With her mom and two sisters in the profession, teachers are near and dear to Carrie Underwood’s heart. The Season 4 Idol winner and country star was a natural to perform on the CBS special that aired tonight (Aug 17), Teachers Rock.

In this celebration of educators, Carrie reminisced with her mom about being a student in her class. Mrs Underwood (Or UnderWEIRD as some of the kids called her!) was tougher on Carrie than the other students, because she didn’t want them to feel she was favoring her daughter. Nevertheless, Carrie thanked mom for being such a great teacher and role model.

Carrie also performed “Nobody Ever Told You.” Neart the end, actress Jennifer Garner told the story of her favorite teacher, as did other celebrities throughout the hour long special.

Check out Carrie singing ” “Nobody Ever Told You” from her latest album, Blown Away.

Carrie sounded great; her message was even better!  These celebrities were honoring teachers and teachers important in their lives.  The message was basic – art, music, and physical education are important to the welfare and personal growth for our children!

Politicians who are using our children as escape goats while cutting taxes for a certain group of people should be ashamed of themselves.  Congratulations to CBS for scheduling this important (and entertaining) program!

Over the years here at MJ’s, there have been many teachers posting.  My hat off to all of you!

I’m sorry for sounding so political.  My daughter is a first grade teacher and “Teachers Rock” really hit home.

Carrie sounded great, but I sincerely hope that this song never gets picked as a single lol.
