Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher will reportedly tie the knot today at 5:30 pm at the Ritz-Carlton Lodge, Reynolds Plantation, in Greensboro, Georgia.

Last night, a rehearsal dinner was planned, topped off by a fireworks display.

Carrie and Mike have rented out the entire lodge for their 500K wedding.  Non-wedding guests were served with letters informing requiring them to leave the premises by noon on Friday. Carrie was supposed to arrive at the Ritz by helicopter on Friday.

Tents have gone up, and roadways and watersways will be blocked off to keep out the paparazzi.  Carrie reportedly has signed a photo deal with a  major weekly magazine.

The guest list includes Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Paula Abdul, Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kellie Pickler. Guests will be staying in rooms that range from $300-$1500 a night.  The happy couple will spend their first night together as husband and wife in the $4,000 5400 sq ft Presidential House.

I’ll update this post with more details when them become available.

UPDATE: David Cook has been spotted arriving in Georgia for Carrie’s wedding!

Second Update: The Ottawa Citizen is  LIVE BLOGGING the wedding from Greensboro HERE.

They report that the post-rehearsal dinner fireworks started at about 9:30 pm last night and could see the display from where they were stationed.

Also, Garth Brooks was spotted at a local grocery store.

Third Update:  According to the AJC, Kellie Pickler is scheduled to perform in North Dakota tonight. Also on the road and probably unable to attend: Brad Paisley, Keith Urban, Miranda Lambert and Rascal Flatts.

Fourth Update: The Ottawa Citizen live blog is confirming from several sources, including Mike’s people,  that Carrie and Mike are now married. Congratulations!:

Fifth Update: People magazine reports from the wedding:  Carrie and Mike tie the knot before 250 family and friends. Carrie wore a Chantilly lace dress created for her by Monique Lhuillier, who also designed the bridesmaids’ dresses.

“We could not feel more blessed to have found each other and to have shared this day with our friends and family that mean so much to us!” the newlyweds told People in a statement, signing their names “Mike & Carrie Fisher.”

    Congratulations Carrie!

    Many years of happiness.

  • Tess

Wow, you would think that Carrie and Mike were US royalty what with all the hoop-la about her wedding. And, in this day and age of economic toppsy turvyness you would think the couple would have a bit more restraint and not be so OTT. But then, hey, its Ken and Barbie in the flesh..and millions of little girls will lap this stuff up like crazy. (By the way, I hate BIG weddings in the first place..not just this one…)

  • Trina

Hey I’m not a little girl and I’m lapping this up! I adore this girl and I LOVE big weddings like this!

I said this yesterday, but 500,000 is actually relatively mild compared to the millions some other huge celebrity weddings have cost. Hell its rumored Prince Williams wedding will cost over a billion.

I’m so happy for her and Mike *sniff* I have a very good feeling about this marriage I mentioned at the end of the evening thread DC ws spotted arriving in Georgia yesterday so I’d say hes given to be there :)

  • jinxx315

Carrie just seems to have it all right now. An amazing career,a stellar tour, a totally hot husband, she is beautiful and can sing…wow…she got blessed lol. Way to go Carrie! And for those saying things are hard in these economic times and they should show restraint. GARBAGE. This is a wedding! Who doesn’t go over the top.

  • amiroamor

Who cares how much they spend for their wedding? They are millionaires and it’s a freaking wedding! Not birthday parties! LOL

And I don’t think 500k is that much considering the price of her engagement ring.

    Congrats Carrie & Mike!

  • Indigobunting

In the UK, their royalty is the royalty! But here in the US our royalty consists of entertainment celebrities! ;)

Does seem extravagant but a lot of people love to live vicariously, even in tough economic times.

I won’t be following the whole spectacle, but wish them the best.

  • tinawina

Heh. They probably spent half the 500K just on security. LOL

That’s actually not so much as far as celebrity weddings go. Good luck Carrie, and I hope you have a beautiful day!

  • LK10

It seems someone spotted Cook down there:

@ainow FYI David Cook will be at Carrie’s wedding, some fans spotted him at the hotel in Georgia!

Trina, I saw your mention on the Evening thread – that would be very cool, if David is able to be there, they are friends.

$500,000 really isn’t much by way of celebrity weddings, IMO – given the relative financial positions of the Bride and Groom, it could have been so much more. Any news I’ve caught here at mj’s reported Carrie as wishing for a small wedding – by that measure, it is…but in any case, it’s their wedding – so the size is NMB. I hope she is able to maintain the level of privacy she wanted – smart move to give an exclusive to one source, and I wish them both much happiness and fair weather – today and in the future.

