Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson Set to Perform Clive Davis’ Pre-Grammy Party

The ENTIRE Grammy Awards will be streaming online as well on the Grammy website starting at 4 pm EST/1 pm PST Sunday afternoon (it lasts 3 hours, presumably they get a dinner break), including all the awards not presented on the main show. Only about 10-15 awards can be presented on the CBS broadcast, since they have to make way for performers.

Yay this will be Jennifer’s 3rd time performing at this party. I really hope they decide to post videos this year cause I’m still upset over last year when we didn’t get to see Jennifer performing with Barry again. I can’t wait for the photo from the party.

But, this was my point last week. If Adam Lambert was not invited to present or to perform at the Grammys, then the Clive Davis party is a great opportunity for him to perform. I’m sickened by the fact that certain individuals or groups cannot seem to get over the entire AMA debacle! Unbelievable!

I’m thrilled to see him on Sunday as one of the E correspondents BUT I am not thrilled at all about his ‘temporary assignment’.

I thought he was going to be on Entertainment Tonight. That’s syndicated and will air stuff on Monday the day after the Grammys plus they’d put video online too at their website as early as Sunday.

I think Ryan usually does the red carpet for E! but I could be wrong about that.

I don’t think Adam wasn’t invited to present or perform at the Grammys because of the AMAs. I think he wasn’t invited because he’s really, really new and a Grammy spot is something he’ll have to work his way up to just like any newbie.

The Clive Davis party is a different animal. Clive usually picks the performers and there’s always one new artist Clive spotlights with a performance spot. That spot goes to somebody the label’s hyped about so it’s gone to people like Gavin Degraw, Maroon 5, Fantasia, Carrie, Leona Lewis, and Jennifer Hudson. It looks like this year that new artist is Ke$ha. I don’t think Adam didn’t get that spot because of the AMAs. I think he didn’t get that spot because Ke$ha’s more of an “it” artist.

Please no no no no Adam . He is gonna ruin the whole thing again. Can’t stand this douche.

Yeah I doubt Adam wasn’t not invited to the Pre-Grammy party anyway. Clive usually invites almost everyone. Adam could still go even though he is not performing. If there were disdain for Adam due to the AMAs he probably wouldnt have even been invited to the Grammys and let on the red carpet. just keeps getting better for the idol ladies – big congrats to jennifer and carrie for landing the clive davis grammy party invite… it’s a biggie, these two have definitely earned their spots on his list… the sistahs are doin’ it and workin’ it and i like to see them get their props from the industry, and their peers…. can’t wait to hear santana and rob thomas’s take on the cream classic ”sunshine of your love”… geez, this is one song they’d better bring their ”a” game to… before hearing one chord from carlos, or a note sung by rob, i got a feeling this one is gonna smash up the charts – good look to them in this endeavor as well…

it’s t a l e n t, and being in the right place at the right time… with lotsa breaks and luck thrown in for good measure… it just goes to show you that winning idol, or even placing in the top 3 or 4 really has no guarantee of success in the industry… i place a premium on people like her with a positive mindset, a willingness to put in the hard work in the business, a willingness to pay your dues, the ability to deal with the rejection, the slings and arrows that come your way, but keep plugging away until your breakthrough comes… i am shocked she gets no real major love from idol land, as what she has accomplished is remarkable, and jmo, should be better appreciated than it is… album sales aren’t the be all and end all barometer for measuring the elusive ”success”… hudson is in uber success land, if one wants to compare her accomplishments to other idol alums, but that’s not necessary… they speak very well, and loudly all on their own…

Well Jennifer album did sell well it did go Gold and as of now sold about 900k in the US with over a million sales worldwide and 2 top 5 R&B hits with Spotlight reaching the top 30 on the Hot 100. She’s been in 3 big hollywood movies that did very well and one she is going to be filming in May which she is in the lead role. She’s also working on her new album. Also being constantly asked to perform for the president. Jennifer has accomplished enough to be recognized as a big and rising star in the industry. She may not have the sales of Carrie or Kelly yet but will get there. Jennifer career is just getting started so it shouldn’t be weird for her to get praise and recognition. Talent speaks for itself. Jennifer’s success very well stands next to the successes of Kelly and Carrie. Kelly and Carrie are 3-4 albums deep into their careers so of course the beat her in sales

I agree guys, i dont think album sales are worth much anymore anyway. As long as you have the talent and are in the public eye and have the respect of people around you including fans and those in the industry that’s all that really matters. it just blows me away the level of success thats shes gotten from a single album and a single major movie role. i know shes gonna be in another major film too, as one of the leads but man oh man. i think the reason Idol doesnt pimp her as much is because she was booted off so early. Jennifer Hudson probably wouldnt want to be pimped on the show very much for that very reason. she probably thinks it was her hard work alone that got her the success, which it really has been since it took her about 3 years after Idol to get recognized.

