuted atop Billboard’s Hot 100 chart in the summer of 2005. It was the first of five #1s to top the BDS or Mediabase charts from her 7x-Platinum debut, Some Hearts, with the others including the GRAMMY-winning ‘Jesus, Take the Wheel’ and ‘Before He Cheats,’ as well as ‘Don’t Forget to Remember Me’ and ‘Wasted.’

Yeah Carrie new album is coming out. I can not wait.

  • julesb2183

    Soooo excited – Can’t wait.

  • lavender1960

Same time as the Season 8 winner and runner up, interesting timing.

  • lizzy12345

I love Carrie and can’t wait for her new album. Isn’t Mark Bright the producer/CEO of Word Entertainment that Danny met with last week to talk about a record deal. I would love for him to produce Danny’s first album.

  • dhunken

About time Carrie. I have played out you other two albums. Wow going to have to save up money for November. Carrie, Adam, Allison, Kris all with albums coming out. Christmas around the corner. OMG I need to win the lotto. :wub_tb:

  • PattyH

Just in time for a gazillion appearances on the new Idol season!

  • windmills

Thanks MJ. BTW I’ll edit another comment into this later but you probably wanna fix the typo in the title on “release” ;)

  • wolfsbane813

Same time as the Season 8 winner and runner up, interesting timing.

yeah but they are all going after different markets/audiences, so they shouldn’t really conflict with each others’ sales.

all i know is i want it to be november 3 already.

  • jack5791

Carrie is sure to be back 20 times next Idol season, haha. But that’s okay, can’t get enough of Carrie! Looking forward to this.

  • CRB

Let’s hope this one is better than Carnival Ride. I thought songs like Last Name were a move in the wrong direction for Carrie.

I have to wonder if all those Carrie Underwood writing credits are just her having enough clout now to strong arm her way into the monies from songwriting.

    :wub_tb: Love Carrie.

“I have to wonder if all those Carrie Underwood writing credits are just her having enough clout now to strong arm her way into the monies from songwriting.”

Carrie cowrote at least 20 songs for Carnival Ride too and only 4 made it onto that album (3 were singles and hit #1 on country radio, and she won a Grammy for her vocal performance on 1 of them, Last Name). She’s said over and over again that she’s not someone who needs to write every song and that writing has been a learning process for her. Like most artists Carrie’s income comes mainly from touring (Carrie’s 2008 tour grossed $33 million according to Pollstar) and endorsements so to be honest I don’t think she’s strongarming her way into anything for money. She’s already been showered with awards and an Opry membership so it’s not like she needs the cred either (besides that some of country’s most acclaimed like George Strait, Martina McBride, and Reba McEntire don’t write much if any of their material).

Carrie has said she thinks she’ll have more cowrites on this album but I think it’s just part of her incremental growth as an artist. In her interviews and blogs she’s always emphasized how amazing the writers she gets to work with are. I really don’t see Carrie suddenly trying to be considered a songwriter. She’s a singer first and foremost and she seems to realize that.

MJ: I’m sorry, my edit window on the previous comment about the title has expired. Feel free to delete that one if you want :)

Well November is looking to get pretty crowded with Idol releases. With Adam, Allison and Kris all aiming for November releases as well. Since Carrie has the first week, maybe the other 3 can take up the rest of pre-Thanksgiving weeks in November.

  • kimberann

I like Carrie and hope that album #3 has better material than Carnival Ride. I only liked 2 songs on it.

  • amiroamor

Yeay Carrie! About bloody time! LOL

Thanks so much for the find, AndyR! Since it’s the Wrensong page, I assume that’s Jon Randall, one of the co-writers, singing it. I transcribed the lyrics:

Oklahoma Wind (Bill Anderson, Jon Randall, Carrie Underwood)

I lean upon a fencepost and watch that cloud of dust
Billow through the wheat fields behind his old blue truck
I stood there for hours and I watched that windmill spin
While all my dreams were scattered by the Oklahoma wind

I shook off the cold and crawled back into bed
I could smell his cologne on a pillow by my head
Outside I saw a robin on an ancient oak tree limb
But her song was stolen by the Oklahoma wind

    Chorus:
I guess I should have seen it coming
And heard the thunder in the clouds
I tried to make him change direction
But I couldn’t tie him down
Every time I think he’s here to stay
    he blows away again
It’s like stopping the rain, trying to tame the Oklahoma wind

Someday the dust will settle but I can’t wait that long
I need to find a quiet place and shelter from the storm
I know it won’t be long before he comes rolling in
But I’ll be gone, moving on like the Oklahoma wind

    (Chorus)

Every time I think he’s here to stay
    he blows away again
It’s like stopping the rain or trying to tame the Oklahoma wind
I can’t stop the rain and I can’t tame the Oklahoma wind.

What a beautiful song! I really hope this is included in the album. Plus, Bill Anderson is a living legend in country. It must have been such an honor for Carrie to write with him.

Wow! can’t wait to hear Oklahoma Wind – I am at work and Myspace is verboten at my work – so I will have to wait.