Also. $500,000 disbursed around the local economy is nothing to sneeze at – so many locals, caterers, florists, transportation people, hotel staff, music providers, security people, an endless list of of persons needed to pull this off and create a beautiful occasion, and another endless list of peripherals will all benefit from the monies involved. Can’t see that as anything but good. IMO. Of Course.

  • bean99

It does seem extravagant but it’s their money and their wedding so have no trouble with it. It sounds like privacy is the big thing since they rented the whole lodge. I’m sure Carrie will be a beautiful bride so can’t wait to see pics. :)

  • ggdoorsfan

congrats to carrie and her hub on their special day! shoot, if any of us had it going on like her, who wouldn’t have the wedding of their dreams ;) weddings are days when our better selves, if we possess one, should be allowed to come out and play and frolic, so i wish them both nothing but the best as they forge ahead in their lives and careers.

  • leome

May them use their money the way they want, they sure have worked for it. And I hope they have a really happy and beautiful wedding with their friends.
I seriously can’t wait to see pics of Carrie. I’m sure she’ll look beautiful.

  • dhunken

I don’t think it sound extravagant at all. It with in their means and I think Carrie is from the old school that the idea is you get married once in a life time. This is her Cinderella wedding. It not going to break her bank so I think its fine. I also think she needs to do it if she wants any sort of privacy. oh and sooooooo this:

Also. $500,000 disbursed around the local economy is nothing to sneeze at – so many locals, caterers, florists, transportation people, hotel staff, music providers, security people, an endless list of of persons needed to pull this off and create a beautiful occasion, and another endless list of peripherals will all benefit from the monies involved. in this economy I am sure a lot of people in Georgia wish more people would have weddings of this caliber. I am sure extra people were hired. So I am happy for her and for the local economy. (oh and not just her wedding but all the fans that will be going to get a glimpse of Carrie if the can and the money they will spend at local restaurants and stores.

I am so thrilled that this day is here for Carrie. I have always wanted her to be able to settle down with the man she loves and get married and have her magic day but it always seemed that true love was always just outside her grasps. Then Mike came along and I noticed a glow about her. It was as if a light was lit inside her. She was even performing better by connecting more and allowing herself to be more vulnerable in her performances. She always was a fantastic Entertainer but I could see were people felt she came across as cold in her delivery. That has all gone now. Anyway I have always loved Carrie from day one. She is one of my all time favorite idols artist ever.

I am so happy David Cook is there too. I was thinking were is David C. I just couldn’t imagine her getting married and inviting The judges and Kellie and not David. He is like her Brother. It just wouldn’t make sense if he wasn’t invited.

Congratulations Carrie. May you and Mike be happy and healthy for the rest of your lives. I am glad she has found her prince. :-)

  • SashaB

Congrats to Carrie and Mike. She is going to be a gorgeous bride. Stunning. I’m glad that she and Mike planned the type of wedding they wanted.

Garth Brooks was spotted in town yesterday for the wedding, per the Ottawa citizen live blog. I assume Trisha Yearwood is with him then. Very cool!

Exactly LOL! 500K is such a small amount for celebs. It’s not like Carrie wants to make a big deal out of the wedding, but fact is she is a big celebrity. If she doesn’t hire more security and block-book the hotel etc, she’s going to have paparazzi sneaking in and robbing her of her privacy. Normal ppl like us don’t have that kind of problem hence 500K might seemed a lot for a wedding LOL.

  • Mtlfan

It’s much better to get this money back in the economy than staying idle in their bank accounts…

this said, CONGRATS to them!! :)

  • blmetsfan

Sounds amazing! Congrats to Carrie and Mike!!

  • CDCIdol

Simon has X-Factor auditions today in Manchester. I doubt he will be at the wedding.

  • wordnerdarchie

Yum, that pie that’s being talked about as possibly being served at the reception sounds delicious.

  • houstonrufus23

Congrats to Carrie and Mike! Haha! And great point above! If they’re spending that kind of money then the local economy is surely benefiting. I certainly don’t begrudge them having the wedding they want, particularly when they can afford it–as it it’s my business anyway. Congrats to the beautiful, happy couple!

  • Nina1

That’s actually not so much as far as celebrity weddings go.

Sad, but it probably costs them 500K just to maintain some semblance of privacy. Then there are the “business” invites. I think it is actually a choice of eloping and going for broke.

Live blogging someone’s wedding???? How rude.

I hope the couple has the day of their dreams.

  • tierbee

Aww, congrats to Carrie and Mike, I hope they have a wonderful day :) And I was hoping “Cookie” would get there!

  • TwigLA

Best wishes to Carrie and Mike. It’s their day and it’s their money. Let them enjoy it however they want.

