The 2014 CMT MUSIC AWARDS To Feature a Record Number of Performances

NASHVILLE – May 12, 2014 – The 2014 CMT MUSIC AWARDS promises to be an evening packed with entertainment as Blake Shelton, Carrie Underwood, Eric Church, Florida Georgia Line, Luke Bryan and Miranda Lambert are all confirmed to perform at this year’s live show. Featuring more performances this year than ever before, the 2014 CMT MUSIC AWARDS will broadcast from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Wednesday, June 4 at 8:00 p.m. ET. Additional performers as well as presenters and host to be announced soon.

Fans can vote online at CMT.com and on their mobile device at CMT Mobile now through June 1 to determine the winners. The six finalists for VIDEO OF THE YEAR will be announced at the beginning of the live show and fans can then vote at CMT.com, CMT mobile and via text message throughout the live telecast (ET/CT only) to determine the night’s big winner.

Veteran live event producer Michael Dempsey returns to executive produce the 2014 CMT MUSIC AWARDS alongside director Joe DeMaio. John Hamlin and Margaret Comeaux serve as executive producers for CMT.

All of the announced performers are multiple nominees at this year’s CMT Music Awards, country music’s answer to the MTV VMAs. Carrie is nominated for 2 CMT Music Awards this year: Video Of The Year and Female Video Of The Year for “See You Again.” Blake scored a total of 3 nominations between his videos for “Doin’ What She Likes” and “Boys Round Here.” For a full list of the nominations for the 2014 CMT Music Awards, check out this post. Fans can vote for their favorite nominated videos at CMT.

There’s a little mystery as to what Carrie will perform, since she is prepping her 5th studio album and is unlikely to debut a new solo tune on CMT. But she is set to debut her new duet with Miranda Lambert (“Something Bad,” from Miranda’s upcoming album) this Sunday at the Billboard Music Awards, and since that is likely to be Miranda’s next single, odds favor the 2 ladies performing “Something Bad” at the CMTs as well. Another possibility would be her upcoming charity single, “Keep Us Safe,” which she cowrote with Luke Laird, Hillary Lindsey and Shane McAnally for the ACM All Star Salute To The Troops event set to air on CBS on 5/20. CMT is owned by Viacom, which also owns CBS, so it’s not out of the question that there would be a follow-up performance to keep raising money for ACM Lifting Lives.
