Carrie Underwood played the final show of her critically acclaimed and highly successful 100+ date Play On tour last night at the Palace Of Auburn Hills in Michigan with pranks, tears, and thanks. There was underwear thrown on stage during opening act Sons Of Sylvia’s set, and during Carrie’s set there were surprise appearances by Carrie’s road crew on Carrie’s red chaise longue and inside her flying truck, plus a hilarious cameo by Santa Claus that turned angsty regret ballad “What Can I Say” into a fight over Santa not answering Carrie’s Christmas letters. Carrie also threw in a little bit of “Time Of My Life” (the Dirty Dancing song not David Cook’s Magic Rainbow song) into the last song in her set, “Songs Like This”.

Though Carrie’s said she’ll spend most of January 2011 in Canada with her husband, Ottawa Senators forward Mike Fisher, her upcoming schedule is not concert-free. Carrie returns to the MGM Grand at Foxwoods for a concert on December 30th and she’s also got a sold out show at the Borgata Events Center in Atlantic City on January 1st. It’s also likely Carrie will attend the Golden Globe Awards on January 16th since she is nominated in the Best Original Song category for cowriting “There’s A Place For Us” for The Chronicles Of Narnia: Voyage Of The Dawn Treader. with Hillary Lindsey and David Hodges.

Check out VIDEO of Carrie’s duet with Santa and more, plus photos after the jump! Bonus: AUDIO of Carrie’s interview with Detroit country station WYCD where she discussed recently adopting a new dog Penny Jean, her favorite song she’s cowritten, and how she can’t wait to hug her husband.

Country Music Fever posted a review and lots of great photos from last night’s show.

Last night the Carrie Underwood concert at the Palace was AMAZING

The Pittsburgh Post Gazette said Carrie’s show there in April was one of the 5 best country concerts there this year, saying:

3. Carrie Underwood/Craig Morgan (Petersen Events Center, April 1): With her Play On Tour she upped the ante on her live production, flying above the crowd on a neon blue pickup truck, singing “Country Roads.” What separates her from so many other touring acts with high-tech production is that she didn’t need it. She’s as strong a singer as we have in the pop, country or pop-country market. Craig Morgan proved to be a likable and energetic opener.

These videos have so-so video but great audio.

“Wasted”

“Mama’s Song”

“Temporary Home”

“Country Road” (partial)