I’ve been wondering if any former idols would be invited and figured we’d only learn after the fact given all the secrecy. Good to hear that David Cook and Kellie Pickler are there. It will be fun to see who else makes an appearance. It’s ALL about Carrie and Mike and that’s how it should be.

I agree on the money going into the local economy. That can only be seen as a good thing.

  • standtotheright

Heh. They probably spent half the 500K just on security. LOL

My understanding is that is pretty much true. Half the budget went to buying out the hotel so that they could have the wedding without being swarmed by the paps. Probably a good deal more went to hiring security staff.

And I don’t know about y’all, but I’ve never attended a wedding where the bride and groom covered all the guest accommodations for two nights. I imagine most wedding budgets would be a lot larger (or the invited parties would be a lot fewer in number) if that were the standard practice.

I really hope that they and all their guests have a fantastic day and that it is a great start to their life together.

  • ilovekrisallen39

Yeah am so excited for The happy couple.I hope you wedding is everything you hope it would be Carrie.

  • maturin

Aww, I’m happy for Carrie! She’s sure worked her small self as hard as could be to take that talent over years of touring and record=making and make her self a giant star, and I like her mix of tough and girlie–classic Southern girl made good! Then again I’m a mild fan of her music and find her charming.

If she throws herself a giant wedding–and her her family & friends–sounds like a heck of a good time. When other celebrities spend a lot of money on elaborate clothes, costumes, nightclubbing, party attending, etc I don’t spend a lot of time wondering why they aren’t spending their money on something “better.” I hope everyone who’s in love and has the dough would feel pretty good about shooting off some fireworks and going a little over the top on their shebang.

I just want her to pretend to forget Mike Fisher’s name during the vows, tho. PERFECT GAG!

  • http://idolthoughts.today.com/ foxydonna

I hope they’re able to pull this off with some degree of privacy. I’m sure she will be an absolutely beautiful bride! From what I’ve read, it appears ‘People’ has the exclusive for photos of the wedding, so there will be photos on that site, maybe even today.

  • hypertwink

Congratulations, Carrie & Mike. I hope you have a great wedding and an even better marriage.

When it was first reported who the guests were, iw as a bit disappointed that Cookie wasn’t there. But I’m happy that despite initial reports, he’s a guest, which reinforces the fact that he and Carrie are real friends, not just “business” buddies.

  • IndyMuse

Congrats to Carrie and Mike! Yes, I bet the locals aren’t complaining one bit as their pocketbooks swell. I’m so glad David Cook could be there for them. Heh. I wonder, when you have so many awesome singers together, if someone would use them to sing at their wedding?

  • Indigobunting

Very good point made here; I can only imagine the $$ that have gone toward security.

I really hope the papparazzi/media can be kept at bay and allow those two to enjoy their most important day.

  • girlygirl

Congrats to Carrie and Mike. Hope they’ll be very happy.

I hope they will be able to keep the paps at a decent distance away so the couple and their guests can enjoy the day in relative peace.

  • BootStar

It’s their money, they earned it, and I think it’s great that they’re spending so freely (which is not the same as excessively) to celebrate their special day, host their guests appropriately, and stimulate the economy down there. I’m sure the locals will overlook any inconveniences to have such a large infusion of cash come to town.

I live a few miles from Aronimink, and I can tell you, Tiger Woods and his entourage, whatever you think of him personally, was a BOON to local businesses — and a lot of them really needed it.

People who actually have a lot of money right now should spend it. People who don’t should put away their credit cards and stay out of debt.

Best wishes to Carrie! May she and her beloved bring each other much joy and happiness, comfort and companionship for many many years to come.

  • Laurie

I can’t wait to see her dress! She usually looks so stunning, so I bet it’s going to be especially beautiful! Congrats to her and Mike! I was hoping for a Cookie/Carrie union, but alas it was not meant to be!

ETA: The girl works hard for the money. She should have whatever type of wedding she dreams of having. I am very curious who they will have for entertainment! Of course, Garth, Faith, Tim, or David could grab the mic!

  • JudyOhio

Carrie has become such a big star that I often overlook threads on her. I guess I think, what’s to know, she’s made it to the top, and I just pass on news about her (it’s all the same, glowing, awards, rave reviews, etc., lol). HOWEVER, after peeking in on this wedding thread, I thought I’d go to youtube and look at when she was on idol and her progression to the present (overviewed it). In doing so, I rediscovered Ms. Underwood! She really IS all she’s cracked up to be! WHAT a CAREER! I believe I’ll be making some Carrie music purchases soon! lol.