@melirose Yeah your right about that. Jennifer really has separated from the show in terms of them pimping her after all of her success came about. I think the only reason Idol itself doesn’t say much because she wasn’t a winner of the show and I guess the show itself wants to showcase the winner’s more. Jennifer really did work hard to get herself out in the public eye as u mentioned it was three years later until Dreamgilrs came about long after her season. She made the right career moves and it paid off in a big way

oh, the treacherous and two faced powers that be at idol are not above using her name when it suits them, or trying to take credit for her meteoric success in garnering an oscar and a grammy… she is one who has not only transcended the so called idol bubble and its reputed stigma, she has set a benchmark for success outside of, and in spite of them that won’t be easily surpassed… their alleged reluctance to only want to put the spotlight on the ”winners” and hi placing runners up… begs the question of who, in all of idol’s years of broadcast, is a better representative and poster child for success for their franchise… they’re either extremely shortsighted, or just plain crazy… probably a lot of both, heh.

I think Jen’s made some really good professional choices and that’s helped her talent to be recognized for what it is. IMO she’s reached that elite status of being one of the most respected singers of her generation regardless of whether she’s the best seller or not. That kind of respect is what gets her invitations to perform at prestigious events.

Malware obviously you don’t follow Jennifer Hudson or know what you are talking about. But she has sold way more than 800,000 albums. and has surpassed 900,000 as well..

Jennifer is my favorite artist, she has worked so hard to get to where she is today. Jennifer is one of , if not the biggest star(s) to come from American Idol. she will get in in album sales eventually. But in terms of overall success she is at the very top… Also she is highly respected as a vocalist and artist in the music industry. Albums sales don’t equal talent..

Carrie Underwood and Jennifer Hudson are the two most faboulous idols ever so it is no surprise Clive picked them. I am loving all of this Jennifer Carrie combination. I would die of joy if they recorded together.

I follow all album sales for all the Idols and it is not even close to 900,000.

It’s selling at a slow pace and at most is not much above 800,000 right now if somebody would report the number.

Assuming I dislike Jennifer is ridiculous as I actually hold her in very high regard. What she has accomplished is very, very notable and probably something no Idol will ever replicate. You’re just getting defensive for no reason at all and spouting out false numbers to back your illogical fanaticism.

According to the interview Jen Hudson is going to be singing 2 songs in tribute to a mystery legend who will be attending Clive’s party for the 1st time. That should be great!

They also show Ricky Minor and the house band rehearsing Cowboy Casanova. The duet might be on the song All The Way.

Uh it is above 800,000 there are more RELIABLE sources that state that. So please save it. Like we said Jennifer’s album sales don’t take away from her being the most talented person to come from idol period..

Awards should be more important than record sales anyway. If I were a recording artist, I’d rather win Grammys than have platinum or even diamond records…

TOUCHE!!! You hit the nail straight on the head. Their “illogical fanaticism” is actually very harmful and detrimental to Jennifer Hudson for she is starting to believe the hype and seems to have lost the humility that made her unique in my opinion.

Also, thanks for the record sales link. I did not know Fantasia was #5 on the AI top selling list. I love her! She’s a hella performer and singer

ladyglen ChicagoStyle, Fantasia is not #5. That article only lists those that the author feels are notable and excluded Ruben, who should come before Fantasia. I’m not going to comment on the humility thing because I really don’t pay enough to any Idol to properly judge any of their characters.

Jennifer’s debut was at 786,000 at the end of the day on January 3 of 2010. It is not above 800,000. Actors comparatively make more impact then recording artists and I believe that Jennifer is as big as Carrie Underwood despite not selling as many albums. Lea, I advise you to calm down as your antics don’t reflect well on Jennifer’s fanbase, and will result in negative generalizations that plague pretty much all Idol fanbases.

Thanks for the clarification, however, I can no longer see your link to the article to vouch for want the author intended. I did however read another article wherein Fantasia was listed high on that list also and I tend to agree with that one too. I’ve seen both Fantasia and Jennifer Hudson live and Fantasia rightly won the AI title just like Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson.

I don’t pay attention to which Idol is bigger than the next for they all are talented in their own right and I tend to go by their music. I do however pay attention to their character as a celebrity (Idol) in whole and I tend to notice the humility aspect of a celebrity’s character and I give them extra points for that (lol). Sometimes that can make or break a celebrity be it in record sales, movie roles, whatever just like the antics of a so called fanatic can harm them and leave a bad taste in your mouth!
