The CMT Music Awards (country music’s equivalent to the MTV VMAs) announced their nominations this morning and Carrie Underwood leads all nominees with 5 nominations, while Kellie Pickler, Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina picked up 1 nomination apiece. Voice coach Blake Shelton picked up 3 nominations while Idol judge Steven Tyler picks up a nom for a performance with Carrie. Winners are determined by fan voting. Carrie has two nominations in the Video Of The Year category, as well as nominations for Female Video Of The Year, Collaborative Video Of The Year, and CMT Performance Of The Year. Kellie is nominated in the Female Video Of The Year category, and Scotty and Lauren are nominated in the Breakthrough Video Of The Year category.

Fans can vote online at CMT.com, and on their mobile device at CMT Mobile or the CMT Insider app available on iPhone, iPad and Android now through June 4 to determine the winners. The five finalists for VIDEO OF THE YEAR will be announced at the beginning of the live show and fans can then vote at CMT.com, CMT mobile, on the CMT Insider app and via text message throughout the live telecast (ET/CT only) to determine the night’s big winner.

The 2012 CMT MUSIC AWARDS mark the 11th anniversary of the awards show and will air LIVE from Nashville on Wednesday, June 6 on CMT and CMT.com.

    Wow, TS didnt dominate as usual?  Congrats to all our Idols.  I read that Danny Gokey and Mandisa performed on the Dove awards, which will be broadcast later on.  Idols everywhere :)

    Lauren and Scotty will probably split the Idol vote somehow which makes it harder for either to win, but I  do like the one vote per ip address.  Makes it more fair.

    Hunter Hayes is nominated in the same category as Scotty and Lauren. I am a fan of his and I don’t like all country music.  Hunter is going on tour with Carrie this year. He is Carrie’s opening act for her 2012 Blown Away tour.  I hope Skylar is on the list next year too.
