If it is lip synced then why do a live sound check? From what I know of Carrie Underwood she will flat out refuse to lip sync. I don’t have a problem either way but she disdains it.

The biggest problem with singing live in a large bowl with so many people and all the hard surfaces and the gigornormous sound system is that a singer’s voice echoes back at them with a delay. It tends to interrupt the flow of the song and can cause some wicked feedback. I’m sure that these singers are pretty good at handling sound issues, but I would think for such a large TV and stadium audience that it may be best to lip sync. But then, Carrie does have the vocal talent and a really good “ear” so she may be able to carry singing live, under these conditions.

Eh I’ll believe that Carrie’s singing live at the Super Bowl if I see it and there might be a debate about that whether or not she does. Most if not all of the great singers who’ve done it would I’m sure prefer not to lip sync but if people like Jennifer Hudson have chosen to I’m sure it’s with good reason. AI tends to breed very bad lip syncers though for obvious reasons

Carrie sounds great in rehearsals. I hope she does great at the Super Bowl!

A friend of mine is a great Carrie fan and she heard that for the first time, NFL is giving permission for Carrie to sing without the backing track. Maybe Carrie find it harder to try to match her lips to the backing track than try to hit the high notes live.

We’ll see if she actually sing this live live.

It’s just amazing, makes me goosebumps. Glad she use full chest voice this time instead the head voice for that ‘ Freeeee’ part.
