It’s winter, it’s cold. I’M GRUMPY! The perfect anecdote…PUPPIES! Carrie Underwood spent a few days volunteering at an animal shelter, and tweeted photos of the new friends she made.

The American Idol alum and country superstar is known for her activism on behalf of animals and for the adorable photos she tweets of her dogs, Penny and Ace. Here she is, putting her love for our furry friends into action.

SO CUTE! Watch out for that poo, Carrie.

    They’re adorable and she’s sweet.

Alright, that’s definitely a cuteness overload – reminds me of the infamous “Cross of Puppies” – but it’s bound to make most anyone smile.

So cool of Carrie to bring attention to this worthy cause by getting down and dirty at this shelter. lol How DID she get poop on her shoulder? lol

Our newest family member is a small and very cute dog who was unfortunately neglected badly enough by his previous owner that he was taken away by the humane society and had an infected eye removed. However he’s adapting to his new life with my son and his wife very well.

Too much cuteness. I might vomit. ;-)

Adorable puppies! I’m a pet lover myself and always like to know which celebrities love their pets & animals in general as much as I do.

Mine is adopted from rural TN. Nobody knows where he came from in a small community so was probably dumped. One of his ears is damaged and he’s a little skittish, but otherwise healthy. :-) He’s a collie.

ETA: No chip and no collar. He walked up to a friend of mine and she took him in until she found someone to take him.

Yeah, that happens too often. My dil’s last dog was also a rescue – stray. She had him 11 1/2 years, and he was a very nice, quiet dog, but he was terrified of a lot of things when she first got him. He was 1ish and no one knew his past.

    lmao!

Vet estimates Lord Jasper is about 7. He’s very sweet and wants to be friends with my two cats, but they aren’t interested. ;-)

For all you animal lovers, check out the unlikely pairs on ellen’s site here:

Especially good if you’re having a crappy day. lol

Our new one is estimated to be around 8. We hope he gets along with our other son’s dog, which is a large but lovable yellow lab. The new one is thought to be a Shih Tzu/ Havanese combo, which is small. My son says says he’s part Ewok.

As long as the cats just give him the cold shoulder you’re okay. I’ve known a few who were meanies. :)

I have 3 rescues. It’s so important now for those wanting a new member of the family to consider a shelter pet. In some states there is a “dangerous breed” law –meaning pit bulls or dogs that resemble pit bulls in some way. This law forces the landlord to pay a lot more in insurance for tenants who have these type dogs as pets. The landlord tells them get rid of the dog or move out yesterday. These people are now forced to give up their beloved pet to the shelter.. Even if someone doesn’t want a pit type dog–if they rescue another dog–it opens up room in the shelter.

Kudos to Carrie for the work she is doing here.

Can I just say… when I die, I want to come back as Carrie Underwood!

    “Cross of Puppies” ??

  • Incipit

    “Cross of Puppies” ??

macfae, back in ’06, before Daughtry was eliminated from Idol – posters on the website Television Without Pity were amusing themselves making fun of the truly terrible, treacly Coronaries that winners got stuck with on Idol, and they wrote a few substitutes. “Cross of Puppies” was for Chris, apparently he had been in a Christian Rock band prior to AI…

The theory was “‘Well, it has to be rock, screamable, Christian, and oh yeah, puppies.” So that’s what they came up with. It’s still out there, making random people laugh – check Google?

Thanks, Incipit, I just had to have an answer for the picture it was creating in my mind,,,lol
…and it did give me a laugh,