Congrats to her and Mike. I bet she’s going to be a gorgeous bride. Looking forward to hearing about wedding day tidbits and to seeing lotsa pictures!

  • barnie

LOL I know what you mean. I’m guilty of that sometimes as well.

I was youtubing some of her performances earlier today too. So amazed at her career.

  • offside

I hope they have a great wedding. I’m glad Carrie’s friends from Idol were able to attend as well. I also happen to be a Mike Fisher fan, so I’m just thrilled for these two!

  • sylvanaire

I wonder how the couple came to decide on Georgia as the place to tie the knot? She’s from OK, he’s from Canada, GA seems a bit out of the way. Maybe the wedding planner knew this resort would be relatively easy to provide security for the wedding, idk. Doesn’t matter, just a point of curiosity. *smile*

I am looking forward to seeing pictures of Carrie in her dress, because I know it, and she, will be gorgeous! So pleased to hear David Cook got to go (although he’s doing a lot of gallivanting around for someone who’s supposed to be in the studio. *taps foot impatiently*)as they do seem to be such good friends.

Best wishes to the happy couple, may they take the joy from this day, and have it last their lifetimes.

  • http://stores.ebay.com/BookWomanBlues-Book-Nook Bobbi

None of the cost of their wedding came from my pocket, so as far as I’m concerned they can spend what they want. They’re entitled to whatever they want to do.

Best wishes to them for a long and happily married life. Very happy for them.

  • Laurie

Lol! Well I probably contributed a bit of my money to the wedding, because I bought a couple of her cd’s!

  • JosieX

Best wishes to Carrie and Mike, I hope they’re having a beautiful day and that they’ll be very happy together.

  • windmills

People article confirms today’s wedding with a statement from Carrie & Mike Fisher :)

Best wishes to Carrie & Mike for a life blessed with love, laughter, good health, and happiness. May they grow well together.

  • jammasta

Tee hee now she’s Carrie FIsher like that one actress lady.

    Congratulations to Carrie!

  • sunny2

Wow, you would think that Carrie and Mike were US royalty what with all the hoop-la about her wedding.

In Canada Canadian NHL players are pretty much royalty. If you notice most of the media reports are from Caadian sources.

Congrats to the happy couple. I wouldn’t worry about the cost of the wedding they’ll probably end up making money selling pictures to People magazine.

  • SybilTrelawney

Carrie Fisher! I just hope she didn’t wear her hair in two giant challah loaves on the sides of her head. :-)

  • marcia03

    Her husband is gorgeous.

  • sunny2

    Sybil, you cracked me up!!!

  • AIaddict

Congrats to Carrie and Mike! They make a great couple. Glad Cookie made it to the wedding.

  • FolkFan

    Heh, Sybil.

    Congratulations to the happy couple.

  • Ratna12

    Congratulations to Carrie and Mike.

I’ll be seeing Carrie on Oct 2, and I can’t wait. She works so hard and she absolutely deserves a wonderful wedding. She does not live extravagantly, and she surely can spend her money on her own wedding.

  • skylight1219

According to what I read, the Presidential House they will be staying in was built in 2001 for then president, George W. Bush. This may have something to do with why this place was chosen – it can be secured.

  • Truthiness

Well congrats to them. Like any couple getting married, I wish them well.

That being said, I so hate the picture at the top of this post. Second time it’s been used for a Carrie/Mike thread, and I am always just struck, and not in a good way, what a Barbie Carrie looks in the colour of pink, and with those ruffles, that hair and make-up and with her big white grin! which I know is sincere, and she seems like a nice person, and I love her continuing work to help animals, ASPCA and the like and being a vegetarian…so I know she isn’t like what that picture seems to present. Sorry, always negatively struck with this picture. Plus I get “It’s A Barbie World” stuck in my head when I see this picture, so yeah, problem.

Back to happy news, yay for Carrie! Hope her wedding went off with as little problems as possible and that they are happy in the lives together.

  • ohmyra

All I can say is congrats. Wish the best for them.

  • Laurie

Heh – when I looked at that photo, I thought what a lovely woman with a beautiful smile. He’s pretty easy on the eyes too! She is very feminine and sweet, and I guess it carries through in her choice of style sometimes. Now for some reason that girl from Dancing with the Stars, Julianne Hough? ALWAYS reminds me of Barbie! And of course her brother looks like Ken! lol!

But, congratulations to Carrie and I hope they have a wonderful life together too!

ETA: Oops-I don’t think I looked past their faces! On second glance that dress is very…..Pepto Pink!

  • larc

I wish them a long and happy marriage and hope they take their vows more seriously than many celebrity couples seem to do.
